Burning For Oud

This is a high end boozy oudy scent. Its very classy and mature. Projection and performance are great.

This was polarizing to me at first but after a few minutes it smoothed and I liked it. I wouldn’t say I would buy a full bottle but I would also probably wear it if someone gave it to me. It is very much Papyrus dominant with a bold but pretty Oud side by side. In sense and Saffron soon settle in softly thereafter. It is strong, intense, but with a natural quality I can appreciate. The spillage is impressive. It also smells great on my husband.

Harsh, ginger opening very apparent and combined with saffron gives an unusual scent, hard to get over. On the dry down a rather vintage arabian peninsula household smell. Brings back childhood memories. Would suit middle aged men way more. The incense note is very strong and sometimes gives of a barbecue of vibe. This wouldn't be something I'd wear to get compliments because I won't. Overall 3.5/5.

It's just a copy of Phoenicia James Heeley, but more natural, dry, woody, spicy incense. the price is worth it 8/10

This perfume definitely smells like a full body red wine at dry down.

Testing blind it opened up very dry and woody, with a bit of a vetiver lean to it. There's also a sense of smoke or incense, but it's slight. After the opening the presumably oud reveals itself more. There's a certain spice element to it, but it feels like a specific spice, not a general blend and many. Looking at the notes now I'd have to say it's the papyrus leading the way, and almost everything is just behind, but I get no rum at all, not a drop. The amber atmospheric, so slight and while noticable in the air, it is not adding any of the depth you think it would. Overall, it's a kiln dry, hint smokey, woodsy scent with a papyrus lead. Nice, but the overt and seemingly uniform dryness of a hot knife burning a little wood model kiln is nostalgic, but doesn't really inspire me. Maybe good for layering when you want to add a dry wood on something else. Longevity was good, so an ok price point. If you live in the woods and a wood burning fireplace is your only heat source, you don't need this.
