Aqua Mysteri

I always enjoyed fresh, aquatic perfumes, or any kind of perfume that was surprising me with a certain unknowable quality, like they are somewhere on the border between the material and the spiritual. I bought this as a blind buy, because I like Neroli and it's creator, Ellena, said about it that it is "bright". My impression is the same, it has that magic I was looking for, with a hint of sweetness. After about 30 minutes, when all the sharp notes soften, the best part begins. From then on, it's so wonderful, so delicate, balanced, soft and airy but comforting at the same time. It developes more complexity than the opening makes you expect. For me, it is a definite winner. Do try it on skin if you consider getting the right impression, I liked it better than on paper. Also, being vegan is always a plus.

Fills the role of fresh clean easy cistrus green scent for daytime wear in the spring and summer while also being slightly off the beaten path. Whenever i think i might enjoy having something like TF Portofino Neroli or DG Light Blue or CK One in my scent wardrobe i remind myself i have this and it gives off much the same vibe. Is it a pot on dupe for any of them? No. But it is obviously the same kind of scent categoy and very enjoyable.

I was mad at this house when they sold their label a few years ago. The Minime's Covent (17th century) from Provence's Mane, not far from Sisteron which is on the High Alps Road leading from Geneva lake to Grasse, and its unique skin care and Fragrance production based entirely on natural Provence ingrédients and old recepies from the Covent's sisters ... they were unique in the world for their quality/price ratios. The new owners discontinued everything and released new products 3 or 4 times more expensive... However, this composition caught my attention because quality comes close to what they made in the past, though it takes a guy like Elena to achieve it. Adela7 well describes the shift from an incredible green opening (Palmarosa) to the floral facets of sweeter neroli, all of this based on delicately expressed woody-aromatic cedar. Fortunately I don't get any watery-misty calone-indolic-like facets we sometimes find in Elena's or now Nagel's juices... So here we have a nice composition, modernized with a big and sad uptick in price ! I guess somehow we have to pay for the name.... but in the same family of hypergreens I prefer Vuitton's Cactus Garden with a better longevity, despite a still further uptick in price.

It takes a bit of time to fully acclimatize to Ellena's version of what a cologne is/should be, but once that happens the aesthetic just becomes a point of reference. I can't 'smell' other colognes now like before, but only with reference to this whole line of colognes by Ellena for this house. I am not suggesting that they are 'better'. But they introduce an element of surprise (or twist depending on your viewpoint) that sets them apart. This one is no exception. The grapefruit is quite strong at the beginning, to the point where it turns the orange blossom more 'lemony' than expected. Definitely different to Palmaris, which is neroli in full swing (but develops into something sweet). The twist arrives courtesy of palmarosa, which personally I view as a sort of vetiver-y note. It's this slightly bitter, slightly woody shade that one finds so often in Elllena compositions, yet gives a certain depth and interest in what would have been a straight forward cologne. Refereshing, unusual and rather elegant.

Absolutely agree with the reviewer who said this is 4711 with better performance. Imagine taking 4711 and giving all its elements more depth and fullness so that it actually lasts. I'm excited to have found it. It's a wonderful fresh, zingy citrus perfume and I'm looking forward to rocking it in summer and spraying it on my husband.

This is a lovely, simple, green, fresh orange blossom. Maybe a tad sweeter than the "pure neroli" Aqua Palmaris, with grapefruit and palmarosa (don't know what that smells like). Note de tête : Pamplemousse Note de cœur : Fleur d’Oranger & Palmarosa Note de fond : Cèdre

For me this is a clon of 4711, but with far better preformance. I dont really smell any Dior Homme in this.

Citruses + neroli is not at all ground-breaking and known to anyone. It is the palmarosa addition what makes this scent a bit different and interesting. I'd echo someone saying it smells something between vetiver and bitter geranium-like note. Perhaps a clash of neroli and palmarosa creates this geranium experience. On me it's much more sharp, fresh and green than citrusy, which sort of disappointed me. I expected more calm, less green scent to emerge in the drydown, but exactly when it started to happen, the whole fragrance faded away. No orange garden here, just a step into the dewy, wild grass. It's perfectly unisex, excellent to wake up in the morning and then... apply some other fragrance on your skin before going out.

When you as a fraghead (lemon addict) collector spot a 100 ml bottle of this juice from an amazing brand from the southern parts of France for 24 Euro in the nearest TK Max made by the legendary master perfumer Jean Claude Ellena you just grab it. Neroli, grapefruit and bitter greens with a light woody musk base is the minimalistic note breakdown. This is done many times by so many brands and perfumers but nevertheless I really like this one. The fall has fallen in and the leaves are turning red, yellow and brown. The memories of a wonderful warm sunny summer is in the back of my mind. A natural smelling citrus neroli opening and a dry almost bitter green herbal heart that gives an energetic zing. This could be a Rodrigo Flores-Roux perfume. Because to me this smells like a mixture between Neroli Portofino and Varvatos Artisan Pure. But done in Ellena Hermes style, with aearyness and elegant silage. Performance is around 4,5 hours on skin. Exactly what to expect from this kinda cologne that contains 92% natural ingredients. Yes, a happy joyful purchase!

I chanced on 200ml of Mysteri for 25E. As a fan of Palmeris I took the chance. People mention 4711 and they are similiar. Mysteri is very tangy at the top and this sweet&sour vibe continues for some time. Id say the notes are more elevated than 4711 and it is acidic and lively. Couvent's Aquas have this style - minimal, but not conventional. Mysteri and Palmeris are among the more approachable Couvent colognes, because they are not funky vegetal earthy designs. Note that my new in box bottle - of a citrus cologne, dates to the launch, so 6 years in a bottle is a bit long for a simple cologne. I'm sure it's discontinued as Couvent has it marked down on their website as well. I'm going to put it in a splash bottle and use it generously this summer. Which makes sense at 25 bucks for 200ml. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it again.

To me this has a similar 'incense' note to Aqua Paradisi (rose & pelargonium), and sure enough Le Couvent's own website describes palmarosa as evoking both rose and geranium due to a common molecule, rhodinol. It's wrapped in a fresher and cooler package here thanks, no doubt, to the stronger citrus top and middle notes and the cedar base. So if I had to choose I'd take this over Paradisi. Still, to me this is not at all the orange garden in bloom they intended to convey. It's likely to be a problem on my end, but the intended message just isn't coming across. Instead I'd say, of the ones I've been able to sample, this and Paradisi are closest to smelling like an actual convent (their namesake after all).

Aqua Mysteri is transparent and zingy and truly fresh; you will _feel_ refreshed when you spray it on. A citrus that almost has a hint of aloe-- less sweet than an orange blossom. It's very natural smelling and doesn't last long (on me, anyway) but the light touch is part of the appeal.

Simple fresh scent with green nuances. Very citric obviously, and the neroli gives it a soapy edge. It's very run of the mill, nothing you haven't smelled before. Perfect for very hot summers, although its longevity is decidedly short. Average, but nothing special. 6/10

Very lemony. Actually kinda similar to Dior Homme Cologne, but a bit more green. Quite clean and fresh, a slight bit soapy. I'm personally not much for citrus scents, but if you like things like Dior Homme Cologne this could be an interesting option.
