Oud Mood Elixir

I thought I would be challenged by this perfume but I was pleasantly intrigued. The core of it is west oud accord with amber vanille, hence its low price. However the top and middle notes work wonders. The opening is quite camphoric giving me hints of mint scented old lady wardrobe smell, you know the one which gives the impression of a collage of old perfumes. Spicey notes: cinabbon like with a nice hint of saffron making the note rounder-with depth. Woody: maybe it is the sandalwood after all which gives the camphoric feel. Down the road you get a caramel feeling - the scent comes off as gourmand. Interesting and maybe challenging for some people. For the price it is a blind buy afaic, as long as you don't mind wearing something not being a mass pleaser. Not

This wears extremely feminine and well balanced on me with NO trace of barnyard. The woods are smooth and the suede barely registers ... to the point where I'm wondering if claims of animalic stench are just histrionics. Extremely simple but the top notes are blended so perfectly that the they become a mysterious spicy element that lasts all the way through. Lucky me that this works for me because it's so nice that the prices is astonishingly low.

Not sure if those notes listed are correct hmmn. Otherwise pretty damn good Oriental OUD fragrance, pleasent floral notes I can smell lilial or synthetic Lily of The Valley in this along with resins, sillage is only intimate and as far as longevity goes lasts for about 8-12 hours. Its certainly not a boring scent. Bit on the feminine side but still very much unisex, absolute must for those who love a exotic oriental scent like myself.

This one isn't for everyone, but it sure as hell is for me and my brother. Took some from him in a small bottle, smells intoxicating. Nice Oud smell, with that little bit of vanilla. Some people might not like it as per the reviews, but it is a nice scent. 7/10 Might not work for everyone.

Honestly it's not bad, smelling it on me i get what the bad reviews are saying. I sprayed it on my daughter and it smelled pretty good. I'll rate it 7.5/10. You definitely have to like oud to enjoy this. It does have a heavy fecal oud note in it.

Although I have an embarrassingly large fragrance library, I find myself frequently reaching for this bottle; its unique composition intrigues me from opening, approaching dry down, dry down, through total dissipation. Bravo, Lattafa!!

Honestly this is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I actually enjoy it. You gotta like oud to like this because it's very oud forward and it's a synthetic oud.

I was looking for the "Oud Mood | Lattafa / لطافة" perfume online since these Arabic fragrances are not found in Italian shops; I was intrigued mainly by the resemblance they attribute to "Sheikh Shuyukh Luxe Edition | Lattafa / لطافة", which we will see better when I review Oud Mood. Four variations appeared when I typed Oud Mood into the search field, all available at a ridiculous price for a 100ml EDP. I let myself be tempted and blindly bought them all. Like all the pieces of the Oud Mood collection, the packaging and the bottle are lush and very accurate in every detail. For Oud Mood Elixir, the box is a burnished cylindrical tube similar to fine whiskeys, whose cap is hooked by a golden ribbon that keeps it anchored. And the thick glass bottle is blindfolded slave-style with a burnished ribbon of the same color as the box. Not to mention the heavy metal gold cap. Incredible how a perfume paid for around €15 can provide such expensive packaging. But what surprised me the most was the perfume enclosed in the bottle, which I will try to describe. According to the olfactory notes, the fragrance should be spicy, with leather, woody, and amber influences. Why did I write in the title not to get too close to the fragrance? When the perfume touches my skin and mixes with my chemistry, it produces a somewhat unexpected reaction. Oud Mood Elixir announces itself with a strange, bizarre opening and is not very pleasant to my nose. Once the liquid comes out of the sprayer and spreads in the air, a fantastic aroma contrasted by an unpleasant smell assails me. The pleasant side consists of warm and sweet spices with a boozy touch, among which I recognize cinnamon and nutmeg. Their scent is similar to the powder I get when I grate a cinnamon stick and a whole walnut, a rich and intense spice. Cinnamon is dominant and overpowers all other spices. Instead, and I am a little embarrassed to write this, the dark and unpleasant side is similar to the smell of feces, a little animal, and stinky fecal matter. I checked the batch code and production date 08-2022 with expiration 08-2027, so the perfume has stayed good. I documented myself, and I discovered that one of the many ways oud resin can be presented is precisely the fecal, indolic, i.e., skatole. And this is the first time I've encountered this accord in a perfume, actually the second. Thinking about it, years ago, I bought and returned "Pepe Bianco (Eau de Toilette) | Gandini" precisely because this fecal smell was felt at the opening, and I thought it had gone wrong. In low dosage, and if smelled from afar, it has a floral and sweet nuance like jasmine, gardenia, and orange blossom; these flowers contain the character. However, if I smell it too close, the concentrated nature is full of wet-mustiness and smells like poop with a strong animal odor, so pungent and suffocating. So, for at least a quarter of an hour, the opening is a freak, both dirty and pleasant, and to some extent, can lend the fragrance a human, sexual edge, similar to how pheromones work. A quarter of an hour of pure terror, this one scared me more than a little. Therefore, don't let yourself be influenced by my sensations even if the perfume may initially seem repulsive and unfriendly, but at the same time, a small part of me is inquisitive, a little intrigued in a primal way by this dirty, musty, and full of life redolence. It takes half an hour for the perfume to settle on the skin, change direction, and release its true soul. In the heart, the creamy notes of sandalwood are revealed, interacting with the oud's animal ones and those of soft suede. The purely animal side of the oud dampens the raw aspect of the leather quite a lot, making it appear gentle, smooth, and velvety. Now the fragrance no longer scares; it is like a tamed wild animal, a tamed horse. At the base, the sweet spiced notes of vanilla are manifested, with its powdery and powdery sides just enough without crossing the fine line that separates it from being gourmand, supported by a salty and musky veil of amber, once again an animal musk and not at all clean or close to a fabric softener. There is also an earthy side that resembles patchouli's dark and slightly dirty notes, which is not mentioned but can be perceived at times. Now I can bring my nose to my wrists, the indolic aspects have vanished, and I get sweetness and warmth with a slightly smoky edge. The fragrance is completely different from the initial one, intimate and sensual. Having tested all the Oud Moods simultaneously, Elixir has nothing in common with the other three, and at no point did I perceive any similarities. The perfume does not excel in projection, which stands at a moderate value. It is pleasant to the people around us and not offensive at all. Instead, the duration is excellent, and I can feel it after many hours. As far as the season is concerned, I am comfortable wearing it on late autumn days and evenings when the first chills of winter are upon us. After the initial dismay, I conclude that Elixir has turned out to be a beautiful fragrance that takes time to understand and then gives pleasant sensations. I'm basing my feelings and review on a bottle I've owned since January 2023 (PD 08.2022).

