Cedrat 37 Berlin

I'm relatively new to fragrance world. Bought this one as my first fragrance that I actually paid for and yes it was way above my expected price range (think I spent about 330-ish USD for 50 ml). I've tried Santal 33 / Citron 28 (Seoul City) and other fragrances at Le Labo and also couple of other fragrances in Dyptique and Loccitane (pardon my spelling) and ended up buying Cedrat 37 for two main reasons: 1) top note was pretty amazing to me, more so than other citrus-based fragrances I've tried although the test samples weren't that many 2) I got tricked into the city fragrance marketing strategy after I heard I won't be able to purchase this anywhere but in Berlin after the month of September until the same period next year. Then I learned that fragrances also have middle note and base note, and I actually didn't love the base note that much because I really loved the top note of the Cedrat 37 and the base note was somewhat sweeter than I had originally expected / informed (that this has a strong ginger-ish scent); so I actually began doing more research on fragrances and tried and bought couple more well-known, popular men fragrances such as Dior Homme Intense / Sauvage / YSL / and Byledo. I thought these fragrances might be better than Cedrat 37 because this one has such a poor review and this is the very first fragrance that I've actually tried on on almost daily basis. My natural impression was that there must be better fragrances than this because other fragrances has much higher review rate on this website. Guess what. After spending few more hundred bucks on more popular fragrances, I've concluded that that Cedrat 37 was the best of my purchase, realizing that choosing the right fragrance really depends on individual's own taste and preference. Had I known that other fragrances weren't as impressive as Cedrat 37, I could have saved more money and probably just bought 100 ml instead of 50 ml because my petty mind sorta wanted to save that 100 bucks and I didn't expect I'd use this fragrance as this often. Bottom Line: this is my personal favorite so far and I think I am going to get Santal 33 or Byledo Oud Immortel the next just because they have fundementally different scents than Cedrat 37 and both have pleased me

I have worn my new sample of Cedrat 37 several times this week and it has quickly become one of my favorite City Exclusives. It's a utilitarian citrus scent but there's something about it that's super sexy to me. I don't know enough about cedrat/citron to say whether it's hidden behind other citrus notes in typical Le Labo fashion, but I instantly get a tart, yet rounded, lemony citrus at the opening--similar to the warm lemon in AdP Colonia Intensa. The ginger takes over for a bit before the woody base settles, but the citrus ginger combo hangs in the background through the life of the fragrance. The ginger is a lead player but doesn't overpower the way the pepper does in Poivre 23. The overall balance reminds me of punch with lemonade and ginger ale, or a Pimm's Cup. This is definitely a citrus but it's not a freshie per se--the woods, musks, and some slight ambery tones are in charge in the drydown lending some depth and making Cedrat 37 useful for situations other than casual daytime wear. And there are no discernible floral or orange blossom notes in this, which IMO is a welcome departure from Le Labo's standard citrus approach. I've been getting good performance with this. It's not a projection beast by any means, and it settles closer to the skin pretty quickly. It, however, does radiate a couple of feet around me for many (7+) hours. Last note--I first tested this on paper and did not get much ginger. On paper it sort of just smelled like Dior Homme Cologne. I found that it opens up on my skin much more, so I highly recommend sampling this on skin if interested in purchasing.

This wasn’t love at first sight. I ordered a sample of this last September, and I have found myself gravitating towards this on certain occations. The first impression when the ginger came through was that it felt quite spicy and almost headache inducing. It wasn’t the basic citrus scent that I had gotten used to. However, I gave it a few goes and I noticed that I almost craved it on some of the days in the autumn when getting tired during or after the workday. I have now grown to love this fragrance and it gives the energyboost for your day. I wouldn’t say that it is a everyday wear but rather suitable for the days when you need the extra kick for your day. I have tested it out in warmer weather and also in the cooler ones. During summer time, the refresing citrus really comes through. But the cool brightness is balanced with warm depth from the ginger, making it surprisingly versatile across seasons. I tend to think that this is a scent for a person who has certain kind of confidence and drive. I am now thinking whether I should order a bigger bottle of this next September or if it is not worth the money as there are other citrus scents out there with far better prize tag.

