The Wow! Why so much hate? Are you folk crazy? I have never felt so compelled to write a review. I guess it is because I feel this incredible fragrance deserves to be truly respected. I don't even know where to begin describing the smell. I can't. You know the notes listed above and you will recognise many of them in this fragrance but there is magic going on with the composition. Ok. I have a confession. I have hairy wrists. Very hairy wrists. My partner hates my hairy wrists. And yet, and yet... His nose has been snuggling up and down my arm, searching out the atoms amongst my hairs, vacuuming up the pheromones. Earlier it was just me myself and I all alone with my Skin on Skin. I had the candles burning, soft music playing, a fat glass of fine wine and I could just not drag my nose away from my damn wrist! I think another reviewer said something along the lines of when you kiss the top of a cats head and there is that warmth and beautiful animalistic yet clean smell. I actually think it is more like a house-rabbit. Have you ever had the good fortune of meeting such a gentle creature? There is something more innocent about them than cats and something more untamed. Sniffing my scent-laden wrist is the closest thing I have ever come across to gently kissing the head of my beautiful rabbit! He is a very affectionate soul and loves to be nuzzled. He lis not afraid of my hairy arms and he will often lick them with his tiny warm tongue. Now that I have this perfume, my partner finally gives my wrists the love they yearn! I am completely blown away by the magic of Skin on Skin. At first, I thought it a ridiculous name but of course I completely understand it. Perhaps it should have been called Nose on Skin but that doesn't quite have the same ring to it. All you crazy fools who hate this frag... I am glad. I am glad! You are possibly the same people who do not understand the beauty of inner silence. The same folk who do not stop to look up to the sky and almost cry at the simple beauty of a solitary bird soaring on the thermals. A great fragrance deserves to be 'listened to' with the nose. This scent elicits reverence in me. It takes me to where other fragrances of a similar note family also take me, but also far beyond. Actually it takes me somewhere totally unexpected. It takes me to this present moment. Right here, right now. A place where I need or want for nothing. A place where everything is just perfect. Just as it should be. A place of pure love. A place where a warm nose with soft in-breaths and gentle out-breaths explores my lucky arm. The space between the tick and the tock of the clock, the pause between the in-breath and the out. This moment. This moment. This moment is all there ever is and I am in love.

The 125ml bottles are no longer being produced. Everyone who loves this fragrance will have to settle for purchasing the newer, bland, gray glass 100ml bottles in future. So why not scoop up a discounted 125ml bottle now before they all disappear or become ridiculously priced on auction sites? I fell in love at first sniff with Skin on Skin. While I do love sexy leather & suede fragrances, my nose detects not even a hint of human sexuality -- far from it; instead it's the clean, warm, friendly & comforting scent of a beloved cat's fur and it's simply irresistible. Yes, indeed. Soft suede and warm fur. When I wear this to work I find people stepping closer when they speak to me... I know they're aware of my fragrance even when they don't mention it. Skin on Skin is such a friendly, comforting fragrance that to suggest it has sexual over/undertones or intentions seems very wrong to me. Skin on Skin isn't intercourse or an invitation to it, it's a comforting, friendly hug and shame on anyone who suggests otherwise. Soft suede and slightly musky kitty fur and that's it. I sense no whiskey nor any of the florals shown in the pyramid above; don't purchase if these notes are what you're looking for. On the other hand, if soft suede and warm kitty fur appeal to you Skin on Skin is a "must have". My fragrance collection is "stupid large" and I expect I'll be gifting/selling much of it in the next couple of years but there are many fragrances that I simply cannot conceive of ever being without and Skin on Skin is one of them. Warm, musky, powdery warmth that's "my own skin only better" with that comforting "kitty fur" aspect makes this a "must have" for me. Grab a 125ml at various discount sites before they're gone forever.

The opening! New car smell in a bottle! A bouquet of purple flowers smothered by hot plastic and surrounded by an acetone cloud. Cyborg skin. My five year old gave me his unvarnished opinion (as usual): “Mommy! You smell like the swimming pool! BLECK!”. On clothing...those notes remain. Thankfully, this evolves on the skin. But...I’m not sure I love it. The more I wear it, the more I enjoy it. The problem is that the projection is rather low, so after the initial chemical blast it becomes difficult to form an opinion about what remains. The dry down is certainly the best part. I so wanted a lipstick and leather vibe from this perfume and the dry down comes close. Definitely a unique and interesting perfume. Edit—after wearing this for some time, I love it. I’ve learned many Bertrand Duchaufour creations require patience and contemplation. The best perfumes are often the ones I initially hate. It’s the mark of a truly great perfumer to create scents that are bold, totally unique and therefore polarizing. BD is not in the business of churning out crowd-pleasers. Yes, this fragrance is challenging at times and probably best in cool weather, but I adore the interplay of suede and iris. Love!

