Cologne of Love

A bombastically sweet vanilla (though not in the notes it constitutes the entire base here) fragrance with orange and orange blossom stripes all over. My boyfriend sniffed this on me and said it smelled like artificial orange drink, like Tang, for those of you who are familiar-not exactly a compliment and not what I want to smell like to others. I'm starting to think this brand and I were never meant to get along. The one in the blue bottle advertised as vanilla was thoroughly underwhelming, and the rose one in the red bottle smelled like straight up bathroom deodorant. Most of the colognes I have tried from LCDM, contain at least one artificial-smelling component which stands out enough that it's impossible to ignore. Now I'm not against fragrances which smell artificial, in fact I own and love quite a few. It's just that with sweet celebrity scents you know exactly what you're getting into. The packaging and the back story as well as the list of natural things included here all suggest a higher tier than this orange drink manages to reach. I still kind of love it through all my disillusionment, but I probably won't be owning it now that I know my bf thinks it stinks. Update- I own it now even though it's not fresh at all, seriously too vanilla-sweet and my boyfriend hates it. Sometimes the world makes no sense.

Don't look further for the best cologne with the most refined orange flower : this can compete with niche, high-end colognes, who are charged double or triple. I was searching for a good replacement of my vintage Hermes orange verte, wow, I found it with this one without any regret that it is just a weak copy ! No, Couvent's Cologne of Love is such a sparkling cologne but which is to me quite feminine and soft although it is a good unisex cologne but it is definitively not a boring simplistic mainstream cologne , much more refined than you would expect (due to the wild rose & nasturica) and with an amazing longevity : it lasts longer than average mainstream EDP perfumes on the market, a proof that Couvent is giving the high quality at really good price, no one can beat them in that category. And try all the others, I love the whole range !!

FRACKING AMAZING SCENT! If this was available for more people to sniff -- it would be hard to keep on the shelf. This scent is all about Orange Blossom with creamy vanilla. It is a sweet, wet, fresh, orange blossom. While sweet, it has this delicate floral undertone to it that really balances the fragrance and makes it BEE-U-TIFUL! The seville orange (bergamot) and petigrain -- mmm lovely balance to the whole composition. Excellent choice if you like orange blossom. If you like sweet perfumes you might really enjoy this one -- lightly floral yet still sweet. If you like the scent of an orange creamsicle, you will like this too - while no vanilla, it is a creamy sweet floral orange. Longevity about 6.5 hours via splash bottle, sprayed on - lasts 4 hours unless you spray a LOT. Similar perfumes: Nobile 1942 Perdizione Pacifica Nerola Blossom

About a month ago, I received a decant of this from a lovely Fragrantican (Thank you!!) as I was looking for a true orange blossom fragrance. I fell in love with it at first spritz! This is like sticking your nose in an orange blossom; it must be a bee's dream! It is not the orange fruit but the actual blossom. It's sweet and floral and long lasting for a cologne. I like to spray it in my hair so I get wafts of it all day. Cologne of Love is a Summer breeze bottled. Do yourself a favor and buy this---it's inexpensive on Amazon and I got mine from Ulta.

I got this as present with the soap. And when i tried it it was wow. you have to get used to the scent. It is a bit creamy-citric-floral scent that is very long-lasting for this cologne. It is very nice and relaxing espc. after a hard long day. It belongs in the tradition of the scents typical for French monasteries who produces soap-tablets and eau de toilettes according to very old formulas and with natural ingredients. This is a very great cologne for all day use with very good quality.

Some days this is bright and sunny orange blossom (sometimes with sweet mandarin), and other days the rose comes in with petitgrain as a sophisticated splash fragrance. I am not a fan of cologne because it fades so fast, but this one is worth the price and has good longevity. I didn't know it came in a huge 8.4 oz bottle, and that's the one I chose. It's just so pleasant and like aromatherapy. I only wish it had a cap for the spray and not just as a splash option.

Just received a nice sized decant of this heavenly little beauty in a swap. Like most of us members of this community, I have a lot of fragrances. Niche, vintage, designer, drugstore. Never tried this brand before, and my findings are this: Cologne of Love is not expensive. It is not flashy or impressive. Not a cult name. But oh... my... Lord... it is really one of the most absolutely beautiful scents I've ever smelled. Paradise. Found.

Like spraying yourself with a peaceful summer day. I spent last spring in southern Spain and, walking past orange groves, the air was filled with a scent like this. Beautiful, very feminine,I suppose, but that ain't gonna stop me!

