Opulent Musk

Ok so, I'm not sure what this is supposed to be duping. The reviews constantly seems divided. So if we're going strictly 540,I'll review that. I have the dossier version of 540 and I constantly hear about how similar those two are. While there is minor differences. To put it lightly, I HAAAATE the 540 dossier dupe. If the dossier fragrance is what 540 even remotely smells like, then I don't want it. To me,the dossier version smells like you're sitting in a clean dentists office, and you get whiffs of someone who's been smoking. It's disgusting. It smells dusty, medicinal and ashy. So I've been on the lookout for other dupes, just to see how I truly feel. And oh man. This is what I HAD WISHED the 540 dossier dupe was! It's floral, musky, definitely some funky oud and some clean citrus. I don't get that ashyness I got from the dossier one. This one to me,is way more wearable and likeable. This is a full bodied musk, but still manages to be light,and airy. This also, smells raw,real and quite natural. You're gonna have to love unique smells,and funky ouds to like this one. Compared to a lot of fragrances, this is very easy to wear in my opinion, and would be really great for layering. I think this would shine beautifully in the spring, for sure. ............................................................. Side note, out of all the opulent line. I'll give a quick little opinion for each one. Opulent musk- most fresh, most clean, good amount of citrus. And the most amount of saffron. It's fresh but still has this animalic quality. Opulent Red - The most unique and most strange. It doesn't smell like anything I own. Least safe blind buy. Opulent Oud - The most dark, the most rich, the most amount of oud and sweetness. Opulent blue Oud - The easiest to wear, and the least funky. Minimal oud. Very aquatic. Very mass appealing in my opinion.

JoeyTaylor and Midifire hit the spot on this one. 'Opulent Musk' is NOT a clone of 540 but of 'Precious Oud'/'Amber Fever'/'Instant Crush' by Mancera. As in... it's closer to the Mancera-inspired perfumes, not MFK. I've had at least 3/3 of those perfumes in one point of my life. Firstly, this isn't a fresh scent at all... Looking at the note pyramid I feel there are some missing facets. There is something slightly skanky and animalic in the mid notes, possibly synthetic oud to be honest. Luckily, I don't get the cat pee. This starts off citrusy-sweet saffron (no orange like in 540) and immediately starts to dry down musky-slightly skanky then in the COMPLETE dry down the skankiness disappears. The signature saffron is present all the way. Honestly it smells like a super masculine instant crush! This is actually surprisingly strong with a pleasant silage...the first time I wore this after 3 hours I received a compliment from a stranger (female) outside saying I smelled heavenly. She immediately asked for the name of the scent. Even though I don't NEED this (and I do prefer instant crush/amber fever), I definitely can say this is a winner for me, recommend you try it out!

This is so complex but really good! It smells like a rich lady and is in the same category as BR540 or instant crush. BUT the first time I opened and sprayed it, the top notes smelled like hay/leather, which I’ve read a lot on here. This is actually a very common smell for saffron. Sometimes it’s sweet sometimes leathery/medicinal. But after this Perfume “macerated” (after about a week) it turned into such a beautiful sweet musky resinous amber scent which does smell kind of like BR540. The heavy saffron toned down a lot after the perfume has been “opened” and left a gorgeous sweet and airy fragrance. Nonetheless it’s a fragrance on it’s own because it has a different kind of saffron note that blends with the musk in a very interesting unique way. But people around you and yourself won’t really smell that saffron too much. The musk, amber and resin are really sweet and outdo the saffron a lot when you smell this perfume out of the air, which is what you’ll be doing, when you are wearing it and as it creates a scent bubble. Not a safe blind buy but I wish people would give it a second chance after it stood on the shelf for a little while.

I’m addicted to this perfume! Wasn’t sure it would be right for me as I am bored with the Baccarat Rouge DNA. There are shades of BR but it’s no dupe. Opulent Musk is its own thing. But guys, you must train your nose to recognize and appreciate saffron. The ‘gasoline’ vibe? It’s saffron. Smells ‘medicinal?’ It’s saffron. If you’re going to enjoy Middle East perfumes, then wrap your mind around saffron because it’s magical when given a minute to settle on the skin. Because of lemon in the top note, Opulent Musk has a brightness about it that makes it perfect for year around wear. But the lemon takes a back seat quickly and allows the deeper notes of jasmine and amber to shine. Cedar mixed with the fir note create a deep and interesting base that is unique from mainstream musks. This perfume makes me feel happy and...free. An affordable gem - highly recommended!

I love love this scent. This has a Similar DNA to Baccarat Rouge 540 but its definitely not a Dupe. This has some Citrus to it in the opening notes and a lot of musk which gives this a character of its own. I also get some incense in it? This is more of an inspired fragrance however can be assumed to be baccarat by anyone not too familiar with it. the longevity is Insane! Beast mode projection for the first hour then settles into arm length for the subsequent 7. Lasts Days on clothes. Definitely unisex and a compliment magnet and works great for the day and equally at night. It doesn't have a middle eastern DNA but may come off a little Spicy. This is NOT a safe blind Buy, as I don't think this scent is for everyone. Did not get any of the gasoline I've seen in lots of this comments. Layer this with Soft by Al Rehab, You will looooove it!
