Adeeb

I first used Adeeb during the summer months and found it somewhat overwhelming for the warmer weather. Consequently, I set it aside in my wardrobe, only to rediscover its perfect suitability for winter. It begins with a bold fusion of sharp tobacco, sour cinnamon, and a hint of vanilla. This combination, reminiscent of a vintage tobacco shop, is definitely overpowering for the summer's heat but sets the stage for a remarkable transformation. As it warms to the skin, Adeeb reveals a blend of spices and herbs. It evokes an Arabian market, where each turn reveals an aromatic surprise. This stage is comforting like a cup of tea in a herb garden. It finishes with a soft, smoky incense aroma, combined with a gentle powdery essence. This fragrance has a calm aura. Its sillage and longevity are impressive, and it can occasionally feel cloyingly intense. I purchased Adeeb for €15, an exceptional value considering its quality. The price-quality ratio is outstanding. Interestingly, the exquisitely carved out book packaging, valued perhaps even higher than €15, is doubling as a guestbook for perfume experiences at my house, adding an almost invaluable charm. Undoubtedly, one of the most unique fragrances in my collection. While its appeal may not be universal, I have noticed from other reviews that perceptions of its scent vary greatly. It is definitely a risky purchase. Dispelling the common misconception of its comparison to classic men's fougère fragrances, in my view, it bears very slight resemblance to them. Adeeb fascinates with its contrasts and surprises, from quirky beginnings to refined endings. Its distinct composition and transformative nature, forming a blend of madness and genius that make it an adventure. A hidden gem, that's for sure. I love this fragrance! It's like a throwback to the 80's. So I understand why people would say it's like Givenchy Gentleman, Giorgio Beverly Hills, Oscar Del La Renta Pour Lui, ect. It is a patchouli bomb like those fragrances. I would say it's maybe 40-60% like Givenchy Gentleman, but then it has this much more herbal almost soapy vibe like One Man Show, or Sung Homme. Which I guess is why someone said it smelled like Oscar Del La Renta Pour Lui. It also has a noticeable clove note similar to Al Rehab Superman. It's very woody, smoky, spicy, patchouli bomb, with clove, and it comes across a bit soapy, and then after four hours I finally started smelling some oud with the sandalwood. This stuff is awesome, and it's a must have if you love powerhouse fragrances. This is one of the best Lattafa fragrances no one talks about, and maybe the best one off with no flankers(the bottle and packaging was cool too).

In summary, mature, formal, cooler weather. A lighter version of the original (1970s) Givenchy Gentlemen, full stop. The original Givenchy Gentlemen, IMO, was bitter herbal medicine and frankincense (or sandalwood) in the opening, strong patchouli and frankincense (or sandalwood) in the base; it is shamelessly choking and animalistic; put it in the right context: more than two sprays you will be the most avoided person on public transport. However, Adeeb has the same genes minus the "punches". It is for a mature gentleman in a rather formal presence. It doesn't last as long, about 4-5 hours. Really good for the price tho! Did I mention the packaging! I was shocked and then mesmerised by it: the steady/heavy bottle is housed inside a perfectly curved blank-paged book, a bound book!

What a hidden gem, IMHO. I guess if you take the 3 above scents in "the reminds me of..."....and mix vibes/notes of these together...you get the "idea" of how Adeeb smells...kinda/sorta. It does start out like the Coriandre scent above. Then it goes in other directions. In the end, on my skin/to my nose, I get a creamy-ish/greenish aromatic chypre-ish vibe. This is not a beast in projection/sillage...but It smells awesome. The opening is a tad "sharp", which fades rather quickly. I don't get much if any type of sweetness in this scent. The bottle is nicely done, and the box....is like a book...with the bottle sitting in a 'cut out" in the shape of the bottle... the book actually has pages....which is really not necessary, but cool idea !! A great blind-buy for me.

The presentation is excellent, and the scent profile is well-crafted with smooth, refined blending. Lattafa has executed this fragrance impressively. Performance is very good, with strong projection after proper maceration. It has a cozy character, making it especially suitable for winter evenings, particularly while relaxing indoors. The fragrance is highly engaging and consistently pleasant to experience.

Adeeb initially starts off with a Coriandre brightness and effervescence. It quickly transforms into a more complex fragrance with added smoke and dark spices. The smoky leather and oud resin deepens the base and adds a whole lot of sex appeal. I find this quite easy to wear even on this 88F. Very long lasting with smooth (almost creamy) finish. Leans feminine but could be worn by man as well.

