Eau Gourmande Fresh Fig

Fresh Figs, Sandalwood & Cream... This unsigned sandalwood composition, as all Laura Mercier creations was made in collaboration with perfumers Frank Voelkl, Calice Becker, James Bell, Cecile Krakower, Maurice Roucel and James Krivda. Opens with burst of fig leaf represented by fig and cassis, that transition to a sweet fig heart on a fluffy lather of creamy sandalwood & musk. Overall this is a creamy sandalwood fig scent, with the soft purple fruity nuances slightly more forward than other sandalwood fig scents I've tried. Performance is slightly above average, but improves significantly when layered over its matching body lotion, or with dark storage after first sprays. Contrast to Fig Extasy Mancera: These are different, but there are similarities with a sandalwood and fig. Fig Extasy has a smoky accord much more forward, while Eau Gourmande Fresh Fig has the fruity nuances more forward. Fig Extasy outperforms. Contrast to Figue Sauvage Laurence Dumont 2009: Also made in collaboration with perfumer Maurice Roucel et. al, this is the most similar scent to my nose, although the fruity nuances are slightly more forward in Eau Gourmandes Fresh Fig. These have roughly equivalent performance, or slightly better for Eau Gourmandes Fresh Fig. Overall: gorgeous creamy sandalwood fig scent, with fruity nuances and slightly above average performance. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I must admit that I have no idea what fresh figs smell like - but if they're anything like this then I know I'd love them. This is my current favourite scent - warm and rich but not at all heavy. The only problem I find is that I have to reapply it a few times before it will have any longevity on my skin. I put it on in the morning then again a couple of times before it seems to really cling but after that it lasts for a long time and smells gorgeous for hours. It is also really lovely mixed with a very small amount of Ambre Vanille from the same range. I found this by accident when I topped up the wrong sample vial with Fresh Fig but now I really like it and would buy both just to mix. I wouldn't wear the Ambre Vanille on its own though - but the Fresh Fig is wonderful both ways. Delish. I love this more and more - and it's so versatile. I still think it's gorgeous on its own but the thing I like about it so much is how fab it is when layered with other scents. As well as the Ambre Vanille it is also really good over Jessica Simpson's Fancy, and my absolute favourite is the mix of this over Ellen Tracy by Ellen Tracy. So many ways to wear this - I want to always have a bottle of it on the go.

I never really liked gourmand fragrances because although I like to smell good, I do not want to smell good enough to eat. Boy, did this fragrance change my mind. To say the least, whenever I wear this, my nose is glued obsessively to my wrist.

I love this. So much better than tons of newer gourmands. Beautiful light fig, creams vanilla, abd milky sandalwood. A smidgen of yellow florals. There is something a teeny bit smoky here too. Gorgeous fragrance.

I bought this fragrance because of my obsession with the highly-polarized Womanity by Thierry Mugler. After seeing “this reminds me of...” on Taste of Womanity, I purchased a cheap .5oz bottle off of eBay to see if there was a resemblance. Eau Gourmande Fresh Fig smells identical to Womanity when you sniff the sprayer. However, that is where the resemblance ends. Eau Gourmande Fresh Fig opens with creamy, vanillic peaches and a candied variation of fig fruit. It doesn’t resemble the real fruit at all but the candied interpretations of fig in perfumery. The peaches and fig bow out to a slightly burnt and caramelized crème brulee note with a very fresh “air” accord. You know how Womanity mimics oceanic air? Well, instead of a brine-y, metallic tang, Eau Gourmande Fresh Fig has a fresh, breeze that is not oceanic, synthetic or offensive. It’s like a late morning breeze in Spring – fresh, young, and comforting. In short - after the creamy, candy opening, Fresh Fig smells like caramelized crème brulee and a fresh, cool spring breeze. A must try for the gourdmand lovers!
