1988 Vintage Amber-Spicy MYRRH-GRAPEFRUIT-MINT with Sandalwood & Civet. In the first minute or two, before the spray dries I can feel the warm-spicy, aromatic myrrh with its sweet licorice-anise and faint-rubber facets. Once the spray dries and the sillage starts to open up I get the citrus-mint top notes led by pink-grapefruit accented by fresh-spicy & green tones, but the myrrh & amber are already swelling through. As the citrus-mint fades, it transitions to the heart and more floral notes emerge with carnation in front. Rose here shows up more in a rosewood effect, as it mixes with the myrrh & sandalwood. As it's drying down, myrrh & amber deepen with vanilla & sandalwood. Civet & oakmoss pass through the background and add a vintage twist. The overall effect is a vintage amber-myrrh with near-rosewood tones and citrus-mint in the top notes. Reviewers have got it right with the top five rated notes imho: myrrh, grapefruit, amber, mint vanilla. This has excellent performance for year-round wear, but the profile is most appropriate in cooler months. This just gets better with time, both in the bottle and on the skin. Contrast to Dune Dior: These are different, and Roma came out 3 year prior to Dune, but there are striking similarities with citrus, amber, sandalwood, oakmoss & vanilla, although Roma doesn't evoke sand in the way that Dune does. Dune had the woody accord more forward, with the addition of aldehydes in the opening & near-cinnamon in the drydown that give a dry, sandy feel. Roma has the citrus and amber accords more forward, but the combination of myrrh-rose-sandalwood in the drydown Roma has some parallels to the Brazilian Rosewood in Dune Both have above average performance that becomes excellent with dark storage after first sprays. Contrast to Obsession Calvin Klein: These are different, but there is a similar vintage spicy-amber vibe. Obsession and has a more forward cinnamon-spice, while the citruses in Roma are more forward and the myrrh-rose-sandalwood gives a rosewood illusion. Both have excellent performance. Contrast to Shalimar EDP Guerlain: These are different, but again there are similarities with a vintage spicy-amber vibe. Shalimar has more forward vanilla & leather accords, while fresh-spicy green notes are more forward in the top notes of Roma, as well as the rosewood illusion from myrrh-rose-sandalwood. Overall: gorgeous amber-myrrh with citrus-mint & a rosewood illusion, that has excellent performance. This is a longtime love for me. 10/10. Enjoy!

Pleasant, fresh and easy wearing. I picked up this sample seeing the notes as fairly similar to L'interdit - in terms of old-school style, that could be argued but this has a rather different journey. Opens with morish bright citrus, backed by a light pepperiness and fresh green hyacinth. It's very cooling and light - despite being somewhat punchy on first spray. As it dries down it becomes more classic, not necessarily quite what I'm looking for but it's a recognisable scent profile. It's super floral, fairly jasmine and chamomile forward with soap, light spice, light sweetness and rose layered in the back. There is a touch of that citrus remaining, making it feel more clean. Some warmth introduced to the mix by the vague amber and wood allowing the florals to shine. Fully dry, amber, vanilla, patchouli, powder, dust and soft spice. There is some lightly animalic ideas but it's surprisingly warm and homely at this point with much less floral and citrus. Performance wise it's fine, sillage is low (though strong on opening) but may be a touch stronger in the warm months. Longevity is fine, 3-4 hours on my albeit dry tester wrist, and it is a super affordable fragrance - so no harm in needing to respray. To me it reads as very all season suitable - with a very summery opening and more neutral dry down. It is also more unisex that I thought thanks to the dry down! Pleasantly surprised with the journey, and would absolutely pick up a bottom for the days I want something more clean. 9/10 - may not be absolutely outstanding or a truly unique fragrance, but it is a well crafted scent at a good price, that will appeal to those that like the older style of feminine perfumes. Try it out.

„A Roman tribute” Let me be honest: I'm a bottlomaniac. I love flacons that are inventive, interesting, creative, beautiful or just feel great in my hand ... And let me continue - Roma by Biagiotti takes the price... or at least it is to find in my top 5. A well-designed bottle to me is a bottle you remember, that feels right in your hand, and that captures both the fragrance and the symbolic value of the scent and name. Roma has it all. I've been so lucky to have visited Rome and the spirit of the city is definitely in this bottle. Walking among the ruins of what once was The City on Earth craves a certain amount of respect and awe toward the founders of such a place. Roma sums it all up. The scent itself is a marvellous creation, starting out as a citrus-woody-spicy scent. I don't get any mint but the bergamot is lovely combined with the rose, which is actually from the heart notes. For several hours I can enjoy the changing mixture of the heart ingredients and when finally I hit the base (the longevity is more than 8 hours on my skin!), it is just yet one more wonder of a well-composed scent, releasing amber, myrrh and vanilla in a wonderful combination. My husband bought this for me, the first perfume he has ever bought for me... He tells me that when he senses it in a room, he turns his head to look for me. That fact does not make me love it any less. You have to be in your twenties to wear this, in my opinion. This oriental fruity beauty is a mature scent, and you will be noticed when wearing it, since it can be detected from up to 5 feet away, and make sure that this is the signal you like to send, namely: sexy and warm. If not - wear something else