The scent is good but it does smell similar to many classic mens frags. The bottle and packaging of this is what’s outstanding. Similar to Giorgio Beverly Hills but much fresher and cleaner, so basically very different. Maybe like a spiced Drakkar Noir in my opinion, between that and CK Obsession. Haven’t smelled the other frags listed. Worth a blind buy.

Came here to write a review, but I notice that Lwjm down below already nailed it. "Givenchy Gentlemen (1974) with a generic ME oud in the base" gets you about 90% of the way there on Adeeb. Now, I love it, but I'd love it even more if the generic oud profile was toned down by, oh, 50%, and the patchouli was significantly ramped up.

I gave this to my boyfriend as a gift, i think its incredibly sexy for a datenight/ special occasion. Not an everyday scent, you need to smell this before buying it.. although i actually blind bought it. Its kind of citrus spice sophisticated oud woody lucious forest man thats high class??

Spicy, woody, oriental, and kinda powdery/dusty barbershop style fragrance. A unique offering from Lattafa that's masculine, mature, and inoffensive. I get 7 hours of longevity, which is great for this kind of fragrance. Immense value for money. I'm really digging this one.

Very close to Givenchy Gentleman original (1974), same dusty patchouli, but with much better quality than current batches. Performance is average, perfect as a signature scent if you like Givenchy ADN.

Sincerely.... This. Just this. The book it comes in. A whole cup of insanity. The smoky sweet powdery herbal insanity of a writer.

Bought it today..reminds me of the old days, like back in my Country. My grandpa kinda smelled like this back then.

I'm not really getting the tobacco, but I like this a lot for nostalgic reasons. It's got the sort of green spicy oeuvre that evokes the Avon Skin-So-Soft bath oil that uhhh some people [ME] used as mosquito repellant at Girl Scout camp in the late 90s. But less sweet and more spicy (although I can't pick up on distinct spice notes). It's nice to have around, and if you're feeling creative but also sort of Live Laugh Love, you can layer it with al-rehab choco musk and smell subtly like hot cocoa with cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, fenugreek, and turmeric. I can't smell the notes in Adeeb by itself, but I can smell them when layered. (Do these notes even exist? Subjectively, yes. Anyway, that's a metaphysical question, and this is a fragrance forum 🙃)

Spicy, dry smoked out ash tray filled with cheap flavored tobacco. Powder bomb. Mild patchouli. Mildly medicinal. A bit cloying. Has a mature, masculine lean. Would be something special if they used better ingredients. Starts to get decent during the heart of the wearing but takes too long to get there. Messy blend but it does go somewhere. Excellent presentation and decent cheapie. That said, I don’t see when or where I would wear this.

It resembles Oud for Greatness to me on the dry down but a bit smoky (burnt) and powdery. It's not bad at all. My problem with this fragrance is that I don't like Oud For Greatness and I stayed the same with this one hahahaha it's just a subjective opinion.

this one is living its own live... very complicated structure ... the results are product of personal opinion with own skin chemistry ...

Yes first few seconds you get Givenchy Gentleman, but then it turns into something nice but very mild. Money wasted thinking it can be Gentleman alternative.

The word "Adeeb" means writer, but it can be interpreted as knowledgeable or enlightened. Well, they nailed it, because i picture this fragrance on a gentleman that is middle aged or older, cigarette in his hand, chilling and chatting with his colleagues that he's known for decades, at the lounging room of a prestigious university like Oxford or a library. That is not to say that its a fragrance only for an older generation, but i can see how many young men would be put off by the scent. In the opening, Adeeb is smoky and very herbacious, smelling this off my hand its almost suffocatingly so. It is fine in colder weather but in the summer it feels too much. After the opening phases, the smokiness diales down but remains present. It has dark spicy and green herbacious facets provided by the thyme but the green-ness is not refreshing or verdant. Coupled with the patchouli, its rugged, evergreen and dry. It is not a typical middle eastern fragrance. The scentprofile harkens back to oldschool 80's perfumery, yet it doesn't feel old. It is as if they wanted to recreate a classic green-spicy barbershop scent but used modern ingredients. An interpretation of oldschool, if that makes sense. In the drydown I find it similar to Lattafa Ana Abyedh Leather, but that one is a bit less smoky and spicy, also obviously more leather oriented. The common theme in them is the bitter herbacious quality. Not unpleasant, but ultra masculine. Personally i prefer Ana Abyedh Leather. Adeeb lasts longer on my skin and wins on presentation out of the two. The bottle might deceive you into thinking its unisex but its far from it.
