Mure et Musc Extreme

Song: Rasputina Children's Reform Center The words "Fruity, Musky, Sweet, Sour, Fresh" make this scent sound candylike or juvenile. It's not. For the sake of being nitpicky, I shall opine that "musky, fruity, woodsy, fresh, warm spicy" are better adjectives for Mure et Musc Extreme. This is a country meadow horseback ride on a glossy Chestnut mare under the bright autumn clear skies. The air is cool and crisp as the sun dapples across the changing leaves, but your body is warm from activity. You smell the dried fallen leaves overlaying pine needles, and immediately you catch wind of something like a fruity dry wine, discovering there's a huge overgrown blackberry thicket along the edge of the clearing. Intrigued, you dismount to try one of its last fruit, but your tongue quickly tells you these berries are not for eating. Your horse judges your naivete with a snort and leisurely trots off back to the stables, without you of course. For everyone able to laugh at themselves while enjoying what the world has to offer. For those looking to play, Mure et Musc Extreme lends its quirky yet suave charm most beautifully to rose dominant scents. Also pairs well with Cashmere Mist to create the ultimate clean 90s Pier 1 bath beads nostalgia, Light Blue to create an amazing woody zest, Britney Spears Fantasy to create a sensation of eating fresh whipped cream with pine jam topping as you trek through the dark, magical strawberry woodlands. Of course MeME combined with anything and everything Narciso Rodriguez will give birth to the musk of your dreams.

Another rather simple perfume I'd call a masterpiece. It's a high level of mastery to make such a divine composition with so little ingredients. Basically, the name of the perfume pretty much says it all. While the original has a few more notes, the extreme version is mainly focused on the two mentioned on the bottle - blackberry and musk. There is a bit of an opening with some faint citrus, but the main thing comes very soon. For the biggest part, fragrant pyramid can be summed as a mixture of white musk, ripe blackberry and some other fruits I cannot discern(maybe red currant?). Compared to the original, the fruits are amped-up here, especially blackberry, while the muskiness makes this scent totally clean and inoffensive. Like pretty much all the time with this brand, there is little to no projection, but this thing actually lasts for a solid six hours on my skin. I find this perfume more suitable for women - I would be delighted if I felt it on a female skin, I'm sure - but this can be worn by a man who likes fruity notes and overall clean vibe this scent gives. It is quite versatile, but I feel like its full beauty comes in spring and summer. I said this in another review, and I'll say it again - sometimes, simpler is better. 9/10

This perfume has two faces: A menthol, camphor, benzoin like scent makes a big 30 minute entrance. It stays in the spotlight for about 4 hours, slowly fading away, allowing the berries who have been accompanying the performance to take over. Musk finally steps up on stage with the berries and together they sing the audience to sleep. (By that I mean it's a berry & musk skin scent. For about another 4 hours.) Sexy allegory: Nerdy nurse with analgesic muscle and joint pain cream turns into discrete sweet minx. Personally: I use Tea Tree shampoo twice a week or so, it smells like medicated back rub too. Mure et Musc Extreme is a perfect pairing in this instance! ____________________________________ EDIT: Nov-2-2012 I've had the chance to really get to know this scent over the months since my original review. In the benzoin opening I mentioned (after the first 30 minutes), there is what seems to be a green white flower, I assume it's the petit grain, kinda smells like a lily. It's there for the whole life of this fragrance.

I don’t like the opening note, I guess it’s fruit, but is very sour and too green. Then a lot of musk. I had high hopes for this from the description but it’s not sweet and juicy smelling as I had hoped. I’m glad I tried a sample first as I won’t be buying a full size. Update - well I guess I have to eat humble pie and admit I was a bit hasty in my initial review. The more I sample this, the more I like it. It is very simple in style, but it’s beautifully blended and I have become rather fond of it. In fact if I could find a decent size bottle for a reasonable price, I would buy it, but thus far all the prices I’ve seen are very high. I want to add that the longevity of this is excellent. Just a small amount on clothes can still be smelt the next day.

