Musamam

I bought Musamam because the initial smell, straight from the cap while I tested it in a perfumery, was like in Guilty Absolute, but this character only kicks in later. The opening is intensely juicy mandarin-citrus with bright lavender. Saffron brings a rubbery acidity — if I may call it that — and accentuates a rose-like geranium. I enjoy this kind of saffron in perfumes; as Samasama noted, it adds a serpentine quality. I think most people associate this kind of saffron with burnt plastic or gasoline. Circa 30 minutes in, the pendulum swings, and it smells as if several fragrances were layered: this sweet-fruity opening intertwined with an animalistic facet emerging, alongside an earthy, green, herbal-woody glossy element (courtesy of Akigalawood). In the heart, a resinous incense note becomes discernible. The full drydown settles into a dominant leathery accord. To my nose there's a hint of ambery vanilla, and a perceptible almond sweetness — an almost marzipan undertone that harmonizes the raw leather with a creamy veil. There's a medicinal nuance, too. Projection and longevity are consistently strong. This makes it an ideal choice for cooler months and evening occasions, when a bold sillage is an asset. I'd recommend it primarily for men. The bottle is beautiful and exactly fitting for the scent's character. It surprised me: this isn't at all like the fragrance pyramid suggests, nor does the spray match the cap aroma. It's also certainly not as hardcore & extreme as many have claimed, and the oud here is almost nonexistent. Nor does it fully resemble any of the 'reminds me of' section. It's rather its own composition — clearly inspired, but by no means a clone. A textural tour with a leathery phantom snake skin trail that insists on being noticed. Safe for a blind buy only if you're after a darkish aura and sour vibe. I managed to score it for €18 shipped — if you happen to find that kind of bargain, snap it up without hesitation. This stuff is epic but not for everyone. For me this is a big love. This is all rich woods, heavy leathery saffron, and a bit of incense - So not really something young folks getting bad perfume advise from online influencers would like in real life (hence the low rating) even though they might like the *idea* of a strong masculine leathery “alpha male” scent. I own bottles of both Guilty Absolute and The Serpent, and yeah Musamam is similar but I wouldn’t call it a clone of either. GA smells like what I imagine a grizzly bears balls would smell like after wearing leather pants all day while riding a motorcycle, basically zero chill, and Serpent is that but more refined/smoothed out with some floral/violet? bits added. Both the leatheryness comes first, in Musamam it’s the woods first then the saffron/leatheryness. Performance is great, no slouch. I like layering this with Jean Lowe Matiere, but I’m sure other rose/Oud frags may work too.

So glad to see this one added. It's been a go-to for me on winter night outings for quite some time. This is basically a clone of YSL's M7 (the OG) and a damn good one. There's a slight twist as the opening is much more mandarin-forward but that's quite alright as the incense makes it earthier and not overly bitter or juicy (I'm not a huge citrus lover). The saffron gives that typical leather feel but I don't personally mind that either. Later on, the oud (not a dirty oud, a woody oud) and incense definitely steal the show. It's very long lasting on my skin and lavish smelling at a fraction of the price you'd pay for a bottle of M7. I have to admit being a reptile lover myself, the bottle itself is a conversation piece. Some would seem it tacky or gaudy but personally, it's a centerpiece to my collection and one of the few from "clone houses" I wear frequently.

no, stop trying to find what it's duped for unless it's based on that synthetic piercing oud, Akigalawood. This molecule smells straight like a serpent: cold, ozonic-metal, yet dry. Almost all Akigalawood fragrances like Ganymede, 27 87, and Hedonist fall into the love-or-hate category due to their quirky scent profiles, even skanky for some noses. I think this is true to its name, Musamam, which means 'intoxicated (by venom)' in Arabic. It's minimalistic in flowers or usual base notes; it's a dry wood fragrance. However, it has rather moderate performance on my skin.

