Dulce Pear

My husband walked by as I was unboxing Laurent Mazzone's Dulce Pear--I was pulling long, silky black ribbons away from a dark box with gold lettering and he stopped to stare. "What in the world . . . " "It's my birthday present from France." He gave me the side eye and kept walking, which is probably best, because I was giddy, unwrapping my bottle with childlike glee. On first spray--pear. And not the synthetic pear I've experience in bottles like Givenchy's Irrisistable, and it's even different from the best pear frag I own, Simone Andreoli's Pacific Park. This pear is sweetly natural, perhaps both the flesh and tight, green skins. More sweetly realistic than artificially juicy, perhaps still on the tree and not quite ripe. After that, there's a fresh, aquatic burst--green leaves, lightness. As the scent melts and settles, this is the heart, I think. Towards the base notes, there is subtle creaminess, a bit of sugared caramel or agave? I need a nose better than mine and perhaps not influenced by my SOTD. It's too early in the scent to catch any cedar, so I'll have to wait and see if I can find this note as it wears down. Overall, this is a light, crisp, aquatic-gourmand (is that a thing??). I don't have anything similar to this profile in my collection, so I'm pleased with this blind buy. I also think you'll love this one if you love fresh aquatics or pear notes in all its iterations. This is not a beast frag--on my skin I get moderate to low projection and it lasts about 4-5 hours.

Really delicious fragrance. The initial scent of pear is godly, but fades in about 2h. For me, the base notes last very long and leave a clean sugary smell, but projection remains weak

I went into this one thinking it’d be more of a gourmand. Nope, it’s a fruity freshie with a little brown sugar in the base that ever so slightly nudges it towards gourmand. Opens with fresh, aquatic realistic pear.. dries down to a woody, fresh pear with a hint of caramelized brown sugar. I adore the scent profile but sillage leaves a little to be desired.. it’s moderate for about two hours then a skin scent for another two before it fades completely. For that reason, it’s not full bottle worthy to me (which breaks my heart!).

Initially this smells exactly like apple juice or green apple gummies but then it settles into a nice mix of apple and crisp pear. Although it's a nice scent, I find it quite juvenile and similar to the body sprays that girls would wear in high school. A bit too fruity for my tastes.

Beautiful, light and feminine fragrance. Sadly very quiet. Sits close to the skin and by the mood of it resembles LeLabo Ambrette or Anither13. I wouldn’t say it’s creamy, neither it resembles bubbly fruity shampoo. It could be some sort of skin care with a modern twist to it. This is a very very very quiet luxury:-) I blind bought a full bottle, as I am on a pear note hunt nowadays, but I regret it at all, because I can spray it any time anywhere (certainly not for going out) as frivolously as I like. It’s a modern/trendy take on a pear note, nothing as nose tingling as in JHAG Per Inc. LM’s pear is the one dipped in Nivea cream and sprinkled with brown sugar, fading fast into barely projecting pleasant skin care. JHAG Pear Inc. starts more citrusy fresh but as if someone sprayed pear juice into the bucket filled with ambroxan dust, the dust starts rising and you end up reaching for Claritin. I have both of these frags and like them a lot. Lovely clean feel creations.

don’t let the pear and brown sugar fool you. there is very little that is traditionally edible (in the way we characterize fragrances, as opposed to the way we characterize food) or gourmand about this. it is very much a woody, fresh, aquatic scent. the pear is green on a tree (ripe and tart) rather than caramelized and baked into a dessert (soft and sweet). i asked for a fruity floral gourmand and was sold this. nothing against the fragrance, but we were both set up for disappointment due to the mismatch. back to the drawing board.

A fragrance with a delightful scent, which stays for 2-3 hours, though. It opens with a bright ripe pear then fades a little bit, leaving a soft sugar sweetness with a tint of woodness. I feel comfortable with it.

This sounds intriguing! Would LOVE to test out!