So so so beautiful. This is a fairytale-woods scent to me. Dark berries, musk, clean but not in a department store kind of way. Mossy, musky drydown. The citrus gives it a pine sort of feeling without the astringent quality. The berries don’t smell like they’re in a fruit bowl/cocktail like many fruity perfumes do, they smell like you encountered them in the woods. It is unique; the low sillage actually works in its favor here, giving it a mysterious quality that’s very addictive. Longevity is definitely poor on skin; but surprisingly this scent lasts for weeks on clothes. And it smells like outdoor air. To increase longevity on skin, I discovered there’s a body lotion/shower gel of the same scent on their website to use as a base.

I put this on today to combat some humid Southern California heat. Every Summer my love for this fragrance grows and evolves. It's my hot, humid, Summer go to. It's a linear fragrance without much sillage, but in the Summer I value that quality. There is something dry, fresh, aromatic, and clean about this scent. This is no dryer sheets musk, yet there is something so wonderfully clean about the scent. There is a hint of peppery spice in the initial spritz that wakes up your nose. From there you sink into a Summer outing where you pick fresh, ripe berries in the cool shade of a Summer forest and eat your fill right there. Summery fresh and clean without all the standard Summer gimmicks that never turn out to be enjoyable for me.

I fell quickly for this fragrance. I was surprised, I'm usually not drawn to fruity fragrances, especially those with berry notes, but the clean, dry musk brings a complexity to the blackberry thats making me re-evaluate my relationship to fruits entirely. There's basil listed in the EDT, but not here, which is interesting because I still get a really prominent herbal accord - it's gorgeous. I used to work at a winery a few summers ago and this fragrance brings me back to the fields of rich red fruits and dry grass. It's smells like blackberry stained fingers, grassburs stuck to your sleeves, and a not-to-warm wind whipping through your hair.

7 bottles in the past 14 years, but not a daily driver. It's my signature fragrance because the first sniff makes my body spasm for a second and slows down my breathing for another; every single time, which means I love it for me and for how I feel. I don't wear it for others. For special occasions, I use Arabic BAKHOOR while spraying it on my clothes because my skin is hungry. I've gotten many compliments over the years because it is not something common for others to smell, with my body chemistry. Weak-ish sillage and longevity. Not a blind buy.

i have been wearing this fragrance for 2 years. i like the simplicity of the notes, 'mure et musc'. i mix the the Extreme edp with original edt as i found original edt is slightly musky (suitable for men, or girls like uni-sex scent) and the Extreme edp is slightly fruity. Once both mixed up, the balance is there. highly recommend if you have both. i got compliments from men and women. besides that, i can truly feel all the ingredients produced from l'artisan parfumer are natural, rather than generic, appreciate that!

I fell in love with this scent a couple summers back. A friend had sent a sample and it was love at 1st sniff. I get the fruit. More specifically it smells of blueberries to my nose. Flawlessly blended with soft white Musk. It's absolutely stunning. One spritz lasts an easy 8 hours with moderate projection. This is an ideal summertime fragrance and such an easy reach. This has been a great choice to wear to work. It doesn't bother my patients and has an awesome intimate sillage and impressive longevity.

It made me think to something very familiar to me, but I didn't remember it, until, suddenly... Does anyone Know about Roger&Gallet soaps? To me, it's exactly to the Bouquet Imperial Soap. Amazing this discovering, anyway, in any case I DON'T considere it as a serious fragance.

Blackberry is clouded with musk. This fragrance is simple and a little weak. But I can't stay away from this perfume. I don't need anything extra. It makes me feel so. Gentle and refreshing, like feeling the fresh air of spring. Not like cheap fruit perfumes.Love it!

I love this one, I wore it out one time and a lady traffic guard asked if she could hug me and said I made her proud to be a woman. It’s definitely sweet but the muskiness makes it very wearable. Agree with other reviewers saying it’s a ‘cold’ scent.