This Fragrance is very tricky. It is an amazing manly scent that will blend very well in an environment with lots of leather in the background. Very underrated scent. The bottle is the most beautiful one I’ve got amongst all the lattafas I own. This will perform best in the winter as heat dulls its shine. Don’t blind buy this, it’s targeted towards 30+ males. Imagine sitting on a leather seat in a hotel lobby with a melodious sound in the atmosphere. It is indeed a beautiful scent but not for everyone. Awesome presentation too 8.5/10 for me

Absolutely amazing fragrance; I can see how it can be divisive, as it is not a very mass-appealing scent profile. Especially now, with its newer flanker brother, Black Intense, which is much more mass-appealing profile and could be used on a younger audience compared to this. I really like this but be aware of the notes and be prepared for what it offers because it is not light and unapologetic.

Glad to see this one finally added to the library. I love Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Homme and I feel this is definitely within that realm. It's a nice blend with a strong dry leather hit and added Arabic spice. Hits similar notes to Gucci Guilty Pour Homme and overall a nice addition to any leather collection especially for the price.

Just got this in the mail. I had Musamum white- love- and Musamum black- love the smell but too masculine for me. Got this after a lot of back and fourth but I love it. Saffron is a note I love. Sweet, tad leathery smell from the saffron, smoky wood, but totally unisex if you don’t mind a heavier perfume. Fall and winter wear for sure.

After smelling this it immediately reminded me of Bvlgari Kobraa. I'm pretty sure this is what they are trying to clone and they have done a great job, it does smell like it but it's not as high quality in ingredients and overall smell, which is understandable.

Definetaly inspired by TVOTS by Gucci. Has the same snake kind of smell, it's sexy for a man for me. I liked it a lot. It smels like a villain who is introverted, masculine sexual energy. It falls on the diferent side of perfumes. A night perfume for sure

First of all you should let it maturate for around a month to get a better performance from the start . But regardless the dry down of this perfume is legendary . If you like woody fragrances ... you will love this perfume once it settles

Very Unique, I love it. Perfect for winter and specially if you are wearing leather. It's a formal wear in my opinion.

Absurdly cheap und unusually well-crafted fragrance from Lattafa. Musamam opens with top notes of juicy mandarin, aromatic lavender and saffron. A very friendly, delicious opening. Almost immediately the woody, slightly smoky and leathery base starts making it‘s presence known. While the top notes dissipate, the base notes take center stage forming a very pleasantly round, yet robust sillage. Apparently Musamam was inspired by Kobraa and while you do get the similarities, it has a slightly darker leather note that at certain points reminds me of The Voice Of The Snake. With that being said, it is not a 1:1 dupe of either of these fragrances. What I particularly appreciate about Musamam is that it is easily wearable, has moderate projection, yet very good longevity. It‘s noticeable, but not overbearing. I‘m not usually one to say this about affordable fragrances, but this one truly can compete with niche level fragrances. Every time I wear this, people ask me what I‘m wearing, so if compliments are your thing, this one does the job. If you enjoy woody-leathery fragrances in the direction of Kobraa, this could be a safe blindbuy for you. For the price, you won‘t find better quality.

I don't know if it's duping something or not but it's a very nice leather scent with a fresh opening. During the first hour you can smell this mandarine with lavender with a leather background and then it's mainly leather in the drydown. It's not harsh petrol-like leather but it's not suede either. It's like a good quality, soft leather bag. It's the most realistic leather I smelled recently after smelling many harsh gasoline/rubber scents or very delicate scents that were supposed to be suede but were mainly vanilla. For me it's a masculine leaning but still unisex fragrance. I'm a woman and I can wear it.

This is a very unique smoky ambery winter fragrance, quite resinous, which I really love about. The resinous came from little hint of sweetness of the Italian Mandarin mixed with other smoky dark notes. But for performance, the projection is weaker than I expected, maybe need to let it seat for while. For longevity, its stable. So u just need to spray just a little more to last a whole day. If u like Ameer Al Oud Intense, u will like this too. Compare to Ameer Al Oud Intense, this is alot less sweet and more darker with more resinous.

Leather, evening formal, cold weather. 4 stars, long lasting with heavy projection — the little brother to Musamam Black Intense. I don't know, why people destroy it that much on the different platforms. Smells like high quality - sure try before you buy. I will not regret the day I decided to pull tghe trigger - I got it for $22 a steal for such a high quality scent. It has depth and you feel the presence. If Amougae would have launched it others would be praising it ...