Skin On Skin is a beautiful fragrance that conjures images of a Victorian era Boudoir. What i get on the initial spray is a hefty dose of Whiskey & Suede that quickly folds into a Sharp Floral Iris along with a soft Rose, Lavender, Saffron, & Musk notes that gently support & add a well rounded nature to a Powdery Orris Root. Toward the dry down it morphs into this beautiful Suede-like Lipstick & Makeup Powder accord that somewhat smells mildly Vanillic on my Skin. Dont listen to the negative comments. It doesnt at all smell like Baby Dolls, Plastic Jelly Shoes, or a Shoe Store. Skin On Skin is an extremely sharp & powdery Iris fragrance that smells absolutely beautiful in the Winter Months. ...& while my description of Skin On Skin makes this fragrance sound Feminine, its totally unisex. Longevity is around 10 hours & Projection is Moderate for about 3 hours, But the Sillage trail is massive. My review is from my bottle that i bought in 2015.

As a child, I had a pair of teal, pink and purple suede birkenstocks. Skin on skin smells exactly like the box they came in! Like someone else said, it definitely smells like a mom-and-pop cobbler shop, the type with a bell hanging from the door (which I picture painted in dark green, with a brass clench handle that's been polished by years of regular customers coming in for the incredible craftsmanship of that specific shoemaker), the shop is poorly lit, filled to the brim with all sorts of products, the cracking hardwood floors having seen better days but the prices haven't changed since 1974. So anywho, shoe boxes... plastic things that emit that sort of vanillic hue... some anis étoilé somehow... *bref* Bertrand Duchaufour once again created something rather unique, for the more niche noses. On an sidenote: the Saudi nose seems to be utterly in love with this scent profile. Like instant marriage proposal level of lust.

I waited in anticipation for the arrival of my Skin on Skin bottle. I love the smell of my cat, would it be anything like it? Would it be on the feminine side or not? And how would the flower come out? The box feels soft and warm. Great bottle. Took the cap off, and a smooth powdery floral scent emerged. I sprayed it on my hand and leather mixed in with the flowers. It reminded my of Versace - Dreamer, which is one of my favorites. Versace is a different scent, but has the same mix of flowers, make-up, and a certain dirt. Skin on Skin is warm, cosy and amazingly comforting. No catfur, unisex but on the feminine side, floral. My wife said I smelled like Hubba Bubba gum though. I will settle with 'nice and interesting scent' in a beautifull box and bottle. Update oktober 2017: this scent has become one of my favotites. I love it!

A generous Fragrantican sent me a sample of this beauty. I've warn it all day since about 8am this morning. IMHO Skin on Skin is THE PERFECT skin scent.. no pun intended. It opens deliciously strong with whiskey and a touch of cream. For the briefest second I was reminded of creamy butterscotch candy, though it isn't candy sweet in the least. I detect no "iris" as a singled out note; only a well blended powderiness accompanying the soft suede that settles into the skin. As the name implies the fragrance beautifully enhances the scent of one's own skin. Skin on Skin is indeed a special fragrance that happens to be perfectly unisex. As a woman I'm in love with this scent, but I'd imagine it would smell even better on a man. Sillage is minimal after having worn it all day. Longevity is about 8 hours. Delightful!

I really like karmamay's review. I think it's a great depiction of this scent. I was hooked at first spray. It's so far from the usual blends that seem to continuously surface each year - and to me, that's refreshing. That's why I like this hobby - the stuff that isn't typical. This falls directly into that category: leather, whiskey and a hint of something sweet - maybe that's the floral notes popping? At any rate - to me this is a sexy smell - and absolutely evokes those feelings. I'm so impressed by every facet of this fragrance - and for $50 (I think they were originally $280!) think it is the best bang for your buck that you can get. 7/10

I absolutely adore this scent. It is not a straightforward one to like. First I smelled lots of whiskey, alcoholic, almost urinal smell. My boyfriend called it 'squirrel piss'... But the drydown draws you in. It definitely reminds me of smell of a furry Persian cat, stroking it, while while sitting in front of an open fire. It has something animalic and intenseky sexy to it, but without any florals or fruit, just the suede and animalic scent... I am now addicted, got 2 bottles on ebay and I wake up with the desire to spray it on. Same before going to bed, I just want to smell this on me. Boyfriend loves it too.

