Al Azal

Let me start off by stating that I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with the notes listed here on Fragrantica for this one. Now, with that said, This is Possibly my FAVORITE "Leather" forward fragrance, and is one of my top 5 favorite fragrances, full stop, POINT BLANK, and That's including amongst my niche or designers. Al Azal is a BEAUTIFUL, fruity/ "sugary"-semi sweet, Suede/Soft Leather forward fragrance. (To my nose) It has this mouth-watering, "not too sweet" mild-Honey dew melon and Juniper Berry fruityness along with a "Tender/Leather/Suede" accord which I honestly find pretty darm intoxicating and really quite unique, masculine and freakin' GORGEOUS. I'm truley beginning to think it's an original fragrance by Lattafa, and if its not An original, then I havent discovered the original it was inspired by as of yet. Now, although I've read it's inspired by the original Carolina Herrera CH Men which I have NOT smelled, folks on here seem to dissagree with that comparisons as nobody here has voted for CH Men as a comparison to Al Azal. Im tempted to buy CH Men, but heard the reformulation's performance sucks which I hate in a fragrance. Now, I own close to 100 fragrances (WAAYYY TOO MANY, I know) and NOTHING I own smells Like Al Azal. Also, Maceration is a MUST if ya wanna have Al Azal reach it's full potential as far as that Leather accord goes which becomes just a bit more "Anamalic" the more it matures, yet never becoming like a super AnamalicTom Ford "Smokey Tuscan or Ombre Leather" scent (which I also love). I remember when I first got Al Azal at the start of 2024, although it was an instant love, the leather was not nearly as noticable as it is now, and again, I Love, Love, LOVE what smells like sweet Honey Dew Melon to my nose. I see that the notes include Caraway and "Spices" , but this is NOT what I'd consider a "Spicey Fragrance" at all really, it mayyyybe has some soft (barely noticable) nutmeg or something, but definately no warm, noticable spiciness imo. I honestly tried to "Gate keep" this one bc there were hardly any reviews on YouTube aside from Jon Legg's review which is how I learned about this "Hidden Gem", so shout out to his channel, but I guess the secret might soon be out now that it's FINALLY on Fragrantica. I love Al Azal so much that I actually got a VERY rare (in my case) back up bottle outta fear that it may get discontinued bc of the lack of attention it's recieved. Performance is not "Beast Mode", but it does have really "Good Performance" 7 to 8 hours with decent projection and is EASILY noticable on clothing the next day. I think this is great for gentlemen 25 and up, and it has great versatility as well (great for the office). Imo this fragrance is a 10 outta 10 simply bc I really do LOVE this fragrance so much whether it's a Cheapie/Clone or not, its just a great Unique take on Leather. Thanks to whomever took the time to read my review on Lattafa's Al Azal.. and if ya'll like Leather fragrances which are NOT too animalic, then I HIGHLY recommend it (Plus its CRAZY inexpensive) 😉👌 I know I wrote a really long review on Al Azal, and that's it's even just one of the "cheaper Lattafas", but I ADORE this scent and it deserves this much attention imo.

Ive commented on Al Azal before, but just wanted to check and see if its still considered a "Hidden Gem" from Lattafa, and it seems like it is bc there still aren't many reviews for it here on Fragrantica. just wanna say that I get SOOO MANY COMPLIMENTS with tbis scent! Surprisingly women freakin' LOVE thos scent on me. When folks say it has a "Classic vibe," they aint kiddin', but theres a sweetness here that smells so amazing, also the longevity isn't amazing initially, but with maturation, Im getting atleast 7 hours on skin and thats a conservative number tbh. It doesnt have "Beastmode projection" but arm's length atleast. Also, this sorta has a "Gasoline Vibe", nothing like Fahrenheit, but more of a rougher, "Leaded Gadoline" whereas I consider Fahrenheit a cleaner, "Un-Leaded Gasoline. Smells amazing! I own a few Lattafa's, but Al Azal and Mohra are def my faves. An EASY 9 outta 10 Classic-Ish leather scent a la Fendi Uomo!

@tizl THANKS! Im glad this Leather Gem is at least slowly getting (SOME) attention! LOL! I'm up to about 150 fragrances now so I hadn't worn Al Azal in a minute, but wore it today and remembered how much I freakin' LOVE this super unique Leather fragrance, and man it just gets stronger and better smelling the longer I have it! It also seems sweeter (like @tizl menthioned) and the leather is even stronger and smoother! Also, even tho Im now at 150 frags, I STILL havent found anything that resembles Al Azal, so AGAIN, if anyone reading this likes sweeter/leather fragrances just try Al Azal out.. I think its da bomb!😄

@Morenoetrata You are SPOT ON in your review. I blind bought this 2 or 3 months ago, knowing absolutely nothing about it, and first spray I was REALLY disappointed, but as with all scents, let it sit. In recent weeks, I've been using it, and it truly is beautiful now, much sweeter. I'm pretty selective with my leather scents, I don't enjoy very many of them. Ombre Leather is the prime example IMO. And while like you say, Al Azal doesn't completely resemble that one, it falls into my small group of leather scents that I can not only tolerate, but love.