It is very nice but not as potent as I was hoping for. Silly I know as it is only cologne. I will use it in the few warm days we have over here. It is quite weak though so dont expect any more of it.

I totally get the Froot Loops someone mentioned below, as well as fortune cookie! Very fresh and lovely, sitting close to the skin.

Smells really nice, not sweet at all. Smells like orange and green/herbal. On my skin it reminds me of Diptyque's Oyedo

Sweet, natural orange blossom is the story of Eau Aimable, a fairly new launch (2012) by the house of Le Couvent des Minimes, which has been specializing in botanical recipes since 1862. I love these kinds of colognes: they smell so clean and refreshing and serve the purpose for which the original historical colognes were intended. True, we bathe much more frequently in the modern world, but it's still nice to reach for this sort of olfactory pause on days such as today, which promises to push the 90F mark. Eau Aimable is on the sweet side and is not at all soapy (à la Prada Infusion de Fleur d'Oranger), but it still smells clean somehow, and not in the house of Clean way. This is not an abstract chemical soup, it's a wonderful combination of natural essences. I bought a huge jug because I'm basically a cologne glutton. (Know thyself!) I pour it into a smaller atomizer bottle for spritzing. Anyone who likes sweet orange blossom perfumes is bound to like this, and even if you find some of them too cloying (Elie Saab, the one from Kilian...), this one may work for you. But it is sweet, so no one who dislikes sweet perfumes will like this creation. In fact, given the sweetness level here, another group of people who might enjoy Eau des Minimes would be the celebrity scent crowd. The difference is that this one smells natural, unlike those. It also costs less, amazingly enough. I consider this to be a fantastic budget niche bargain, as are all of the salubrious botanical colognes from this house. Splash on!

What a discovery! I knew Couvent des Minimes for their skincare line and I tried some of their colognes in the past. Then I ordered a bottle of Eau Aimable on the verge of its discontinuation – just based on the notes: it was a bargain and I am always in the hunt for a good, fresh spring/summer fresh cologne. Blind buy. A treasure! It’s a fresh cologne that is centered on fresh, non-indolic, neroli-like orange blossoms. Orange blossom and mandarin orange dominate but they’re not artificial, just pure and fresh, like right out of a botanical garden. The bergamot adds some fruity zestiness, the heart is a wild rose giving this frag a very feminine touch. Together with petitgrain they compliment each other perfectly. And a candied orange note that is sweet but not syrupy, very gentle and non-gourmand like. Just simply appealing. I am reminded of Bond n.9 Little Italy - I loved that candied orange note - however Eau Aimable was way cheaper than Bond n.9 and absolutely long lasting! That was the amazing discovery. The lasting power. For a cologne this lasting power is simply amazing. At least 5-6 hours on me, which is unheard of. If fades gently but you still can smell it at the end of your long day. This is a winner for summer months. PS I have a full 250ml bottle bought as back-up that I'll never use, so it's up for sale. Europe only!!

I've been sampling lots of lovely orange blossom scents these past couple of weeks, because spring is making me crave them, and this is without a doubt the very best one when it comes to price/quality. If you're looking for a wonderful neroli fragrance, this is a must-try, and if you happen to be on a budget as well, this one might be considered a godsend. Eau Amaible isn't quite as natural as Hermès' Eau de Néroli Doré, for example, or quite as well-balanced in its sweetness as L'Artisan's Séville à l'Aube, but in both of these respects it comes pretty damn close for a fragrance that can be had for the official price of 8,40 Euro for a 30 ml bottle (and big bottles are even cheaper per ml!). And longevity isn't bad at all either, considering it's a cologne - I get good sillage for an hour or two, and then a lovely skin scent lingers for the rest of the day. I have to say I'm very impressed by this brand - really the very best "cheapies" around, at least from those I've tried. I've ordered a gift set with all of Le Couvent's currently available colognesand look forward to spending the warmer months with them. An extra bonus is that the marketing lets you fantasize about a simple life spent in a medieval convent, gathering natural ingredients to make colognes...

On me, Eau Aimable is mainly fluffy orange blossom with juicy mandarine pulp hiding within. The orange blossom here is undoubtedly sweet, but feels translucent at the same time, which prevents it from being cloying. The gentle touch of indole also helps to prevent it being full-on gourmand. I too find there's a vanilla undertone, which slightly reminds me of By Kilian Sweet Redemption. The sillage is moderate to close and the longevity is around 8 hours. The balance between creamy sweetness and cologne-like translucency makes Eau Aimable a lovely choice in cool weather as well as a sunny spring day. Moreover, it's also quite affordable. If you're looking for a straightforward yet well-composed sweet orange blossom, I think Eau Aimable definitely worths a try.

