Vanille Chocolat

This is very much a unisex fragrance. I'm a late 20 year old male and enjoy this one a lot! Ordered it blindly from Amazon based on the notes I would've liked to smell on my wife and WOW...I may just keep it for myself! I'm a huge fan of well made gourmands and this is one of them! The first shot reminded me a bit of LIDGE, but didn't really smell like it...but had a similar parfum spirit...it starts filled with a warm honey chocolate sprinkled with patchouli...the patchouli comes out a bit more after a few minutes followed by a dried herbal vanilla....this will carry out for several hours the tobacco is hinted but not extremely prominent - just the perfect mix. It dries down to a smooth chocolaty vanilla tobacco at the base and is just a pleasure all-throughout...I enjoy this one a lot! For the daring gentleman, like myself, who is willing to look passed the Fragantica labeling of "for Women": this is very much unisex - IMHO a tad bit more on the masculine side. Both you AND your lady will enjoy this one! Oh, and BTW, THIS DOES NOT SMELL LIKE ANGEL. It simply shares similar notes. Enjoy!

Total patchouli bomb. Smells almost exactly like Angel before its latest reformulation. Not quite as complex or loud, and not quite as polarizing due to its very slightly softer sillage, but still very close, and more faithful to its origins than the much softer reformulated Angel. Longevity is amazing as well, only starting to fade almost 24 hours on skin. If you don't like the reformulated Angel and want a good dupe with the dark patchouli of before that lasts and doesn't smell cheap, give Vanille Chocolat a try. In Europe, you can get a 100 ml bottle for 20 €.

I bought this scent blind a few years ago. And I wasn't dissapointed. A true gourmand fragrance. At first you smell the sweet honey, then the bitter chocolate and sweet vanilla. There is a slight tobacco note to this which worked really well. Overall this fragrance is great and lasts for hours. After reading this reviews I think I will give the Alien fragrance a try now!!

I just recieved a sample of Vanille Chocolat when I ordered a perfume. I do agree it smells very simular to Angel. I get a lot of chocolate and thankfully not an overpowering amount of patchouli. Which is really nice because I can't take the massive amount of patchouli in the drydown of Angel. I'm thinking I could possibly spring for a bottle of Vanille Chocolat and I'm not really a big gourmand fan. This fragrance is very cozy. Thumbs up!

This surprised me, as I am not a gourmand-lover. And although I do smell vanilla and cocoa fairly clearly in this perfume, somehow the blend adds up to quite a bit more than that. Maybe the materials are so synthetic that the scent is not at all edible. For me, that's a good thing. I don't know if I'd wear it again, but I can see the appeal.

Do you like Angel but she's too loud and can't afford her? Give this a try. A yummy patchouli treat. Unfortunately, I don't get any tobacco, but the chocolate and patchouli are very much there, and are very tasty. Perhaps more like Angel Muse but without the vetiver. Also the longevity and sillage were excellent.

As it has been noted, this is Mugler's Angel but done in a more polite way if you will. Not as loud nor long lasting as the queen B! BUT..... It is cheaper. Nothing else to add to this except for why fly coach when you can fly first class?.

A cheaper and simplified version of Angel ! As simple as that . Angel is more complex, i have to admit , but they're still very close to each other .

I bought this blind based on the notes. I wish I would have read these reviews more carefully prior to my purchase. I'm keeping an open mind and seeing where this takes me. On me, this is a complete clone of Angel. I have never been a fan of Angel because I just can't endure the patchouli bullet to the head. I like patchouli and when applied LIGHTLY it can be gorgeous and earthy, but just as with Angel, there is nothing light about this composition and the silage and longevity are as long as War and Peace. I went to college in Berkeley, so I've smelled my fair share of patchouli loving people, and it's a scent that just reminds me of pot brownies, and super earthy unshowered people who've been squeezed into a Green Tortoise bus following The Dead for months on end. I don't smell the chocolate at all, which is mainly what I was hoping for. I smell patchouli and cloves, then maybe 5 hours later a little light vanilla. What came to mind when I smelled this is a recipe in Michael Turback's book, "Hot Chocolate" entitled Hellfire Hot Chocolate. I have never been adventurous enough to make this recipe because it calls for milk, cayenne, allspice, bittersweet chocolate, and sugar. I can't wrap my head around a spicy or herbaceous hot chocolate enough to give this recipe a try since, to me, hot chocolate is a comfort food, and involves mexican vanilla, milk, cinnamon, chocolate and almonds.... I think this scent just has way more mojo than I do and I don't think I can't pull it off. Maybe if I had a little more Courtney Love in me...

