Scandinavian Crime

This. Is. Magnificent. Opens with hard black peppercorn and cardamom and quickly develops a sweet fir tree note to my nose. There is a heavy dose of a mildly powdery amber and ginger that altogether hits me like an echo of a blend of Prada's Luna Rossa Extreme and Creed's Tabarome. It is not old fashioned but it is nostalgic and comforting. Some corriander creeps in after the first 30 minutes but I never get a fully developed "incense" out of it. To me it had a very "christmas in a bottle" feel but not the commercialized way we think of the holiday in the west but rather candle warmed trees and roasting pinecones and cinnamon pecans in a cast iron skillet. It's intoxicating to me-but that might be the several scent memories this caresses. Gets notably more powdery and ambery as it dries down and while the Oud doesn't make itself known for me, I can sense it's influence. Wish the whole composition projected better though for the very steep prices these bottles command. Scent: 8/10 it's a bit of Jamais Vu. Familiar but unrecognizable. Beautiful composition. Projection: 7/10 for the first hour at best then hits a respectable if not weak for an "extrait" performance at 5/10 till hour 1.5 then down to a 3/10 past hour two-three somewhere. Skin scent for me after hour 3-3.5 surprisingly. Sillage: 9/10 an enormous trail for the first 15 minutes then hits it's stride around 30 minutes in at a restrained 4/10. Quick drop off after the second hour though to virtually none. Longevity: 5/10 shockingly for an extrait, this doesn't last long on me. Side by side with Tiziana Terenzi's Laudano Nero, this composition by LM Parfums is beaten to shame in terms of projection/sillage/longevity. However...the scent does last ages as a skin scent past it's "performance" phases so take that as you will. Would I buy a full bottle: yes, but given the performance, only at a steep discount.

Wow this is an experience. I ordered a bunch of incense perfume samples and this was right at the top. But this one isn't just incense, although incense is present through the life. The opening is really beautiful. It smells like Mexican Coca Cola tastes. Mexican coke is made with natural cane sugar and imo is much different and better than classic coke. The ginger lifts is up and gives it a refreshing quality that smells so good I want to drink it. After that I can feel it transitioning and the cardamom mix kicks in and makes it take on a cinnamon cola quality. You can feel the incense, oud, patch and and labdanum surfacing to make it darker; more medicinal and rich smelling, with an liturgical quality. My first time trying this brand and I'm impressed. Opulent, interesting, and original. Performance 8+ hours with a nice scent bubble until I washed it off. It's easy to overdo because it's beguiling in the open and smells so delicious, so be careful with the trigger until you get a feel for it. Scent 8/10 Performance 8/10

Say incense, say cardamom and I'm already interested. I smelt this one when I visiting one of the local stores, and having no prior knowledge about this house, didn't know what to expect. My first impression was that it is a wonderful, high quality blend that is built around incense. Now, after owning it for a while I can honestly say that it's one of the best incense fragrance I've tried. Thick, wintry, beautiful incense with oud, cardamom, ginger, amber and also sandalwood vanilla and musk at the base (with other notes). The composition is interesting and unique to me. Sometimes when you own so many fragrances, some just smell like so many others you triedown. Not with this one. While incense is the main player, the beauty is in the way other notes compliment it. A true gem imo, especially for incense lovers that also appreciate cardamom and amber. unisex winter over 12 hours on my skin with medium sillage

Wonderful thick incense swirling around with cardamom, pepper and oud. There is a dry quality from the oud but then I get some warmth from the amber and a little kick from the ginger. No aromatic notes but they have evoked this darkness quite well. I don't find it a sinister darkness. It's more warm and enveloping. I guess it's the amber, ginger and labdanum. It actually gets more and more cosy as the pepper, cardamom and oud seem to step back. I've got to admit that I expected some aromatic notes to symbolise the ever present coniferous forest found in all the Scandinavian countries. It starts of really well with some drama but it gets pretty flat quite quickly. I wish all the incense and spice lasted much longer. Average longevity and sillage.

A spellbinding modern Noirish Oud where the central Oud note is beautifully blended with incense, ginger, cardamom, patchouli, sandalwood, labdanum, vanilla to create a haunting study in shades of black and white. Moderate to heavy in sillage and pronounced projection this is a wonderfully blended juice. Perfectly unisex for lovers of slightly darker elements in life. The name I think is a reference to a crime in an cold setting like Scandinavia and the imagery evoked much like shown in the film Insomnia or in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie series. Hauntingly seductive!

This is another great blind buy that came highly recommended by the awesome contributors to this website. I really appreciate you taking the time to help newer people like me chose and understand the marvelous world of fragrances. Beautiful top and middle notes. Reminds me of Terenzi Laudano Nero layered with Arquiste Nanban...this is a really good thing. If you like incense and spices, this one is for you. Base is smokey and spicy. Not overpowering but very classy and subtle. Scent 8.5 Longevity 8 Silage 6 The subtlety is nice Value 9/10 Complements - We will see...