Seeing the mixed reactions to this fragrance actually piqued my curiosity, and I ended up purchasing it. I really enjoy the original Oud Mood, so I wanted to understand why this “sister” flanker receives such polarizing—and sometimes even shocking—opinions. To my nose, it smells like the original Oud Mood with a generous dose of saffron and sweet notes—probably vanilla and caramel—layered on top. I also detect leather and a touch of woods. That sharp, prickly note at the beginning is likely saffron. Overall, it feels like various ingredients are stacked onto the Oud Mood base without having fully blended yet. As a result, the balance feels somewhat off at the moment. I can’t yet call it amazing, but I don’t dislike it either. It’s quite strong and projects significantly—one spray is more than enough. I plan to revisit this scent and review it again after some maceration.

It’s interesting how each person perceives and associates certain smell with A or B. To my nose, Oud Mood Elixir is a straightforward suede + oud + saffron perfume. Compares with the og, it’s less sweet and much dryer, with a gasoline-like nuance (don’t be fooled by the name “elixir”). It’s also nothing to do with stinky fecal or dog’s poop like some reviewers have said. I don’t know guys, maybe their dog’s poop and theirs really smell like oud and saffron? 😅 Because my dog’s shit and mine just smell like shit, not even close to this perfume. If you are into sweet smooth oud, you can pick Oud Mood. If you fancy green and moss, go for Oud Mood Reminiscence (silver). What about Oud Mood Elixir? So if you enjoy a light and simple leather oud saffron with lil fresh spices in the background, this one is for you. Overall, it’s definitely not as bad as many have said.

This is a nice leather fragrance that's balanced with spices, amber, and vanilla. I don't find it to be too much, the way other leather-forward fragrances can be. I might buy a full bottle eventually, but for now I'm happy to enjoy the sample when I'm in the mood for some leather.

As you can see by the ratings, this fragrance is all over the board. It is such an acquired smell so its risky to blind buy it but if you really like straight up oud, then it is worth it.

I hate this one. Nasty sour note. Edit: I’m starting to like it now. It’s not as sour as I thought, or I’m just getting used to the scent. The dry down is a lovely musky oudy goodness.

Wow I like this. This is not barnyard at all. Smell it for yourself. I have barnyard oud and this aint it.

I take my review back. After sitting this is very animalic.

The review is based on a sample I got and used. This is an intriguing and a funny one, and based on the reviews, a very divisive perfume. On my dry skin, first I get a citrus note + oud. It is not pleasant but it is not unpleasant either. After 20 minutes, I smell some rose and woody notes. After an hour, the perfume changes into a powdery, woody, smoky leather cocktail - again, the fragrance is not pleasant but not unpleasant, either. The vibe leans more to "the masculine". I must add that the Oud Mood Elixir drydown is nice, as in many Lattafa perfumes I have. All in all, IMO Oud Mood Elixir is an interesting fragrance, but not quite my cup of tea.

