Salty Wood

Five minutes of the mermaid grotto in h2o just add water, heavenly, sparkling blue lagoon imbued with magical powers. Gone as quickly as a storm comes over the sea. Replaced by driftwood. Salty. Sunny.....woody...drifting?

Salty and woody. Opens wet and slowly turns to sun dried woods. Light pencil shavings and salt. It's like a drift wood drying by the ocean.

For some reason, it develops on my skin as a musky scent - but not in an animalic way. It’s more like a clean, almost airy musk. This is probably the saltiest fragrance I’ve ever smelled. There’s a noticeable woody base, and at the same time it feels quite ozonic. I do like it, but sometimes it can come across as a bit sharp, and I feel like it would smell quite strange in cold weather. It’s also great for layering if you want to add that musky-salty touch to other perfumes. This is definitely not a sunny, warm beach scent. If I had to associate it with the sea, it would be more of a wild, rugged beach - somewhere rocky, not tropical at all. That said, I enjoy wearing it in the summer. It gives a certain freshness, and there’s even a slight “after the rain” feeling because of the ozonic note. It can feel a bit heavy right when you spray it. Longevity is quite good on me - other people can still smell it several hours later.

Salty Wood truly lives up to its name; it opens with this distinctly salty, mineral brightness that melts into a dry, woody base. It’s very literal, almost like smelling driftwood that’s been washed by ocean air. There’s a simplicity to it that feels intentional, though because of that, I find it leaning a bit more masculine in character. The profile is clean, structured, and slightly rugged in that “fresh wind + sun-bleached wood” way. Compared to Hot Splash from the same series, Salty Wood feels more straightforward and less layered. Hot Splash has that salty-citrus-marine storyline that moves and develops, while Salty Wood stays quite linear the whole time. Still, it’s sophisticated and wearable on anyone who likes minimalist salty woods. Just don’t expect too much complexity, the charm here lies in how literal and grounded it is.