I had a bottle of this when l was a young woman someone must have given if to me as l dont remember buying it. I loved it so much l remember a sweet creamy heavenly smell. I wore it all the time until it ran out and tried finding another bottle and couldn't it disappeared from production in.the UK. I always remembered the name of it and thought about its beautiful fragrance in my youth and missed my roma romance. Now almost 30 years later I'm ahem, cough, cough, much older and with the wonders of the Internet where you can get anything if you look hard enough l took a chance and put it into Ebay and a few bottles popped up l yelped with excitement and got myself a 100ml bottle. These days it smells different to what l remember. I perhaps have long forgotten the spicy citrus grapefruit fresh mint leaves with bergamot blast which honestly l am not a fan of as I'm not a fruity perfume lover but when the middle notes flowers started pushing through the fruity phase l started to like it and then the dry down!!! Now that's the Roma l know and love the friend l missed all these years. The gorgeous vanilla and amber, civet and musk with sandlewood its just beautiful. That's my Roma, a beautiful perfume that starts off zesty and so fresh and spicy it will will take your breath away like it's been bubbling and waiting to burst out of the bottle onto your skin and shouts loud about its presence, but it's all about the dry down with this one. But l I'm pretty sure this modern formulation is much more zest and less creamy vanilla sweet than l remember it, but l can still smell my old Roma in the dry down. I give this a 8/10

When it comes to perfumes I either wear the heavy, dirty, musky animalics or pure florals and when I saw that this one contained a virtual zoo of animalics I knew I had to give it a try. I did find that it was pleasantly sweet, rich and balmy with lots of vanilla and resins like myrrh and amber, but the currant, mint, bergamot and geranium gave it a very unique spicy flair that caught me a bit by surprise, but it is a pleasant sort of surprise. As it dries down the bergamot, mint and currant yield to the more floral heart of lily of the valley, rose, carnation, and jasmine yet effects of the black currant still leave their imprint on the floral heart and the floral heart is also relatively transparent to the woody, musky, amber-vanilla base notes that provide great depth and warmth to the floral heart. Then quite a few hours later the remaining base notes smolder as warm amber, vanilla with the woody tones of sandalwood, but at this point it is to be smelled only quite close to the skin. This is a very nice oriental that really is quite suitable for men or women. I wear it since Roma for men is completely different and I do not like it at all. During the first 5 hours or so on the skin it has good sillage but then draws in closer to the skin as the heart retreats and it lasts long enough as not to require it to be reapplied unless you are going out in the evening and want to refresh it. Although it contains I zoo of animalic notes there is nothing to fear, they all are quite tame. Only the black currant is the scent that some could find a bit unusual.

This is a lovely fragrance! I found it on a flea market site and was somehow drawn to it, so I bought it. I believe it’s a 5ml Eau de Toilette from the 1990s. Looking at the market, it’s interesting to note that there seem to be different distribution routes for this fragrance in Japan. One version is Italian-made, imported by Max Factor. The other is British-made, imported by Doshisha. Maybe they are from different periods. The one I got is the Italian version. Considering I bought this 5ml mini bottle for only $2.50, it probably wasn’t a well-known fragrance here. It’s no longer sold in Japan. Sadly, the number of shops that carry imported perfumes—except for famous luxury brands—has decreased drastically here... I especially love the top notes of this perfume. Bitter orange sparkling over the Mediterranean, and either mint or basil—a green herbal scent. It reminds me of bitter orange trees and fruits glowing under the sun, their thick green leaves... Then comes the bouquet-like middle: not sugary-sweet, but a floral with green leafy nuances. As it dries down, it reminds me of vintage Shalimar, with a powdery sweet vanilla and resin. It smells like ancient stone walls and pillars, still warm from the midday sun, now bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun— slightly dusty, warm, and somehow nostalgic. To me, this is not a scent for the height of summer, but for the time when you can already feel its end. I love it deeply. I wish I had been an adult during the time when this fragrance was still readily available in stores.

