Brioche Vanille

Brioche Vanille definitely delivers on our bready promise, but not in a raw, photorealistic sense. Instead, it leans heavily into the sweet, dessert-like side of bread. Think more cupcake or pastry than a fresh loaf of brioche. If you told me this was a scent inspired by cake or pancakes, I wouldn't bat an eye. There’s no standout vanilla note here. It’s more of a general sweet accord that blankets the whole fragrance. The name Brioche had me expecting something a bit more pure and doughy with a hint of wheat or flour, but this is firmly in the sweet gourmand category. From my time reading through fragrance forums and reviews, I’ve noticed that gourmands often get a lot of hate. And make no mistake: if you’re not a fan of sweet, dessert-style scents, you will hate this. No exceptions. But as someone who loves gourmands, I find this one comforting and enjoyable. It smells like vanilla cupcakes fresh out of the oven but the baker rinses their hands with vanilla lotion instead of water. I think it does lean feminine due to the sugary profile, but foods and gourmands don't have a gender. If you enjoy smelling like a warm pastry, wear it proudly. I wouldn't use this as a daily driver, but it’s perfect for cozy nights, comfort, or when I want to scratch my gourmand itch. All in all, a decent value pick for gourmand lovers, just don’t expect realism. If someone ever puts out a truly realistic buttery bread or wheat scent? I’ll be first in line.

The name doesn't match the scent. Why are the ratings so low? Perhaps many gourmand enthusiasts tried Brioche Vanille expecting it to be a sweet vanilla dessert and were put off by the fact that it is not like that. There is a warm, bready or woody smell (pancake batter is a great description!) with amber and vanilla notes, along with a resinous slightly nutty note (a comment below described it as walnut, and that is very close to what I get, maybe walnut soap if there were such a thing). It's original and interesting, not a clone of some popular profile. As a scent it is fascinating, but Lattafas tend to be rated based on how close they are to cloning some expensive offering, and this doesn't seem to clone anything. It has a Serge Lutens tendency, as if there are notes of dates in it. For the price and the overall scent, it's a great experiment with minimal risk, but it is an adventure, not an easy reach. Meaning it smells good but unusual. Very cozy scent for evening or any time you want to relax and read. Kind of an oddball. Glad they took the risk!

Imagine taking a walk through a coniferous forest. You sit down on a bench, pull out a freshly baked spiced vanilla bun that’s still a little warm, and breathe in the crisp air while the sun shines through the trees. A few crumbs fall onto your chunky sweater. That’s exactly what this fragrance is giving me, and while it’s more synthetic than photorealistic, I really like it. Will I use this every day? No, but it’s perfect for when you just want something cozy. Definitely suited for the colder months. Perfectly unisex. Not a safe blind buy because it’s so unusual. Based on a sample: Projection is moderate, which is probably for the best considering this isn’t the most mass-appealing scent. Longevity is solid, about 8 hours on skin.

Day 1 Spray: Lightly sweetened fragrance with a hint of "something". Brioche is bread so maybe it's reminding me of a light pastry scent in a french bakery? Nothing overly sweet or gourmand but just right for someone wanting to smell sweet but not cakes, pies and syrup. I wanna venture to say the notes I'm getting on Day 1 are Brioche, Vanilla, Balsam Fir or Benzoin - not sure which is giving that "what is that note" and Praline. I do love it already! I am looking forward to the other notes (bergamot, freesia and heliotrope) developing after this first spray. I think it is a safe blind buy and you won't be smelling like Vanilla Bread. It's more refined and worth adding to your fragrance collection. ~epk

Wow it has such a good drydown and scent trail. Definitely one of the most interesting fragrances I've ever tried. It isn't exactly what I was expecting, I was expecting a buttery croissant and perhaps that will come out with maceration, but for now it is in a slightly different lane of a more dry maybe rye bread and lots of molasses. Its very cozy and enjoyable to smell. Im kinda addicted. Update: wow about an hour after spraying the baked smell has really started to come out. Its really giving me baguette. Yup Im starting to pick up a buttery accord with the sweet bread. I absolutely adore it. Although I can see why the opening is challenging, it really becomes such a savory yummy bread bakery gem!