Mure et Musc Extreme is a scent you'd better to test at least twice before drawing any finite conclution. I love it when it behaves nicely. I'm surprised that it smells so different now. ---- The odd bad first time: After I put one drop of it on me, I smelt a blast of weird, unnaturally twisted fruity scents oddly singing off-tune to me. It was like an night mare, 'bugspray?'! it gave me a much worse headache than some really cheap sugary-plastic-out-on-your-face-synthetic 'pink' commercial perfume can do. Then it went through an odd sweet stage, which makes me uncomfortable. It's a vague sweetness, kinda floral, and nauseas to me. However, the dry down is to die for, it's the type of clean musk I love, something really similar to Lanvin Jeanne Lanvin's dry down. Clean, slightly ink-y smelling musk. ---- The good times: (It's about 12C this time, 3-4C colder than the other 'bad' testing day) Loving the dry down,so I've put on Mure et Musc Extreame again today. The opening is totally different! There's at most 5 seconds of lovely juicy genuine blueberry smell(not sweetened, just natural blueberry smell you can smell from a punet of real blueberries), and then it transformed to something cirtrusy with a little bit spicy hint, something reminds me a lot of dry orange-peel/old fashioned good cologne kinda spicy(eg. Dior Eau Sauvage). Then it smells creamier(as in vanilla creamy) and sweeter, all in a pleasant way. Later on, there's a Bang!,the pseudo-vanilla scent and the cirtrusy residual have transformed into the ink-y musk, smells clean, innocent, and at the same time really addictive and sensual. Highly recommended if you love clean musk, the dry down is to tie for. If it disappointed you by its opening, maybe give it another chance, it might bloom on you at a slightly different temperature.

First of all, let me start by saying that I love the original version of Mure et Musc, I personally think it is a masterpiece, regardless of what people may say about it, It is perfect line between tart fruity citrus and dry but fresh barbershop musk. The extreme version is quite different, it appears they have taken the 'mure' part, the berries, and have opted for a different interpretation. While the original kind of feels like taking a shot of super tart unsweetened cranberry juice, this one feels like smelling dried cranberry flakes, or even a cranberry tea. Towards the dry down I am reminded a bit of certain pipe tobacco that has a distinct dried cherry facet, but without the darker facets, just the fruitiness. Personally I prefer the original, this one is too fruity and too feminine leaning for me, but an interesting fragrance nonetheless.

I tried the Mure et Musc Extreme fragrance today and I definitely smell the sweet fruits in it, it is lightly gourmand. Slightly spicy. The Musk is not too strong, it's not as musky as I thought it would be... and that's a good thing. The fruit dominates throughout. As it dries down any sharpness in the fragrance settles down, and it becomes more berry-sweet, but not a cloying sweet. It's like natural blackberry/blueberry pie filling with spices. Good for playful or casual relaxed days and weekends. All my talk about sweet berries makes this sound very sweet, but it is really only medium sweet, the berry notes used are not sugary... more naturally sweet. I need a naturally sweet nectar scent, and this one is a top contender, for it's niche, in my consideration to buy one. Naturally refreshing. I like it.

Afraid this smells waaaay too light to call it extreme anything. Used quite a bit and could hardly smell anything. No projection on me. What I do smell, I like. The blackberries smell juicy. But again, the scent is very dainty and soft. Not what I would consider FBW, but I can see how someone who prefers something very light and fruity might find this appealing. I will continue to keep searching for something I find more suitable to my tastes. Happy smelling! :)

This is reminiscent of blackberries eaten straight from the bush, in early autumn in the UK. It's slightly bitter and fresh, mixed with a whole bunch of musk. Not sweet, more savoury and interesting. I do love this, but the performance is much more of a skin scent. I've never smelled anything like it, it's nostalgic and comforting. I will finish the sample and possibly it will be full bottle worthy, we will see.

The first spray is harsh and narcotic, later it develops into a sensual and unplifting scent. Blackcurrant, black berries and orange tree leaves with musk. Very simple composition and apparently customers' favorite, but this doesn't work for me at all. I like the scent, but it doesn't project and doesn't last long enough. 2 hours longevity for 125 bucks? (score: 65% -will not buy again)

Last year i was looking for a dark berry perfume... I was searching high and low. Ive got a 5ml sample of this from the l'artisan xmas promo and i gave it a proper wear test today.... It smells a bit like coming into a speakeasy jazz bar with the smell of cigarettes and mixers in the air. This fragrance feels dry and cold. I like it.

I wanted to love this, like I did with the original Mure et Musc. However, there is too much sweet blackberry (and it really DOES smell like ripe blackberries btw), and not enough musk now. The blackberries dominate too much, drowning out the musk even after 6.5 hours on me. Can they make the musk more extreme please?

smells like a luxurious soap. lots of musk with quite frankly, mild indiscernible fruit. i would have never been able to guess blackberry if it wasn’t for the notes. this is a great clean skin scent. only negative is poor sillage.

