Rose Thé (Tea rose) (Vintage bottle, no batch code) Rose Thé is now Rose Trocadéro. The Constuction change from Tea Rose to Amber Rose. Rose Thé, It is the tea rose genre (the ambrette and rose). Another dying genre. The lemonglass tone at the beginning is slight strong. Not really enjoyable moment. When you wait a bit, damn. it becomes a glass rose. I could confirm that this Tea Rose is one of the very best of genre. Surpass my impression with Ms. Goutal. - Ce Soir Ou Jamais. The musk so clear and spicy sparklingly cover the sheer thin of rose. Smell like, Rose in the air yet a light tint of perfumery. In most enjoyable manner. Air de Rose. As it sits on skin, it reveals a face of rose that I am not often meet. A Study rose, a rose of May. Still airy but strongly remains on a plain of cold wind. Shall I believe it contains a rose absolute. Because, I can sniff that lemon tone. Which, not anyway. Happen in Synthetic Rose. Rose often time, got emotion, romantic and fragile. But while this, is romantic, it's strong. Not so powdery, it's all about airy musk and rose. A woman skin , Damn it's Gorgeous. It's just Gorgeous. (Ps. I have sniff the vial of Rose Trocadéro, the re-release. No, it is not the same.)

Just . . .WOW! I may have finally found my signature rose for summer! Really smells like fresh, just cut roses! And it lasts amazingly long thanks to the musk and honey. And the whole thing is set off by the wonderful scent of cloves. I've been looking for this scent for a long time. I could have saved myself a lot of time if I'd known this was what I was looking for! Perfect, romantic, warm summer fragrance, although you could really wear it in any season. In winter it would wrap you in a sense of summer and still keep you warm.

THIS is the kind of rose that makes me weak in the knees - I LOVE this super natural, deeply ROSY scent!! Totally agree it smells almost like rose essential oil, as it's so natural smelling. I've been on the hunt for a new rose perfume, one where rose takes center stage, and it's going to be a toss up between this and Jorum's Rose Highland....ideally and eventually...BOTH! Also love the whole house and aesthetic of Le Jardin. They are a great small company!!

What a delight!!! This was a photorealistic representation of freshly cut roses. It is bright, light, fresh- not powdery, old womanly or heavy in any way. It feels youthful and perfect for daytime, and it has a green/zingy note, like rose stems/leaves- or tomato leaf. My friend described it as slightly lemony (must be the Geranium). It is not purely floral, at least not in the traditional sense. Absolutely gorgeous, unique and simultaneously simple.

A lovely delicate rose smell, makes me feel hopeful and safe despite the cold dark winter days. When I smell it, it brings me back to my garden filled with roses perfuming the air. As for durability, it stays on me for more than 6 hours.

Very sophisticated, fresh and sweet. I find it delicious as a scent, it reminds me of rose Turkish delight somehow but without being overly sweet in any way.

