Soleil Infidele

My search for a coconut perfume is over. I stumbled upon this by accident - as with most fragrances I fall in love with. I genuinely cannot comprehend how this isn’t talked about in the coconut-lover sphere. This is a creamy, slightly candied coconut, balanced by fresh sea notes and a faint flower which I presume is the orchid. As opposed to Sunkissed Goddes by Kilian or Mancera Coco Vanille, this doesn’t smell like cheap sunscreen. Longevity is great, as with most LM frags.

The coconut in this is one of the most delicious and addictive, so fresh and just a little bit sweet. This is how I imagined Virgin Island Water from Creed would smell like from the name. It is like a combination of nutty, tropical, breezy and watery coconut with a fresh men’s cologne.

absolute love. it smells like vanilla and coconut. a more subtle version of matiére premier vanilla powder. i feel like i'm in hawaii, on a white lotus resort. but I would wear this in any weather.

It was love at first sniff, I bought a decant thinking happily that I got my hands on a piece of tropical haven for those who wish for summer to last forever, which is exactly the type of fragrance I need in my life. God it absolutely was a breath of fresh air. Until it wasn't. Back then my only complaint was that the performance was rather mediocre compared to what the people were saying but after a while it got strong - really strong - and now I can't stand it because it just assaults my sinuses in the worst way possible. I've experienced a lot of perfumes I can only describe as horrendous, and none ever made my nostrils burn like Soleil Infidele which isn't an off-putting scent at all. I don't know what went wrong. It smells pretty much the same except the marine accord is way more pronounced now and it makes me feel like some nasal sprays do. It also overpowers coconut and vanilla. I spray 2 times max. Welp, it was nice while it lasted. 😭

Well, it's certainly alluring. Warm, sweet, lactonic, floral, heady but the intensity is balanced out by the sea notes capably, so it's not heavy. This juice is like a siren calling out to you: there's an ominous vibe (the almost too-sweet element) but you can't help but be enchanted and go all in. It's not mentioned as a note but I get intense osmanthus; however, this could just be my own chemistry. My skin is an aggressive idiot that turns most fragrances into generic mashes, so, after an hour, this ended up smelling very close to Vents & Marees by Molinard, which is bizarre as they have little in common, notes-wise. It's a lovely blend but I find it way too expensive for what you get.

I got a free sample of this. While nice, it isn't very impressive. Sort of a second grade Carnal Flower with much less tuberose and a lot more coconut. 2.5/5
