Vanille Noire

Vanille Noire is my favourite from this line for winter and Vanille Pamplemousse my favourite for summer. I also own Figue Sauvage, Vanille Abricot and Prune Jasmin; Tendre Madeleine being the last one on my want list. They are all exceptional for the low price and a must-try for vanilla lovers imo. So, now to Vanille Noire. I love it to death; the vanilla and spices turn into magic on my skin. I am glad I bought a fb and can spray it liberally now, because I couldn't go anywhere without sniffing my wrist all the time when I dabbed some on from the sample I was generously gifted....it turns into this sweet, cosy, balmy, spicy melange that has an unbelievable comforting effect on me, and not just that but the combination of spices gives off this menthol, eucalyptus vibe; like that Vicks rub you put on your chest at night just before going to bed when you have a cold or flu...I breathe it in and my nostrils seem to widen up and feel refreshed at the same time as comforted - maybe that is the 'boozy' notes that some are getting in this.. My hubby reckons it smells like cough syrup - he's maybe not so far off with that - but I don't care; this is yummy and what I was looking for in a nice wearable comfy scent for winter, and with the Vicks vibe it is at the same time cooling and refreshing as well as cosy and warm. On me, VN is rather soft and I spray generously but it stays on my clothes all day into the night. Great value for your money indeed...btw the colour of the juice in my bottle is much darker than on the picture shown here on Fragrantica - more dark brown like dark chocolate...

Mexican Vanilla with Creaminess, Cinnamon & Two Kinds of Pepper... It takes awhile for the sillage to wake up here, and also benefits from dark storage after first sprays to improve the performance. Predominantly a vanilla scent ( this has some fresh & warm peppery undertones. Cinnamon and cloves are there in the spice blend, but they're mainly supporting the pink & black pepper. For a vanilla scent, the pink & black pepper does make this stand out. Before the vanilla has aged, all the other notes seem more forward, but once the vanilla has aged it's really the star of the show. Overall I get creamy golden vanilla scent, accented by a mix of spiciness. Performance is average, but improves to slightly above average with dark storage. It's a love for me. Enjoy! Update 07/14/24: Wearing this today. It's a great vanilla for the summer as it's not thick or pasty: it's clear, bright & slightly fresh (likely due to the florals & fresh spicy accord). Although once the vanilla has aged it could be worn year round. Really shining for me today. Still a love.

A wonderful gourmand vanilla mixed with a bit of Kenzo Jungle L'Éléphant. For some reason, it reminds me a little bit of old-fashioned strawberry syrup in the opening, and also of Christmas candles. I also agree with another reviewer that the opening is a bit like Coca-Cola. But don't get me wrong, it smells expensive, much more than its actual price. It has a light vintage vibe, must be the cloves. Smells like childhood holidays ! It slowly evolves after several hours to something pretty similar to L de Lolita Lempicka, still with a touch of Jungle. It creates a delicious trail in the outside air that reminds me the most of Belgian speculoos. While Tendre Madeleine is more similar to L in the opening but evolves differently, Vanille Noire is more like L in the far drydown, spicier than Tendre Madeleine and much longer lasting.

Wahey, cheap niche ahoy! Whoever made this is a little genius. The peppers hit you in the face upon first sprits and you kinda go, wuuuut??? But then comes the cinnamon and vanilla and says hello and you kinda go, yeah sista, I got your back. This was 12EUR!!!! I can't believe my luck, I have this wonderfully well made dark gourmand for a song and it's also extremely long lasting! I'm delighted that not many people know about it and if I would cull my perfumes today this would be in my last 10. For sure :-) Lovely, yummy, spicy stuff.

On my skin, this opens with a blast of spices wrapped in a deep, rich strong sweet vanilla. I LOVE the blend of heavy cloves with the cinnamon spiced super sweet warm Mexican vanilla. Sugary, very very spicy, deep and smooth. Vanille Noire is incredilby long lasting, more than 12 hours, with excellent projection. A little goes a long way. Amazingly affordable niche that smells better, projects better and lasts longer than most expensive fragrances.

Mmmm...this has a bourbon-y undertone, which makes me wonder about this line's Vanille Bourbon, which is next on my list to try. I've layered Vanille Noir with some of my incense/spicy scents, like AP's L'Agent, KM's Oliban, and SL's Serge Noir. And the vote is in.....delicious!! I'll be happily hibernating with this one this winter.