It is a perfume you need to wear a few times. I bought the sample on release day in Toronto. I wore it, didn't like it. Very very green or so it seemed. I went back to it, 2-3 times. I really like it. I wouldn't get a big boy of this, it has some similarities to Gaiac 10, but less airy/smokey more towards clean/aftershave. It also shares some dna with Bergamote 22 but no florals. If you are a female and you thought Gaiac 10 was too masculine, this is more unisex (if we are using that as a benchmark). It's definitely unisex - masculine leaning to me. The smell is very very persistant. Received a compliment on this after 11 hours. Was told "it's fresh like your other perfumes, but you smell really clean. you smell good!" the ginger isn't zingy, it leans "green" the citron isn't juicy, it leans more towards "peeling and immediately smelling" or "biting into an unpeeled citrus" In fact, I would say there was little ginger in my sample. The next release from Le Labo will be Thé Matcha 26

This smells like a cocktail! A moscow mule, fresh and sweet! A nicely blended citrus with something herbal, mint? But a lot of ginger, almost bubbly and tingely. It is very refreshing, and never too soapy, nor musky, nor screechy at all! The drydown is great as well, its still a clean spicy ginger but a subtle woodyness appears, it could remind of MEMO – Winter Palace at times. But Cedrat 37 is perfectly unisex and is in my opinion probably more suitable for spring and summer wear than what Winter Palace is. Unfortunately it fades faster than I want to, which Le Labo tends to do at my skin, but after six hours I can still pick it up if I try to, but that is just barely. Nevertheless, the freshness and blend of this perfume is absoultely worth trying out, but is way too expensive for a blind buy. But maybe I’ll get a small bottle whenever it is available again, because this juice is addictive!

I finally went into my first Le Labo store in Miami as I already had encountered Bergamote 22 and was obsessed with it. Little did I know that my nose - not knowingly - precisely followed Daphné Bugey creations for Le Labo. Cedar 37, an exclusive sent for Berlin, was suggested to me by Joe who worked there. What can I say. Bergamote 22 is a fresh day but this, THIS is like the freshness in form of a scent without entering the worlds of cleaning products or strange stuff. It is such a beautiful, fresh and attractive scent with many dimensions. To combine any citrusiiiii scent with the grounded woody scent is just brilliant. Citron by itself would be quick, sharp, fresh experience without any roots. The way Bugey wrapped it in is just genius. I am in love, obsessed with it. WOW.

So as an update to my review I wore my sample for 1.5 w and I really enjoyed it. I noticed that it has a similar effect akin to Gaiac 10 which fills the room you sprayed it in. The longevity of fragrances is a big deciding factor for me so seeing the scent perform every day made me get a 500ml with a friend. I am very happy with my purchase. As a bit of trivia, I also discovered that this perfume is one of few Le Labos without any water in the formula. I don't agree with the comparisons to Dior Cologne Royale and The Cachmere, but it's a similarly styled perfume. It has nothing to do with them in terms of smell. Like said by others on other forums, this is a perfume which can be interpreted as a marriage of Gaiac 10 & Bergamote 22.

Took me a minute to realize how great this scent is! Probably because of the price point for a citrus but ultimately this one is fun and projects really well. Almost thought it smelled like California Dream for a sec so I was turn off during the sample period in August. Ultimately, this one is best compounded in stores vs. pre-made* - I didn't love my pre-made sample but I am almost sad I didn't get a 100ml instead (I got the 50ml before the store closed on September 30th haha) * I said best - this is obviously the same fragrance but I love me a good Another 13/The Matcha 26 pre-made vs mixed at the store but this one has a lil something extra when made fresh for you! This is very subjective

Purchased s sample set of the city exclusive last year. Cedrat 37 did not surprise me probably because of the cool weather. Tried it today (almost 95 degree) and realized how nice Cedrat 37 is. It opens with a sweet, fruity, warm but fresh note. The dry down is relatively linear but musky scent is a nice touch. In general, Cedrat 37 is underrated; you can wear it any time of the year wherever. But hot weather makes it more distinguishing. Is it worthy? NO, absolutely no. The price is ridiculously high. Also, the scent is not something irreplaceable. Cedrat 37 is very closed to Dior Homme Sport and Cologne to my nose when it dries down. I love the scent of Cedrat 37 but I won't buy it.