My Impressions as a Man of Laura Biagiotti Roma for Women (My girlfriend wears it). I own Laura Biagiotti Roma for Men. Compared to Roma for Women, Roma for Men is noticeably sweeter, leaning more toward a sweet orange sorbet dessert, while Roma for Women feels much more floral and also more mature. Despite its modest price, the fragrance comes across as quite complex and well-structured. It opens with a natural sweetness – a kind of “calorie-free” sweetness – as the ripe grapefruit note is most apparent. After a few minutes, it transforms into a beautiful, pleasant floral summer fragrance. (A fresh, floral summer scent often leaves a better impression than an ultra-sweet, synthetic one). As a man, I find it to be an excellent, beautiful, natural, and authentic women’s fragrance for summer, one that is very easy for women to wear. It doesn’t come across as a seductive scent, but rather as a perfect everyday companion in spring and summer. At first, I found the sillage to be quite strong, but unfortunately it fades rather quickly. Longevity could also be much better – the same issue I have with Roma for Men. What really makes the fragrance convincing are these natural floral notes that capture spring and summer in an honest, authentic, and realistic way. A wonderful women’s fragrance – timeless. It evokes the image of a beautiful holiday in Italy in spring or summer: you smell the flowers, stroll through ancient streets, or relax on the beach and enjoy the sun.

My first choice when searching and learning for perfume profiles as a young newbie. Again am attracted to spicy fragrances that are interlaced with something else. Still like it as much but now the market has so much more offerings, yet haven’t come accross anything like this it has its own profile! Edit: tuesday 7th of May, my attar sample congrigation arrived and I found Oil that is close to Rome: Al Rehaab Rawan, after checking the same items are found in Rome. These attars are ideal way to gradually learn your way into the scent world as Rawan has smaller list I can Begin to identify more clearly what are the individual scents that truly appealed to menin that scent. Also never having gone through Rome ingredients it included blackcurrant- which I defenately adore, a spicy foresty green smell, just like I love tomato fauna smell too very strong and viral scents also Hyacinth!! Which a little bit surprises me as I love having hyacinths for Christmas to me it’s an essential Christmas smell, but I would not think of wanting to wear it as it is maybe soapy and oldie worldie (?) but there it is in my favourite perfume! Then again no wonder I like it so much with the long list of scents that evoke happy memories alone that all blend in together unrecognisable bundle of joy. Which leads me to conclude I may be able to get away with piling up more and more and they WILL work together in some weird and wonderful way that I had not originally even anticipated (?)

Trying Roma for the first time right now..! And it has very good potential for me, I have to say. At first, it is a fresh citrusy blast, with maybe some woodyness. Then after approximately 10 minutes, I started to feel the civet, and was wondering where it would go... And now, maybe yet 20 minutes later, the funny thing for me, which I have never experienced before with any perfume/fragrance, is that I feel like there are parallell lines of the fragrance, twirling around eachother like a stream. And that is absolutely beautiful. I feel the mint, and I could never have imagined it being so lovely as a perfume note. I feel powder. I feel warmth. I feel some sweetness that is of a kind that the modern fragrances never can express. This was a blind buy, and the very best one. I got a very good offering for a gift set with 25 ml edt and 50 ml body lotion. But this is so lovely that I will have to buy the biggest bottle some time real soon!! I have not had this feeling for anything of this genre (soft sensual romantic?) since I discovered how absolutely beautiful the original Tresor was/is, which was about a year ago, a little bit late to the party - I was. So, chances are great, that if you love Tresor (NOT the flankers!!) you will also love this! They are not in any way the same, but they are somehow in the same line. All summed up: LOVE!!!

This was one of my older sister's first perfumes when we were growing up. Can't remember much of what i thought of it then except that it was warm and slightly spicy. Tried out the male version years ago during my first period of collecting and being underwhelmed by the quality. Am now in my second perfume obsession phase and came across it on sale at a local drugstore. The opening is fresher than i remember, mint and bergamot clearly stand out. In the heart the spicy carnation and some demure rose are most noticeable. Complex warm base of myrrh, vanilla, woody and civet comes off as a bit powdery/ dusty and conjures up visions of the sun warmed stones of the old buildings that reside in the city the perfume is named after. Absolutely glorious. Would recommend to everyone who is sick and tired of the current perfumes trends. All those sweet gourmands with either oud or patchouli or nondescript freshies with so much synthetic components my nose just doesn't register. After reading the other reviews her i found out the bottle i purchased is of the new formulation (marbled box). This also explained the slightly chemical and messy opening of the top notes. fortunately i do still love the reformulated version. Did i get back and bought some more? For €22 per 50 ml bottle (Kruidvat in the Netherlands) yes i did.

