Ode à l'Oudh

Ok, so I thought Absolute Aphrodisiac was my favorite Vanilla fragrance (36year old male). I was wrong.. this is it. Scent; this starts off with vanilla, and a touch of Oud. The Oud here initially feels synthetic, not skanky at all. It is almost exactly like Tom Ford Oud Woods Oud, with a prominent vanilla. The effect is a DARK vanilla based scent. Mysterious and, in my opinion, masculine— again as much as a vanilla scent can be (I rate this as 100% unisex btw). As it dries down, the vanilla tames itself (it was not an in your face vanilla in the first place) and the Oud and saffron take a bigger role. ALL THREE notes are perfectly balanced. The scent at this point is like Oud For Greatness saffron / Oud with an equal part vanilla. OfG and Oud Wood have what I consider a ‘mass appealing’ Oud note. That note is here. And with saffron is reminiscent of Oud for Greatness. But then add a strong vanillic opening. Which settles into a 1/3rd composition of Oud, vanilla, and saffron. Absolutely beautiful. Scent 9.5/10 Performance is also stellar here. Lasted all day - 10 hours on skin, even after a shower. Sillage is not as huge, making this slightly more intimate- but I’d say 2hrs of 3ft, then maybe 1-2ft for a few more hours until it remains on skin for the next 5-6hrs. This is a love for me, all season, any occasion. FB on its way. Only knock is the price.. 230$ for 100ml. But it’s comparable / better than my previous favorite vanilla Absolute Aphrodisiac

i never thought i could like a sexy, woody vanilla perfume more than penhaligon’s babylon, but ode à l'oudh proved me so wrong. i cannot get enough of this perfume at all. at first spray it has that smell that is so much like a chocolate, woody vanilla scent that you would smell at a small bakery in town and be instantly drawn into visiting and eating a pasty there because of how delicious the scent smells. eventually when it dries, you will get the sweet, sexy effect of a dark and smoky vanilla scent all over you that both men and women will be obsessing over when they are near your presence all night long. i know people can argue that this unisex perfume has a more masculine smell to it, i think as a woman myself it smells just as great on a woman as it would a man! i don’t think i will using any other perfume besides babylon, coffee break, or alien goddess for a while, ode à l'oudh is absolutely one of the most sweetest smelling perfumes i’ve had in a while and despite it being pricey, i’d absolutely recommend any guy or girl at least own this perfume once in their life because it is an ABSOLUTE game changer!!

Was recommended this by a lady in the mall while on the hunt for a good tobacco fragrance. Not sure why she recommended this but I'm glad she did as the moment I got home, I bought a bottle (they were sold out in store and on their website). I typically don't like vanilla fragrances but this was different and something everyone should try. On it's own it's amazing but if you like to layer, this is incredible. The oud is a western oud that is very clean and mass appealing while the saffron is in the background. Very linear but incredible stuff. The website I bought it from (nose paris) gave me 6 2ml samples + 2 10ml samples of my choice which I used one of the 10ml samples on another vial of this because it's that good.

I am completely digging the sample i ordered. It’s a gorgeous dark and smoky vanilla which has a lot more than those 3 declared notes. And no, don’t worry, it doesn’t smell of Oud, there might be a drop in the whole composition but is undetectable. The first seconds are strong, very middle eastern, but it quickly fades into a damn sexy and elegant dark and complex vanilla. I can smell suede in this, cedarwood, pepper. I would describe it as a moving point in a triangle where the corners would be Babylon, Babycat and Rosendo Mateu 5, made with l’artisan’s unique refine and class. Spot on. The price? Too much.