coming back to write another review about this amazingly underrated fragrance. every single person who matters to me in my life, when they smell me, they all notice different scents. and with THIS one, its literally unanimously "the best smell I've ever smelled on someone, I can't stop stop thinking about your scent, oh my god that is the perfect smell," etc. just saying, super underrated. I never get tired of it, and I wish it was cheaper so I could spray it every day and every night. instead, I use Cologne Indelible for most days - it's amazing after you let it sit for 30-60 min, trust me - and I use cedrat on more special occasions.

Picked this up last September while traveling, I was very fortunate to be able to get this in a duty free store as the city exclusives were made global during that month. I was initially meaning to pick up Bergamote 22 but ended up falling in love with this at the counter. I am a massive fan of citrus/ginger frags and this one does not disappoint, it's very quickly become one of my most adored scents of all time. I find myself reaching for this quite often and have started to get a bit worried about finishing the bottle, I will definitely pick up another full sized bottle when they're made available globally again later this year.

despite its egregious pricing, this has occupied a top 5 spot in my fragrance wardrobe since obtaining a bottle nearly 4 years ago. instant mood booster. the wood and musks in the drydown offer more depth and “padding” to round everything out. think zingy candied citrus-ginger infused tea or freshly spiced sparkling lemonade. that’s the opening. super refreshing and perfect as a summer topper. nevertheless everything about this wearing experience is soft and gauzy. not sure how apt it is in reflecting the city its exclusive to but i adore this scent profile and preemptively mourn the day my bottle runs empty.

This is my favorite city exclusive, and perhaps my favorite of the le labo line. I get good sillage and longevity out of this, although citrus seems to wear well on me and this had better sillage on me than some other city specials that people tend to prefer. It opens with a happy citrus scent and as I wear it I get more ginger and musk, without losing the citrus. It's very easy to wear and puts me in a good mood. I feel that many of the reviews for this are reviewing for the price tag and not the scent. I'm sure there are similar cheaper perfumes, but to me this is just slightly better than the alternatives.

I just bought this because they allow the purchase of city exclusives in their boutiques regardless of where they are (and I’ll probably never get a chance to go to Germany). It’s worth the price even though it’s really expensive, mainly because of the gingery citron opening and the fact it lasts a LONG time on me. That tends to be an issue, so because of that, I love it and don’t regret actually paying full price. I’m looking forward to investigating this house further!!!

This fragrance has lower reviews because of price for a citrus. If you ignore that, this is honestly a top 3 of the city exclusives, probably even between 1 and 2 for me. It’s probably my favorite citrus I’ve ever smelled, the delicate mix with citrus, wood, and ever so slight white floral/musks is really masterful. I don’t usually like citrus scents because they smell cheap, cause cleaning chemicals and most scented cheap items are Citrusy. But this totally elevates.

This is citrus divinity. Le Labo definitely has their signature on this as the musks and woody notes support the spicy and fresh citron so well. This is exactly what I want from my citrus freshie. This reminds me a bit of Nishane's Wulong Cha, except there's more musk in Le Labo's offering. This would be a staple citrus in my book. I can't speak to longevity but the scent alone is so refreshing! I will look to add this to my collection as some point!

Oh my God! I think this can easily become my favorite city exclusives from Le Labo! The only downside for me is the price haha. But the scent! So gorgeous, even when it's on its dry down, it still smells fresh and uplifting! The longevity is good as well for a freshie. I really really love this scent. Everything is well-rounded and well-blended. Please sample this and you'll love them enough to buy the full bottle despite its price point!

Love, love, love! It's perfect for the heat and humidity of summer. The citron note isn't the sharp and in your face citrus of lime, but moreso a fresh clean scent. The ginger gives it a hint of spiciness in the drydown. I wore it all weekend here in South Florida, where it was particularly hot and humid, and kept having people come up to me asking what I was wearing. The only drawback is the exorbitant price.

