Petra Viola

First off this is way better on skin than it is on fabric or paper. On fabric and paper I find that raspberry note overwhelming when there are other amazing notes that come along with it. On skin that softens out and the part that makes it smell a little bit like body spray on a piece of paper, becomes more sultry and sensuous. On skin, it's definitely not just a scent for day time or just summer or just spring. I was really worried the cotton candy would make this smell cheap and juvenile and it really doesn't smell like straight cotton candy. It just gives you that fluff and sweetness of cotton candy that lays so nicely over the musk and the cedar and tempers that super bright note of raspberry. I think if you purchase this and you're not expecting it to smell like Mojave ghost and you let it show you who it is by virtue of its own scent notes and its own performance and longevity, I really do think most people would like this. I loved the first Petra and I know that that has been quite polarizing but for me the depth of that blend and how smooth it is is amazing. Viola doesn't go as deep as the first in my opinion but it definitely does bring you on a journey that's brighter. I also think, had I not smelled it for myself, and taken that chance I would have eventually landed on it had to smell too much like maybe a bath and body spray without ever finding out the truth for myself. I like bath & body sprays on occasion, but I do not lean towards them at this point in my life. My son, on fabric, thought it smelled like some sort of fruit juice but on skin, at least on my skin, it warms up and it gets depth. You never do lose that raspberry note you never lose that cotton candy note but it mellows out into this soft cloud of pink. This is definitely feminine and if you're a man who can get away with feminine give it a try but on a scale of 1 to 10 one being masculine and 10 being feminine I would say this is like an eight or nine. Anyways, I'm glad I bought it my collection needed to have a sister to the first Petra and I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of this!

If Lattafa is indeed veering away from dupes and into this territory, they are doing it well with this one. I am a Violet fiend, and have a lot of Violet fragrances... Insolence, Lipstick Rose, and Spiritual Sky African Violet oil are among my favorites so I can confidently compare this to them. I do agree that is is a cousin of Insolence, but it's sweeter. Not teeny-bopper buble gum sweet, but very candied. I actually really like this! It doesn't smell cheap, isnt headache inducing, and develops quite nicely. If you're looking for a sweet berry, candied violet, sugary treat, then you'll likely like this. It is somehow sweet without being too juvenile. Well done, Alex Lee.

This is by far my favorite perfume by Lattafa. Petra Viola opens with a bright burst of raspberry and cotton candy beautifully blended together. It leans feminine but is mass appealing at the same time. This is a lovely fragrance that is great to wear throughout the day and into the evening. It isn’t too strong or overwhelming on the skin. I find you do need to reapply every few hours to maintain the scent level. I will probably go through my first bottle within a month. The price point is great and I love the packaging. The bottle is beautiful and love the color scheme. I’m so glad I purchased this fragrance.

I love the original Petra and was so happy to find that I also love Petra Viola! I LOVE sweet perfume. Upon the initial spray, the scent comes off very clean in my opinion while still very feminine and sweet, but I was a little disappointed that the cotton candy note felt like it was being completely masked by the raspberry note. After letting it sit on my skin for less than 5 minutes the fragrance really develops beautifully and the cotton candy comes out to shine. It is such a beautiful, sweet but still clean scent and so so feminine in my opinion.

Petra Viola is a new love of mine. She is sweet and flirty, like grown-up flirty. She is an easy reach for me, and she gives off pretty girl vibes. To me, she does not smell like any other fragrances I own, and I have many. Yes, she is sweet. Yes, I can smell raspberry, violet, and cotton candy. They blend well and project. She can certainly stand alone, as she needs no help on my skin. She is backup bottle worthy, and I will certainly not be without her in the future.

This is so gorgeous if you love sweet scents. There's a lot of dewy freshness coming from the lilies at the start but it transforms into a soft, fruity, and elevated cotton candy which is so delightful. Definitely one of my personal favorites from Lattafa.

Beautiful delightful perfume I really love it. Not familiar with Mohave gost but some of the perfumes mentioned are not really a dupe of this perfume. But it's worth it. The dry down reminds me of Devils intrigue.

The cotton candy note is subtle and perfect. I have a new favorite fragrance.

I wouldn't classify this as a dupe for MG at all. There are similarities in the drydown, and the fruity berry note is more prominent here, with sparkling raspberry wrapped in soft violet. The pink pepper gives it lift without turning spicy. As it settles, the cotton candy isn't sticky or juvenile. Instead, it creates a glossy sweetness that smooths the florals into a soft, airy cloud. This is NOT a loud sugar bomb. It's a polished, powdery fruity-floral with a silky base. In the extreme drydown, it wears beautifully close to the skin, creating an intimate scent bubble rather than projecting loudly. The cedarwood serves as a quiet anchor, adding structure without ever becoming prominent or woody. Very feminine.