I was able to get my hands on an old formulation...and wow ... There is some harsh almost animalic opening for the first few minutes ...maybe combo of carnation and pepper..and then settles down to a wonderful, soft comforting blend of patchouli, vanilla, musk, with a very light cameo of rose, citrus, and some type of menthol/mint..that's not quite as fresh or green. This is surprising bc usually I hate edt or edp with patchouli notes with a passion- they usually come forward and are the only pronounced note..but here it's blended and tempered and holds the longevity and plays well with the rose. When I first sprayed I was disappointed bc it smelled like you went to the perfume counter and sprayed 5 different perfumes on at the same time ... But I gave a bit of time after getting dressed and smelled again and was transported. Don't get the old lady smell..but on me it develops and dries down into a soft myrrh and vanilla spiced forward aura. Not sure how the new formulations compare..but the old is rich, resinous, and still maintains the feminine softness that will forever make me a fan. Projection on my body is almost skin scent, lasts for 4-5 hrs. Lasts longer if I layer or spritz on a silk scarf.

I first bought this the year it came out, and I have come back around to it with as much reverence as I had the first time. I just bought a vintage bottle and am so thrilled to have it back in my collection in full size. A tip: If you want the old vintage, look for Eurocos as the producer and don't buy the non-marbled box. If you're buying on eBay and unsure, ask the seller to tell you what the bottom of the box says. For me, this can be worn any time of year but in the summer it's more of a nighttime scent. I get the pungent bergamot, thick myrrh and balsamic notes very strongly, and the mint plays well with the mix of florals. Very Mediterranean, as one would expect. I imagine a hillside terrace after dusk and into the evening hours, sun-kissed terracotta underfoot and urns of herbal plantings growing wild along the balustrade. Tall Italian cypresses and evergreens press close, and citrus groves gleam darkly in the distance, their shiny green leaves and golden fruit reflecting the light of the sun and moon in turn. It's warm and earthy, sensuous and mysterious in the evening - like wandering the woods in the moonlight, an anticipation of adventure.

I have been wearing this scent for the most part of my 20ies, it was my signature scent and all guys loved it on me. It was a scent with depth and projection, the perfect mix of fresh citruses and the sensuality of amber, cinnamon and sandalwood. I loved to wear it especially in spring and it gave me this sense of joy and sexiness. I also had Dune and I thought that they were quite similar but Roma was sexier, warmer in the dry down. In my 30ies I abandoned Roma and started experimenting with many other scents and I went back to it a couple of years ago when I was holidaying in Rome and I thought, why not. Of course it has been reformulated and it is now a bit different, it lacks on depth, and if back then the scent developed for hours changing from the moment you sprayed til the very next day, now it is a bit simpler and flatter, but still very nice. Upon spray it has that kind of Shalimar EDT vibes. The dry down though is extremely similar to Shalimar Cologne EDT and the Shalimar Souffle flankers. Warm, powdery and sexy citruses, amber and sandalwood.

Roma is one of my top ten most favorite parfums of all time, it is indeed timeless classic, seductive and extraordinary! I had it when it came out in 1988 as one of my first perfumes and I still am captivated by it's magic. On me Roma opens with a blast of bitter citruses and noticable thyme notes, a little bit covered in blackcurrant and some sweetness of red fruit. After a while there enters the accord of flowers and herbs - I hear tuberose, lavanda and chamomile. The balsamic, sweet and powdery base accord is heard throughout performance, at the beginning somewhere backstage but as the perfume starts to warm on my skin, it comes more and more forward! I love this perfume in all seasons, but especially in cloudy, misty or rainy summer days, nostalgic, windy autumn days and winter days in advent of celebration!

Roma. I had never come close to this perfume. And the reasons are unknown to me. Worn by someone I think I have never perceived it, even in passing by chance, perhaps at the time I was not attracted to perfume world. Rome, the adored capital. Roma, the magic potion perfume, I love the drydown. The bottle, of an infinite beauty, I think will be much more beautiful emptied of its liquid contents, and I wonder if one day they will modify the cap, perhaps in marble or granite. I'd love to. I decided to have it to delight myself and sink into its base notes, a twilight with a warm and slightly balsamic essence. Awesome drydown. The opening bergamot smooths out its sharp, nearly chemical sides on my skin as temperature rises. Probably because it's blended with hiacynth and lily-of-the-valley, it takes a little time before it melts. Then it's a magic, a delight. Roma does not like my night out and coolness. But summer heat, oh well, it does, and as usual this is my strictly personal judgment.

This is one of the few perfumes that gives me a brief scent vacation. The combination of bitter citrus and mint over incense, amber, and vanilla evokes sunshine on mossy marble churches. In my mind's eye, I can absolutely see what they were going for here: it's that feeling you get when you walk out of a shadowy cool old marble church and squint in the bright Mediterranean daylight. The opening is blended so it presents as a cool refreshing aromatic accord and the warmer base simmers through. The cold/warm contrast is both bracing and cozy while the florals are barely a whisper in the distance. The drydown is a Shalimar-esque powdery slightly leathery vanilla. The latest version feels lighter and sits closer to the skin than what I remember (oh, I miss you, overdone 80s potency in all your civety skanky glory) but the essence is there. It is perfectly representative of sweater-weather spring as the cold damp weather gives way to warmth and sunshine.