Hello smiley! This is real cologne. It's slightly sweet, tart and refreshing. Orange blossom scents can go soapy and this doesn't at all. It opens with a strong bergamot note on my skin and clothes, after a few minutes, the orange blossom and some fresh green notes appear. The longevity for this is amazing considering it's a cologne, I get at least eight hours wear and the sillage is pretty good even for my chronically stuffy nose. Considering the price and the good quality of this and of course the amazing way it smells, I would definitely recommend this for those looking for a bargain/cologne/orange blossom/fresh scent.

This is very nice in summer. I keep a bottle in the fridge and spritz liberally when I get home. The opening is creamsicle + orange blossom. This faces quickly and it becomes more of a vanilla fragrance. The vanilla, like it's cousin Eau des Missiones, is somewhat akin to Spiritueuse Double Vanille. Here the orange blossom sticks around and complicates things nicely. Surprisingly for a natural cologne it lasts quite awhile (6-8 hours) even in really hot weather.

nice...similar to discontinued Yves Rocher Miel. I like this one and surely is good, however, find it too sweet. Would nonetheless find it smelling great on other people. additionally, there's some nuances of hay sometimes...this warm fuzziness stops it from going to acidic. if you're looking for a fresh bright citrus, this is not it. This is dense syrupy flowers. Orange blossom usually turns funny on my skin but not this one.

This is simply a very sweet, creamy orange blossom. No muss, no fuss. If you don't like your orange blossom soapy or sharp, this is for you. It's sugary (probably due to an unlisted vanilla note), but still very natural smelling. I'm surprised this isn't more popular, and even more surprised at how Les Couvents consistently manages such high quality at such reasonable prices.

Hello sunshine! Eau Aimable starts off with a burst of orange blossom and a bit of fruit pulp. Bright, uplifting and happy this lovely cologne dries down to a powdery clean, slightly vanillic creamy orange blossom that lingers a good 6-9 hours before it becomes a mere whisper. The perfect orange blossom, non indolic and perfectly charming.

Summer sunset .... ... love ... orange blossom sweetened ... you do not need great performance for this perfume ... is a skin perfume and must be so ... why is the fragrance of love ... 8/10

This is a gorgeous orange blossom cologne! It is sweet and creamy, I imagine it taste like pastries made with orange blossom water. Is a pick me up scent, can't wait to try it on warm summer morning. It has great longevity and sillage moderate.

Nice sweet orange blossom scent. The first stage is a bit too soapy for my taste, but later it settles into a nice sweet and summery scent. Longevity is moderate on my skin, which I think is good enough considering it's a cologne.

To me, this one smells just like fruit loops. A very happy and buoyant fragrance, good for a summer day.

Oh man am I glad I didn't blind buy this one (I totally almost did based on reviews and my love for orange!). This is a dead ringer for the similarly-named Love by Kilian. I'm really surprised nobody has mentioned that yet. Maybe because Kilian isn't quite as widely sampled. But they're both overwhelmingly sugary and quite potent. The orange blossom is potent, but it's completely overtaken by the sweetness for me. I was hoping it'd make a nice summer scent. Alas, it's quite reminiscent of a particularly colourful breakfast cereal... Apparently love smells like fruit loops.

Unlike most people I'm disappointed in this. In theory it contains many aspects I normally love - I'm a big fan of orange blossom and citrus generally, and I like sweet fragrances if they're done well. But this is quite synthetic to my nose, which surprised me as many people seem to find it natural-smelling. It's also remarkably strong for a cologne, which stops it being refreshing, and the sweetness is somehow sticky and a bit overwhelming. In fact this was a scrubber for me, as I began to feel quite nauseated after a few minutes. Such a shame.

The idea of this really appealed but on it was old lady plus citrus dish soap. Maybe it's a body chemistry thing. Edit: having tested a whole bunch more scents now - my skin hates orange. Don't know why but orange almost always turns harsh and overwhelming and generally icky on me. So obviously this one is not going to be good for me.

I bought this one a year later than fleur d'oranger but they are quite similar. Sweet, and long-lasting. On a hot day layer with crisp citrus ... I mixed it up in a bottle with 2/5 Marc Jacobs Grapefruit and 1/5 Happy in Bloom/Clinique.....

Love the brand but this one I like least....to sweet almost siropy. Helas, I own a big bottle of this one...blind buy, it's a risk.