The reviews on this perfume totally crack me up 🤣 I’ve had it for awhile and it’s not bad, but there is obviously something in it that to some noses is really unpleasant. I prefer the Oud Mood reminiscence (silver one) though. This one however is a very polarising perfume it would seem! Mines definitely gotten better after sitting in the wardrobe for a year.

Oud mood elixir is spicy, animalic, and leathery oud. It is decent for what it is. Just not my type of oud.

***UPDATE***{ I think I got a bad batch with my first purchase...that gasoline undertone was...EEEWWW. A year later, I purchased another bottle and this one is MUCH BETTER. I smelled a hint of the gasolina...so you know what I did? I put it in the freezer for a few days (enclosed in freezer bag) and it smells SO GOOD now...it's powdery, suede-y, cinnamon-y, oud-y....it's nice. I will be wearing this this winter and in the next fall!} Something about the Elixir just does not go well with me. It smelled like a tinge of gasoline/rubbery scent in the background or foreground...I just could not take it. I tried it on and thought, maybe it would be different during the dry down. NO! I smelled like I worked in an auto repair shop all day and could not wait to wash it off. I ended up giving it away. NOT a safe blind buy. I have the Silver and Original. Not going to try the musk, don't wanna push my luck. I did get the Musk and I LOVE IT!!! I am going to try the Elixir again. I think I got a hold of a bad batch! Ok I got another it is different from the first one. I am going to spray, freeze and let it set...I will update in a few months! Oh, and I did purchase the Musk Mood...LOVELY!

I don't really pick up the fecal barnyard note that a lot of people are mentioning but do I get a ton of nail polish remover. There is also a slightly sour accord, which I'm assuming comes from a mix of the saffron and suede notes. The vanilla must be hiding because I detect no sweetness at all from this fragrance. It's not as repulsive as a lot of people are saying in the reviews, but it is somewhat of an odd scent profile and I doubt many people will ever truly enjoy it. Even at the $15 price that you can find it online it's definitely a skip.

I think I got a bad bottle. Very light musky smell. I mean 10-12 sprays and I barely smell anything.

I'm trying so hard to like this as I liked the others from this particular collection by Lattafa. The Dry down makes it worse. I'm gifting this to an aunty I do not like. Sorry this needs to be discontinued. I'm even angry with myself for buying this. I dont know if its the agarwood and suede together or syntheticism of the whole thing. This is GARBAGE. nobody should smell like this. Smell like a patient that has just been washed.

this smells absolutely foul and disgusting to me. I really like the Initio and MFK ouds so I thought I'd try this one for a more eastern take on oud. But I really really hate it. This smells like a lion's den mixed with a nursing home full of +90 years old grandpas. The odour was so intense with just two sprays I had to take a shower to get it off my skin.

This STINKS like a wet stray dog, at a horrendous Indian bazar that stinks of cow manure and cheap incense, and all the salesmen's wooden infrastructure is SOAKED with piss. Unwareable, even as an air freshener. Worst blind buy of my life. THREW IT IN THE TRASH FASTER THAN A USED TISSUE. 1/10, IGNORE THIS BIOLOGICAL WEAPON AT ALL COSTS!!4!4!!

Okay... this was a blind buy. It’s not a barnyard oud like amouage’s silver oud/king blue, but it smells like a dirty diaper with a built in scent to “block” the poop and pee. but it smells like a failed attempt at that. There’s a redeeming quality and it’s not actually bad, but it’s unwearable in public in my opinion

Whew! This thing here is pure shit. Probably the worst fragrance I’ve ever purchased... don’t allow these folks who are trying to creatively describe this fragrance to convince you into buying. Save your money! I want to try the original Oud Mod buy after this tragedy I’m very weary.

This is my 1st vile oud fragrance --- initially smells like barnyard and while the stench gets milder, it's still a stench. The 0ther 3 OUD MOOD fragrances are so pleasant smelling that spraying this one was an assault to my nose.

So far I hate it. That being said, I haven't had a chance to wear it in the proper weather. I'll revise this once I've had. Super strong and synthetic, one spray max. It just smells like A Lot.