I've been wearing this for several years now, and it remains one of my favorites, although I tend to use it in colder months. There's something about it, at least in cooler weather, that just checks all the boxes for me. It's warm and spicy, but also playful. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but it's also serious enough to be above the normal crowd. This is the perfume equivalent of sitting in front of a warm, crackling fireplace with a stiff and sweetened beverage, a good adventure book (perhaps a crime novel), and a snoring cat on your lap.

This one is a beauty and recommended for cooler evenings. Starts off strong and a bit harsh with incense playing a big role and settles down on my skin as most beautiful and luxurious sandalwood-sweet-amber. The mid part of the evolution has similarities to Costume National, but the dry down is lovely. Unisex and creates a nice scent bubble with above average longevity. Shukran Habibi!

This is a true love. I’ll be purchasing a larger decant as I hunt for a full bottle. I’ve heard of the spicy, fizzy Coca Cola type fragrances but this is the first time I’ve experienced it on my skin. Wow, sweet, spicy and fizzy and delicious. I get a gorgeous woody musky dry down that almost smells like fir. The pepper lingers but it isn’t too much. Delicious.

This smells like a hug from a very well polished woman at midnight mass at Christmas. There's the spices and incense that makes one think of Christmas and church but the smoothness of the musk, vanilla, amber and sandalwood trigger a core memory of the a closeness and humanity of a hug on a cold night.

Got a full bottle of extrait version from facebook group, complete blind buy based on notes. Wow i got it today and some others, and this perfume stands out so much. It is so captivating and beautiful. Smoky and spicy with some nice sweetness underneath. 9/10 for me

Incensy spicy Christmas. Big wave of ginger in the opening. I love it with all of my heart. I need this, at least a sample. 5/5

Stunning scent the ginger incense cardemon combo with the soft sandelwood wich is prominent in this scent is just stunning.

Almost whisky like boozy opening. So surprised there isn't really any such note in it. Anyway, it quickly turns into a truly unisex and wonderful blend of incense, wood and mild spice. It has a lot of character, yet is surprisingly smooth. A bit like getting introduced to an eccentric who shakes your hand a tad bit too hard along with some outrageous statement like 'I like your jaw symmetry', but before you know it you sit and have relaxed and insightful discussion with them. As for longevity, it's okay. It lasts about 4-5 hrs on me, but significantly longer on my clothes. Sillage is only strong initially. But people will smell it on you when you hug them or walk close by them. I think it may perform better in cooler than in the hot weather that I live in. I like it A LOT, but most likely won't buy it, for the reason that to my Indian husband it smells like mandir (temple) and masala market (spice market). Makes sense, looking at the notes I guess. It seems it's basically the Indian equivalent of a 'church'-scent. sigh. Ah heck, I might still get it some day. I feel this would be an amazing fragrance for any occasion were you have to make a professional and characterful impression.

Bought a 2ml sample of this (in my quest for the perfect cardamom fragrance) This is VERY similar to Narcotic Elixir by Welton London. Even the bottle looks similar. Dominant, sweet, spicy, warm, ambery, CARDAMOM. I don't get any incense or ginger or woods. I feel like Narcotic is deeper, darker, greener and more alive (probably thanks to the davana?) and more PURPLE. I feel like this one is just lacking, not adding anything new, unfortunately (at least to my nose). It's ever so slightly more tangy, but only on "scientific" comparison on paper -on skin it's mostly imperceptible. it's also lacking the leather or kashmir wood that ground the Elixir (i don't feel like anything grounds this one). I would have loved if this was more tangy, more woodsy, anything to make it different and unique.. It's also lacking in performance... Sword Dancer differs from both by being darker still, and boozy. All in all - It's a wonderful fragrance, and if Narcotic Elixir or Sword Dancer (HFC) didn't exist, I'd take it. but, alas.

I underestimated this at first. Did a blind buy based on the notes and the dark aesthetic, and my first wear was underwhelming. Hours later on skin, I found the musk grew in scratchiness and dominated the experience. But I'm having a different experience today. First of all, it's not a beast of a scent. It doesnt project like crazy, the way other scents of this profile can, which is great. Now at the end of the day, I was so surprised to get a warm, creamy spiced citrus and sandalwood note, like a hot mulled wine, that reads much more natural and pleasant. I'm a light sprayer and only sprayed once, but could go for more next time around. Don't sniff it from the nozzle, there are subtler notes that come out with wear.

Great top notes, but nothing special besides that. I have a very strong impression that nearly EVERY niche house has this kind of fragrance in their current portfolio. So I pass bying the full bottle.