I've been curious about this perfume for awhile and kept it in the back of my mind to maybe purchase a bottle blind online if I saw it being sold for a good price. That happened the other day when I managed to snag a 250ml bottle for only £9 from a UK website because its box was apparently slightly battered! So, imagine my anticipation of the arrival of this big bottle of perfume I'd been wondering about for awhile ... Sadly, I'm deflated! It arrived today and, of course, I tore into the packaging excitedly, pulled the bottle out and sniffed ... hmm, slightly musty, sweet, sticky, honey'ish, slightly face powder'ish / incense'ish / Parma Violet'ish ... not what I was hoping for at all! I was expecting it to be much fresher, with a Mediterranean vibe, maybe a little sweet, but not like this at all. I put some on my wrists and gave it half an hour or so to settle and 'meld' with my skin and chemistry but, alas, it still smelled exactly the same half an hour + later. So, I decided to put a splash of Bien Etre on my wrists too, hoping that that may make it more appealing to my senses but that's quite herbal and seems to evaporate quickly (that was another blind buy .. oh dear, I'm on a roll with these perfume blind buys again!!) so the Le Couvent des Minimes won out and overpowered it! I am kind of getting used to the smell though and I don't find it awful, just not necessarily my cup of tea, sadly. It may grow on me though (I certainly hope it does now that I've got a very large, heavy bottle of it taking up space!). Oh, also. I disagree with the people who have compared this to 4711. I grew up with 4711 in our family so am very familiar with that cologne and, to my nose, Le Couvent des Minimes smells nothing like that at all! 4711 is MUCH fresher and clearer smelling and is, like many colognes, refreshing to wear, especially in hot, sticky summertime. I do though agree with one reviewer who said her boyfriend (who apparently hates this!) said it smells like an artificial orange drink, like Tang. It really kind of does! It's definitely NOT a sexy perfume and I doubt many men would love the smell of this on a woman so any woman looking for a man magnet type of perfume should definitely look elsewhere! P.S. I'm confused about what brand this perfume actually is! On Amazon it says it's by L'Occitane but I don't see that name anywhere on the box my bottle came in! On the box it says it's manufactured for AHP (whoever they are!).

This perfume arrived to me shattered in the mail. It is not the perfume's, fault, poor thing but the horrible seller who thought a loose jiffy bag was sufficient protection of a large glass bottle of this precious liquid. Ugh. I really hate ebay sometimes. The beautiful candied orange blossoms tantalized me from the broken shards of glass. Being the passionate perfumista I am, I tried saving as much of Minimes as I could by splashing it all over my wrists, neck, desperately trying to squeeze the last few drops from the jiffy bag into the bottom of that broken bottle. For Minimes is a beauty, delicious candied oranges, wild roses and flowers. Selmya Hayak dressed as a flamenco dancer comes to mind, dressed in a gorgeous red chiffon ensemble with a red poppy in her hair (OK I may have been watching a bit of Ugly Betty recently). But that character Sofia Reyes she plays? First getting Daniel to fall in love with her and propose then revealing it was all just a cruel trick for a magazine stunt? Weirdly relatable to how I felt when receiving that smashed perfume...a beautiful promise shattered by the harsh reality. I cut two of my fingers while trying to save Minimes, but sadly the fractures were two severe. She is in my life no more. But I will always have the memories of those gorgeous candied orange blossoms mixed with blood haunting me. I know this will seem overly dramatic (I am giggling a bit while typing!) But this was my experience. I could try ordering another Minimes, but I think I am still a bit in mourning over that tragic beauty. What a world! *Flounces off*

I've tried many different orange blossom / neroli fragrances and this is the first one that gives me a very clear and direct association with 4711 Original Eau de Cologne, which my mom used to use when I was young. Consequently, this is ike a time machine for me, transporting me straight back to my childhood. I wonder if there's anyone else who catches the same association, or is it just my chemistry and nose? Having said the above, I do like this scent also on it's own merits, so to say, not just because a similar scent was my mom's favourite and it brings back good memories. This is a very fresh orangey scent, best suited for summer use, also in very hot and humid climates. Very refreshing, has a unisex feel to it, but in a good way. Not too sharp at all, but nice and soft. Very wearable for both sexes, not too sweet, yet still leaning more on the feminine side. Lasts surprisignly long on me with a pretty good sillage, which I wasn't expecting this being a cologne. I'm actually wearing this now in the middle of the winter as well, layering this with vanilla based scents. This gives me an impression of an orange flavoured cake, which is I love to eat during winter time. A combination to try for all gourmand lovers like me.

