Tobacco Volute

I thought this would smell similar to TF Tobacco Vanilla-but no, it's interesting how two fragrance that share major same notes can smell differently from each other. This is kind of vanilla that can be used greatly for summer I'd say. Subtle sweetness from almond, slight vanilla and tonka followed with warm whiff of tobacco but not overpowering so if you want something with quite noticeable tobacco this is not for you. I don't know what kind of flower liatrix is but somehow the lactonic floral notes carries the blend. It long lasting, great silage, the reason why I said it's great for summer is because vanilla-tonka notes can be nauseating when wore on hot days. But I did wear it in pretty sunny and humid day, it's absolutely fine, there's no rotten-plastic-burnt vanilla essence smell like when vanilla wears out badly in hot days. Price wise, it's fair with the quality. Tres beau!

Tobacco Volute really takes you on a JOURNEY. For me it started out with a warm vanilla-y sweetness, balanced out with hints of booze, leather, and of course tobacco - sort of a lighter, slightly more feminine spin on Jazz Club. After a couple of hours the heavier scents faded away, leaving behind the soft vanilla sweetness and, out of nowhere, out came the coconut! These mingled together to make a soft, yummy, warm scent that was to die for. Tobacco Volute smells like the one-night stand you meet at a speakeasy but end up marrying. I love this perfume so much and I only wish it lasted longer!! I couldn’t smell it at all after about 4-5 hours. But this scent is so good the reapplication is WORTH IT.

Firstly I have to mention I am not a fan of scents with tobacco in them. BUT this one really surprised me in a good way. Upon first spray I didn't care for it at all, it smelled too earthy for my liking. However once you give it a chance to dry down that is where the magic happens. Wow. You get a beautiful mix of vanilla, slight nuttiness and the tobacco is there but it's more of a supporting role in the background and not so heavy. The whole thing just blends beautifully and I'm dying to get my hands on a full bottle now that I've gone through my sample. I can't say I've smelled anything like this.

with the sun at its highest point in the middle of summer, sitting on a harvested hay bale right by the roadside where many dandelions and other wildflowers grow, eating an almond from a bag every now and then and enjoying the peace around you, looking at the wheat fields while crickets and little lizards rustling around you. After this journey, the scent transitions to a beautiful vanilla that lingers nicely. I think its a very very lovely perfume.

Very pleasing and harmonious combination of notes - tobacco, hay and mate, supported by bitter almond and sweetened (in a non-gourmandish way) with tonka as well as vanilla. Wheat and bran are quite unusual notes but they work very well with the warmth of the tobacco and tonka. A wholly unisex fragrance, to my nose, and wearable for most seasons and occasions.

Initially I wasnt sure about it, but the more I wear it, the more I appreciate it and see what differences it has. Of course it has common tobacco vanilla profile like many, but it is very dusty from the (wheat, bran and almond). Even the hay is giving some dustiness more than being herbal smelling.

Beautiful perfume, dusty but smooth. I don’t get much almond - wheat, tobacco, and a lactonic vanilla are the main notes for me. The sweetness of the vanilla is nicely tempered by the dark tobacco note. Wheat adds uniqueness and a certain naturalness.

I ordered it when it came out in September, fearing that the smell of tobacco would be too overpowering being a girl. But it's just the opposite. The tobacco blends perfectly with the vanilla. The smell is captivating and I can't get enough of it.

Opens with a dusty, smokey tobacco. Then comes a sweet note of almond paste, drying down into a cloud of sweet tobacco. It's beautiful, but not something I'd wear everyday.

Beau parfum unisexe, très agréable à porter. Parfum très doux on sent à peine le tabac. L'amande et la vanille prennent le dessus.

It smells nostalgic to me but can’t pin point to what exactly it reminds me of... I don’t get much of tobacco smell... To me this fragrance smells like warm cup of milk infused with vanilla, with some sugar in it and you’re eating a croissant. It’s a 7/10 Not sure I would wear this very often

Mmmm that’s yummy and quite complex. It’s a dry gourmand scent with dark woody and tobacco undertones. It has s molecular sweetness, which is quite light go nicely with all the other notes.

Pretty and powerful--yes this smells a lot like Bois Doré but to me it's more sweetly herbal. Great, professional Fall fragrance for a man or woman.