Warning: I’m a botanist and a bit of a rosarian crack, so I apologize for this rogue review and it’s strange technicalities— it’s how I make sense of the world 🙂 Overall thoughts: well-done quality ingredients vintage (1920s) green damascene rose soliflor. Not harsh and well-rounded. Unisex. Leans feminine on drydown from honey. Masculine from spicy cloves in the middle. Photorealistic blackcurrant and rose bush on top. I got this in place of other ‘simple’ rose soliflors such as A La rose from MFK as Rose Trocaredo is also natural in origin 90% with Bulgarian rose absolute (but much cheaper of a price than MFK!). The rose present would be Rosa x damascena variety of rose. Historically, the “Kazanlik” cultivar is the main rose used in Bulgarian rose production in the famous Rose Valley (Bulgarian: Розова долина, romanized: Rozova dolina). Though, I grow this variety, and I don’t believe it’s actually Bulgarian roses used but any damascene rose absolute. It’s definitely a damascene rose. NOT a tea rose (that would be Tea Rose from Perfumers Workshop,1972— though Tea roses aren’t used in perfume production so this is the closest reconstruction/accord I’ve seen to the beloved garden tea roses). Rose Trocaredo in contrast might in the public’s [and perfumer’s] imagination be a red rose bouquet but to my experience it’s very much deep pink with bare canes (the bushes at the bottom usually are bare wood in these old world roses), with a lot of green leaves up top. This is definitely a photorealistic green rose. It smells like my rose bush. It starts off spicy and the tendencies for roses to become masculine smelling. But gender is a construct, as Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (founded: 1974) would attest to. I don’t think of a woman during this scent. It’s unisex completely. I grow scented geraniums [botanically correct is Pelargonium graveolens] as well and can attest to the geraniol in the mix which furthers the unisex aspect of the rose. Though it never becomes as lemony as ‘Attar of Roses’ pelargonium (cultivar used for perfumery) can get. It definitely has black current in the background making the rose juicier in the beginning but not sweet. The honey is definitely there in the day down several hours later. The white musk is the synthetic aspect of the perfume and definitely present throughout. But it’s pleasing to the nose even though it’s synthetic. It isn’t harsh in any such way, but, coupled with the honey, it makes the perfumes smell slightly feminine in the dry down. The dry down occurs around 6 hours later and is very close to the skin. I’m used to using Ruh-Al-Gulab [smell-of-rose] Attar [perfume oil] from M.L. Ramnarain from Kannauj, India as my rose soliflor fix. I’m not used to the olfactory traditions of the West and so I’m learning slowly to appreciate vintage French perfumery from Grasse (the Kannauj of Europe). To me, it’s not dated. It is far superior to the modern offerings of Dior Rose n Roses, Red Roses Jo Malone, and Roses de Chloe. I’ve recently tried Coco EDP Chanel (1984) but even that doesn’t enlighten me the way this even older formula based off the 20s and 30s rose perfumes. I’m starting to move away from the roses I used as a teenager and undergraduate and appreciating these vintage offerings as the masterpieces they are. They don’t snag the customer with only a few Oohs and Aahs in the first few minutes at Sephora. I wanted to try more vintage perfumes as I’m falling deeper in love with French perfumery. Yuri Gutsatz, the founder of the house and maker of this perfume based it off of the Parisian women wearing rose perfumes in his childhood circa 1920s. I can see the vintage influence in this perfume. But I also agree with other perfumes who comment that it falls “flat” compared to other natural niche offerings. But regardless, the quality is there. From the top notes, across the middle and even the drydown (which I really love!). It’s how Luca Turin describes old vintage perfumes smelt the best in the the middle to dry down portion. Mr. Gutsatz definitely seems to have based this vintage best seller off of even older vintage best sellers. This is beautiful. Even a little emotional as I have fond memories of rose bushes in nurseries with my mother as a child. I’m 24 but this is something I’d wear to a lecture or to rather, conduct a lecture and feel like a beautiful intelligent young woman in. Or to wear generously as I tend my rose bushes in spring and summer in a pretty dress and garden apron, just to enhance the occasion. Note to self: A more interesting unisex/masculine-leaning damascene rose soliflor in alcohol would be Rose de Taif by Perris Monte Carlo. But my personal favourite is Taif Rose by Abdul Samad Al Qurashi because it uses Oud as the fixative in the base rather than white musk and the roses are guaranteed to be from a high quality region in both perfumes. Taif rose may be my favourite damascene rose clearly haha.

Rose Trocadéro tells the story of the garden in the Trocadéro Palace. It was built on the banks of the river Seine, in front of the Eiffel Tower and was the predecessor of the Chaillot Palace. The fragrance of Rose Trocadéro, which is a new vision of Rose Thé (1989), symbolizes a woman carrying a beautiful bouquet of roses, while she walks towards the Seine, with firm steps, under the sun from an afternoon, back in 1935. In the current composition, Rose Trocadéro has notes of Bulgarian rose absolute, blackcurrant, clove, lavender and musk. But nothing can overcome the smell of roses that this fragrance exudes. However, to not say that the ingredients were used in vain, I can say that there is the presence, even though subtle, of blackcurrant (with its fruity nuances) and musk, very luminous. And although the concept of niche puts aside the idea of separation by genders (male and female), Rose Trocadéro is a perfume made for women, in my humble opinion. The scent of red roses is depicted with perfection and lightness, in a delicate and joyful way. It is not an exotic or sensual perfume of roses, but floral and diurnal. Rose Trocadéro behaves very linearly, at least on my skin. And as it has Eau de Parfum concentration, exudes very well all the time, in addition to last for more than seven hours. It's one of those cases where the result goes together with the concept, admirably, leading you to imagine the scene of a woman walking under the sun towards the river Seine.

I finally got around to trying the sample I was sent along with my Cuir de Russie bottle, and Rose Trocadero is disappointing. Unlike the Cuir de Russie and the Bois Tabac Virginia or whatever it's called, there is nothing unique or unusual about Rose Trocadero. It's just another frothy rose scent, like literally hundreds of others. I thought I might actually smell cloves in the heart notes, but my nose found nothing of them there. It's all rose for me, and not too much different from the old Yardley Red Rose from the 1950's that cost maybe $1.59 a bottle, which is perhaps today's equivalent of $19.99 for 4 ounces. I don't know what I was expecting but they want you to expect something not ordinary or they wouldn't bother to put the Trocadero name on it. And not that I was expecting something worn by the Trocaderos de Monte Carlo either, the fabulous all male ballet company, and you should definitely look them up if you're not familiar with them. Their performances are spectacular and have been since the 1970's. But they're not wearing this stuff. This must be Le Jardin Retrouve's "safe" perfume.

