Anori

Anori smells clean and natural. If I were to describe this in pictures I would say you've just been to the luxury spa at the hotel and now you're in a white bathrobe, walking barefoot at the resort beach with wind in your hair. You feel renewed and at peace. It smells crisp and clean. Not usually my genre, but I find this gorgeous. It's a slightly sharp and spicy magnolia scent with salty wood. As described, but still a surprise to my nose. Le Couvent's webpage describes the basenotes as cedarwood essence and sea spray. Anori is very floral and I agree with the other reviewers - it leans feminine. Very lovely! Le Couvents perfumes always smells so natural, never any annoying synthetic aspects. Compositions may be simple, but that is a strength not a drawback imo. I never find their perfumes boring - quite the contrary! I layered this over Fort Royal yesterday and loved the combo. It is great layered with Theria too.

A bright jasminic magnolia. With a touch of green touch of woodiness. 100% certain the note table is too simple. Gorgeous, not overbearing, unisex with a slight feminine bias and an almost laundry freshness. My choice for a mature quality magnolia though I prefer Fueguia Agua Magnoliana which is a boozy Magnolia. Extremely good value for money as is Kinthos in this brand.

Smells like caramel mixed with magnolia. Beautiful blind buy. Nose to skin I can detect the cardamom over a slightly greened magnolia. The driftwood is there in the background adding a very slight dry almost salty bite on top. Very nice indeed - another great buy together with Kynthos.

The dry down of this is a bit similar to the dry down of Citron Soleil by Rochas, but with an extra breeze of coastal air. It's musky, cozy, bright and fresh. I love it. The opening was not completely to my taste, but this dry down makes it all worthwhile.

Beautiful feminine floral-aquatic. I get the salty aquatic feel, but magnolia dominates. Sadly too feminine for me, but here’s a great aquatic summer scent for women. Long-lasting too. One of the best Le Couvents.

Compared to Solano, this one smells cleaner. It’s a unique scent, a touch of the sea softened by the sweetness of magnolia. I like it, and it’s easy to wear all day.

2019/2020 Update: just purchased the "Anori" perfume, not in database yet. Here's a short review: ...so It is called "Anori", it is by Jean-Claude Ellena (one of my fave perfumers, love his work), and belongs to the "Parfums remarquables" range from French perfumer "le couvent des minimes". It smells of both magnolia (white floral) and salty sea water/driftwood. My first impression:Wonderful for both day and night, all year round (though maybe not for the hottest summers). ----- In hindsight, I realized that I bought a full bottle of this scent a bit too quickly (impulse purchase). I actually went into the store in order to get a sniff of the "Millefiori" cologne of the same range, but it was out of stock that day and so ended up with this. In the store, it did smell beautiful and feminine but... once at home, I realized this was more "home freshener" material as many here I've pointed out. I reluctantly recycled this as a bathroom air freshener, I spray it on my bath towels after I shower. I found a way to avoid such purchase mistakes in the future, taking advantage of a recent marketing "trick" that seems very popular. A lot of perfumes houses now offer a "discovery set" of their full perfume samples for a small fee, sending samples that you can order online. Then you can take your time trying each sample (less impulse buys), and order a full bottle of a fragrance you actually like, took the time to test, and deduce (that's the marketing trick in question) the price of the samples set off the price of the full bottle. It's a much better way to buy perfumes. I highly recommend it.

Not what I was expecting. A blind buy. Very fresh, feminine, cold, aerie, strong magnolia and aquatic notes. Spring in a bottle. Similar to the L'eau d'Issey Issey Miyake. Surprisingly "Anori" has a huge silage - it projects very well. Great for office in small dosages & spring/summer events. The artsy packaging and the black heavy bottle is very well made.

It smells a bit spicy at first, then it turns into a heavy floral. It smells like a white floral fragrance. I thought magnolia was lighter in smell.

It smells floral at the opening, very shortly, and then turns into pee. Unfortunate.

At the moment it’s sprayed and for those few seconds when it’s still wet, Anori smells like fruity magnolia. But after those few seconds it turns very similar to cleaning detergents, the ones that are usually blue with an ‘ocean’ label. Anori is more floral and the scent is ok - but it reminds me so much of bathroom refresheners etc that I can not wear it as a perfume.

Bright magnolia with its citrusy nuances and some green, almost sappy qualities. In the background there is prominent seawater note - fresh, almost clean (which is very opposite of those salt heavy scents, which may translate as harsh and coarse salt). Not much of a driftwood, though, but there is some woods to ground the composition. Moderate sillage, airy and refreshing scent trail, however on skin Anori may get even detergent/softener like. Long lasting. Unisex, but depends on what one is used to wear - it is mostly floral. Beautiful in warmer weather on sunny, windy days. Anori is OK, but more noteworthy is this scent profile, which seems underused. Light and bright floral dominance with present seawater and wood juxtaposition, where the aquatic quality is not overshadowed by citrus or other aromatic notes.

I got a 50ml bottle last month. You really don't get the florals in full bloom until you wear it on skin... it has an odd effect, the sweet florals stay close to the skin while the scent that spreads around you is more on that airy & aquatic side. The magnolia can be dense and sort of chewy, but I wouldn't call it intense. In a sense it feels liminal, like the journey from winter to spring. Everything's still moist from melting snow and ice, but the flowers are already starting to bloom.

Nice but kind of indeterminate. Watery salty with pale floral notes, but not the lemony Southern Magnolia flower I was looking for. The magnolia note is very sweetly floral first on, and eclipses the sea notes. Smells more like Mimosa; honey sweet. Overall it's pretty, but it's very sweet on me, and I don't love sweet.

Not a lover of marine notes but the 'driftwood' is the highlight here, and shines especially when you leave this on some paper and come back to it. The opening, however, is very floral and unfortunately my skin also seems to emphasize the magnolia over the salty woody aspect.

I second the airfreshner comment. Do not blind buy, unfortunately I did. It is nothing like I expected. I really wanted to like it, but to me it straight up just smells like one of those sprays you use in the bathroom..

I have several Couvent perfumes, I love them but this one is tricky. I cannot detect anything but lilly-of-the-valley. I wish I could smell a bit of Arctic or something. But nope. Only this flower.

When i was a kid, we had this generic airfreshner "Ocean Wave" and Anori brought back the memories. Synthetic and not a good perfume to me.