Testing this blind I was caught off guard. I thought this was some kind of powdery iris flower mix, with something tossed malty tossed in. I didn't expect these particular notes, though now I find it tonka bean forward, followed by the almond, and then a mix of almost everything else. However the wheat and bran do feel like merely suggestions at times. In little wiffs I get throughout the day, it feels leaning feminine, but decidedly unisex, I think. While there's a sweetness to it, it's pretty mild. Strangely (and this is kind of a stretch), it reminds me of peanut butter haystacks made with dried crunchy chow mein noodles, marshmallows, and peanut butter (Americans of a certain age know these). Clearly, probably closer would be to just roast some almonds, and add vanilla marshmallow, and a infused with tonka bean (where available). Anyways, not that sweet. While not my style, I'm finding this fragrance unique, and recommend trying it out if the notes intrigued you.

A different take on tobacco vanille but with interesting concept I get the almonds pretty early on The coconut is the most potent and prominent note My problem was that I couldn’t smell it past the first hour I mean after 4 to 5 hours my significant other did smell it on me and said you smell like coconuts But i couldn’t get it at all So the performance is good but not to my nose I wasn’t impressed or anything just a good scent and even better if you love coconuts

I really hate the opening on this. It smells acidic and chemical, kind of like cheap cleaning products? I think the bitter almond just really doesn’t agree with me (might also be the mate). The sharpness eventually gives way to a pleasant warm ambery/tobacco scent, but I just can’t get past the opening.

I only smelled it on paper and in the Sephora store but I honestly couldn't really smell anything?! Maybe just a faint vanilla. I am sure if I bought the fragrance and wore it at home I'd smell it better. But smelling it in the store it was so faint that I can't even review it.

Soapy, oversweet and ruined by a lingering tonka bean note that drowns out the promised tobacco. Despite its boast of 92% ingredients of natural origin, it seems oddly synthetic-seeming on my skin. Too female-leaning for my taste. I redeemed it by layering it with Demeter's This Is Not A Pipe, to boost the tobacco quotient and lower its glycemic index in the direction of wearability. By itself, not a Like. Accompanied, more tolerable, but still not a keeper.

It's evil how different this smells in the bottle vs on skin. From the bottle it's so beautiful, but on skin it's like a more cloying and bitter version of Bois Dore... I'm actually kinda put off by Bois Dore now after smelling this :(

What an overpriced primitive vanilla-tonka scent with an anemic tobacco accord. Very long-lasting, very vanilla, very tonka. Pure disappointment if you are looking for any almond notes or for a good tobacco.

The almond note is prominent and quite dry. I like it a lot. I think you have to have some inclination towards nutty-gourmandish compositions in order to like this. It's actually not that sweet, which one might imagine. It has its balance from the wheat, and something slightly, vaguely dusty, floral-aromatic deep in the background. I think the very moderate and well-proportioned sweetness may come from the tobacco? The tobacco is not overwhelming here. It supports the almond very well. Perfectly coupled. The vanilla is also supporting, it does not take over (which vanilla often do). Overall, it's done with great discernment. The wheat also comes through quite clearly, which makes this stand out a bit. Wheat is not something you come by very often. It reminds me of the wheat from Narcisse Taiji , which is of course a completely different story, but the wheat-note is a common denominator. I really like it. I think the wheat is what makes this powdery (along with the almond). In general, like all gourmands, this is quite loud and will fill a room, but in a quite tasteful way. It's not cloying, nor bombastic. I think this is unisex. Not a love, but a strong like. Very good. I don't get any coconut at all, but I can understand where this association might come from.

My favourite perfume. So oaty and warm.. but sharp, not like citrus sharp, but more like.. clean sharp. It must be the almonds. So delicious. Tobacco and tonka heavy, obviously - but Id say its more tonka heavy overall. The hay is fucking amazing. It smells oat like. Vetiver is perfect in here. Wheat and Bran? Sign me the fuck up. This mix is perfect.

Reviewing from my 8 ml decant from Sniph: This smells very similar to Bois Doré by Van Cleef and Arpels. They share the tobacco and bitter almond notes. Nice to see that 2 other users agree with me! This is pleasant but I'm not adding it to my collection, since I have 2 bottles of BD. :)

I love this perfume (owning a free 8ml from Sephora and chose it after sniffing and falling in love with it at the store). Very light vanilla-incense, non-gourmand perfume that is amazing for layering or for days i don't wanna wear perfumes.

It smells like a watered down version of Prada Luna rossa black. Watered down a lot. Not worth the price point at all! 3/10 very weak and this was from an official sample.

Whenever I spray this, I get unexpected compliments.
