Velvet Rose

Update July 2023: I’ve developed an allergic reaction to one of the fragrance oils. Very rare for me. I’ll continue to use it on my scrub top, but will be careful that no skin contact occurs. I’m so sad ! My Velvet Rose is a light watery fresh dewy rose, a modern rose. As it’s a lighter scent, I mostly use it at bedtime or when I’m relaxing at home. I can't stop reaching for it? It’s feminine without being a "pretty" scent, it's not cloying, heavy or mature or complicated. I use this scent more than Maison Alhambra Delilah and Armaf Imperiale because it’s a happy scent, an easy grab, inoffensive and appropriate for any occasion. The scent has a close scent bubble, moderate longevity. The packaging is beautiful, such a pretty presentation, very classy. I’ll definitely be buying it again. I’ve macerated it for a month now and feel the scent has matured enough to give an honest opinion. I'll be buying a back up bottle, this is a LOVE for me.

I truly love this scent! The rose and patchouli combo is so elegantly done and I find myself wishing I'd have sprayed a little more in the morning so I can experience more. Not too powdery but also not sweet and sugary. It smells very organic and luxe. However this is also the first fragrance from a Middle Eastern brand that had disappointing performance. Its a skin scent after 30 minutes and completely gone within 2 hours - which is unfortunate given how much I love this perfume. Another minor detail is that the bottle cap is janky - the plastic "crystal" on the cap keeps falling off randomly and it makes application just a little more hectic than necessary. Overall, amazing scent with no performance. Maybe it'll be good for scent-free environments and people who hate beast-mode fragrances.

As a rose lover, this hits the spot! Ahhh, this is a gorgeous rose that is clean, yet a bit flirty and sexy. The rose starts out shy, with the musk and a small dose of patchouli. Then the rose gets a bit bolder and a bit more fascinating as it embraces a bit of a leathery feel and a very tiny bit of oud (not listed) in the dry down. Throughout, it still maintains a charming, feminine, flirty fragrance without being offensive or too loud. If you try this for the first time, I would suggest you let this stunning bottle sit for a while, then try it again. If you love rose, then you should like this. It's a really lovely fragrance in a beautiful bottle.

Starts out fizzy, for some reason the opening reminds me of an 80s hair salon, but I was born in the late 90s, so take that with a grain of salt. The fizziness goes away in about 30 minutes and then it's this deep forest with roses and earthiness, it's witchy in a cottage core way and it doesn't really change from here. Very simple, but at the same time unique, it's not the common Atomic Rose/Delina/Roses Vanille DNA. The opening is a tiny bit juvenile girly girl, it's not bad, it's pleasant, but I personally don't like it. After 30 minutes it's this powerful witchy scent that I love.

Pleasant scent and I had many people say they couldn’t smell it on me until they got up close and personal. Sits well on my clothes so I’m always happy to take a whiff of myself and see that I’m not funky. The scent itself is rather unremarkable but it’s sweet and soft enough to be worn at work and possibly during the spring...summer, still deciding honestly. The bottle is absolutely gorgeous and I would definitely put it on display once I get a dresser.

An actual iconic fragrance! It’s not gourmand sweet but it’s an Amber sweet. I LOVE Amber so this is definitely for me. The rose note gives it this jammy essence and mixed with the edge of patchouli and the behemoth of Amber makes a well rounded fragrance! The notes scared me but I was able to snag at my local TJ Maxx and I fell in love!!! It’s another fragrance that can be labeled “couture in a bottle” Beautiful scent and longevity is incredible 9/10

I love this, I don’t know why but it reminds me of an Italian summer. To me, it has a sparkling vibe and it smells expensive. Smells like if there ever such was a rosey cola. I personally find it very spring/summer. Judging by the votes, I guess I’m in the minority as most people find this to be more fall/winter which I am confused about! To me, it’s definitely wearable no matter the season. It smells chic, elegant, but vibrant.

