Eau Gourmande Creme de Pistache

Crème de Pistache opens like an pistachio flavoured ice-cream and becomes more and more nutty with almond and hazelnut joining the party. Bit by bit, honey and cream drip in, until the scent becomes a swirl of creamy nuts. At this point, the fragrance is very pleasant and I already enjoyed it a lot. However, the drydown really strikes me with the resemblance with Angel and some of its flankers when the chocolate kicks in, as other reviewers already pointed out. It's like a gentler Angel without the earty patchouli. At the same time, the chocolate note I get on my skin is the bitter type, thus helps to cut the sweetness, which is a lovely surprise towards the end of this delightful journey. The sillage is moderate and the longevity is at least 9 hours. It's a good option for those who find the patchouli in Angel too potent. But it's also extremely enjoyable on its own as a gourmand fragrance, especially if you like pistachio and chocolate. I'd definitely recommend it.

I agree with the few reviews I've skimmed over that this perfume is very similar to Angel. And it's awfully potent in it's own right. This could easily be an Angel or Innocent flanker. What sets Creme de Pistache apart from Angel is the beautiful pistachio note. It really does smell just like the actual nut, with the thin, slightly bitter outer skin. It reminds me of Lindt chocolates with the pistachio filling. It's very creamy and also buttery at the same time, for I sense a delicate saltiness about it, like salted caramel. After it dries down somewhat, I am reminded of a chewy honey and almond nougat. I hadn't seen the notes yet, but when I first smelled it I could easily detect pistachio, almond, honey, caramel, cream, and chocolate. And now that I see the notes, I was right on the mark. It's different enough from Angel that I would like to own it. It's very gourmand--more edible than most gourmands I've smelled lately. Brilliant. Love it.

Honestly, I was a little worried when I saw that Crème de Pistache is supposedly similar to Angel. But I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it; there are definite similarities between the two, but CdP is like a softer, nuttier Angel without the rough edges (the patchouli). It opens with a rich, smooth pistachio note, but that sadly fades away after a few minutes. CdP then evolves into a soft, creamy nut and chocolate scent. The chocolate thankfully isn’t the cloying, Hershey’s syrup variety, but a semi-sweet, fluffy chocolate crème. CdP smells delicious and soft, like a pistachio macaron with chocolate ganache filling. Mmm. Overall I really love this fragrance. It’s sweet but not too sweet, and it does chocolate in a way that I can enjoy. My only gripe is the beautiful disappearing pistachio note in the beginning, but it’s an enjoyable, well-done fragrance despite that.

I am in LOVE with this! Pistachio ice cream is in my top 5 flavors of all time (and I am obsessed with ice cream...) and it makes me so happy! So of course this was right up my alley. This scent does smell like Angel... if Angel became a creamy, almond-y, pistachio ice cream with whipped cream on top! This is a lovely gourmand that is not too sweet, and much more wearable (and probably less toxic- eek! lol) than Angel. I love it. I really want a FB now!!! I get the pistachio, almond, lots of vanilla, praline, candy floss, whipped cream, a mixture of nuts, you name it! Every gourmand delight is included in this little gem of a perfume, and I'm diggin' it. EDIT: Still love the scent, but after a full day of wearing, I've noticed the longevity isn't great :( Too bad since it's so yummy.

I am echoing a lot of other reviews, but this could definitely be a little sister of Angel. CDP opens with plenty of sweet nutty goodness; a pristine scoop of pistachio ice cream. Then it warms into more of an almond bubble tea. Once it has settled on my skin, it definitely smells like Angel without the super assertive patch note. I love how Angel smells on me after about 6 hours wear so this fragrance is a good short cut to that scent. I do feel it is different enough from Angel to merit a purchase should you already own one or the other. It is such a beautifully blended gourmand, truly smooth and mellow. No screechy or synthetic edges. I like layering this with Laura Mercier Vanilla for a true ice cream sundae scent confection.

I was super lucky to get a bottle of this... It's amazing. I am a pistachio fiend so having this in the collection makes me very happy. Delicious nutty, pistachio opening. Then honey... Everything is nicely blended and while definitely gourmand, it's a wonderfully measured approach. Easily wearable in all situations and inoffensice, unlike a lot of current gourmands. As it dries down, I thought how I wished Keiko Mercheri's Loukhoum was more like this. I don't get the Angel comparison at all but I zero in on the pistachio/nut immediately, so may ignore the background blending. I think Angel is all about the patchouli/chocolate at any rate, and distinctive enough that I don't think Creme de Pistache is like Angel.

This perfume opens with a definite blast of pistachio and as other reviewers have said, starts to turn into a flanker for Angel. However...the Angel similarities only lasted for about 30 minutes on my skin and then it seemed to move past that into a more nutty, chocolate scent that is very warm and cozy. The chocolate/hazelnut scent lasts and lasts which for me is perfect. I would definitely wear this in the fall and winter and could also wear on spring/summer nights. It might be too strong for summer days. I'm longing for those cool winter days when I can wear this while wrapped in a cozy sweater and sipping on a hot mocha. MMMMMMMM!