This is a gourmand wonderfully done. The brioche note is so unique and so well done. It doesn’t smell like bread, but actually the soft, sweet brioche, but the other notes definitely make it unmistakable that this is a perfume and not some kind of... photorealistic gourmand fragrance. It’s actually quite spicy. Super cozy and wearable. I bought two gift sets of Lattafa, for a total of ten bottles of 20ml minis and after testing all of them on a tester, this was the one that I wanted to wear right then and there. So that should speak for something. This would be great for those that love gourmands, but also for people who just enjoy a spicy vanilla scent.

Be open-minded and enjoy it!!! It definitely does open up with that beautiful maple syrup opening, but then dries down to a more earthy scent. I can still smell the vanilla in the base. I've heard people say this is like the spicy version of Eclaire. I can see it, but just imagine trying to soak up that strong cinnamon sugar scent of Eclaire with some bread. That is what this is like. Like a french toast stick. More subtle, but still a pleasant scent. Lattafa is awesome when it comes to making perfume. If you're very curious like me and looking for a fun scent to try, just try it. I was very hesitant too, but it smells great!

I'm with curlycomedy on this one. I'm in the group that gets all the balsam fir. Piney and almost Barq's root beer vibes. I'm not getting any bread. Definitely unisex leaning a little masculine. I'll keep playing with it in the winter. I wasn't expecting it to be that aromatic. Its my own fault for not reading that it is NOT categorized as a GOURMAND. Update: the aromatics chilled out and the vanilla bread notes come out more. It is still challenging but started enjoying it in cold days in the mornings. Comforting man hug vibes. I would cry if discontinued

This is not a safe blind buy. If you love sweet vanilla, caramel and sugar, this is NOT for you. Do not be fooled by the name. I’ve just received mine and as it’s a Middle Eastern perfume I expect it to change as it ages. But, for now, it opens very boozy, and the booziness last quite a while. I like the sharp booze so no problem there. The dry down is a much softer affair, I get a powdery, maple syrup woodiness. I would say definitely unisex, I like masculine leaning fragrances and I love this.

This is most definitely a gourmand, however not in the current sickly sweet, sticky renditions that are crowding the market. It is boozy and bready, and a little sweet, but I also get I slight salty note that is very reminiscent of fresh baked brioche. I am not typically a gourmand lover due to not liking overly sweet notes, but I really love this. This is lazy Sunday mornings in winter sitting in a cafe, eating fresh baked goods in front of a fire.

I am reviewing this with a cold, which is an exercise in futility, but the horrors persist and so do I. In short: I love it. I didn’t know I was destined to love a bready perfume but I guess it’s proof that if you make something then people will buy it. I smell like a bakery and it’s delightful. This stuff lasts well on me - big performance for a long time. Lovely stuff. A perfume I love, which performs well and didn’t cost me a lot. Excellence.

This is an absolute LOVE for me... straight out of the box!! It smells like syrupy bread sitting atop a wooden cutting board. I think it’s the fir balsam that is helping to mimic the wood note; as well as some oud although the note isn’t listed. There is a complete sensory experience going on with this fragrance. It’s fantastic! I cannot wait for the notes to enrich with time. 10/10 stars from me!

Probably the best Lataffa, in my opinion. I can't get over the smooth blend of notes- how can conifer smell like a bakery???? The most unique perfume in my collection, and definitely one of my favorites; this genuinely smells like a European boulangerie as a perfume- this is not candy shop. Try before you buy, as this is a complex and nuanced take on the "gourmand" category.

Ok I see, the wrong audience is getting hold of this lol this doesn't smell like bread, but I can see why it is misleading, because it's not really a gourmand. This is a sweetened green woody vanilla. It's gorgeous. If you are a fan of Vanilla Planifolia or Infusion de Vanille Prada, you will enjoy this. By no means this is a dupe, maybe even their baby 😁

I actually laughed at this, not that its a bad perfume, but because its so unexpectedly unique. It smells like crushing a walnut while trying to crack it open, point blank. Nothing more nothing less. Performance is a bit shy. Edit: i think i figured this can be a very nice layering tool to bring a mysterious nuttiness under your scents.

I love this. It's smells like yeast based dough for doughnut. And in that it is very gourmand. Very different from anything I've smelled and quite interesting. It lasts over 12 hours on me, but at tge 8 hour mark it because cloying and overwhelming. Don't overspray. Better suited for cold weather.

Best blind buy ever!!! I’m so happy I gave this fragrance a chance — it’s a sexy, mature vanilla. To me, it’s very reminiscent of BBW’s Viva Vanilla (I’m crazy about that one). It has that incredible smokiness and sweetness; it’s not too heavy, but it’s definitely a grown-up winter gourmand.😍

I'm very confused with those reviews here. To my nose it smells very much like seminalis by Orto parisi, but less dirty one. It's very lactonic and sweaty, and has too much vanilla in it. No idea why everyone here can't get vanilla. Gorgeous fragrance !