Here we have a lady like pink fruity rose forward and oud / labdanum base scent. Has a classic chypre quality to it no doubt due to the patchouli and labdanum, but with a fruity rosey-ness upfront. Nothing remotely similar to a typical floral fruit frag, but there is a juicy rose floral upfront. The other notes really take this for a turn into a more sophisticated take on rose. Sophisticated but modern chypre, feminine, pretty.

I absolutely adore the scent. It's a jammy rose oud perfume that is airy and sweet. This is my summer version of perfumes like Sehr al Sheila, Club de Nuit Intense Woman, etc. The longevity and projection are weak, but I'm not mad about that. Especially at this price. At least, it's not cloying, which makes it summer appropriate. Now, I can enjoy my favorite scent profile all-year-round. I'm very happy I purchased this beauty.

This is a very good fragnance. I like perfumes with a rose scent, and this one is a cold and long lasting rose fragnance. Definitely unisex, I cannot say it is sweet. Very good scent for cold weather. Fragnance is pleasant with elegant and rich projection. I like strong and long lasting scents and this one is one of them. It smells like class and wealth. For me this perfume is a good budget alternative of Armani Privé Rose.

The notes listed are definitely off. This perfume is closer to a chypre with oakmoss and labdanum, it has that dry leathery dry down that's really sexy. It doesn't scream rose, it leans slightly masculine and loud like a good chypre fragrance usually does. Definitely not for everyone, but a good fall or winter fragrance.

I realy like this rose sent. It's airy but not fresh, there's something deeper about it that I can't quite understand but at first I thought it was a leather note untill I read the notes. Just beautiful, the beginning its a little candyish, the middle is rosy leathery and the dry down it gets a little spicier. Wonderful

Stunningly beautiful. Feminine with freshness, depth, warmth. I can see myself wearing this just about any time. I'm in love. The notes listed here are actually correct as per the official Lattafa website : Top Notes: Rose and Patchouli; Middle Notes: Labdanum and Musk; Base Notes: Amber and Musk

I had a feeling I was gonna like this so I blind bought it, and it didn't disappoint. Rose heavy but unisex in my opinion. The labdanum keeps from being too feminine and becomes more prominent as time goes by. It's not overly sweet and has a bit of fruity touch. Great value for money overall.

Are you a fan of Portrait of a Lady by FM or Velvet Rose & Oud by JM? You will definitely like this. Is it a “perfect dupe” of them? No, but it’s a great alternative for them. Recommend for sure if you’re a fan of rose-oud DNA and on a budget.

I'm a perfume collector: fragrances have been my hobby for years. I have a collection of about 400 luxury, niche, and various products. With no doubt, this is my favorite. Someone told me I smell like "Dubai" wearing this. Love, love, love.

The initial spray is spot on Le Vei Est Belle. Just lovely. The dry down lives up to it's name. Velvet rose. It's definitely a gem for the price.

Firstly, I looove the packaging and the bottle, they truly upgrade my perfume stand. So here is my review about the smell (tried in February): I see why people compare it to Portrait of a Lady, the first 10 minutes it does smell sharp, but in a good way, the way a fresh sharpen pencil or a finnish sauna smell. 🧖🏼♀️ But after half an hour I sense some plasticine, as if you would knead it with some jammy syrupy roses. It could remind you of the scent of a lipstick also. The warm plasticine smell could be the patchouli or amber, I believe, which I am not a fan of, but it did not stop me of trying the Lattafa newbie. I have read many times that it does smell like wet, fresh cut roses, which I cannot detect. I think I need to try that baby in spring, and some green notes could come out. Last remarks: Do not let the musky notes disorient you into thinking its powdery. Citrusy-yes. Somehow I believe it could smell nice on a leather jacket. Not a safe blind buy because of the oudy sharp pencils. How in the world does the user under my commentary smell la vie est belle? 🫠

The patchouli is still a little overpowering to me, but all I have done so far is a sniff test on a paper strip, and I haven't given this one enough time to mature. I will say that it's an absolute monster in terms of longevity, at least on paper (I suspect people might get noseblind to it when they wear it--otherwise, the remarks about the disappointing longevity don't make sense to me, unless I just happened to get a super potent batch of the juice, which seems unlikely). I twice sprayed a paper strip with Velvet Rose three days ago, and I can still smell it. It's only slightly fainter, still completely recognizable. If the patchouli were only slightly less confrontational, I think I would love this because the rose is quite good, and I love rose. But most of my Middle Eastern fragrances seem to require a maturation period, and this is probably no exception.