I love this so much, don’t understand why more people aren’t talking about this , it’s what I wanted cedar chic to be. To me it’s totally unisex but as a woman who doesn’t particularly like unisex scents I feel it must adjust to the persons skin chemistry cos to me this is a gorgeous confident sexy woman scent. Citrus to start with that mellows into a gorgeous creamy musk

I'm so annoyed at how good this is and how unlike other lemon ginger scents it is. It's perfect. But at 375 something odd USD for a 50ml bottle, I doubt I'll ever own a full bottle. I settle for some third party decants. I've tried the Dua dupe Scent of Berlin, and while it's pleasant and close, it's just missing that certain something this fragrance has.

I can't decide what is better... the sweet, candied yet spicy citrus lemonade tea ginger opening... or the amazing sweet musky (slightly floral??) long lasting dry down... I don't usually care for Le Labo (even though Gaiac 10 is one of my favorite scents of all time) but my second favorite Le Labo after it. but oof.. the city exclusive pricing

I one hundred percent agree with the person below. Couldn't have said it any better. This is my favorite citrus fragrance from this house. By far. It's almost sensual. Like a hot summer evening. It is very expensive but I have to have it in my collection. I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet.

There is a purity in this brand. This fragrance is a master class in creating a moment in time. this is sweet Ginger lemon tea in the middle of the afternoon. When first sprayed it is very similar to squeezing a fresh lemon into your tea. This fragrance is incomparable in my opinion.

Reminds me a lot of imagination by LV, like a lot a lot. This is a great fragrance though. The cedar and musk are what separates this from imagination, but i guess the clean fresh citrusy gingers are what make them similar. I like this one much more however

Underrated honestly. I like it more than bergamote 22 as maybe my favorite citrus, and I really don’t like citrus fragrances much because they’re usually so generic. It’s the wood and ginger giving this a really subtly dark tone that I personally love.

After a year it’s snuck into the top 5 for me. Just try it on your skin and watch it evolve. It gets so sexy and has elements I really don’t know how to describe when it blends with your skin. A test strip doesn’t do this justice. Trust :)

Love this one. Probably my most go to fragrance from Le Labo. I get complements daily while wearing this - to the point my wife just rolls her eyes now lol.

A refreshing go-to scent, I love how it wears on my skin. The longevity is closer to three hours than six, though.

One of the best citrus/ginger fragrances. Great summer scent. Shame it’s so rare and hard to get a hold of.

Longest-lasting citrus fragrance ever

I will admit, Cedrat 37 was better then I expected. Citron tends to be a dry, sharp lemon-esque note when it appears in perfume, so I expected a simple lemon cologne - not the most enticing brief for me! Instead, it is a surprisingly warm, well-rounded scent with good longevity. I haven't enjoyed a citron-led scent as much as this as far as I can remember. While it is still pretty light and linear, it adheres to the Le Labo formula, i.e. a simple but good quality (if expensive) scent, focused on a dominant note. C37 is citrus-led, bright and fresh from initial spray. It is distinctively lemon-like, but more dry and crisp. I expected it to fade quickly, in the manner of a traditional citrus cologne but instead, it develops into a creamy, slightly sweet, well-rounded citrus scent. It is still light and fresh, but is surprisingly warm and has body. The ginger is subtle, but is a clever addition here - adding warm, slightly sweet spice. Ginger is an underrated note in perfumery in my opinion, and I enjoy a creative use of it in perfume. The amber base is slightly balsamic, sweet and musky - much nicer than the lingering ambroxan note that features in the base of other Le Labos. It remains in the background, serving to enhance the citron-ginger accord. It seems to be the amber accord that gives the creamy, full-bodied feeling to this scent, tying it all together beautifully. Although vanilla isn't a listed note, it is reminiscent of the "dessert accord" of citrus-vanilla - a scent profile I am partial to (e.g. Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune or Profumum Roma Dulcis in Fundo). Here, it is a tendency rather than a full-blown gourmand, and the lightness is beautiful. It fades to a sweet, slightly musky skin scent, still lemony until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A citron-dominant scent throughout, this is a lovely take on a citrus cologne that is fairly simple but kept me guessing. A subtle, good-quality spring/summer everyday scent, there is more to C37 than I expected. Perfectly unisex and no-fuss, it is in keeping with the city of its inspiration. Expensive, possibly overpriced for citrus, but ultimately C37 is a decent scent that I really quite enjoyed. 4/5.