Sweet and seductive fragrance, this version is rather to be worn night time, and not on a hot day. Love the way the musk coming through with the berry notes, which is like a walk in the late spring within in the garden.

It's a little menthol/minty in the beginning, however that note doesn't last that long. Then it's basically berries and musk. Later, through the day the scent warms up. I like it! :-)

To me this smells exactly like 'Tunes' (a cough sweet in the UK)! :D Blackcurrant/berry menthol... Longevity moderate, light but not weak. Overpriced, but wearable.

Mure et Musc Extreme starts an earthy musk fragrance with fruit as the complement. Very nice, fresh, slightly tart. As it dries down, it gets sweeter.

What's extreme about what essentially smells like the body shops pleasant teeney Dewberry is beyond me. The price, however, could be considered so!

Musk is what makes the fragrance for me. Making the black berry even more pronounced with a dark undertone. Really enjoyed it.

A very gentle fruity musc. A weird stink on first spray, like the lingering of cigarettes. That fades out for the most part and what’s left is nice. I don’t think it’s bottle worthy for me, but still well crafted. I think musky blackberry just isn’t my thing. On dry down the fruit fades more and the cigarettes are more apparent. Shame, I thought this had potential.

I haven't tried the original Mure et Musc so I can't compare, but I haven't been very impressed with this. It's a pleasant enough scent but honestly just smells like a basic fragrant hand soap. I agree with other reviewers that it could do with some oomph to deepen it a little.

This was less sweet than I thought it would be based on the notes, but still too sweet for me. It could use more oomph and depth.

I dont know if i have a crazy nose or something but this scent literally made me want to vomit - i got a strong aroma of sweaty, dirty bum (seriously, i kid you not. Does no-one else get this?) laced with sickly sweetness. Literally like someone had poured some sweet, syrupy gloop down a sweaty, dirty bum-crack. Thats the mental picture i got with every sniff, and couldnt shake off (no wonder i wanted to vomit, right?). I think the musk notes in this must be the animaly, dirty type musk? (rather than the soapy, clean white musks im used to). And the sweet notes.. i have no idea what they are, but for someone who loves vanilla, pink sugar etc theyre just way too synthetically nausiatingly sweet even for me. So yeah, for a scent i was dying to sample and thought i would LOVE this turned out to be a wholly unpleasant experience. I NEVER want to have to smell this odour again. Actually, i tell you what else it reminded me of: when someone has been in the bathroom and, erm, stunk it out, and then sprayed a load of cheap sickly dewberry airfreshener to cover it up, but it just mingles into a sweet, poopy, dirty, gag-reflexing stench. Yup, thats Mure et Musc in a nutshell for me. :(

I bought this in the small duo collection recently from Sephora. One of the few scents I have ever owned that I strongly disliked. Upon initial application it smelled exactly like some strong mosquito preventative spray I had used...I couldn't believe how badly it smelled! After waiting another 10 min it had dried down to a musky scent that was a decent men's cologne. Very, very masculine. Plan to save for my son or brother. I am so disappointed. Addendum: I "fixed" this scent, for my personal use and tolerance. Added Fresh Cream By Philosophy to warm the musc with some creamy sweetness. My son and brother may not benefit from this after all.

Mûre et Musc Extrême opens very sour fruity with citrus. First, the blackberry appears, fruity and sweet. The citrus keeps shining through. Last, the fresh red berries show up. The musk smells quite dry, sometimes even sharp. It is a good counterweight for the fruity sour notes of the berries. The drydown reminds me of a shower gel by the Body Shop I had years ago during the 90's. This fragrance is quite pleasant and fruity, though not my taste in a fragrance. Sillage is soft, longevity is moderate.

All I smell is thyme (is that musk? lol). I mean i get some fruitiness and it very nice and juicy and realistic, but I swear I smell herbs (thyme mostly or maybe it is the musk) and it is overpowering everything. Not for me... Edit: oh yeah i really get animalic musk in the dry down. Grosssss

I love blueberries and musk, but for some reason this fragrance is not working for me. It is not juicy or sweet, nor is it earthy and musky. There is a sharp "bug spray" note that comes across on my skin, and I am wondering if it is the black currant.