Bought for my mam for mothers day and she likes it a lot. Tried it on myself to test it and it has decent longevity and projection, but not as good as velvet oud - maybe just the batch I bought from (batch M04) because lattafa usually have really good longevity. I didnt pick up much amber, but rose, musk and patchouli are definitely present. This leans feminine but I could imagine there are some men out there that can pull this off. Smell - 4/5 Longevity - 3/5 Projection 3/5 Price - 5/5 Side note - The packaging is pretty good, the fabric makes a nice change from the plastic/card that fragrances usually come in. I find the bottle itself a little tacky but its ok I guess.

I’m so surprised I didn’t see TF Velvet Orchid in the “Reminds Me Of” section. They are sooo similar to me! Not a dupe or a clone but definitely in the same family with the amber and rose notes. I love rose notes when they’re done right, and this is done RIGHT. It’s earthy, it’s floral, it’s dark, it’s warm, with a touch of sweetness. Perfect for cooler weather. I think this would be suffocating in warm weather. This is a heavy hitter, and even though I blind bought it, I would not suggest the same. I will have to update with my thoughts on the longevity and sillage at a later date. But so far so good!

This is a soft, beautiful rose scent. It seems like it may have a smidgen of oud in there even though it is not listed in the notes. It is not loud, at all. Very safe for work, church, and indoor events. I think this will be a good layering perfume with citrius scents such as Opulent Musk. Matter of fact....I am going to try them together! Update...i am a novice...it wasn't oud, but Labdanum that I was smelling...still beautiful and great layered with Opulent Musk!

This one is lovely. Very airy and light rose with a dry velvety base. Almost leathery. With a little touch of fruits it would be amazing. Nothing complex or ground breaking, but excellent for the price. I think it's unisex, however it leans more femenine. You have to love rose to wear it as a man. Good performance on my skin.

Pleasant but faint rose, no oud at all, and not a deep red jammy rose - but rather the pink watercolour type. A gorgeous bottle and case, same style as Velvet Oud by Lattafa. This is light and inoffensive. Gorgeous classic rose. The dry down is pleasant, maybe due to the base notes of amber and musk, still a hint of rose.

Smells mature. The rose and patchouli linger. It gives off very loud Middle Eastern fragrance projection and might not be commuter- or office-friendly (if you're from the Philippines). This is best worn at night.

This is a really lovely rose scent! It's not overly sweet or powdery like some rose perfumes can be. The patchouli adds a nice earthy depth and the amber makes it warm and comforting. Perfect for cooler weather.

This is very heavy on the patchouli, and is not commuter-friendly (I live in the Philippines). Can pass as unisex, it's in the middle, as this is not a very feminine scent.

The opening is incredibly synthetic and harsh but it dries down to a beautiful patchouli rose. Pretty good but not as good as velvet oud.

I bought 6 Arabian rose fragrances to see if they’re any good and I’m disappointed with all of them. This one is not like Rose D’Arabe. It’s like a harmless watery-rose Zara perfume that’s just a bit uninspiring. I like that there’s zero vanilla so isn’t a sickly sweet rose, it’s neutral as it’s more musky-woody and could be unisex. It becomes more powdery over time, but doesn’t really project and remains subdued. On me, the dry-down is like a vintage man’s shaving soap like Old Spice as it becomes so spicy/powdery.

I've been wearing this for 3 days before reviewing, I am only getting woody musk, yes the rose is there in the opening like 10% rose then its already musk and woods, it smells more masculine, it stays on the skin for like 8 hours, I do love rose and musk perfume when they are blended well but this one is NO NO. I don't hate it but its better to layer with sweeter or floral perfumes or body mist, otherwise you will smell like a men who doesn't take shower and is only putting perfume for a week.