In my opinion it is almost identical to Angel Muse but without the sharper citrus and the price. Massive patchouli hit, with a powdery chocolate dry down. I don't think I like perfumes this strong on patchouli. It dominates.

It smells too much like cologne to me. I gave it quite a few goes, but I just couldn't get on with the lingering scent of tobacco. I think I was hoping for more vanilla and choc.

Oh my goodness: am I having an ANGEL flashback? (I always suspected that it was fat soluble...) No, in fact, I am wearing Laurence Dumont Les Senteurs Gourmandes VANILLE CHOCOLAT. I tested a few of these Dumont perfumes a while back and was sufficiently pleased to end up acquiring a bottle of VANILLE VIOLETTE, so I welcomed the receipt of a new sample which had been thrown in along with a recent online order. This house can perhaps be best summed up as "budget niche"—as oxymoronic as that may sound. The compositions are all very natural smelling, and I am sure that they use real flowers, where relevant (not in this case...). I have found all of the Dumont perfumes which I've sniffed rather simple, and this entire vanilla series is obviously geared toward lovers of all things gourmand, as the name clearly indicates: "Les Senteurs Gourmandes". VANILLE CHOCOLAT really does open very similarly to the drydown of ANGEL, which surprised me since VANILLE VIOLETTE does not smell like ANGEL OF STARS VIOLETTE. However, VANILLE CHOCOLAT proceeds to transform into a somewhat strange, almost rubbery chocolate/myrrh-vanillla drydown, as though the chocolate were somehow petrified. This entry in the vanilla series is not nearly so sweet as the VANILLE VIOLETTE, which offers a double hit of sugar, given the naturally sweet quality of violets combined with the sweet vanilla (which to some would qualify as cloying!). My impression is that people who like some of the better-made vanilla-oriental celebrity scents would like this line a lot. I definitely recommend this particular creation to those who appreciate (and even crave!) ANGEL. You know who you are: you avail yourselves of the "refill vats" at major department stores. (-:

There is an Angel flanker 'the taste of fragrance', with cocoa powder thrown into the mix and it smells exactly like a chocolate liquor, you know, the bitter bitter dark chocolate? It's a remarkable fragrance but not one that I want to wear, Owning 2 of the Laurence Dumont perfumes, ( Tendre Madeleine and Violet Vanille) I'm aware of the great value for money with this line but what really got my interest, was the honey and tobacco notes in it. I'm a sucker for tobacco scents. Interesting to see that no-one has likened this to Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford ( not many people GET the tobacco note) I'm sitting here with a sealed bottle,.... The unboxing and revelations, to come..... shortly..... As for the House of Laurence Dumont (also sold under Les Senteurs gourmandes brand) I'm thoroughly impressed with its dirt cheap prices and simple, linear perfumes that aren't going to require a second mortgage to explore! You can literally buy the whole line, for under $200! I'm talking 10 bottles for the price of one niche brand or overpriced chemist line frag! Who doesn't love a bargain? You can't go wrong here. A 'must have' line for gourmand lovers.

I'm a fan of all the other Laurence Dumont/ Les Senteurs Gourmandes fragrances that I own, but this is a resounding NO from me. Overpowering even the (admittedly strong) vanilla is, what I attribute to the patchouli, but translates to a perfumey odour, so strong that after one squirt alone, I am gagging at the other end of the house. It can't even be sprayed any lighter.Just into the air, and I'm running for the hills. I cannot detect any other note except cloying chemical scent of perfume (and this is not a chemical perfume, but is actually made from quality natural ingredients) You know the cacophony of just "perfume haze" fog that exists at the entry to a department store? That is what I get. If you think you would like to try it, are a lover of patchouli, chocolate scents, message me and we can arrange a swap. I have a virtually unused, as well as a new 50ml bottle. Aus fragrantians only, due to postage costs please.