My hopes to find a blackberry scent in this fragrance are failed. It rather smells something like red berries than blackberry. Almost the same as an original one. I even don't want to compare. Disappointment.

Smells like French soap. Very soapy. I blind bought (stupid, I know) and ended up giving the scent to my mom.

It smells like an Arm and Hammer carpet cleaner I use, theres that weird baking soda smell that I don't like.

At first this is a lolly-sweet sugary blackberry scent, cannot smell musk or anything else. Disgusting.

Well I am currently heavily engaged in the art of finding a new fragrance and its proving to be much more challenging than I imagined. I liked the sound of L'Artisan, but I have never tried their offerings. Mure et Musc sounded like a good place to start, and I ordered a sample from L'Artisan directly. I went for the extreme version and excitedly sprayed on half the 1.5 tester bottle on all my pulse points and a little clothing so I could give it a good test drive. I could initially smell clouds of fruit with smoke, but just one hour later I am left with the smell of rancid dead flowers, it is all pervasive and I will actually need to go and shower as it is so repulsive, The smell of dead flowers is is one of my complete aversions...I really detest it, musty, dead, sickly sweetness, acrid, faded petals and powdered decay. I am SO glad I did not purchase the full bottle. Guess it must be my skin? Tomorrow I am trying Un Air De Bretagne, fingers crossed for a pleasurable experience. I also lucked out on my bottle of Serge Lutens Des Clous Pour Une Pelure EDP which has been sprayed twice and will not be used again, the cloves overpower me. Lesson reinforced...always try before I buy....

مشک گیاهی! وقتیکه به نتهای این عطر نگاه می کردم؛انتظار کاری با رایحه ی غالب تمشک و مشک داشتم که به زنانگی تمایل داره.اما خب خانه ی ل آرتیزان؛بر کیفیت و متفاوت بودن محصولاتش تاکید داره و برای این عطر هم؛این هدف در اولویت قرار داشته! قبل از هر چیز؛یه خرده خاطره بازی کنیم و یادی کنیم از گذشته های دور؛تموم شدن امتحانات آخر سال و فصل تعطیلات! یکی از وسایل تفریحی اون روزها دوچرخه بود و چالش بزرگ استفاده از دوچرخه؛پنچری! شیوه ی سنتی پنچر گیری و بیرون کشیدن تیوپ از داخل تایر و رفع نقص هم یکی از فنونی بود که به مرور در اون استاد شده بودیم! یکی از مواردی که از اون روزها در خاطرم مونده ؛بوی همون تیوپ لاستیکی هست! بویی خاکی؛چرکین و جیر مانند که به رایحه ی گاز مایع بی شباهت نیست! خاطره بازی رو تمام کنم و به بحث اصلی بپردازیم؛اما بویی که بهش اشاره کردم رو بخاطر بسپارید!! Mure et Musc Extreme گیاهی و قدرتمند باز میشه. آغاز عطر؛عرصه ی قدرت نمایی اسطوخودوس و کمی بابونه هست.تلخ؛گیاهی و کمی خشک. این نمایش حدود 20 دقیقه طول میکشه که به مرور رایحه ی ضعیفی از تمشک در اون به مشام میرسه و همزمان فضای گیاهی رو به افول میره. در لحظه ی تعادل فضای گیاهی و رایحه ی تمشک؛اون بویی که در بالا بهش اشاره کردم رو میشه حس کرد! دقیقا حس و حال همون تیوپهای لاستیکی زنده شد برام! شاید مشکی که مد نظرم بود همینه! اما این مشک؛اصلا حیوانی و طبیعی نیست بلکه کاملا گیاهی و صنعتیه! واقعا این بو جالبه برام و اینکه خیلی کنجکاوم بدونم از ترکیب چه موادی خلق شده؟ بویی خاکی؛چرکین؛کمی پودری و خاص که در این لحظات حاکم مطلق عطره ولی خیلی زود آروم می گیره و باز رایحه ی تمشک و فضای گیاهی بالا میان و همه چیز به تعادل میرسه. تمشک در اینجا بخاطر هم نشینی با فضای گیاهی؛ اون حس ملس و آبدار که بیشتر مناسب خانم ها هست رو نداره.بلکه در کنار رایحه ی آشنا و ملیح خودش بوی سبز و نسبتا تلخ گیاهی رو داره و دقیقا مثل حس ایجاد شده از بوییدن میوه های تمشک که هنوز رو بوته ها هستن و در یک ظهر پاییزی؛عطرشون جنگل رو در بر گرفتن؛هست. بویی ملس؛گیاهی و لطیف که هر از گاهی اون رایحه ی جالبی که ظاهرا مشک هست و در ابتدا راجع بهش نوشتم؛در این فضا می پیچه. این فضای اصلی Mure et Musc Extreme که به مرور ضعیف میشه و بعد از حدود 4 ساعت محو میشه. همونطور که مستحضر هستید و در معرفی این خانه ذکر شده؛Mure et Musc اولین عطر این خانه هست که پرفروشترین محصول اونها هم به حساب میاد. بنده Mure et Musc رو ملاقات نکردم و شناختی از فضای اون عطر ندارم؛اما با توجه به اینکه نسخه ی اکستریم؛یعنی همین نسخه ی مورد بحث از محصولات همین لاین به حساب میاد میشه حدس زد که دلیل توفیق نسخه ی اصلی در اون دوران؛فضایی متفاوت از جریان حاکم بر اون بازار اون روزهاست. تفاوتی که بخوبی نگاه نو و ایده های خلاقانه ی خانه ی ل آرتیزان رو نشون میده و این توفیق؛شروع خوبی میشه بر ادامه ی روند این برند قابل احترام. این عطر با توجه با اینکه عنوان اکستریم رو یدک میکشه؛انتظار پخش و ماندگاری بالا رو ایجاد میکنه اما شاید این عنوان فقط به دلیل شروع گیاهی با ابهت عطر و رایحه ی تمشکی که زنانه نیست؛به اون اطلاق شده! کامنت:م.ع (سایت لوکس بایر (با امکان تست سمپل