I ordered this to have a rose patchouli blend for everyday, but it’s not giving me what I had hoped for. It’s nice and all but I just would compare this to Portrait Of A Lady or Rose d’Arabie or similar. The patchouli is not as present as I’d like and this leans much more towards a department store designer scent profile than anything. Like a rose vanilla amber with a bit of iris. It’s not bad, in fact if a La Vie Est Belle type scent is what you’re looking for, this is probably one of the better options out there — but it’s just really not up my alley.

Tried this Arabic perfume and it looked promising when it arrived. Lovely bottle looks very expensive. However for me a complete no go. For me its very masculine, woody musky patchouli with rose but a strange rose. I did not find it lasted long on me. I smelt like a bonfire garden clearout. Burnt grass cuttings off rose mossy woody oudy mess. I dont think ouds are my thing. Maybe if you like oud you may warm to this scent but not for me.

On my skin this wasn’t a rose at all. The floral vanished instantly and left a loud mix of incense, woods, and amber that read fully masculine. Sharp, smoky, and overwhelming — more like a men’s dark rose cologne than anything soft or feminine. Would love to hear what men think.

Yes initial spray has that rose oud smell but fades fast it’s turns very fruity and drys down to a weak baccarat rouge scent which I don’t like very generic good enough for the price but not my thing

This scent is just flat out bad. It smells really awful. The oud is a barnyard oud, the rose is a terrible example of rose. It also smells musky but it's a lousy musk. Just a really terrible rose+oud fragrance. Oudgasm Rose is so much better, Oud Mood, Shaghaf Oud, Oud 07. My favorite is Rose and White Musk Absolu by Jo Malone which does a fantastic job of combining Rose, musk, and oud. I've never got ahold of Oud Bouquet but I've heard Oud 07 from SA is a good example of that fragrance. This was $20 wasted and thankfully it was only $20 because I'd be pissed if I spent a dollar more on it. I'd return it if I could but I'd have to send it back to Canada and I'm sure it won't be worth it to do so. This was a scrubber for me and I NEVER scrub fragrances off. I'm mad I bought this and I'm not sure what I was thinking getting this now that I'm looking at the note structure. Musk, oud, patchouli, labdanum, and amber? Pick a base and go with it! Instead they decided to just add all of them and it's a mess. It's not spicy, it's not green, it's not jammy. It sucks. I thought at first it was going to be in the roses musk DNA and then this nasty oud combined with a strong white musk and a really terrible rose AND a dirty patchouli. Blah. I'm like, is this a joke Lattafa? At first it's not bad, it's fairly uneventful, but then it dries and becomes this smelly mess. I forgot what I sprayed my wrist with at first and then I remembered and had to come here to see the note structure. Save your coins and skip this. If you want a cheap bright rose, get Silky Rose. If you want a cheap oud rose, get Oud Mood or Shaghaf Oud. Willing to spend some more coin-Oud 07 or Oudgasm Rose.

I specifically registered here only to tell that whoever stated below "you will like this perfume if you like Portrait of a Lady" - has zero clue about POAL, how unique, perfectly blended, delicate and iconic it is. This Lataffa is chemical, dry, cheep and reminds me of tires close to CTO station smell - I can't stand it and absolutely regret buying.

It okay. It has CARDEMOM and LAVENDER which I don't see in the notes pyramid. At first I hated it, now it is just okay. Does not last, does not project. Good quality packaging, great price. I wear it when going to something not important when I dont want to waste good perfume lol

This perfume is very unique. At first, It was off-putting and it smelled really mature almost old ladyish to me ( I'm in my early 20's) so I was a bit turned off by it. But I ended up wearing it for a day and it grew on it. It's a beautiful Turkish delight-esque rose scent with a dark mature amber and musk undertone. I think this a great for everyday wear or office wear, I plan on wearing this to work because it's not cloying, distracting, or offensive. If you can't handle the mature scent to this you can try mixing this with a Brighter rose scent to "brighten it " I think this smells great with Deliliah the Lattafa dupe of Delina. It adds a beautiful tone to this but it definitely stands on its own. The longevity of this is also pretty great, It can definitely last an 8 hour+ work day but I would recommend reapplying mid-day if you want this to really project because it does mellow out after a few hours. This is labeled as unisex, to be warned it does lean very femme because of the sweet jammy rose but absolutely anyone can pull this off if they believe they can! This bottle is also the highest quality most beautiful bottle I have seen for a $19 dollar fragrance.