A perfect perfume for winter. Long lasting on my skin, at least 7 hours.Strong vanilla with a hint of spices.At the beginning I can smell the clove, cinnamon and ylang but don't get the pepper at all.Creamy and to me simple but wonderful.

I like it a lot!! Does anyone get Dolce Vita by Christian Dior as the smell settles? I certainly do and it amazes me because I love my Dolce Vita, the vintage one.

Runcible. When I was small the Owl & the Pussycat fascinated me & to cut a long story short it offered me a word to describe a favourite childhood feeling: sucking honey from a metal spoon. Now I know that "runcible" is a made-up Learism. I also know that people now think it describes a ladle or a 3-pronged spoon-fork hybrid with a sharp edge for eating fruit & pickles....but for me runcible is a feeling, & always will be. Sucking honey or treacle from a spoon is especially pleasurable because the warm, caramel smoothness is interjected with moments of bitter-metal pain before the relief of sweet, gloopy, nectar arrives again. Pleasure-pain (the tame Delia Smith version of 50 Shades). So, Vanille Noir. Runcible in nature. Depthy, treacly-rich, vanilla sugar syrup...dripped off a peppery metal spoon into dark, sailor's rum. Spicy, rich, warmed up booze with a cinnamon stick stirrer. Smooth & almost burnt with a pricking of fruity piquancy. Like Vanilla Bourbon, this simple vanilla fragrance this is a winner. It would even lend itself as a mixer-scent. Available at M&S at a reasonable price. What's not to like? Suck it & see.

I'll make mine the words of sistermoon, who's described it perfectly! This is a boozy dark vanilla, although there are not boozy notes on the description. Dark gourmand and natural smelling, yes (Les Senteur Gourmandes are usually 85% natural ingredients, so no plastic, fake vanilla here.) I get lots of pink pepper, and surprisingly I like it! I'd describe it as a sexy gourmand; it is sweet just in the right measure, without ever being cloying. Great staying power; I've applied it to my wrist 5-6 hours ago, and I'm still sniffing it. It dried down to a deliciously warm skin scent. This is my first time testing it, but so far I'm really happy I've got a bottle. :-)

Maybe this is another scent that is influenced by skin chemistry? On me, Vanille Noire is a discrete, natural smelling vanilla that smells like real extract, but *without* smelling harsh and overwhelming the way vanilla extract specifically intended for baking can smell, which I guess makes sense, since this is perfume, and not a brown glass bottle from a grocery store. The spice is more subtle on my skin, which is too bad, since I love cinnamon. Get this if you love vanilla scents, and need a more natural-smelling and grown up perfume that smells absolutely *nothing* like cake or cotton candy.

This is a lovely sugary, sweet vanilla. Upon first spray it reminds me how Sailor Jerry's Rum used to smell before they reformulated it and took away the majority of the vanilla (i was so upset that I wrote an angry email!) I really like it but the longevity and sillage aren't fantastic. It's lovely while it lasts though and isn't so expensive that you can't re-spray throughout the day. EDIT: I can actually still smell this on my sleeve 7 hours later. It's very close to the fabric/skin but it is still there!!

I agree with the viewer below that this has a "boozy" vibe. It is a deeper and darker less sweet version of the deliciously yummy Vanilla Bourbon. It is sweet but not overly and spicy but not overly. It is warm and sensual, very nice but not really "me", I prefer the Vanilla Bourbon. This is my 5th Laurence Dumont LSG fragrance and they do vanilla very well but this one is probably my least favorite so far. If you are a lover of vanilla I highly recommend this house.

When I first got this I really loved it but my feeling have cooled a bit, just a like for me now with no urges to wear it usually. The clove just became too much for me. You must really like or love clove for this perfume to work well I think. The vanilla is definitely present, but the peppers, cinnamon, and clove are very strong on it. Barely sweet, really more about spice. I think this is too spicy/heavy to wear to work. Decent sillage and longevity.

This is gorgeous vanilla! It doesn't cost much at all, but it smells like one of those really expensive Guerlain vanilla perfumes. It's very sophisticated, not too sweet, just beautiful! I bought it blind and I'm so glad I did, totally worth it!