I am addicted to this. It's the bread and butter, not the entree, and it is the only scent I crave everyday. When I read a negative review of this, I feel like a mother listening to a teacher slander her son. This is a boldly synthetic-smelling take on saffron suede, sweetened by whiskey and mattefied by orris. It’s a beige thing, conceptually familiar and yet so unique in final outcome. To me, it’s like an idealized, amplified cozy scent: A kitten’s fur or a newborn baby’s skin. It feels intimate and slightly naughty, like a lovers breath. Completely subjective love from me. An alltime favorite. 5 out of 5.

Weird. Weird weird weird. And I f-ing love it! Starts out like a new beach ball fresh out the package. It's vinyl and latex and new car interior. Projection is mad... For the first 10 minutes. It settles down to plastic and saffron pretty quickly as the projection pulls back. At about 1 hour some sweetness comes through. Something like raspberry ketone and sherbet powder under a subtle layer of leather and vinyl. After 4 hours it's just a subtle raspberry and leather skin scent and by hour 5 it's gone. I wish it lasted longer on me because it's addictive and I want to smell like this for days!

Skin on Skin is, to me, a perfect suede-iris-whiskey scent. I've lost count of the compliments I received when wearing this perfume. It starts off rather boozy, then metamorphoses into a drier suede and iris fragrance and, in the final stage, it becomes a sweeter, softer, suede-iris scent with just a hint of saffron. Far from being overpowering, it has noticeable sillage and excellent staying power on my skin - I get about 7/8 hours. I appreciate a large number of Bertrand Duchaufour's creations, but Skin on Skin is the one that seems to work best with my chemistry.

Well, this was in TKMaxx for £40 last week and the reviews here put me off and I bought something else with great reviews and mostly "love" on the bars. Well, well. I did not like the other one and put it on sale on Ebay. I just went and bought Skin on Skin. I LOVE IT! On my is a boozy floral with and earthy dry touch from the leather; elegant and sparkly. I Even like the start. My colleague likes it too. So I had to review this to balance all the negative reviews! The packaging is something else. Luxurious.

This smells to me like straight up suede+iris+whisky+saliva on hot skin. It stays close to you and makes you smell a little...overheated. Apply on parts of your body where it gets warm. This is not for clothes. It needs skin. I've been trying to think how people got the plastic/vinyl scent from this, and all I could come up with is the suede. Maybe this is a cultural thing? I don't think I even know what vinyl smells like off the top of my head, so perhaps I don't have it in my olfactory "vocabulary"?

To me this smells like vinyl, and I love the smell of vinyl. I had a couple sample vials and just now got the bottle, and I'm so happy with it. If you love the scent of new beach balls, this is worth a try. But it is weird. It's not totally dissimilar from Dzing, and just like that one, I wouldn't wear more than one spray of this in mixed company. I'll occasionally enjoy one spray of Dzing on the inside of my arm at work, so I can experience its phases to brighten my day, but not for others to notice.

She's a beauty! I have several L'Artisan fragrances and had to try this based on the reviews. I was concerned at first that it might be to unisex for me - leaning masculine but that is not the case. It goes on very unisex but ends up very feminine with a touch of powder. It's a very present yet soft fragrance hence the name skin on skin. It's sweet but not overly and it's powdery without being over done. I love this one and the box and presentation are fantastic.

This is amazing. Imagine the most beautiful woman embracing you while wearing a suede jacket. You smell her perfume, a smooth and light concoction of vanilla and iris. Her skin smells of sweet and powdery musk. That is what you get, to me, from Skin on Skin. I purchased this blind from the reviews, and am so glad I did. It is unisex I believe via the male and female elements. Projects decently with mid longevity. The bottle reminds me of fine crystal.