IMHO...LPOME it's not really that bad. Not as repulsive as some of the testimonials here described it to be. I must admit that it is quite strong, the opening reminds me of a brand new nail polish you just opened but more pleasant & natural smelling than the usual harsh chemical assault to the senses. It projects well as it gradually approaches the dry down the stronger the projection gets. Then it goes through the change after 15 to 20 minutes, becomes more medicinal, leathery, slightly harsh & familiar smelling. Kind of reminds me of some similar aspects from more well-known niche medicinal oud or leather based fragrances like TF Ombre Leather, Amouage Interlude Man or PdM Kuhuyan. But it settles down after 20 to 30 mins to a softer, spicy & suedey accord. So If you're used to medicinal oud/leather scents you'll appreciate this more than loathe it. It might also need an additional ingredient to soften & brighten it more, perhaps layer it with a light & airy floral, citrusy, fruity or sweet gourmand scent to balance it out if its too overwhelming on it's own. I don't hate it but i don't love it neither. I knew what i was getting into before blind buying it bcos i did enough research about it. Yes it's challenging at first especially if you're not a big fan of oud or leather scents...but it's definitely like for me. I'm sure i'll fully appreciate it the more often i reach for it & spray it on. Recommended dose ideally for spring, autumn & winter months is 1 spray...it's beastly. 2 sprays might take it towards the edge of overpowering cloy if you wear it in public or at work. Stay tuned for further developments. We'll see how i feel about it after a few more wearings in different situations...will keep you posted. Update 02/10/23: As i get more used to it after a few weeks of frequent use or reach...the animalic/poopy smell becomes more evident in the background upon initial spray but settles down after 15 to 20 mins. I wonder which elements causes this whether it's the mixture of saffron, agarwood & suede because i don't notice any other unusual ingredients in it's official fragrance pyramid, they're all pretty standard notes found in most perfumes to me. As current climate moves towards a much warmer transition, i had the urge to layer it with a light, citrus freshie to dumb down the harshness & intensity to give it more brightness & zing...& it worked. I've created a unique, fresher & more wearable concoction that is appropriate for the changing warmer climate. Lovin my newly discovered combination...it's a banger & it lasts & lasts for hours & days on the skin...maybe even longer lasting sprayed on top of an unscented anti-prespirant or moisturising lotion. 👍🏼🤔

Something about the opening threw me off, too spicy for me. Dry down took a while(about 15-20 mins) but it was more bearable than that opening. I wasn't particularly fond of this initially but after letting it sit for some months OMG!! Absolutely beautiful!😍 I reach for this more frequently now and I will be getting a back up bottle. Longetivity is solid, you'll get about 8-10 hours with this. Projection and sillage is moderate as well. I enjoy it more as a layering scent than as a stand alone tbh. This in my opinion isn't for everybody so it's not something you'd want to blind buy

WOW. I was just about to blind buy this and I thought right before checkout.. lemme check what fragrantica thinks and holy shit you guys don't play! Poop?! Barn yards?! Funny cheese?! One person just wrote "No" 😂 I'm dying! Dead! I'm so happy I didn't buy this. But wait what does a rotten cheese medicinal barn animal smell like anyway? Can't say I'm not curious now. I wonder what the site i was shopping on return policy is? Kinda Wana buy it just to compare notes with you all!

WOW this is SOO BAD I cant help but laugh!! 😂 I dont know if its the tester bottle I used -but this smells like ass, poop, parmesan cheese and feet with some rose oud! LOL!! The previous reviews were not exaggerating! I literally ran around the store looking for a fresh strong perfumes to spray on top of my coat!! Do not spray on you- spray on a card! Its worth a try just for the experience!!! Why on earth would anyone want to smell like this??!! Who approved this???!!

On my Skin, it smells like straight up SHIT. P.S don't spray it on your skin. On my cloth, i smell the cinnamon, nut meg, little earthy, and a nail polish kinda smell (which i like). Maybe it is the blend of the Amber and sandalwood. Generally i like on clothes even though i rarely reach out for it (because i don't want to mistakenly spray on my skin) but i will never spray it on my skin cos all i want to do is wash it out after

It is exactly the same perfume (100%) as ard al zaafaran ajmal ahlaam. Both try, not bad at all, to replicate gucci guilty absolute. Also, in the same family with philipp plein no limits. I have AAZAA. The performance is very good. L= 10-12h, P=3-4h, at a lower price (-25%) than LOMElixir. A safe blind buy for those who love the mechanic-leather kind of fragrance.

This is not anywhere near as gnarly as everyone is making it out to be. After it's had some time to mature it's a slightly medicinal oud+suede. BUT! It does smell different than other perfumes I have with similar notes, so it's definitely doing it's own thing.

The notes given in the description when you go to buy it are Top notes saffron, pimento and rose Middle notes caramel, oud, floral notes Base notes musk, resins, amber and woods There was a couple more that I've forgotten but those are the ones I can remember

Not sure if the tester bottle I used had gone off, but when I tried this it smelled very very strongly of cheese. Medicinal oud in the background, with a sombre floral dry down... and a strongly prominent top note of seriously feety parmesan.

Top notes are saffron, pimento and rose Middle are patchouli, caramel, oud and floral notes Base musk, amber, incense and woodsy notes. Those are the notes listed when you go view it to buy

I don't love it , I don't hate it. Reminds me of alf lail o lail by ajmal. Try layering it with Khamrah

Don't waste your money, it smells like barn yard and nail polish. There are better options out there.