I have a couple of minis of this, one of them the vintage formulation for sure. They both start off with a jarring, somewhat spicy-herbal note that could be the fragrance starting to go off, but is probably the intention of the perfumer, as can be gleaned from the various reviews here. This stage is a short one, and the fragrance develops into a muted, low-lying cloud of pleasant woody-vanilla semi-sweetness with a definite citrus character, which, however, never becomes astringent nor too lemony. Lasting power on me is close to five hours. Its low-sillage elegance isn't something I would normally associate with the city of Rome though, despite the rather appealing classical column-shaped bottle. Aside from its obvious worth as an office scent (attending a woman in a pale, impeccable suit and gleaming hair in a chignon), I think this would make excellent signature material, if it weren't so difficult to find. I'm a Laura Biagiotti fan for sure.

Glorious fresh floriental 🥰😍 Florientals are my favorite fragrance genre for autumn/winter, white florals for spring and fresh citruses and greens for summer. Roma strikes a brilliant balance between being both a fresh and floriental fragrance, rendering it both unique and versatile almost year round for me. Everything about Roma is genius from the relevant notes to the temple-column bottle to the marbelled ancient looking box. It truly transports you to some ancient stone street in Rome. You’re strolling the streets in the early morning. The cool air fills your nose with the aroma of some nearby citrus orchards, the mint planted in most window sills, and the flowers on both sides of the streets. The mild smell of incense and myrrh waft from a small chapel a few blocks away. You open your arms wide and inhale deeply as a wide smile lights up your face. The moment is engraved in your memory and so is the fragrance. A masterpiece 🥰

The rest of the world may not be familiar with the cult status this fragrance was enjoying in Europe in the 1990s, together with other Biagiotti creations. Before it was reformulated, this was a truly unique, warm ambery scent with an aromatic opening and some animalic components to it. This opening with mint and citrus rounded up with some black currant is truly unforgettable and it only gets better with its sweet, resinous drydown. The new Roma still has that DNA, but I find the new version of Roma slightly sharper in the opening and a little less complex in the drydown. Clearly, the civet has been removed from the reformulation. Roma is an ode to Renaissance Italy, opulent, rich and refreshing. I would say it was ahead of its time, but many old fragrances were so much better than what we get today. I wish the quality and originality of the designer frags was on point now as it was in the 1990s.

I LOVE this! Autumn in a bottle!! CK without the men’s cologne notes. At the start the grapefruit (my nose read pineapple) can be off putting, but give it 10-15 minutes and OH MY GOD!! Best kept secret in the world I feel like! It’s got those cozy cinnamon / fall / Christmas spices going on, a nice well rounded vanillic-amber base and a Smokey veil. Sweet (caramel-amber accord) but not too sweet. Not chemically or candy sweet. It’s a chique and sophisticated blend and yet soooo cozy and makes you want to drink a chai latte or hot coco/ hot wine with cinnamon while it rains outside. Everything I love! It’s so cozy! 🍂🍁🥮 Top of the shelf, ordering backup straight away! I used to see this in shops ALL the time as a teenager, I never tried it because the bottle reminded me of another fragrance that I didn’t like so I got the two confused 😳 Boy was I missing out. Only discover the glory now at 38.

Although not my usual type of scent, I have three perfumes in this class. Dior's Dune, which is very similar to Roma, and Lutens' Chergui, which is not. Roma is the most casually wearable and wears down to quite a soft, perfumey scent that evokes strolling around a hot, dusty city (yes, Rome!). I really enjoy the uniqueness of the mint note in the opening. It's an Italian, super elegant, smartly dressed, lipstick wearing city woman type of scent, though. Dune evokes sand more than stone, so parchments in the desert spring to mind, it's more evocative and mysterious. Chergui is hay and honey, spicy, sweet tobacco - an expensive roll in a barn! They all have one thing in common - amber that warms the skin and evokes summer and heat. Chergui is timeless, Dune and Roma definitely feel late 80s/early 90s. Nevertheless, it is the lovely, minty Roma I reach for the most.