Last September I debated between this and Mousse de Chen which I ultimately purchased, but that’s another story. I kept thinking about Cedrat 37 as possibly the one that got away. It’s August now so you can get samples again leading up to September. Been wearing it all day, here are my thoughts. Citron is a bit rounder and less tart than lemon, it’s the ginger that gives it a sparkling presence. I think that’s where the Nio comparison comes from. But Nio is brighter, more green, far more citrusy, and shouts summer much louder. For my money that opening is as good as a summer citrus gets. This is almost a citrus for the early fall before the cold arrives. Citron fades after the initial stage while the ginger loiters around into the mid, but this one is really all about the dry down which is woody, musky, but to my nose lacks the shimmering presence ambergris can provide. As for the other 37-5 = 32 notes everyone’s guess is as good as mine. Tea maybe. I don’t smell anything overtly floral. My initial impression is this is pretty straightforward and simple. It’s just a small 1.5 ml sample, but is legit from Le Labo and for what little it’s worth I did have to reapply multiple times, so as best I can tell without a bottle that’s been on the shelf for 6 months, I’d say it’s just average longevity. Did others love it, no. I was told I smelled like grocery store baked goods (what??) and that it smelled unnatural. This coming from the same person who on two occasions has complimented Voyage d’Hermes EDT without know what I had on. Do those two smell the same? Sort of minus the cardamom. It’s in that ballpark. Is it worth the price, if you have the money and enjoy it sure. But it’s just a mid-range ‘like’ for me. I kind of wish that rating category was removed. Hope this helps as you’re going to be forced into a reasonably quick decision unless you’re in Berlin thanks to the marketing strategy.

OK this was an immediate love for me (until I've reached the dry down like 4 hours later). The opening gave me strong Lemon Pez vibes-- like a sweet, chalky lemony scent-- in the best way. As I made my rounds smelling the blotters of each of the city exclusives I had tested, this one consistently rose to the top. A lovely candied citrus veiled in a cozy fizz from the musk and ambergris. Now that I'm in the dry-down, this scent is unfortunately reminding me of Champs de Provences by Eight & Bob. I hated every Eight & Bob frag I tried. Whatever is in the base DNA of all the frags is incredibly nauseating to me and as soon I smelled the similarity, I couldn't unsmell it. So it's hard to say whether I don't like this drydown or the association is too strong. Going to give this a try on the skin...

A very musky, gingery citron scent. Nothing more nothing less. Its nice but i wish it was more complex, giving us a twist and turn. Just stick to Bergamote 22 in all honesty... ...edit 31/12/2024: This grew on me in just about a day. Its a glorious classy citrus scent, with ginger and ambregris in the background. Its fizzy and very spacious. I got reminded of 2013 Dior Homme Cologne, but this one does its own thing if you pay close attention to it. Imagine putting a pinch of salt in a citron drink, in the middle of summer, on a hot sunny day that is. Sometimes i guess you need to give some stuff more time.

Reminds me of walking down the soap aisle in a store like whole foods. There's a mingling of delicate, milky soaps and distant incense. Very woody, fresh, and clean. The ginger isn't noticeable past the initial dry down for me. The citrus is very faint & mostly overpowered by the crisp soapiness. Definitely a nice gender neutral scent. It's really lovely and subtle overall. However, the projection is shameful. Can't get past the extremely high price point for the performance.

The first minute smells very similar to Ex Nihilo’s Cologne 352. First sniff smells of citrus and typical cologne. Very quickly it morphs into almost a musky scent on my skin. I don’t dislike it, but I can’t say I like it either. It smells like the envelope thingie that holds an assortment of incense. It’s not smoky, but reminds me of incense. Pretty much what a hippy store smells like, minus the smoky note.

this is the only ginger frag that i have liked. the citrus (i've never smelled citron, but this smells like a combo of 70% lemon and 30% lime) is zesty, but also down to earth and woody/foresty. opens with a lime woodiness, but becomes a photorealistic ginger lemon tea. so well balanced, soothing, and natural. unisex, masc leaning, but it's not any less feminine if that makes sense. however it's $500......