From looking at the reviews I thought this wouldn't be a great performer but I was wrong. Sillage and longevity are great. It's a really nice woody and leather fragrance. You can also smell the caraway, iris and sage in the background. This is definitely blind buy worthy since you can usually find it for less than 20 bucks. 8/10. Lattafa's website has the wrong notes. The notes on fragrantica are correct. Is this really a 2024 release?

Al Azal presents a fresh, slightly fruity composition intertwined with spicy saffron, creating a moist, earthy profile grounded in patchouli and softened by a touch of tangy oud. It is an elegant, light fragrance — far from overwhelming — striking a delicate balance between earthiness and floral nuances. A faint alcoholic sweetness adds a distinctive character. However, the blending of notes feels muddled and imprecise, making it challenging to identify individual components without significant focus. The overall profile evokes a sense of familiarity with Western perfumery, though an Arab-inspired essence subtly dominates. Projection is moderate, offering a subtle but discernible presence, lasting long enough for casual wear, making this fragrance intimate and understated. Slightly masculine-leaning unisex, it suits year-round wear, with its unobtrusive nature adding to its neutral charm. The bottle design is stark and industrial, resembling a fan with metallic (albeit plastic) accents. Unfortunately, the build quality is substandard — issues like peeling materials and a poorly constructed cap make it inconvenient to use. While the packaging concept could have been captivating, the lack of quality execution detracts from the overall experience. Though unique, it has something about it reminiscent of those ordinary drugstore perfumes — the inscription 'Eau de Bleu' on the bottle hints at an attempt to create an unconventional blue fragrance with an Arab twist. With stronger performance and a more commanding presence, it could have been remarkable. I hoped for complexity and a sense of evolution, but regrettably, it delivers both poorly. Despite these flaws, Al Azal is still an enjoyable fragrance. At €10 it offers reasonable value, it's hard to complain too loud. Its mildness invites liberal application, making it a practical choice for overspraying. While far from groundbreaking, the scent is pleasing — it's not mind-blowing, but it earns its place in my collection. I found this for $17 USD and I didn’t hesitate to buy it. I have a weird relationship with leather fragrances, but I like this one because of its uniqueness even though it could remind you of a handful of fragrances. The opening is slightly sweet floral but it doesn’t stay long allowing the caraway and iris play in the background. There’s an animalique note towards the drydown (maybe Oudh). It smells a little bit like kerosene or even diesel but this is just a way to interpret this compounds based on what I have recollected through olfactive memory, to other people it might come across fecal. Every nose is different. This also kinda reminds me of one of the Memo Paris Leather perfumes, not exactly the same but similar DNA(s) and concepts. I have no idea where Lattafa found the inspiration to create Al Azal. Performance wise, It doesn’t seem to be loud projecting though this is actually a good thing...You can always spray more and reapply, longevity will increase but it won’t make it perform more than what it already does, which is better than average.

Got this for like $18 and was honestly surprised. To my nose it smells sweet and spicy and dries down into rich Leather smell with hints of wood. This is definitely a niche fragrance and will probably only be worn when I am also wearing a leather jacket to complete the smell. For $18 it smells great if it was around $50 I probably would pass on it but if you can get it for under $30 I would say get it and have a nice niche fragrance.

Smells good but kind of a cheap smell Its understandable because i paid like $20 dollars so its a "cheapy" I bought Niche Emarati Vintage Castle for $30 and it actually smells niche thats why they say the Niche Emarati line its the best from Lataffa.

The juice is fantastic,the bottle not so much. Highly recommend for the price tag

Being a lover of leather fragrances, i was disappointed with this one. It has macerated for over 2 years, and still no improvement. Rancid leather note and not well blended. Ugly bottle too.

Al Azal by Lattafa ended up being one of my rare blind-buy misses. The scent itself sits awkwardly in between—neither pleasant nor truly off-putting, but also far from anything that feels intriguingly niche. I honestly have no idea for what occasion I would ever wear it. Adding to the disappointment is the cheap-looking plastic bottle, which feels poorly made and detracts even more from the experience. Overall, it simply doesn’t justify a spot in my collection. This is truly one of those you "get what you pay for" moments of old. $17 at Burlington and over a 4 rating here made this a no brainer for me to try. Leather smells cheap and is the most prominent thing I smell all the way through. Other notes are trying to creep in but it doesn't seem to cut it as the leather is too overpowering. Maybe it needs time to sit but based on others who have done that I don't have high hopes that will help. I can't get the vision of a leather factory worker trying to wear cologne to cover the unrefined leather stank out of my head. Sadly this one is a hard pass for me.

Unlike most modern leather fragrances, this smells meaty and animalic. It's like if you sprayed Ombre Leather on a bloody steak. This is not a crowd pleaser in any way, and is definitely more suitable for the 40+ crowd (like me). I love it, but it isn't for everyone, that's for sure.