The first 5 minutes is what I enjoy here most - shy rose (so very fleeting), then leathery saffron and if you really stick your nose in the fabric, you can almost sense a tinge of insence. Maybe that's how I perceive patchouli here. The general aura this fragrance creates is pleasant enough, but very subdued, I think I become anosmic to it very fast - like many other reviewers stated, as well. Past the short initial rose blast the scent becomes more masculine to me. After sitting on the clothes for a couple of days, the trace it leaves is feminine leaning again. Well, sort of. Vaguely sweet smoky rose. The spicy leather-y herbal component of it goes away. UPD: I'm starting to warm up to this scent, if only for wearing around the house, and spraying throw blankets and house-sweaters with. Some reviewers mention letting it macerate for months and expect some miraculous transformation for the better. We'll see.

I have a lot of rose-patchouli perfumes and it's one of my favourite combinations. This is my first Lattafa. Man, I wish I could get what other people are saying about this one. I'm getting a sharp acetone opening that gives way to a faint floral but really still somewhat sharp and acetone-like along with something that is leathery-musky-metallic-citrusy but not really discernable as labdanum or amber or musk. I'm not really sure what it is, but I'm not picking up on any rose at all. I'll let it sit and see if it changes in different weather. Update 10/15/24: mostly leathery labdanum and suede-y saffron. I get no rose in this one at all. It has mellowed somewhat and is mostly a base-heavy leathery frag with a metallic tinge. Warm and masculine but utterly roseless to my nose.

The opening made me want to instantly return this but I waited 20 minutes or so and it bloomed into rosey notes. Very delicate. Absolutely love it and it does smell like Velvet Rose & Oud by Jo Malone. I will leave it to macerate for a few weeks to see if anything changes. The opening was harsh and horrible, idk what notes it were that made it smell like rubber but once those passed... instant love ❤️❤️❤️

I just found this at Marshall's for $20. It's my second Lattafa fragrance. I sprayed it on my wrist and thought something was wrong. It smelled like crazy strong chemicals. But I gave it about 15mins and now it smells amazing! Probably not something I'd wear in warm weather though. And not a scent that should be oversprayed.

The notes on here are incorrect I think. On Lattafa’s Instagram, I found these notes: Top: Cardamom, Bergamot Middle: Violet Leaf, Patchouli Base: Suede, Amber Musk, Oak Moss, and Oud. I’ll be back with an official review but I just wanted to put this out here.

On first spray it reminds me something from either the Lancôme or Estée Lauder line. Slightly dark, sexy, crisp rose. A few minutes in, I detected an odd note (leather?) that reminds me of bandaids but fortunately it faded. I ended up selling it.

This is a harmless patchouli rose blend, very similar with other perfumes that share these notes in their DNA. The musk and amber notes are very fait. If you like La Vie Est Belle and Fatale by Agent Provocateur, then you will like this one.

A saffron patchouli rose. Very similar to rose d'arabie. So perfect for this season. Woody also, but the saffron is very prominent, so surprised it's not listed in the notes. I just got gifted this perfume a few hours ago by a dear friend.😊

Beautiful scent, warm sweet rose. Luxury bottle and packaging! Velvety box, and the bottle glass with glass top as well. The smell to me lasts many hours, and its there, with a very elegant way! It is really an excellent choice!

This is rose-scented incense. I hated it the moment I sprayed it. Even after macerating my sample, it smelled so bad. And it's extremely strong too, I just sprayed it once on my wrist and my entire room still smells of it.