Electricity, leather, dirt, saffron-laced iris and whisky rose. This is a beautiful fragrance that continually evolves into a beautiful creamy thing. When first applied, it crackles like a live wire and smells of a fine soft leather. It doesn't exactly dry down. It matures and rounds out, and becomes a musky quietly opulent floral. I absolutely love it. One of my new faves from L'Artisan. I can't wait to get my hands on an entire bottle.

Absolutely beautiful smooth slightly vanillic leather with powdery iris. I’m so glad I could find a bottle after realizing how underrated the explosions de emotions line is. They can be off-putting initially and then the beauty emerges. The dry down is a blend of Bottega Veneta edp and Jean Patou que sais-je? Reminiscent of the gentle sweetness of jour de Fete. So enveloping, perfect for foggy spring days.

I cannot WAIT to begin using this again!!!! I fell in LOVE with Skin on Skin by the reviews/notes alone. It was a blind buy, and I wish ALL of my blind buys were this perfect! L'Artisan's name choice could not be more perfect. Sensual, warm, enveloping without choking anyone, so very smooth....everything and anything you need for a much awaited date!

A beautiful fragrance. The first half hour is like entering a leather workshop and the smell of raw suede hits you. Then the iris emerges and covers the skin with a sweet powderiness. It lasts until the end. It lasts 5-6 hours on the skin with a projection of about half a meter. In cooler weather, it is like a wonderful soft blanket.

I am blown away by all the different reactions this fragrance brings out on everyone's skin. On me.......this is the most floral, but deep, fragrance with some lovely leather/musk keeping any sharp notes in line...and the powder pumping it up even more for my nose to LOVE THIS! A truly amazing fragrance for me. *sigh*

Skin on skin is a fragrance I tried in store and fell in love with the softness. I think the negative reviews are slightly harsh. This comes across very softly as a perfume. It is not a perfume that I would wear often but I can appreciate for its subtle nature. I really like the suede smell. Great stuff.

This smells like a woman wearing a leather jacket. When you lean in closer, you catch whiffs of her powder makeup, perfume and the sweetness of booze on her breath mingling in with the scent of the leather. Either that or a purse/makeup bag. I prefer the imagery of the former.

Revisiting the reviews... this must have been reformulated! the last reviews don't resonate with my exparience of Skin on Skin at all. I use mine for layering, with Alien and other flower power ones and the results are divine.

This is not skin but leather :) But in a beautiful way. After a half an hour it it transfomrs into an amazing flower scent with a bit hint of leather. It is unique and fantastic one :) On my "must-have-list" :)

This fragrance is sweet and warm on me, like my skin but better. For me it is ideal at winter time.

Despite all the bad reviews and warnings not to blind buy, I threw caution to the wind and purchased it. I tend to shy away from "oddball" fragrances, but given it's Duchafour, and I already own and enjoy Rapelle Toi from this line, my curiosity got the best of me. I may live to regret it, but seeing as it gets a lot of Like and Love votes from people who may not have commented, I'm willing to take a chance. Will update when I receive it in a few days. If I don't like it, it will go in my sell pile, as I'm culling my perfume collection anyway. Fingers crossed! ACTUAL REVIEW - Phew! We'll I am happy that I trusted my gut and blind bought this. Yes, those first 10 minutes are plasticky and smell more like Scotch than rum to me, but once the iris comes forward and softens things a bit with some powder, it begins to smell like the other notes are softly infusing the huge, soft, suede note. It CAN be too much for some, but two sprays on the wrist work great for me. I definitely get the doll head vibe, but I am compelled to sniff my wrist every few minutes because it just unravels so beautifully. I think it's very sophisticated, despite the powdery edges that some may call old fashioned. If you want a great bargain on a true niche scent by a great nose, grab this on sale on eBay or whatever while you still can - live a little dangerously! 😉 SEVERAL HOURS LATER - I love it. I am also certain that skin chemistry is a huge factor here. Perhaps Skin on Skin is a play on the phrase where it means leather/suede (skin) on the human body (skin again). In any case I'd say it's best described as enigmatic. EDIT 3/18/2023 Wow! Different experience today. I immediately got the plastic/vinyl note others spoke of, which I find oddly pleasant. The booze isn't as strong, but soon enough, the soft, powdery iris starts to peak through. I was wearing a primer, so I wonder if that had an impact on the opening. Doesn't matter. I still love it!