Agent Provocateur meets Ganymede!! This popped up in my mind before even checking the notes, which turned out very similar. Very powerful scent... smokey, deep and woody, leaning more masculine in my opinion. Leather, although it's not listed as a note is obviously present. Don't get shocked by the opening and give it a time to settle. Longevity and silage - eternal!

I expected the warm ambery patchouli of YSL M7. I found the sharp, incense leather of Gucci Voice of the Snake. Yes, initially there is warm amber that smells more like Initio Side Effect than M7, but it fades away quick, leaving the leather of the snake. Nice wintery leather scent, more masculine. "Like".

Look it’s like a mix of M7 and Gucci Guilty Absolute. You get that woody vibe and mandarin you find in M7, and the whole leathery woody vibe of GGA but reduce the patchouli and intensify the woods. Very very harsh tho. So it’s WOODS WOODS WOODS, Smokey leather, oud, and citrusy orange at the top.

Musamam is a really nice warm scent. It's definitely woody and spicy, but not overpowering. The saffron and lavender in the opening are lovely, and it dries down to a smooth, smoky incense. Great for fall/winter.

I blind bought this based on reviews, thinking it would be like Gucci Guilty Absolute, but IMO, It's very different, this doesn't necessarily make it a bad scent. It's much fresher and much more aromatic. The opening took me by surprise and I did not like it at first, but I tried it again later the same day and it's not as bad as I thought. The spice/floral/citrusy combination is very aggressive at first but it mellows down after a few minutes. The leather/wood notes are more "in the background" for me (compared to GGA at least). Overall, I like it and will wear it again. Performance is kinda meh at least on my skin, or I become nose-blind fairly quickly to it. We'll see if this improves with maceration (if that's even a thing). EDIT: I must provide an update on this review, because this fragrance has changed, A LOT. Since my initial review, I tried it a few more times and I was not entirely sure about it. The oud/wood/leather was kind of "stinky" and barely noticeable, while the mandarin was quite pungent in the opening. 3 months later, it's incredible how much more refined this smells. The mandarin is a little bit toned down, and the woods are MUCH smoother right from the start, no stink at all. It's like you smell and old leather shoe that has been stored inside of a wooden closet for a long time. The leather accord is smooth yet powerful, it's a very sober scent, very suitable for formal occasions (maybe even more formal than GGA). The scent remains fresh for the first 30-60 min, and after that it's pure woods and leather. Its projection and longevity have also improved substantially, it's not nuclear, but you can definitely feel it for the first few hours. It's eternal on clothes. I think this would be impossible to wear in the summer. Overall, it's a nice scent but definitely might require maturing for some time. Might be hard to wear.

Initial opening freshness is quickly replaced by a woody/resinous scent. As Musamam dries down, the base scent of leather and some smokiness appears. Overall, I'd classify it as a masculine leather scent. The smokiness gradually disappears and you're left with just plain leather. It's not green or raw, just plain leather. Performance is very good. Was still going strong after 9 hours. Projection is also very good for the first few hours. Given it's price at discounters, Musamam is a very good value. For me, it's OK. Basically just leather and nothing more; kinda boring.

Believe it or not compared to most sharp & synthetic wood/ oud/ akigala perfume on the same lane of notes as these like "Oudian", "Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud" and "Al Absar Saqar" (not on fragrantica) this isn't bad. This is a tad bit less offensive than most of them and is actually wearable which isn't necessarily a big deal. It's a whatever.

Love love love, MWI but OG leans too masculine for my taste (too spicy/woody and that darn Geranium-note my nose consistently rejects). I'll revisit when the weather is colder to see if that'll make it wearable for me.

Man this stuff is awful. A synthetic mess of ingredients. For reference, I own and love both Zoologist T-Rex and Gucci Guilty Absolute. This stuff is nowhere near either of those. I tried multiple times to like this over the course of 3 months, but to no avail. If you check my own/like and reviews, you'll see I like other fragrances with a woody, smoky, industrial profile. I should have enjoyed this, but it was a massive disappointment. I'm finding I don't like the cheap synthetic woody aroma chemicals that seem to be in many fragrances today. So that may be my thing. Nice bottle and presentation... It's likely where over half of the production costs went to. It's a bit laughable that they have an "authenticity" sticker on the case.