I do not know how to describe this fragrance, all I know is that I have nothing similar in my collection and I love it! Probably not a safe blind buy, but I believe any gourmand lover can appreciate this wonder. I would purchase forever.

I know this is an unusual fragrance but a 3.28? This is at least good enough for a 4. I agree with the review below me. Its a nice gourmand that isn't overly sweet. Performance is pretty good. Above average for sure. 8.5/10.

Absolutely love this. I blind bought it from Burlington for $30. Not blind buy safe but an amazing fragrance for who it's for. Reminds me of Honey Graham cereal. I wear it to sleep because it's too warm outside for now.

It opens with a bright bergamot but quickly transitions into a yeasty, doughy balsamic cozy warm your skin but better type of scent. I can't think of anything in my collection that smells like this...Love!

It's amazing how the "Gourmand" concept Is absolutely lost in most. Gourmand doesn't mean "sickeningly sweet" but just a food-like smell. This IS a gourmand fragrance that smells like brioche bread.

With this, Lattafa managed to make a gourmand fragrance non-gourmand. This achieves the effect, but by doing so it goes into this weird ultra-niche territory. The scent is dissected into two parts: the gourmand part, the dough of the bread that is about to be baked; the dry vanilla scent, which feels like an aura of a cozy bakery; and the slight praline that complements this illusion of being in a bakery. Then there is this fresh, airy part that starts with slightly sour bergamot (perhaps this is what gives this yeast smell to some). This bergamot is accompanied by florals of heliotrope and freesia, which together with bergamot create this image in my head that I went to lunch at work and decided to go to some local bakery. This perfumey feeling is nailed by the spiciness of balsam fir and benzoin. So this perfume is more about the experience of the scent rather than being wearable.

If you're a sweet vanilla gourmand lover you will hate this perfume. With that out of the way this is a pretty interesting fragrance that I like a lot. I have no idea why people describe this as a sweet pastry filled bakery with vanilla everything or whatever. This is definitely not that. It has gourmand notes without being a gourmand, or at least not a typical one, it's savory, dry bread, with a freshness that almost acts like a musk from the fir, and it gains balance from the vanilla and praline. How I would describe it is if you literally took a piece of dry bread, a fir twig and some vanilla, brought them up to your nose and gave it a smell, it definitely won't wake up your appetite but you'll have an interesting blend of smells to dissect, it's cozy and stays one forever on my scarfs.

Listen, the reviews are mixed and rightly so. To me this smells like a cinnamon roll fresh out of the oven with a sweet syrup drizzled over it. Doughy, gooey, soft, syrupy. It absolutely smells like fresh, squishy bread in a sense. The initial spray is LOUD. I prefer the dry down, which reminds me of a creamy Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal dessert. Odd that there’s actually no cinnamon in here but that’s the vibe I get. Even slightly maple syrup-esque. It’s not my favorite but when I smell it I think to myself I could totally wear this when I’m cooking thanksgiving/christmas/holiday meals. It’s the perfect fragrance for blending in with holiday treats. I’ve worn fragrances that don’t mix with the smells of food around me well... this one would blend in. Hope that makes sense, lol!

On first spray I get yeasted uncooked sour (actual) dough, resting on a cutting board that has been permanently infused with high quality vanilla. As it dries, the dough bakes into brioche with a spicy lift that is a little warm, and a teensy bit fresh. Picture a tiny bakery hidden deep in a dark forest just as a crisp autumn dawn breaks. The vanilla starts to peek out and warm up, weaving through the air without ever becoming sugary. This is such an intriguing fragrance. I like it. It is not giving crumb couture, pound cake, or classic gourmand, but it is not overly fresh or traditionally masculine either. It smells like an odd, but undeniably pretty, niche creation. Definitely worth getting your nose on before committing to a bottle.

If you are expecting a fresh bakery smell , you will be disappointed. The bergamot , fir and benzoin does all the heavy lifting. It smells more like a light fresh fragrance. The vanilla and brioche smell is completely covered by the fir and bergamot. Its more of an alternative freshie. I like it, but it is not a bakery fresh bread smell. There's a yeasty smell initially but that's about it. 7/10

I’m surprised the reviews are so low. I will be honest, when I first smelled it I was confused and disappointed. It smelled kinda screechy and I wasn’t getting any brioche. But over the months I’ve had it it has gotten better and smells so much breadier now. I enjoy getting whiffs of it throughout the day. I don’t know if I would wear it on its own but layered with crumb couture it is DIVINE.