When I want to be reminded of my hometown, or the journey back from college to home - I wear this. It is the scent of dusk in South Florida. Mingle this with some night blooming jasmine and it is just...perfection. On me, this smells almost singularly of orange blossom, with a tiny hint of petitgrain. Orange blossom is very sweet. Very. I don't mind the sweetness of Eau Aimable because it smells natural...so lovely. Like a warm, Florida night! Clean, fresh, sweet, and totally enchanting. A very happy fume! And very affordable. Probably best worn on spring and summer days- or when you want to be reminded of them on a day in winter. Excellent longevity, and moderate sillage. Perfect. This will always be in my scent collection. The Cologne of Love, for me, the cologne of home!

This is nice and on me, it does seem to last quite a long time. I bought it based on a review from this site which stated this fragrance reminded them of L'Occitanne Neroli (the original one and my very favorite). There is a similarity, but it is definitely not the same. I purchased it on eBay and am happy with the scent. I will have to look for the soap as other reviewers have noted that it is very good. I really wish L'Occitanne would find a way to bring back their original Neroli as it is extremely hard to find even on eBay (unless you want to pay 200-300 dollars). All in all. I am happy with this and love to wear it all year long.

This is a delightful summer perfume and intensely nostalgic for me. It does, however, smell like fruit loops on my skin! Far sweeter than my usual rose fragrances and with none of the spice of the SL Fleur D'Oranger. It is warm, welcoming, light and adorable. Smells lovely layered over the hand cream and shower gel, too! Update: I still love this pretty baby in summer, but it has been brought to my attention that it smells like FRUIT LOOPS. I don't usually like sugary perfumes, but the summery vibe of the orange blossom gets away with it in this frag. Would probably repurchase a small size as a light travel perfume.

To me this one should be classified as 'gourmand'! I was looking for a fresh splash on summer cologne, but this one is definitely not it. It is a long lasting sweet orange blossom delight, unfortunately it's odour reminds me only of those delicious Moroccan sweet pastries, scented with orange flower water. If I would wear this fragrance I would be craving for exotic pastries constantly! Any scent which reminds me of edibles is a gourmand scent in my opinion. Lovely but not for me, my weight is already a problem and wearing this I would be hungry all the time!

What a gorgeous opening. It feels like a fresh floral water with hints of zest orange. Like something you'd want to splash onto your face in hotter weather. Lovely orange blossom and effervescent tones. It definitely feels "cologney" in terms of strength. Airy, watery and bright at first. The dry down goes VERY sweet on me, almost like it's laced with tons of vanilla. Lots of smoothness washes over everything that was once bright and this becomes very linear. Like a sugary orange.... BRILLIANT opening, the dry down? Not so exciting for me.

I didn't know it was marketed as "Cologne of Love" in English-speaking countries :-D This is not a true translation from French "Eau Amaible", but there it goes. It's very pleasant, carefree, happy cologne with orange blossom, not probably the truest thing around, but nice and wearable and I prefer this one to LCDM Fleurs d'oranger as that one really smell like sticky Naples' pastiera (yummy!) and I'm not a fan of foody fragrances. Cologne of Love is more floral and feminine without smelling like a cake.

This is a supremely sweet, juicy, sugary affair. I am tempted to drink this flowery philter in a faceted crystal tumbler. It conjures an image of fair-haired ladies of Thebes lounging about in crisp white robes in an orchard, the air filled with the intoxicating scent of the orange blossoms on the trees and tucked behind their ears. Considering the notoriously short longevity of most citrus fragrances, this lasts an impressively long time, at least five hours. It is, like the label says, loveable.

Even though it is late summer here in the eastern US, this will prevail as the "go to" wake me up scent of spring/summer.... Thanks for the introduction, from a very generous F member! The warm, linear, citrus scent just screams beautiful sunshine and it lasts so long...!! So pleasantly surprised by such a slightly sweet, innocent good morning fragrance... Now this is pancakes w/ syrup, juice and coffee without the obnoxiousness....

Interesting......this actually does kind of resemble Love Don't Be Shy by Kilian! At just a fraction of the cost, I'm SOLD! Of course the sillage may not quite match Kilian, but the Longevity is fairly surprising for a Cologne - even though it keeps fairly close to skin. If you LOVE "Love" by Kilian, I'd advise to get your nose on Love (Eau Aimable) by Couvent Des Minimes and give it a try.

This is possibly the best bang for bucks fragrance you can buy along with their vanilla variant. This is a warm tangerine and works best on me when trapped under clothing. That way it actually has some staying power but sillage is low I would say so a personal scent perfect for after showering in evenings.