The name "Skin on skin" made me expect a skin scent, and that is how it ends up after a few hours in terms of projection at least, but in the opening nothing could be further from the truth: it's immediately obvious that "skin" is this case refers to the peculiar, powerful leather accord that manages to smell simulatenously extremely animalic and, as others have mentioned, like a new car interior. In fact my very first impression was that it made me think of those perfumed plastic dolls from the early nineties - to be precise, it reminded me very much of the smell that lingered in those dolls' plastic skirts when you sniffed them after not having touched them for years. Vaguely sweet and floral but most of all incredibly synthetic, albeit in a pleasant way. This must be where the boozy accord is playing its starring role beside the leather, but it's "in disguise". After that phase the scent becomes gradually more exclusively leathery and animalic. Then after an hour or so of that, the iris note starts to shine, and as the time passes and the scents creeps closer to the skin, that's what lingers longest. Very nice, and not what I was expecting at all (although that's my fault for not looking at the note list, which is actually very accurate), but I don't think I need more of it now that my sample is gone.

A leathery powdery vanilla scent. It smells very delicious and it shows a good master behind... I love Bertrand but I can't say I'm happy about this release. First, when I think of l'Artisan I think of: new, different, original, unique. Many of their scents run for favourite in my list. However, in this case I can think of 200 other scents that smell too similar to even bother to describe the differences. Many people say it smells like Traversée du bosphore and I can see the link with its powdery drydown, but come on, that one has many other facets too such as the sugared apple, the subtle pistacchio... they develop differently too... I can't agree on that. In that case I can smell 20 scents and pick the one that only smells like TdB. Here I couldn't do so. Second, I fail to see where is the unisex part here. There are many masculine offerings playing on the narrow line but here... it is too feminine, it reminds me immediately of my granny's face powders and the sort of talcum she used. This may be cultural but to me this is not even close to being unisex. That said: this smells very nice on the ladies. I hope l'Artisan Parfumeur will take again its place on the avant-garde trolley. Don't lose identity please, it's become so hard to differentiate brands lately!

It used to baffle me when people drew a distinction between the smell of leather and the smell of suede. For goodness' sake, thought I, it's all hide! What are all y'all being so nit-picky about? But I've learned from experience (which is really the point of experience, so go me). Suede is less sharp and does its job by adding a fullness that a perfume would otherwise lack, while a leather note is more chemical, harsher and saltier, reminiscent of fires and new boots and outdoorsy hobbies. Skin On Skin opens with a perfect suede with full-bodied saffron right on its heels. Then I get a subtle and slightly sour flower, and over the course of hours' dry down a rich and mildly alcoholic vanilla. Maybe artificial vanilla extract instead of vanilla bean extract? I could do with a bit more sillage, but it's a terrific perfume.

Modern synthetic notes can be weird, in that they can smell totally different to different people and very different from the "official" descriptions (propaganda). This is probably one of those cases, where specifically it is supposed to smell like suede, and safron and iris, but my brain kind of interprets it as bubble gum, though grown up bubble gum with iris. If this makes any sense. I can not unsmell the bubble gum, even if after reading the "official" notes, I can kind of agree, yeah, that is saffron, that is lavender, that is "suede". Just some generic advice, do not blind buy this. I thought I was going to love it (Duchaufour, iris, lavender!) but I am instead baffled by it, I am so glad I got a sample first because I will not be buying a bottle.

This is one fragrance, where...unlike other fragrances I wear that have immediate redeeming qualities, I wear this odd combination of whisky, suede, iris, and a base of musk and while it doesn't come across immediately as this sexy fragrance...I can't stop smelling my wrist. It's oddly intoxicating. I find the initial opening somewhat harsh, but as it settles down...it starts to soften and becomes more and more seductive. I bought a 50 ML bottle of this last year off of Fragrancenet, and I'm thinking I may want to get another bottle before it becomes unavailable. This is an oddly seductive scent....but I can see women loving it...and a memorable one for them at that.

It's more correct to say that I don't dislike it rather than I like it. It was a blind buy, hoping I would get something sexy and refined. It is refined in a strange way, it's like the inside of a new purchased and expensive suede bag. Not unpleasant, but in my head it's not somthing that should be on the skin. The suede and the whiskey are overpowering and a little too harsh on me, and they don't dry down at all. I percieve it as more masculine than feminine so I gave it to my brother. He says it smells like an old gentleman and actually I don't disagree.