It's a bad clone of the discontinued Gucci pour Homme the cubic bottle(woody fragrance), not a clone of Gucci Guilty (leathery fragrance). I don't recommend blind buying it at all try to test it. Get Bentley Absolute the black one which's closer to Gucci PH and better quality and only a 30% increase in price... this one is $20 and Bentley Absolute is $30🤷🏻

To me this is straight up burnt rubber, if I spray this at my counter we all have to walk to the other side and the person who asked typically moves away as well. I wanted it to dry and change a lot but it just didn’t stop stanking for me

heard a lot of good reviews and wanted to try it. thanks god it was not a blind buy, i just tried it in the store. so... am i the only one that can smell burnt plastic, tires and gasoline with mix of “something very very old” ? wanted so hard to like it, but i gagged several times. so this is a no go for me.:( if you like it - good for you, because the longevity is eternal and i can STILL smell it somewhere on me (even though i showered, scrubbed my body from head to toe and completely changed my clothes)😭

Every time I smell this I’m instantly transported to a desert where I’m dying of thirst in the scorched sand. That’s what this feels like. It smells like a lab failure... like how I’d assume a failed test experiment for a Jurassic world dinosaur would smell like. In fact, this may be a better T-Rex zoologist than the existing one because of how absurd it is. This is dry, choking, gross, sharp, and nothing good comes out of it. If you like this, that’s great for you, but I’d have to be paid to wear this

This is such an unpleasant scent, like there is some whiffs of gasoline or some sort of skanky leather which is just horrible and so off-putting. I bought it originally for my mom because of the outstanding bottle design which is honestly a 20/10 like WOW , I tested it, absolutely hated it, let it macerate for two weeks, tried it again, good lord it became even worse, surprisingly my mother tried it and loved it.

Musamam is very impressive, but just a bit too masculine and acrid/leathery for me (a woman) to wear. While I do enjoy leather or smoky notes, this one is a bit too bitter for my taste. But it's still really good and I'd enjoy smelling it on someone else. I get the comparison to almost a gasoline smell, which sounds terrible but I actually enjoy (a classic masculine scent that I DO wear, with that gasoline edge, is the gorgeous violet scent, Dior Fahrenheit). I get a lot of smokiness in Musumam probably from the labdanum and incense. The whole feel of Musumam is like a smoky and cold winter night outside versus a cozy, warm, spicy-sweet evening indoors (that might describe Cremo Spice & Black Vanilla). There is, however, a delicate sweetness in Musumam underlying the cold smokiness, maybe from the geranium, which brings an aromatic rosiness, and from the sweet mandarin. It's really good! Plus, I love the whole presentation -- it's packaged in a faux snakeskin cylinder that opens on hinges like a book and is a heavy glass bottle with gold snake curling around it -- luxe and over-the-top! I'll either be giving it to my son who may appreciate it (he likes cold chypre scents like the original Ralph Lauren and the smoky Lalique Encre Noir), or I'll sell it. If it sounds like you, it's currently a bargain on FragranceNet ($20 dollar range).

I bought this by mistake when I was supposed to buy the white version. It took a while for me to discover that this is a completely different perfume. In the meantime I tested the perfume over and over to find the vanilla and coconut and I was baffled that the reviews I watched on youtube were so misleading. Well, during testing, I started to like the perfume, though I find it quite masculine and usually I prefer really feminine perfumes. But the masculine edge gives me a different kind of confidence. I have worn it a lot lately. I regret looking it up on this page - by the reviews I almost am scared to wear it anymore. Do others really find it that bad? Initially when sprayed it is quite plasticky and gasoline-like, but after a few minutes it settles and becomes the fragrance that it really is. I enjoy the woody spicy drydown. It is a really woody fragrance, smoky, a bit citrussy. I like it enough to have reached for it frequently from my collection. Edit: I really enjoy layering Musamam with a sweet and simple vanilla fragrance. It gives a really nice woody vanilla that is interesting and feminine.

