Chypre (2020)

Instantly loved this! It's a delicate classical thing mixed with modern chypre (which weirdly seems to just mean rose and pink pepper now) I love how bright the opening is, with a green, lush, narcissus and gentle creamy jasmine, floral aspect. The only real criticism I have is that the emphasis changes to more of a gentle rose (in fairness I don't get much of the pink pepper) and dries down very politely. I can't help how I feel about something and the overall effect of this perfume is the epitome of class and subtle understatement. Yeah, really like it, fresh a little powdery, smells modern but respectful to the older styles of perfumery. Okay, so I wrote this first part the otherday having worn it once, now wearing it again the drydown is very pink pepper & Rosy. It's jasmin aspect and anything really classical or powdery retreats or dies entirely and you're left with a modern woody pink pepper/rose combo which is fine and pleasant and I'm glad it has the opening it does because it makes for a more interesting twist on this modern rose 'chypre' genre, but ultimately the opening bits I'm interested in are all but gone after an hour or so. Still decent, still balanced, and still worth a sniff though.

A very soft, pleasant and muted Gris Dior with an added light and airy green accord. I like it. 8/10

I have to agree with MaraDraffnon that there is nothing ‘ambiguous’ or ‘disturbingly animalic’ in Chypre by Le Galion. It is a fresh, white floral fragrance; fizzy, dewy, happy and carefree. To me, it smells mostly of lilly of the valley (green, tart, cool), of a fresh rose (citrussy, green), of jasmine and of clean musks to amp things up. The basenotes are very subdued, so do not expect a dramatic, old fashioned chypre. As a matter of fact, don’t expect chypre at all, as this fragrance is quite linear in its development. It will be interesting to try this in warmer weather to see if the base stands out more and if some sort of animality comes to life, which would definitely make for a richer experience. @Gabe palabras: this doesn’t come anywhere close to Scherrer’s green, mossy, wet, aldehydic, floral, slightly skanky, classic chypre from the 80’s! Sillage is moderate (in cold, rainy winter weather) and longevity is quite good (7 hrs and still going)

Don't be fooled by the brand description: it's not a lily by any stretch of the imagination ("L'Âme Perdue" is better in that department), but a transparent, cool, amorphous rose, on a non-descript white floral and musk base. It is "dazzling" in the sense that it shimmers with a hefty dose of pink pepper, but it's nowhere near animalic nor "disturbing" as the brief states. I was personnally disappointed by this one because it's nowhere near a proper chypre in my opinion. I hope other reviewers will soon chime in with their take on Le Galion's Chypre!

Initially a fizzy white floral. Unsweetened jasmine and narcissus. Sweetness comes from something resembling civet and white musk. Definitely a heavier synthetic component constantly oozing from the back. Apparently a headache inducing one. Quite pleasant except for that but it feels too modern for me to fully enjoy its' concept.

I've read, from my notes from the city of lights, that, chypre is an indolic florals, done like the first Scherrer, a look back to the seventies. I hope this lands here in America soon!

To me, It smells like citrusy rose and narcissus(which is cresolic), and pink peper. smells like the light version of Kelly Caleche of Hermes.