I get an orris buttered soft suede wrapped in plastic and booze that seems weird at first sniff. Next a slightly mentholated vibe comes from the lavender and a soapy quality from the musk. These are small nuances to the big iris/leather combo that Skin on Skin is. The cold iris paired with the bitter leather has now a fruity aspect. It's less weird that it was at the beginning and it's somehow cozy. The fragrance shifts again through the dry down to a softer iris musky fruity smell. Scent: 7/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 6/10

A sharp whiskey note to start then iris shows up mixed with suede and it's quite beautiful. There's an earthy feel to it and reminds me of soft leather, yet this is far from dry it has a slight sweetness to it which I'm presuming is the saffron.This was another tk maxx bargain buy for me and I'm very pleased with it. "A bit of leather on skin" would not be a name with a ring to it, but I find it more fitting than "skin on skin". Very nice indeed.

227) Peau de Nymphe A beautiful Leather / Suede + Iris really identical to my nose to the one already created by Pierre Guillaume for Laboratorio Olfactivo, Daimiris. I find it better compound, a iris of better quality, more originality brought by the notes of saffron-alcohol and especially a very good longevity. A very comforting leather almost like a dear leather jaket rolled in a bouquet of irises. The most classic of the three new ones.

My skin agrees with L'Artisan compositions. Skin on Skin is not an exception. It opens with true whiskey note on me. After a while a beautiful suede note and then saffron join the boozy opening . It feels soft and luxurious, extravagant like a designer creation. In its heart the scent softens, and musk, rose and iris play in the foreground with suede taking the back seat. Cozy, adorable, luxurious, special scent for autumn.

I don't know why some of you thinks this is simalr to Traversee du Bosphore. Skin on skin is much more soft, it's a slightly powdery leather. Perfect as a sleep scent. Maybe the best adjective to describe it is delicate. It's the scent of a fairy skin. Poor sillage and longevity

@sdevyatova - may I suggest you sell your bottle and use some of the money to purchase a book on good manners and the art of being tactful and gracious? Perhaps some charm school lessons? 🤨

My first impression was of a shoe store but I do get the doll and new car comparisons. Not sure about this one. It’s very strange but somewhat addicting. 7.5/10

It smells like a new notepad in skin-like cover. And I agree, new car interior. Truly niche! :-) So anyone can tell me where to wear it? :-)

This scent does not agree with my nose. To me, it's synthetic. Something in the composition is nauseating.

I have a sample. -- Strange and pleasant. On me, this is a morphing scent. I think my brain cannot pinpoint what the suede note is supposed to be, so I smell, in waves, the soft bitterness of suede, then a medicinal camphor-ish green-ish scent, then a sort of bubble-gummy sweetness, then lavender, then something powdery and dry, then back to the suede, etc. I can smell the saffron and the rose and lavender quite well. The whisky note is pleasant but fleeting, unfortunately, on me, as I feel it gives it a pleasant edge. After a while the bubblegum note became all I could smell, and it became a scent I disliked. It's a shame. I liked it when it was medicinal or suede-y, but the bubblegum scent turns my stomach after a while. After some 4 hours or so it has almost disappeared, becoming a faint vaguely sweet wisp of a scent, if I put my nose almost directly to the skin. I can see what they were trying to do, and I think I could smell it at first... but then it morphed into something not to my taste. Perfume is personal, and you may be lucky. --- Not an easy scent. Not for blind buying AT ALL.

what an odd scent...i get more of a feeling of pvc (not leather) as it's more rubbery/plasticky smelling, and a bit of sweet powderiness...from the whiskey and iris i guess? something about this smells *so* familiar but i cannot place it. i'm not sure how to feel about this scent...it's definitely interesting and i don't love it but i don't hate it, but still can't see myself wearing this. the rubbery/sweet aspect is just too much on me. i do think it smells better wafting rather than straight on the skin though.