This smells a great deal like Angel (which I love) at first, but then the pistachio note develops, and also the cream, which is a wonderful accent to the pistachio. Definitely a sweet fragrance, and it lasts a long time (wish the sillage was better, though!). I think it would be best paired with the body cream, because that would improve the sillage. If you don't want to smell like dessert, don't wear this one! Incidentally, the pistachio note is extremely realistic, with no detectable "chemical aftersmell", which can sometimes be a problem with the unusual notes.

Angel? Really? Didn't cross my mind at all upon first, second or third testing, so I was surprised to see so many Fragranticans drawing similarities between the two. To me, Creme de Pistache is all nutty goodness, less overpoweringly sweet than expected, less creamy than expected, full on nuts (mainly pistachio) with a smidgen of dark chocolate and some honey. It's pretty great, but I'm not crazy enough about it to hunt down a full bottle.

It's so so sooooo good !! Nothing similar to Angel in it, it's gourmand heaven, I can smell all the notes listed, and it's really what the name say : pistachio cream. It's intense and very sweet but not too much it's well balanced, sillage and longevity are very good. Natural smelling, if the notes appeal to you and your a gourmand lover it's blind buy worthy, like I did, I'm so happy with this gem !

This has to be one of my all time favorite scents! Wore this when i started dating my boyfriend and it's now his favorite scent because of it. Smells sweetly nutty and it's very strong. This perfume will last and last and last

One sniff and I was hooked. Such a creamy pistachio type scent. Very gourmand like I love it. Reminds me of pistachio ice cream..minus the calories! :D

love the smell, but longevity/sillage are very weak on my skin

Wow, there is so much gourmand power in this plain little bottle! I've tried it 3 different times now, twice on my wrist, once on my neck. This is STRONG. I prefer it on my wrist. First spray is so deliciously amazing! Honeyed fruits, amaretto (from the almond note), and toasted pistachios. Yummy. The fruits and amaretto leave quickly, then some woods, praline, and florals enter. Mid point gets very smokey to me, all dark roasted nuts and woods, almost to the point of being burnt, but not quite. Still the honey is evident and just a touch of whipped cream. The dry down still has me unsure if this is a love. The honey becomes a powdered honey concentrate, plus heavy woods, dark chocolate and florals. I can definitely see the comparison to Angel here. I like how Raina described the difference below. I can't find patchouli listed as a note anywhere for Creme de Pistache, and I think that would make it way too much for me. The notes this shares with Angel are chocolate, vanilla, honey, orchid, caramel, and bergamot. Still it is very heavy and almost cloying. I think this is a cool weather, special night out scent. I think it is a treasure and masterpiece, just a loud one! It lasts at least 5 hours on me. I'm suggesting this to my mother who loved Angel, but dad couldn't stand it! *I've worn this several times now and there is a mildew-y feel during the bottom notes that's a little off-putting. It's like being in a wood sauna with honey dripped over the coals and every once in a while there's a whiff of a rotting or water damaged board.

I bought this as a blind buy as I love my gourmand fragrances. Upon spraying it I whinced and screamed a sonic scream (that could have been heard half way across the world, I'm sure!). I thought it was awful. I had it hidden away for a while and decided to try it again today. I'm extremely happy to say that I was completely wrong with my initial thoughts on this concoction. The first note - tropical fruits, especially pineapple! That soon settled down to take a back seat and then the nuts appeared. Lots of hazelnut (praline), almonds and gorgeous headliner, pistachio nuts!! They also settle down and it becomes woodier then the vanilla and dark chocolate appears. Don't spray this one on to excess. Three pulse point sprays is all you need. Oh, and the longevity is amazing. Gourmand lovers must try this one. It is a really rare treat to have so much girly gorgeousness crammed into one bottle!

I don't know how I managed to find this perfume, as it seems to have been discontinued for a while now. To me it smells like pistachio, general nuts and honey. If it was stronger it would be cloying, but the way it is it's ok. I like gourmands and I expected to love this one but I just like it. The surprising thing is that I received 3 compliments in 2 days of wearing it in combination with Fresh Cream from Philosophy, in a country where I rarely ever receive compliments on my perfumes. Come to think of it, the other time I remember receiving a perfume compliment was for Girl Of Now, which also has pistachio. Interesting...

I don't have much to add to the reviews that are already here - this is, indeed, a dead ringer for Angel. Crème de Pistache isn't quite as overpoweringly strong, and the patchouli is replaced by a nice nutty accord that I can buy as buying pistacchio, but they're really quite alike overall. Which means I like it - I have nothing against Angel, and the more gourmand the better, as far as I'm concerned. But it also means that it's not quite as special as I had hoped looking at that lovely list of notes, and since it's discontinued, I think I'll just leave it at this sample.

I agree that the perfume starts off with a great blast of pistachio then dries down to a more gourmand version of angel. It's a little bit frustrating for me because I love the top phase so much. I prefer the body butter to the perfume because I get the top notes much, much longer but it still has a tiny bit of the gourmand angel dry down. This fragrance makes me feel pretty naughty for some reason. In that sexy, confident, come get me way ;)

I'm having a love/hate relationship with this one. One minute it smells lovely, almost edible, deep and rich. At this stage it's comforting and relaxing. The next minute it does smell like patchouli like cmmarti3 mentioned. And not just any patchouli, kind of like a dirty, grungy patchouli-along with the sweet and nutty pistachio. Strange, but interesting. Creme de Pistache is a very different scent, not sure if it's my thing or not.