Roma is Shalimar's grown grandchild in a bathing suit, licking a cool and refreshing set of creamsicles, grapefruit and orange blossom flavored, washing them down with a bergamot mojito while a breeze brings windswept, sandy carnations and beach roses. It's a mouthwatering, astringent summer jouissance of an amber, offering up an enveloping sunset glow of myrrh and vanilla with just the slightest carnal tang deep within. It makes me wish I could drink it like it was something along the lines of an Aperol Spritz, all vibrant orange and bubbly, and with the smoothest form of intoxication. It makes me fantasize about a holiday in Rome I never had; cruising down the Amalfi Coast on a Vespa. It makes me want to own a condo with a deck overlooking an ocean, to recline languorously, wearing linen pants and listening to Swing Out Sister or Basia, losing sense of time.

Last night I was craving something summery. The weather is changing. Late afternoon you can feel and see that summer is realy over and done. After a hot shower I sprayed a good amount of Roma and put on some nice music that remind me of good warm summer days from the past. I was transported to a holiday on Crete/Greece. The pink grapefruit and mint were so relaxing and gave me that fresh and energy full burst. I love it so much the first 15-30 minutes. It is so crisp in that stage. After that the scent becomes smooth and a lot softer. The amber and sandelwood together with the vanilla give it that soft summery blanket kind of feeling. Roma is a great summer scent but also fresh and crisp during Autumn. I have three bottles, two 100 ml vintage and 1 new formula. Again the vintage are the best. The new one lacks the longevity. Sad...

My mum wore Roma in the late 90s and I got her a bottle recently for her birthday. Roma is pure elegance and class. It is floral yet smoky, fresh yet subtly sweet- the sweetness is a slightly sticky almost waxy resin (the myrrh mixed with the amber) that compliments the florals and citruses so well. It lasts all day on clothing and a good 5 hours on skin. As a 25 year old, I can appreciate this fragrance so much, it is cozy and warm and will forever hold a dear place in my heart. I bought Venezia and It felt too vintage for my nose- but Roma is timeless. If Roma were an outfit it would be a cream skirt suit- the woman wearing it would have perfectly blown out hair, polished nails and black heeled courts- my mother in 1998 :)

Roma by Laura Biagiotti, net of the various and inevitable reformulations of the last 34 years, maintains its dignity as an ultra-feminine amber / floral fragrance. At the juste pulvérisé the citrus and fresh notes of mint emerge clearly and the olfactory evolution of magically floral makes: a complete bouquet where the hyacinth emerges solemnly, framed by the purity of white jasmine and lily of the valley flowers and the decisive notes of carnation and rose. When dry down, the fragrance becomes amber, enveloping, sweet, sensual, rich in seductive and persuasive nuances of great impact. Roma is a fabulous fragrance, a pleasant non-invasive Sillage with good persistence.

After seeing a documentary about Biagiotti House where the story of this perfume was also explained, I convinced myself to get it. Although I was a bit afraid, because I remembered smelling it as a child and hating it, I bought a big bottle. I absolutely love it 🥰 I find it unique, complex and seductive but very classy too. It’s very well blended even though it has many notes. In the opening it’s citrusy fresh with some bitterness and smokiness. Then it develops into a classic flowery yet spicy sweet scent, I feel carnation the most. In the dry down it’s spicy sweet and waxy, mostly myrrh and amber, what stays rather intimate but lasts a long time. It definitely should be part of a fragrance collection.

I wore this from WAY back when you could only get it at one store in the state...Neiman Marcus. It was eau de parfum, it was different from so many, it was EXPENSIVE, it was the '90s, and oh my, I had to have it. Venezia was the other Biagiotti I had and wish I could still get it.🫤 Anyway, now, it's a toilette...(the older scents always become toilettes for some weird reason). But, it's still pretty good! I have to use a heavier hand, but still has that lovely citrus and patchouli I fell in love with. Still lasts pretty well and just broke out bottle number 2, as I ordered my back up bottle. I have almost 400 perfumes and this one is STILL a go-to. You cannot beat a classic. Best for Spring/Summer.

A 180-degree-turn for me. Severely detested this in the 90's, when it was one of the most used perfumes. I remember reading a novel by Vine/Rendell, where someone "smells wonderfully of Roma" (or so), and it literally made me shudder with disgust. When I tried Roma again a few years ago, I became an instant fan-girl: what a warm, sensual, nuanced fragrance! I love this now. Have tried vintage versions, and they are stunning. Have tried a newer version, and it is a little different, but so charming and well-done, too. Also, it smells far more expensive than it is. In Germany and Austria you can buy Roma at a low price: the current version in shops, and the vintage ones at online trading portals.