4 sprays- wrists, chest, neck Initial- Very sharp, strong, cough syrup, absinthe/whiskey, iris powder, musky smell with some leather followed by a sharp urine smell. This is projecting far and strong and I was at work, afraid someone will come in and think I smell awful because of the urine note. I like the initial absinthe/leather, but this urine is not pleasing to me at all. I don't understand what's providing the urine scent, is it saffron? 5min- Urine is becoming stronger with doses of absinthe/whiskey here and there. Up close on skin the absinthe smells powdery and beautiful, but the urine is projecting more. 30min- Still smelling the suede/iris powder with a whiff of whiskey and urine here and there. I think the projection has ceased quite a bit. Majority of the projection from before came from the whiskey, which is now just lingering. I wish the whiskey is more prominent with the suede and the urine just disappears. This perfume would be great if that were the case. 1hr- scent is already disappearing. The sharp urine note from before is now a bit softer. Powder and suede are minimally there. I feel a little like a talcum powder wearing older generation lady. Reapplied on hair and wrists. I want to smell the sexy absinthe/whiskey smell, but of course getting the saffron urine, which I hate. I think it's possible to become anosmic to this, because during the second round of sprays I'm smelling less of the scent. 3hrs- Perfume has completely disappeared and left with an occasional whiff of iris/suede and absinthe (from the sprays to the hair). The sharp urine-saffron note has died to something softer and slightly spicier but it's barely detectable. Basically, despite the loud opening, the scent has completely lost its sillage within minutes and the longevity is poor. Scent: 4/10 (this would be a 7 without the urine or saffron) Sillage: 9->3/10 (this began with a bang that everyone around can smell to a skin scent within an hour) Longevity: 3/10 (3 hours tops for this) Conclusion: Not a fan. Perhaps, I love gourmands too much, but this would do better without the saffron but with some vanilla added. Had coworker smell it and make an ugly face. Another said this is meant for 70+ lady.

You're in a mall restroom that's been recently cleaned. The restroom is sandwiched between a Foot Locker and Payless Shoe Source. A little old lady kicks down the door - she's impeccably dressed, but her face is slathered with heavy clown makeup. The clown woman reaches into her her bougie leather handbag, and pulls out a balloon she's made out of a condom. She declares that it's filled with talcum powder and crumbled urinal cakes, and screeches "you're not sophisticated enough to understand!!!" The old geezer launches the condom balloon at you, the motion of her arm wafts the scent of her pancake makeup and stale flowery perfume in your direction. The condom balloon hits you in face and explodes into a puff of crumbly dust. Your nostrils and throat are filled with the taste and smell of greasy latex, plastic-bottled cleaning solution, expired setting powder, and the bottom of her stale leather handbag. When the dust settles, the geriatric jester has vanished...and you're left feeling bewildered at the olfactory cacophony you're experiencing. "You're not sophisticated enough to understand!!!" echoes in your mind as you leave the mall forever. "I'm not sure I want to," you mutter to yourself in the shower later, scrubbing furiously to cleanse the remnants of the experience from your body.

I went to this perfume course a couple of years ago where I got to smell a lot of raw materials and learned a lot about perfumes. We also made our own perfumes with the help of a talented perfumer. I had this idea in my head about what I wanted to make, something very dusty and weird and futuristic. I wanted to make it smell synthetic and strange, and imagined it would be the colour brownish grey. So I used a lot of ambergris, orris root, cocoa powder and some spicy top notes. I was quite happy with the outcome, although everybody else hated it. My perfumer teacher just pulled a face and declared it interesting upon smelling it. Ah well, everyone has different tastes. So imagine my surprise when I went to a perfume warehouse sale recently, where I smelled Skin on Skin and it was so very similar to my own creation. Of course I bought a full bottle, especially because it was for a good price. Now, I do like it, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. It IS weird. P.s. I made my husband smell it and he said it smelled like new car tyres. And now I can't unsmell THAT....

i was front of house normally, during the Summer nights of 1990. but i worked one night on toilet duty, in that busy Sheffield night club. a club that still had bunny girls serving drinks, golden mirrors and a DJ called Stevo, who talked. a lot. when i was being transported home in a local minicab at 3am, this is what i smelled. cab freshener, stale perfumes, stolen fumbles from the previous tipsy back seat occupants, damp hot feet in nylon tights inside leather shoes, underpinned with the smell of dried wee. can I smell Iris and musk? i think so. flowers. no. whisky? no. cheap booze. yes. explosive chemical concoction to begin. yes. interesting. pineapple suede and piss, perfume powdered, lightly sweetened. i waited and realised after several hours, that it was going to remain on the weewee side of smelling nice on me. the most repellant smell i have thus encountered on my perfume journey. my skin smells of an actual pee splashed public lavatory. wow. no thank you.