The fruity floral isn't my bag. There are a few exceptions to this habit, notably the intoxicating Badgley Mischka. I'm not starved for fruit, though. Eau de Cologne, which starts and ends with hesperedic notes, is by definition fruity, and it's hard to dislike eau de cologne. Otherwise there are three ways that I like fruit in my perfume. 1) The fruity chypre. Granted, chypres contain bergamot, a fruit in its own right. But in many of the great chypres of the 20th century it is the fruit that gives the genre such an enormous range of moods. It gives Rochas Femme its come-hither gaze, Diorella its hint of afternoon trysts, Chanel Cristalle its remoteness, and Prescriptives Calyx its brimming elation. The chypre’s moss gives the fruit a long shadow, and the world settles in to a slower, more deliberate, more poised state. 2) The woody, fruity perfumes like the Serge Lutens/Christopher Sheldrake Bois series (eg. Feminite du Bois, Bois et Fruit, Bois de Violette) and Keiko Mecheri Oliban. Dry woods/resins such as cedar and frankincense and sweet/tart fruit notes like plum and peach complement each other and have a raspy harmony. These perfumes purr and hum. They surround you and whisper in your ear. Christopher Sheldrake using woody amber aromachemicals revived this form in the 1980s and made a reference point for much of current perfumery. 3) The fruity musks. Some musks have have a berry-sweetness to them, and many fruits have a strong musky quality, especially when they're at the cusp of ripeness and rot. The fruit/musk pairing in perfumery feels preordained. Fruits provide a ‘flavor’ and musks add a roundness, backlighting. In the same way that butter and cream add both richness and ‘mouth feel’ to food, the fruity musks add a set of scents and olfactory qualities that might be called ‘nose-feel’. So, Mure et Muscs Extreme. It is definitively fruity (blackberry) but the fruit never appears out of proportion or sickly-sweet. An astringency, a greenness runs right down the center of Mure et Musc Extreme. It highlights the sweetness and roundness of the perfume. It’s strong and can’t be missed, but it just highlight the berry/musk accord. The musk is the pillow on which the fruit sits, and since the fruit and musk notes are of equal duration, Mure et Muscs lands somewhere between a top-to-bottom traditional accord and a linear one. It changes from start to finish, but most of the changes are an ongoing modulation of the original set of notes. Different notes step forward at different times, and Mure et Musc demonstrates the best of the linear fragrance.