A lovely, fresh and natural "rose bouquet" with a touch of green and black currant. --> Very romantic and feminine, perfect for spring and summer. In fact, you are in a garden, in Paris. Linear, the sillage and longevity are moderate with my skin. If you like "A La Rose" of the Maison Francis Kurkdjian or "A Capella" of Roos & Roos, you need to try this fragrance, you will love it. 7/10, I will wear it during spring --> In this brand, for summer, I prefer Verveine d'été. Verveine d'été (verbena & bergamot) > Citron Boboli (lemon & clove) > Eau des délices (citrous cologne) --> For spring: Rose Trocadero (a lovely rose fragrance, very fresh) --> For fall: Tubéreuse Trianon (strong tuberose & ylang ylang)

This is a feminine leaning, clean smelling rose fragrance. To me, the roses smell pink, they’re on a bushel, it’s early in the morning and tgere are dew drops on them, and they’ve just been cut to make a bouquet. This isn’t harsh whatsoever, the composition is very smooth and fluid. I do get that bit of spice, however it isn’t harsh. The musk is clean, not animalic. I have to say that it does remind me a bit of A La Rose by MFK but it is by no means a dupe. It’s a classic rose scent, not overly vintage or modern, it can withstand the test of time. As far as projection, it’s sits to close to my skin and lasted about 6 hours before I could no longer smell it.

I love this scent conceptually, as it is a very true rose scent to me. Not too green, not too soapy, pure, nice rose. My ideal kind of rose scent. However, the ways it falls flat is I just find it does not last. Having it go longer than two hours is hard, and I find I have to spray it on my clothes to make it last at all. If you hate rose, definitely don't bother, and if you want something with more complexity, this will also fall flat for you as the main note is rose, and all other scents in it are just to lift up or reinforce the rose note.

Oddly, this smells like Lancome's "Over the Top" for me. I think tomato leaf smells like geranium, and the fruity notes it lists This is a absolutely beautiful rose scent with focus on grassy green rose, but little specs of fruit and spices coming in every once in a while to give it some life. I'm glad I only got 15ml of it, but I'm also happy to have it!

Absolutely gorgeous rose with clove and blackcurrant adding a voluptuous depth. I love this as it makes me feel very womanly!

The most beautiful classic tea rose. Nothing noir about it.

I want to love this so badly! And still I may. But I used half my sample of this in a single night because man, this does not stick to you. Vanishingly light on my skin, close and ethereal - I'm not sure why either; Retrouvé's jasmine and tuberose both last on me for hours and hours and hours. But this one is a very light touch, even with a heavy spray - and honestly, I don't think I would mind that if the scent lined up correctly. Even as faint as it is, it still does dance on the air a bit, it doesn't Emanate but it does linger very well, and I kind of enjoy that very light trail. There is a glorious pink rose here, a crimped and ruffled white rose with blushes of hot pink, that reminds me of an old rose night cream I once adored before they reformulated it into oblivion - a true rose which has been so difficult to find in perfume. The rose here is superlative; delicate and tender and kissed, all floral without much green. Or at least I wish it was without. I love green, but the green is the issue here. I'm not sure if its the currant notes or the citronellol ingredient listing - and this may be an issue with my own nose, anything cassis tends to repel me at first and then a few wears in I end up adoring it - but there's something so bugspray about this, citronella candle, summer camp mosquito repellent. I don't even necessarily dislike that! A genuinely nostalgic smell even if not an inherently charming one, I could easily see that kind of note fitting into something beautifully. But here it just drowns out the exceptional rose present, the rose struggles to be seen above the waves of citronellol, and I myself struggle to get anything else out of it. A perfect storm of it just not working on me! I still want to sit with it longer, again this is one I want to adore, and I'll keep trying to break through that barrier. But as it is, it's the weakest I've tried from the house, but also perhaps the one with the most potential.

this starts as a very bitter and green geranium and rose. after about 10 minutes, i get a lot of musk and a hint of clove, which softens the bitterness of the geranium a great deal. musk takes over and it turns into primarily a musky rose, though i can still sense a slight sense of herbal bitterness from the geranium. deep into the drydown it turns into mostly blackberry with a bit of honey and musk.

The greenness here (for me, of course) is so prevalent; it's similar to that kinda skunky tone that a sharp bamboo note always has on me. There is some floral there, too, I suppose rose, and it's not really faint, but I fixate on this particular green scent when it's on me, as it's distracting and a bit stinky:P again, this is on me- I'm more than willing to assume that my experience with this particular perfume is a fluke, as my impressions of the rest of LJR's perfumes range from very like to absolutely adore, but not so much this one:P

From the site original notes are: Bulgarian Rose Absolute , Blackcurrant/Cassis, Clove, Musk. A Dark Rose. Beguin and Blooms in the sun along with the freesia and raspberry, so I feel, but something bewitched arrives, along with black clouds which darken the rediscovered garden. Not so unic, synthetic as hell, but it is a good scent, bit unsettling. An incense end. A Morticia Addams Rose.

Whoa, this is in-your-face rose, like essential oil of rose or potpourri made entirely of roses with some non-descript spices to just jazz the rose up. My partner likes it not only because he likes strong perfumes but also because it reminds him of his aunt’s house that smelled like rose fragrance—kinda nostalgia for him. I prefer more luminous perfumes but glad I got to sample it.
