Genesis

Miguel Matos is becoming for me an insurance of quality. When a fragrances is designed by him I always LOVE It... But Génesis is one of the BEST ones I have tried from him!! Génesis is an aldehydic bomb! It is powerful, intense and very long lasting. Everybody Will note your presente when you wear It. It reminds me a lot of vintage fragrances like Chanel n° 5 and It is done as before, without asking permission...but in this case It has also a very modern face: this fruity part which makes the perfume very pleasant. It is not AN easy wearing fragrance and It is not for everybody. But if you like aldehydic and animalic Frgrances you Will probably LOVE génesis. Le Frag has only 2 fragrances til this momento but... What 2 fragrances!! Something surprising nowdays... This give Hope to me that It is still posible to make good perfumes in a world where It seems that It is more importante the económic part than the artístic one. I cannot believe it seeing the notes! To me it smells like a very realistic and unique Mandarin orange peel. A bit tangy, a bit bitter, fruity and herbal at the same time. Will not buy the FB, but it is lovely! Performance good, too.

The fruity-animalic coconut-chypre concept of Fado Jasmim on steroids, but it's not jasmine that plays first fiddle here, but a whole barrel full of civet. Almost unwearable. Genesis? Hallelujah!

"You may either love or hate such fragrances. Or rather, love and hate them. As is life itself." A fragrance that truly lives up to its motto. For me, it evoked nothing but hatred, but out of respect for art, I thank the effort behind it. It’s like a blend of clean strawberries and something urinal. But not the kind of urinal note found in vintage perfumes; this one is indescribable... It smells like you've drunk a ton of vitamin C and then peed. I don't think I'll recover from this for a while; definitely not something one should try early in the morning (:

I want this to grow on me. I'm not what you'd call an experienced nose tho I do appreciate some challenging mixtures. For now, an unpleasant grapefruit / urine punch is all I notice.

Hmmm... this is not easy to review-- I own over 100 fragrances including some wonderfully unusual niche and great vintage heavy-hitters and this is... a challenging scent even by those standards... I LOVE IT... but it is the LEAST SAFE BLIND BUY i have ever rated. do NOT buy this without sampling... i did and I'm happy, but i would be very wary to tell anyone else to do this. PLEASE visit the fragrance website to read my VERY LONG REVIEW of this incredible fragrance... just know it's a chypre, though unlike any you've tried before, and it's quite challenging and not mass-appealing... i might discourage you from wearing it to work... or on a first date... or to a job interview. haha... i know that doesn't sound like a positive review but i assure you.. .I'm already saving for a back-up bottle because I never want to run out of it.

Reminded me of Zoologist Sacred Scarab, but on steroids. The volume is amped up to 11, the scent is simplified and, quite frankly, horrible and obnoxious. Harsh vintage soap, some fruit, and much stronger animalic facets. I love Sacred Scarab, but this feels like a cartoon version of it. Edit: I think ELDO Rien is even more obvious inspiration with its animalic soapiness.

Just no. It literally smells like sour sweat. I dont know how anything can smell sour but this smells sour. I do not get any strawberry, any woods, anything! I just smell sweat. I do not recommend.

The plethora of thoughts and impresions on reviews (sweat, Orange peel, strawberries, gutted fish) regarding this fragrance must be the implication that it is indeed a creative fragrance. For me, it's a no, i just couldn't wait to get It off me. I don't think i reacted that bad with any other fragrance untill this one, and i've had my share of the 80's civet and animalic fragrances, which were great btw, many of them at least. Those were perfumes, this is an experiment and nothing more. What i get from this fragrance, is the exact smell as if You just went to the bathroom...but not like in the Alain Delon Iquitos way. That was Nice. This one NOT. I am not saing that there are in the same genra, but You get the point. It just smells bad. I wore it once, and i was hiding from people outside, basically i did Not want them to think that i shit myself. It is strong, It stays days on clothes. There are some plus points to Genesis, the fragrance develops, doesn't stay linear and unidimensional, which is almost unbelieveble in modern fragrances, drydown of It is very similar to Aramis Devin, the gentleman version. So, a complex, weird, maybe intriguing for some people, a big pass for me.

Civet brutalism ushering in a fruity-floral chypre. The civet is too sweaty and halitosis-like for me, takes two hours to settle down until it makes way for the more agreeable aspects of the fragrance. Ultimately, I have to refuse to dance because the power level of Genesis will bring me to my knees but I'd feel bad if I gave it a low rating since this might be the holy grail for those who are fiending for that type of vibe.

For me, it smells like gutted fish with a hint of strawberry in the background – and it’s absolutely not unpleasant. I had a moment of disgust when I first smelled it, but curiosity quickly won over. If someone is brave and likes to smell like death and fruit, this is totally the scent for them.

Clean and soapy strawberry aldehydes with a very animalic civet musk base. Working together this is gorgeous and very vintage. What I imagine Chanel No 5 smelled like back in the day. I feel very sophisticated when I wear this.