I smelled this for the first time when I visited Berlin last year. I was immediately a big fan. The main note of the fragrance is actually Lemon, not citron. It smells like a fresh ginger lemonade. Its very lively and zesty. Its pretty long lasting for a citrus but I honestly don't think it's worth 500 dollars. I much prefer Issey Miyake pour homme.

Sweet ginger lemonade syrup on top of the usual Le Labo DNA. The musk really plays nicely with the warm spiciness of the ginger, it's very cozy. I was surprised this was pegged as masculine-leaning here as it read distinctly feminine to me, one of their sweetest and most feminine scents! Maybe the woodsiness is showing up stronger for others?

Sweet, fresh, citrusy and soapy. The drydown is woody and soapy. No chemical fixative smell at all witch is what I like most about the le labo fragrances. I like it but not enough to buy it. It is not exciting enough for the steep price. But it is a crowd pleaser I would think. A likeable summer scent.

Complete powerhouse. Ginger tea lemonade heaven. Completely takes over the room. Projection and performance beast. Only downside is the price tag. $305 for a 50ml is crazy, and even with that considered I still ended purchasing it. Overall I’m very happy to add it to my collection.

Opens with a strong citron note tied with the ginger note. The musk adds a little bit of a soapy essence to this. Smells very fresh and clean. Great nice weather scent.

The citron opening is sparking and the ginger note is heart-warming. Perfect for early fall

I love DS&Durga's Coriander and bought a bottle. (on eBay for $80) On a website, "Michael Edwards' Fragrance Wheel", they recommended Cedrat 37 as a one to try if you like Coriander. I ordered a sample from Le Labo. After wearing Cedrat 37 a few times, I would say it comes nowhere near my love for the subtle glory of Coriander. It has, instead, a kind of aggressive, pungent, lemony citrus that goes on SHARP and SOUR! It dries down, becomes mellow, leaving behind a kind of fruity, sweet, gingery scent, the bite coming from the ginger. Let me mention the price. 3.4 OZ/ 100ML is $485. $615 Canadian Dollars. 9,668 Mexican Pesos. 16072.90 Thai Baht. There are shower gels on the shelves of Target for $7 that smell better than Cedrat 37. Marshalls has Portuguese lemon shower gels for under $10 that smell better and more expensive than Cedrat 37. Cedrat 37's price is ridiculous. This is just not that great. It is not a fragrance to die for. It is a better-than-average citrus juice with an above average sillage. I would not buy it. I may not even finish my sample.

This starts of promising. Brighter on the opening than I expected from a fragrance based on the city of Berlin. More like Berlin on a sunny spring day 🌞 Bright citrus with some florals in the background. Then some really nice woods and musky ambergris. The problem I have is the ginger. I like ginger as much as the next guy and it's really well done here. It smells very realistic. However, this feels like the base is comprised entirely of ginger on my skin. And it lasts and lasts. Maybe your skin chemistry will be different but that's my experience. Still a good scent during the opening and mid, but I smell like I took a bath in ginger 😐

I tried this at the Los Angeles store near West Hollywood last month. I was in search of the perfect citrus -- unfortunately this is nothing but sweet and sour green Skittle to me. Candied Citrus/Ginger with no long lasting bite. Would pick Bergamote over this from Le Labo if looking specifically for citrus within this brand. Even still, I'd search elsewhere. I love Le Labo so much as they've created some legendary scents, but due to that that they often tend to disappoint more easily. It may have to do with the prestige but also the price point which makes you wonder if their fragrances are some sick joke.

Fresh clean laundry or dish soap at first, which I mean as a compliment. It’s lemon-forward. The way it fades is really where it shines. It becomes more complex, like a soft woodsy incense. Citrus gives me a headache so I couldn’t wear it, but it was nice and if that doesn’t happen to you, it’s an interesting clean scent.

She’s stunnning. Smells like morning day in a lemon field. Intimate wear tho. Reminds me of symphony by Louis Vuitton. Gone in seconds 😔 me and le labo is a no. 3 fragrances and I gave up on the house Le labo gets away w murderrrr