It took a few sniffs for me to figure out what this remind me of....and then it hit me. Joop Pour Homme. Not for the reason you think. They smell nothing alike but Vanille Noire is eerily similar to Joop in terms of being oriental, having a strong vanilla note, and red in liquid color. I have never smelt anything on the market quite like this. This stuff is NOT for everyone but boy oh boy this is divine! I like the composition of dark vanilla meets spicy cinnamon. I was surprised to know that some of the reviewers had longevity issues with this stuff. For me, it was going strong for 5hrs until i took a shower. It's very hard to explain what kind of vanilla this is. All that i can tell you is that you will get a lot of compliments(at least i did). I'm very satisfied with this blind buy. I hope that my review will spark the interest for men to give this a try. Don't be spooked by the gender meter. If you like Joop Pour Homme and Original Santal, then give this one a try.

It's fantastic that UK perfume junkies can now buy this range from M & S, along with many items from the house of Fragonard. This particular fragrance, although not especially long lasting but thats always an individual thing, is worth a try because of its rich almost 'boozy' caramel tone. The spicy undertone makes this a superior 'sweety' fragrance, and it has an adult, expensive and almost edgy feel when worn. It also has a touch of sensual exotica about it because of this spiciness......... it's undoubtably classy and spicy aroma has a sexiness that is unusual in this age of harsh uniform 'perfumes' for women. Finally, it's relatively inexpensive and the simple packaging looks pricey............the whole Vanille range is, to be honest, worth exploring.

I really like this one. It is my favorite "Mexican vanilla" I have tried..Very warm, spicy, without too much of any one note. I am thinking of Dame's Mexican Vanilla and Sylvaine Delacourte's spicy vanilla (Vangelis?) that I have tried with similar notes but just don't work for me...This is also way better than BBW Vanille Noir or Yves Rocher's Vanille Noir too! Dumont's Vanille Noir has good longevity on my skin too...3 sprays and I notice this one all day! Right mix of dark, spice, and of course, vanilla! Not really gourmand to my nose either (YAY!). Vanilla remains the main note but everything else compliments the vanilla, so I love that! Very happy with this one from Laurence Dumont.

reminds me of the famous bath & body works discontinued Vanille Noir (which is a tiny bit more masculine/less sweet/a bit more cocoa) as well as the unsweetened Neonatura Cocoon...both of which are overpriced due to lack of availability. This however, you should stock up at 20 euros a 100 ml bottle. It smells like a lovely spicy vanilla with wafts of Hypnotique Poison. Not much sillage but I don't care. It's definitely a wrist sniffer. spicy but, as I said, not loud. You won't be disturbing anyone unless they're very very close. just delicious. would also make a great layering perfume.

I have 3 perfumes from this house and all have been successful blind buys. I got 3 bottles of lovely perfume for under $50. Some are scoring as high as 4.42/5.00 and that's impressive! Don't be put off by the price! You'll be pleasantly surprised. Tendre Madeline is next on my list and that gets great reviews! Fantastic. My $20 Vanille Violet is really pretty. Sweet, cozy and warm and smells better than some fragrances 10 x the price! They say you get what you pay for but this line of perfumes is an exception to that rule. If you like vanilla...... go for it.

I found this line at B Glowing in the US and I'm so interested in trying them all. It's very affordable and also right up my alley. I'm not a fan of sickly sweet gourmands, but I can rarely resist vanilla bourbon with cinnamon, cloves, and ylang ylang. The color of this juice stands out in my collection. Many clear, yellow, and golden hues... then this *bam* shade of red.

This is a top high quality vanilla scent. There is nothing synthethic nor artificial in it. Vanilla is sweet, but not overpowering. It is not the kind of a "tasty" or "candy-type" vanilla. You don't want to lick you wrist when you have it on ;) It is discreet, not tiring but overdosing might cause a headache. Two spritz should be enough. Beautiful perfume.

Boozy dark vanilla that reminds me of blackstrap molasses. It's sticky, mildly spicy and warm. Smells of ingredients being assembled for a delicious dessert. Or imagine a bunch of vanilla pods being thrown into a bottle of rum. Dark gourmand, high quality and very natural smelling.

Oh wow first of all my bottle is a very dark burgundy brown colour, it's amazing. The perfume starts spicy, almost like a rum/aged conjac barrel, woody note. Then you get a rose heart. Vanilla in here is never sweet. This perfume isn't sweet at all, just a cosy spiced rose.

Coca-Cola! That's what I get in the opening before it dries down to a dark, sweet, spicy vanilla. A blind buy success for me!

I recently tested it. Very well done, yummy, sugary and long lasting. Makes me think about miel citron de l'occitane and L.
