Vetivera

I love vetiver fragrances and this became quickly my favorite (alongside terre d'hermes edt). The accord pyramid doesn't mention a strong marine saltiness feel that bonds almost magically with the vetiver. For me it smells like Harry Potter hunting Horcrux with Dumbledore in the cave by the sea :-) This fragrance is mysterious, wild and.... Very dark (even darker than encre noire)! The bergamot in the opening is the only "light" of the fragrance. Then, as the freshness starts to dissipate, a dark vetiver is coming through. The black pepper makes it a earthy vetiver rather than a smoky one. The more it dries down, the more the salty marine accord appears to envelope the fragrance, giving this unprecedented accents to vetiver. On clothes stays forever, is not a big projector but people close to me can smell it all day without being overwhelmed. You can also go heavy with sprays without being offensive.

Waooow! This fragrance deserves the name "spicebomb" ...Amazing, why? Perfectly blended, no headache from this one, good ingredients. Opens up with strong black pepper note, in the drydown black pepper takes a step back and vetiver takes a step forward, it's like they're dancing together. Jean-Claude Ellena, I know he's getting old but I'm thinking after all these years he probably have some good recipes in the vault that he's sharing with us now and this is one of them.

I agree with Luilind's review 100%. I would add there are some notes of liquorice and mint in the opening, a fleeting moment. I would blind buy each one of Le Couvent fragrances based on QUALITY alone. I might not like or not want to wear them, but QUALITY and perfect blend is there. For me, an alchemical reaction of perfect accuracy, recreating the scene of summer, warm sand, high sky, and a nostalgic-dreamy bobble of the sense of opportunity. That’s how I perceive this- so for me it’s firmly summer and daytime and instantly transmorphing from sample test to wishlist .

This perfume smells like an old, wooden kitchen drawer where you keep spices alongside with dark roast coffee beans. Dark, mysterious and beautiful. This is the genius of J. C. Ellena.

Shibafu describes this fragrance perfectly: like opening an old kitchen drawer full of spices. I’m surprised how the pepper isn’t just a nondescript spicy note - it actually smells like pepper. Then there’s the citrus, woods and vetiver. It is exactly what it claims to be. Not my favourite for men, but definitely made with high quality, natural ingredients. If you like pepper, woods and vetiver it’s worth testing this one. Unique and niche quality.