Where have you been all of my life? I LOVE Thee...This is the best blind buy I've ever made, based on the notes. The reason why I wanted it is mint. And yes! Mint is there, not loud, but very much there. Incredibly zesty, fresh, minty grapefruit opening, then deep hyacinth, rose, patchouli notes and in the end creamy sandalwood, musk and amber. On boy! Nothing like this in my collection...Even though I did it, I wouldn't recommend blind buying it. Now, does this remind me of Rome? Yes! Been there some years ago and as a tourist in the heart of my ancestors home city, I got the same feeling of being "small" in front of a masterpiece! Both (the fragrance and the city) left me speechless...

As much as it sounds elegant and cold, to me it smells like cozy fall evenings. It makes me think of a fireplace and a blanket and cookies fresh out of the oven and a hot cup of tea. If Roma was a clothing item, it would be a burgundy woolen scarf. If Roma was a woman, she would be a mother. If Roma was a feeling, it would be happiness. I love how warm Roma smells, like a golden glittery cloud hugging you as you walk, making you feel safe.

Its Christmas perfume, its winter perfume, its ..girl from next door perfume!! Someone who will knock to your door in pyjamas and invite herself for cup of tea)Do u love bergamot for waking up?.. I do! Its lovely, not trivial simplicity, not usual-faceless-something It is powdery, but if you like Armani Sensi you will understand what I mean. Its like burning logs as well, its like all those simple but NICE things we all waiting for... Also I never saw a person, be it man or woman, who wouln't like it. All People love Christmas smells))) So if you oriental-woody-citrusy-balmy person, give it a try I would say. Its not expensive. But its unique.

Another scent that surprised me--I had fallen in love with Biagiotti's original scent, which was a fresh, all white floral perfume--and this scent couldn't be more different. One of the few oriental scents that have ever made a really big impression on me! It's very sexy, yet clean and fresh and lasting. This fragrance is a real balancing act, with notes than make me think of a rich, warms seductive scent like Shalimar, but without the ambery, musky, spicy notes dominating. The freshness and the fruit keep is sparking and not smouldering. I really miss this one, since I just have a mini or two left of it!!

OMG... years since I bought and used this. I was 11 years old when this one was launched...a bit to young to truly appreciate it. I remember wearing it in my teenage years thinking it was good. Now at age 44 I ́m totally and utterly in love. This reminds me of obsession in a very good way. Spicy, fresh , aromatic and complex. Heavy without beeing overwhelming. Well blended and perfect for the cooler months. You get a lot for your money in this one. Bottle is nineties and I love it as it evokes memories for me. Perfection in my opinion. Feminine classic for all occasions. Monstrous silage and longevity.

Can anyone change the notes on this perfume? It's a mess... Lavender and chamomile, which go strong in Roma and more importantly are mentioned officially by the brand on their website aren't even mentioned. Also, according to website, there's no hiacynth in Roma. Please change it, notes here are highly misleading. Official Laura Biagotti's site (laurabiagiottiparfums.com/en/womens-perfume/roma) mentiones these notes: Head: Bitter Orange Oil Thyme Lemon Blackcurrant Red fruit Heart: Tuberose Lavandino (Lavanda) Chamomille Roman Gentian Orange blossom Base: Sandalwood Myhr Peru balsam Benzoino Vanilla

And again, after a few days with this fragrance: is’nt it funny - the eighties and the early nineties was the time period of the ugliest clothes I, and many with me; have ever seen. I did not like them even then. But the fragrances!! Oh my!! Back then, I was quite poor and did not try so many fragrances. They are coming to me slowly, now. I have got a few, wish for many, though I know I cannot have them all. I love old ones, I love new and modern ones. But today, I wish for nothing else but losing myself in my private little dreamy cloud of Roma. 🌞🌼🍃🍁🍂

Love at the first sniff! Blind buy, let me tell you. I couldn't decide between two perfumes in the store, but my intuition was telling me to go for this one and I have no regrets. I was afraid it might smell a bit old-fashioned and well.. maybe it kinda does, but it doesn't mean that it's not absolutely beautiful. Update: Actually, I don't think it smells old fashioned. But what is most fascinating about this perfume is that it has everything - it's fresh yet sweet, spicy but powdery at the same time. I'm so glad I bought it 😊

My signature scent year round, but better worn spring-summer. I'm on my 7th bottle. This is such a complex fragrance, without being overbearing or headache inducing, doesn't turn soapy or powdery. Citrus in the opening that settles into cashmere type scent, warm but not a gourmand, very fresh without being cold. It projects nicely, lasts a few hours before I feel the need to reapply. I can't recommend it enough,very unisex. If you're in Canada, Shoppers Drugmart usually carries it in their perfume for 21.99$ section !

really reminds me of my hometown. both my mum and my auntie wear this, but for some reason I like it on myself best. I love everything about Roma, from the initial citrus fresh blast, to the powdery, smoky and animalic middle, to the sweet persistent drydown. it's a safe haven for me; as a moody perfume wearer, I could say that this suits me on a deeper level. I agree with someone else saying it used to be more fruity and sweet in the past but I wasn't wearing it at the time, so it kinda feel more personal now :)