The patchouli in this is E-NORMOUS. It's more patchouli than Angel! And it's definitely of the "dirty dank patchouli" persuasion. A bit musty. Just don't bury your nose in it after spraying. Instant Patchouli. Followed by a dry sweet tobacco note, then a little honey. But - the far dry down brings out the chocolate. You just have to wait. This is a "big" fragrance. It is encompassing. If you don't like patchouli don't waste your time. A softer sweetness comes along in the end. You have to have patience and also a stomach for nostril shocking top notes. Angel dupe? I suppose. Though Angel has a floral essence that is completely absent here. A super patchoulied Angel perhaps. It lasts forever and has grand sillage. You've gotta be in the mood for it. It's not that I dislike it, but in reality, I'm not sure where or when I'll even be able to wear it?

I received a sample of this and I love it. I don't get the patch., though, which is good since I'm not too keen on the stuff. On me this is pure bitter chocolate and vanilla. How can you go wrong with that? I also like that it's not candy-floss, bakery sweet. Staying power is quite remarkable. The sample was a wet towelette. I rubbed it all over my chest and arms after showering this morning. It's now almost 6pm and it's still going strong. I hope this is not just a marketing trick. You know. When compnies make samples very potent and then you go and get a full bottle and it doesn't have half the same intensity. I hate it when that happens.

Massive patchouli hit in the opening and mid phases with lots of 'red berry' like semi-sweet red currant, some rose honey and hints of vanille and dark, and I mean dark, chocolate and loose tobacco. Absolutely not what I expected from this fragrance! Volume on the patch is a 11 out of 10 with emphasis on the dark, earthy and musty notes! Though it's lithe and not cloying at all. Damn. This is not me no matter how intoxicating it may be. I love it and hate it at the same time. Poor me. It's like patch with some red berry jam and a dash of vanilla. If you love patch then this one is for you!

Wow this is incredably like angel to my nose . Strong patcholie honey and chocolat, vanilla blended in very well to. hm . this is not as soft as i thought it would be , but not bad at all . For angel lovers and Garden la rose lovers aswell . this is very good . pretty loud and strong . But not shure if it is as lasting as angel . have to get back on that . But never the less . very good . I wanted a little more clean chocolate , but this is not it in that case . to much mixing it up. Like it

I have to agree with the others here: this is a dupe of Angel. I like vanilla and chocolate and thought I would Angel - the notes on paper sound perfect. But upon application, I couldn't take the strong patchouli of Angel. Same with Laurence Dumont Vanille Chocolat - I couldn't take it. It also lasts, like, forever! Too bad for me since I couldn't wear it but great news for those who love Angel - this one lasts and lasts and lasts ...

Tested this today. Strong, intensive, earthy patchouli. Smells like gasoline or something you can smell in the garage. Then it settles and I can smell the dark bitter chocolate and some sweetness. It lasts for a long time, sillage isn't so good but on the skin it lasts for about 10 hours. Really worth it's price and more. It's not for me but it is really good scent though.

Love this scent. I am a Thierry Mugler Angel fan, and this smells just like it in a lighter version. Better than some of the actual lighter versions of Angel that were made. Very warm, aromatic, and vanilla yummy. I love it and the sillage is good but certainly not what you get from actual Angel. I wear it during the summer. LOVE!

I absolutely love this scent. On my skin, it is almost pure chocolate, with a hint of honey and patchouli... I do not smell vanilla like at all!! It also does not smell like incense! This is a very gorgeous, long lasting fragrance, a real pleasure to wear!

Perfect Angel Clone! Sprayed it on last month one chilly day in Paris and it certainly warmed my mood up. The scent stayed on my scarf for weeks! Actually more gourmand than Angel, this Laurence Dumont is Angel with a generous sprinkling of cocoa powder.

I must agree with the previous review. This bears a very similar quality to Angel by Theirry Mugler. It is a wonderful frgarance. And, if you don't want to pay the higher price tag for Angel, this is a perfect option.

Indeed very similar to Angel but then simplified. Slightly more feminine... which I love. For the price (25 euros 100 ml) definitely a steal compared to the star of Thierry Mugler.

Total word-for-word transposition of Angel as it used to be. If that's your sort of thing, roll on 1992!

It smells deffinetely like Angel. Only lighter version. Not bad at all if you like it.
