Araki 40 | Restoring

Scarlxrd's signature scent, though it isn't exactly what one would have in mind to be the scent of a 'trap-metal' rapper. The opening is strongly floral, pure Sakura, though a unisex fragrance, it pushes the boundaries of femininity if it were not held down by the sombre almond tones, the bitter, nutty qualities help tame the sweetness of the cherry blossom. The heart is woody, the cherry blossom is still there but it is enveloped by that rich mahogany and a 'spice' with no Scoville, likely thanks to the light notes of Oud. Its opening belongs in the spring but its heart and dry down lead from autumn to winter; I see no place for this as a summer fragrance. Its sillage is low, but its unique scent profile earns it the right to be a "discovered" aroma and not an announcement for one entering the room. Don't expect it to last much past the 6 hour mark though. In a more metaphorical sense, It does conjure up images of a lone Ronin wandering the mountains of Hokkaido, not a scent everyone could pull off at a party or the office, per-se, but something belonging to a person of youth seeking individualism, no doubt the nose's intent. Very fresh and "breezy." There's a crispness to it - think mountain air or lake breeze. I think the cherry blossom adds the touch of sweetness that cuts through all the wood notes because I don't get that much woodiness. It's pretty gender neutral to me. Sweet enough to be feminine but I can also see a guy in a white t-shirt or a short sleeve button up on a boat on a windy day.