Este é um perfume difícil. Muito escuro e pesado, além disso acompanha um desempenho fora do normal. Vale mais do que é cobrado, com certeza, mas não é uma compra as cegas segura, nem um pouco. Musamam tradicional parece fazer uma brincadeira sinestésica com o couro de uma cobra do deserto. Sempre que o sinto na tampa do frasco da loja que trabalho, me vem a imagem de uma bolsa de couro de ótima qualidade, com um toque incensado escuro nada doce. Sobre as notas, toda essa imagem sinestésica parece ter fundamento. Na saída, eu sinto açafrão, açafrão e açafrão, e logo em seguida alguma coisa que não é exatamente doce, mas também não é amarga, com a nota de incenso, acaba parecendo um pouco um cheiro que lembra café ou a fumaça de algo granuloso. Oud e Ladano perceptíveis. O primeiro puxando a fragrância para o lado mais escuro da terra, e o segundo dando o cheiro realista de couro. É o tipo de perfume que se você usar, ninguém vai entender que é o cheiro de algum perfume, ate cheirarem seu pescoço.

This perfume dries down to the uncannily exact scent of stale cigarette smoke, and while I will likely never wear it on my skin or clothes (too much of a bad thing), I actually do occasionally enjoy smelling this scent on a blotter. It makes for a telling reminder of how very different life used to be back in the 'old days', especially nightlife. ...and whether I think of them as 'good old days' or 'bad old days' depends on my mood. Plus, I always enjoy the camp-drama of gilded serpents on jewelry ...and perfume bottles. Actually, that snake, plus the fact that 'musamam' means 'poisoned' in Arabic, makes me suspect that the perfumers fully intended to make a cigarette smoke fragrance, If so, then deliberately horrendous yet intriguing fragrances are not solely the purview of edgy niche houses.

Oops. I blind bought this instead of the white version. But actually I LOVE woody scents and I actually like this way more than apparently most people. It's not very sweet but it's woody and spicy in the best way. The opening is a bit weird and acrid but that goes away in 30 seconds . I do sense a little sweetness in it too. I think it's unisex. The opening is acrid but the dry down is absolutely 💯 worth it. It's a great ambery wood or woodsy amber - there's an almond note there to my nose at least. To me, this is also not such a 'manly man' fragrance. It's not an oakmossy aromatic DNA Vetiver or anything I associate with quintessentially masculine scents. Solid 4/5

I had this cause i love leather but there was just something assaulting about it, and i think it was either the geranium or the agikalawood. It was a spicy tingy rosy note that was just so sharp that it wouldnt let me enjoy the rest of the composition. Performance is stellar tho! Next-day type of fragrance DEFINITELY and mine wasnt even matured. Definitely uber-masculine, no sweetness at all. The oud in it was pretty dope and animalic too. The bottle was so cool too. Such a bummer that i had to declutter. Musamam you will always be famous :(

Used to have it, wasnt olfactively mature enough for it, sold it, bought it again and its for life now. Reminds me of a dream i once had where i was only the eyes of different animals and i went thru life living temporarily as one animal at a time. This one section i was a hare and got ate by a big snake in one bit, thus becoming the snake. This fragrance feels like that section of said dream. Being the body of a snake from the POV of being a warm blooded mammal logically.

Super solid Leather Niche entry from the brand. Makes Fillipo Sorchenelli step aside a little bit . And all this for $40. Starts like a smell of coache paint. Dries down into smoky leather Its not your typical duty free parfume. Do not blind buy this. Smoky , misterios and little bit icense leather . The performance is super solid 5 + hours A really good !!! niche type of sent

This has got to be the most awful offensive perfume to my nose. I felt like it was literally attacking me. It stuck to my skin and I couldn't get home fast enough to wash it off my skin. I will forever be haunted by this scent lingering. Never again!

Lignum vitae by Beaufort that’s where I was getting the biscuit cake note from. Unfortunately this lattafa doesn’t work for me there’s a soil earthy potato element I find nauseous.