I just tried this and yes its nice but I couldn't put my finger on what it reminded me of. Then it popped, Main Character by Vivamor. The raspberry and cotton candy, Jasmine, sandalwood and musk. The difference I'm getting (I'm a newbie) is Viola is lighter with a very light powdery freshness or crispness -in a very good way. Main Character dry down on me is smoother, creamier and with a deeper profile and the sandalwood is beautiful.

it’s nice on its own, not comparing to anything else......sweet and lite, a lil underwhelming honestly... overhyped but still nice.... nothing spectacular or different... i got this for the cotton candy and it’s in the background so i was a lil disappointed about that but overall it’s a cute fragrance... once it’s gone i won’t repurchase, i have many similar to this dna.... hopefully maceration will help it develop a lil more

I wasn't sure how I felt about this at first but after wearing it for I bit I really like it. Its sweet and floral but not overly so. I normally dont enjoy raspberry notes either but this is done really well.

Well, continued "time-out" is definitely helping Petra Viola. I dislike being harsh, or negative. Yet, if not for its gorgeous packaging and bottle, nothing about Petra Viola resonates with me. I'm disappointed. I had such high hopes because I own/wear/love the OG Petra (loving OG Petra took time; a time out helped). I know Petra OG and Petra Viola share zero in common. A reviewer mentions similarities between Lattafa "Petra Viola" and Guerlain "Insolence." Absolutely, yes! And prior to all the social media noise about a "cotton candy accord," folks were comparing Petra Viola to Byredo "Mojave Ghost." Again, yes! I'm inclined to agree that Petra Viola is more about soft VIOLET notes & musk versus sweet COTTON CANDY notes & sugar. And if I think "yes" to violet and "no" to sweet cotton candy, I find Viola more likable. Petra Viola opens with a tart, strong, raspberry note that dissipates within minutes. PV's opening is sprightly, fizzy and punchy. Petra Viola quickly gives a musty, powdery, non-descript "marshmallow" accord. In its early development on skin, Viola wears in a powdery and uninspiring way with minimal sweetness. The lack of sweetness is surprising to me given the hype Viola receives about its sugariness. During this early mid-phase, Viola gives more powdered custard and stale confectioner's sugar versus anything resembling fruity spun cotton candy. The perfume sweetens up a wee-bit as it develops on skin. The violet note adds additional powderiness and a sweet, woody, light floral accord to a perfume that is already powdery, dry & arid. There's definitely musk in the base. I do not detect additional floral notes. I get a wee-bit of woodiness in the dry-down. Performance is challenging, as everything quickly fades once applied on skin. Sillage and projection are minimal. For now Viola is disappointing. Off to time-out she goes! The bottle is super gorgeous, though.

I wish Fragrantica had a section under "Demographics & Value" for Age. Petra Viola is a very pretty perfume but not suitable for mature women in my opinion. This is a fragrance that I would've worn in my 20s but not now in my 40s because it's too sweet. Maybe the cotton candy note should've been my flag that this fragrance is on the youthful side, but I didn't think it would be one of the most projecting notes. I was hoping for more prominent white floral and violet notes (given the perfume's name), but this is more of a fruity gourmand. I love the original Petra which is much more of a grown woman scent. I'm not a fan of Viola's scent profile on me at this stage of my life, but I see the appeal for others.

Not a dupe of Mojave Ghost Absolu. Rather a fragrance in a similar realm as Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, Daisy Marc Jacob and Mojave Ghost Absolu (in the dry down) etc. It is a truly addictive fruity floral; sweet, candied and sparkling in the opening. Absolutely cream and yummy in the dry down. A gorgeous feminine fragrance with longevity upwards of 24hrs. It’s not beastmode but you’ll leave an amazing fragrance trail. I recommend.

Just got this.. honestly smells VERY similar to Angam Second Song.. less in your face, less deodorant like - but almost spot on ? I'll (hopefully) come back and update on this fragrance once it sits for a bit! I still like it - more than Second Song. I'm just surprised no one has made the comparison.

This reminds me a lot of Insolence. I can see the comparison to Angel Nova. They are cousins, not twins. It’s a sweet, violet fruity scent. Definitely wearable. A little goes a long way. Pretty bottle.

Good fragrance but NOT a dupe of MG Absolu at all.