This was one of my first perfume loves as a teenager, i had it in a small tester but never bought a big bottle. Now i did❤️ I adore the warm undertones and the powdery drydown but the opening is a bit sour. Still cant help but love it❤️ Its both tart and uplifting, warm and comforting. Just as i remember. Edit; Ive actually grown to really love the ”sour” opening. Its fresh, tart, uplifting and green. Such a lovely contrast to the warm powdery drydown. They complement eachother so well. The best if both worlds🥰

I didn't realize it had been re-released, but I loved it in its first run. Such an intricate scent, its dry-down was one of the most elaborate scent-journies I think I've ever experienced. Though not at all a similar scent, it does remind me somewhat of Donna Karan's (original) Chaos, in the evocative way the scents evolved, beginning with a springy, citrus brightness, and spiraling through heady cyprus, almost juniper, to finally settle into dark, quiet musk of civet and amber. Gorgeous. (But so expensive!)

I have the modern reformulated version ed toilette 25ml bottle.First blast of minty myrrh note,powdery Italien leather,feells cozy and friendly.It is dry and powdery resins on my skin,holds on several hours.Safe scent all in all,perfect to the work and relax... Sadly... Not at all same Roma as it was time ago.Magical is lost for me in this new release of perfume.Why they call all these new reformulations for same big names,can not understand it...These are NOT same perfumes and would change names as well...

I absolutely adore this perfume. My mum used to wear it and when I turned 18 she would let me wear it on special occasions. Now I bought my own bottle of the reformulated Roma, and the smell is not the exact same. I still love it, I wear it, I love having it on my skin. It's so elegant and clean and warm to me. However, the longevity cannot be compared. The reformulated toilette lasts about 4-5 hours tops, whereas the previous one would last at least 8 hours on skin and several days on clothes.

This is going to be the dorkiest review ever, but this perfume smells like love to me. It's like someone hugged you and their perfume just stuck on. Growing up, my Grandma's house always felt like a perfect place. It was always clean and comfy and anything you needed would be there. For some reason, Roma smells like that feeling. It would be perfect to wear to a family style dinner. Totally unique and sensual. It definitely doesn't feel modern, but it's not dated either. Really special.

I love love love this scent! it was a blind buy earlier in the year, towards the end of summer..I got it and really wasn't convinced! Now though, the the arrival of autumn/winter it comes into its own...Its amazing..Christmas in a bottle, warm and sexy without hitting you in the face.. I used to wear this a lot in my early twenties because I felt sooo mature wearing it. I've stopped using it, but the other day I found a sample in my drawer and fell in love again. There is this pine resin-like smell to it which gives it that old-school feel and warmth. The dry-down is also beautiful, at the end of the day it doesn't smell like you are wearing perfume, you just give off this sweet warm aura. I'll always have a bottle of it.

The citrus, carnation pepper, perfect amber, and myrrh licorice + kasuri methi are to die for! The entire experience from opening to dry down unfolds like a thriller minus the noir. Seamless and anticipatory. I love the rubbery vanilla undulating underneath. And whispering throughout is...vermouth? Freaking love this (Beware the fakes which are proliferate and come in a pink fluid smelling only of weak grapefruit)

Though it's a scent often associated with older souls, I find myself drawn to its unique charm. It was my first impulsive fragrance purchase as a teenager, and despite its spicy notes (that I usually don't like), I've grown quite fond of it. The heat it evokes reminds me of good times and adventures. While it certainly has a classic, timeless quality, I've yet to encounter anything quite like it.

I bought a new bottle of Roma after having rediscovered my 15 y o Roma Eau de Parfum and emptying it to the last drop this time. The new Roma seems different. kndeed, but it may also be because I have bought Eau de toilette. In any case, I get more mint and more orange blossom, overall it's lighter and sweeter than my old bottle, which had more wood and a stronger base. But still, very nice.

It starts fresh...pink grapefruit..a lot of it..crispy mint but ut changes rather quickly...it calms down and melts into soft warm rosy mossy scent when rose and moss come into play. The undertone is slighly spicy but not bitter. The drydown is warm and I definately smell myrrh, sandalwood, amber and vanilla. The scent is very present but it is also calming. Longevity and sillage are good.

Unfortunately I must share my disappointment that so awaited from me perfume. Roma not smell that I smell 15-16 years ago. The new Roma is predominant scent of myrrh, stale, church, both in the beginning and at the base. The reformulation scent, which later found out was horrific. Gone is that mysterious soft femininity, which was the original Roma. I returned perfume.