This smells like how I wanted By the Fireplace to smell. This gives the actual sensation of enjoying a bready, nut-filled snack by the warmth of fire. Normally, anything with a chestnut note smells like rancid butter to me - this has no listed chestnut, yet this is the best creation of chestnut ever put to my nose. Roasted chestnuts enjoyed in a log cabin by a fire? Found it right here.

This scent has reverse from confusion almost to obsession in my mind. And I can't even say why. I still get mostly like milkless, saccharine-sweetened thin coffee, but now I've really started to like that. I don't have anything similar, and this makes me feel comforted and very cozy too. I also detect something yeast-like here, maybe it's the bread, hm....

Balasmic vanilla with a hint of minty praline and soft spice. Quite nice and unique than most. Not getting the bakery feel from here as others do. But it does have a bread-like crispness hint to it, mostly from the woody accord. Beaides that this is a unisex fragrance for fall seasons that anyone can pull off. Good sillage and longitivity.

At the beginning, it smells like a spicy sweet walnut cake, very nutty and gourmand, but in the drydown the heliotrope comes in which makes it smell a bit weird...it’s just not what I expected. But because of the opening, I think I will buy a full size bottle. Definitely try it first though, because it smells different for everyone.

Now that I had it in my collection for a while it's time to revisit it. I'm not so sure anymore that this wants to be Jeux de Peau, they're honestly very distant cousins at best. The smell of "Brioche Vanille" is the one of a slighty burnt caramelized bread, it's up to you whether you might like something like that or not.

I really liked this, I bought a sample after so many bad reviews and was expecting the worst, but I loved. I think people had the wrong expectative with this? That is why they don’t like it? Because it is very nice and kind of different, and I don’t just smell yeast, it is well blended to me and enough sweet.

Rye-flour pancakes drenched in rich syrup with a dark coffee on the side and a splash of vanilla creamer. Cozy but off-beat — not your typical gourmand. Woody and nutty, sweet without being sugary, creamy yet bold, dark but not spicy. Full of depth, but probably not a safe blind buy.

I dont know what brioche smells like, but this smells like bread, without the butter, and I love it. It has a good does of vanillic sweetness with it as well. Love its uniqueness, but based on reviews below, it seems quite polarizing. Doesn't seem blind buy safe.

This is definitely not a sweet gourmand, and from my wrist swatch and the test strip I get more of a woody, spicy scent. On my husband I do smell the bread and even a bit of the vanilla, so I’d say it’s better suited for men.

I don't know if my nose is broken, but I don't understand the notes given, nor do most of the reviews about this. Bread? Fir? To me this is a syrupy sweet, loose coffee scent. Nothing else, I'm confused.

Smells like a little kid who's been out all day after eating Maple covered waffles and their hands are sticky. That's what this smells like. I don't know. I like it. Maybe I don't know.

I'm pretty sure this is intended to be inspired by Jeux de Peau. It smells bread-like and yeasty, I really like it but it's quite unique as a smell.

It took me a moment to recognize what I was smelling so strongly in the opening. At first, celery salt came to mind, but then I realized it was angelica, a woody, peppery, green, herbaceous scent. That becomes less intense after about 30 minutes. This makes me think of baking bread in the woods with coals from a campfire, or the wood-fired bakery that was in the city I used to live in. I catch the yeast intermittently, a sweet bread-dough note reminiscent of cinnamon bun dough to me, I've never baked brioche so cinnamon buns is the sweet dough reference I have. I’d call it unisex, leaning a tad masculine. It’s interesting and makes me think of going for a walk in the woods on a winter day, then coming home to bread dough ready to go into the oven. I understand why it’s so polarizing, it most definitely not a "safe" crowd pleaser but I like it and will definetly be rocking it. UPDATE: It's been 4 months and I just do not reach for this I don't hate it, but it's just not an easy wear. I never see this making anyone's favourite Lattafas list, I really do get why it's so polarizing it's a very different fragrance. I do think it is one of those fragrances you "experience" but don't really want to wear much beyond that if that makes sense. I would say get a decant if you can but a full bottle is excessive for how much wear most people will get out of this one.
