Fleur d'Oranger Baie Rose

Why oh why did they discontinue the L'Atelier des Bois de Grasse range? It's crazy to me, because demand for these was pretty high, across Europe and considering that they were drugstore fragrances, they were of very high quality and can easily compete with the likes of Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria series during the summer season and this Fleur d'Oranger Baie Rose, is no exception. I own 4 of these and each one has its own distinct character and this one is aromatic, citrusy, slightly spicy and woody, with decent longevity despite being a cologne. Because, they are no longer available, I use my bottles sparingly,. although I recently found 2 bottles (this one and another) on eBay and promptly snapped them up and if I could, I would have back ups, as these are just so beautiful

This is your uplifting, sunny citrusy French cologne. I wear it every night after a shower. Totally cheers me up!

Ever taken a chainsaw to a lemon tree? Because I have, and this is what it smells like. A lemon tree in bloom, tons of petitgrain and then, surprisingly, the best (and strongest) smoke-like note I’ve ever smelt, along with a frankly intimidating dry musk. Honestly, this whole line should get more love. I know the brand was going for a niche vibe with the minimalist bottles, “luxury” leather caps and wordy, ultra-French write ups, but the low price makes it (I suspect) far too easy for most self-anointed fragheads to dismiss this as another cheap bottom-shelf drugstore creation. All of the scents released in this range are challenging and this is no exception. I would not describe this as an average, summery, citrus-flower. It’s like if TF’s Neroli Portofino grew teeth and then exploded. It’s a soliflore (soli-tree?) in an incense soaked temple, which also happens to be on fire. It scares me a little bit, but I like it.

Finding this range of perfumes on Amazon UK is not that straightforward as some sort of odd translation engine has been at work (I hope!) rather than a human; as a result, most of the perfumes are listed as being by "The Workshop of Fat Wood". A very pleasant light summer cologne, very fresh and a little spicy. It is bracing when I first put it on, but fades quickly.
