Eucalyptus 20

Opens with a taser of photo-realistic eucalyptus that feels like being enveloped in a “eucalyptean” crash helmet. Sharp, bright and concentrated; as though eucalyptus were a fruit and this were the rind. Which is great - if (like me), you like eucalyptus. The immediate aftermath of the opening is a swift (30 seconds?), evaporation of the excitory notes as the fragrance wanders through the open door of a pony club tack room. Well worn saddles and bridles; accords that add up to dark, dark leather. There’s a hint of chocolate too, although, I should add that absolutely none of these notes are present in the list of accords. This tweener phase lasted around five minutes but I still couldn’t stop sniffing the back of my hand. I mean, where’s the eucalyptus? But this is where the rabbit is pulled from the hat. Those chocolate and leather notes combine into a walk through the shade of a stand of eucalyptus in a park. The camphor, resin, the (now, hints of), green leaves, the scent of bark crunching under your boots and the soil it sits in. The last act (now, next morning), is an echo of the opening but calmed the hell down into a gentle eucalyptus incense; at the same time sweet and astringent. I would put this in the same experiential category as Patchouli 24 and Vetiver 46. You have to want to smell very specifically of this frangrance as there’ll be no mistaking it for anything else all day. Personally, I love it.

I first fell for Le Labo through their body care line Hinoki, was the scent that had me returning to their shops like a moth to smoke-scented flame. When Eucalyptus 20 launched, it was love at first sniff. It’s got the same soul as Hinoki Meditation by d’Annam: stepping into a centuries-old Japanese temple, its dark wood steeped in incense and silence, surrounded by an ancient forest humming with time. And somehow, weirdly, it also smells like the colonial churches in Antigua Guatemala, where the air is heavy with sacred smoke: corozo, copal blanco, myrrh, alejandrina. I’m not religious, but this scent feels ceremonial, almost reverent—deeply meditative, like a quiet moment stretched out in scent. Le Labo somehow manages to make all this weight feel fresh—like morning air through a half-open shōji screen. It’s totally genderless, not something I’d call mass-appeal, but it’s a visceral, transportive experience. The projection is bold, the longevity impressive, and the emotions? Unmistakably personal.

When I first discovered Le Labo Hinoki line I fell in love with the scent to much, I used to bathe in it from head to toes: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand cream. I even emailed Le Labo team in early 2023 and begged for a perfume with this scent and got a cold reply encouraging me to try Baie 19 and Tonka 26 (which smells nothing like it). I then tried Comme Des Garçons Hinoki and Aesop, which smell similar to each other (and are beautiful) but way more harsh and pungent than Le Labo Hinoki. When this fragrance was released this year, I rushed to try it in the store and was a little disappointed upon the first try, it seemed too medicinal, sour, crisp. But when it settled into the skin and a couple of hours passed by it started giving the EXACT smell of Hinoki body products. Very comforting, creamy, woody. It stays on my skin the whole day, has a nice projection, I love it. If you love Hinoki body line it's a no brainer!

I ordrered a bach of the latest Le Labo samples, and this was the one I did not expect anything from, but ended up loving. Perhaps I was discouraged by the name, although Le Labo rarely smells anything like their name. This gives me something very nostalgic, and I find it authentic and natural. Whatever the ingredients, to me ir reminds me of being a child, working in stables and riding in the mountains. I get leather, herbs and hay and it is much better on my skin than on paper. Very slightly smoky, a hint of tobacco, dry, clean and warm. It smells like a living thing, could be a cat or a person who has spend its whole day sleeping in the herbs under the sun. It leans slightly masculine, but not so much that I can not pull it of.. I think.. Smelled divine on my husband. To me this is a scent that should be paired with skin.

Le Labo Eucalyptus 20 feels less like a "fresh eucalyptus" fragrance and more like stepping into a quiet yoga or meditation class. Instead of a sharp, cooling blast, the eucalyptus is softened. It's blended with gentle herbs and wrapped in warm woods and incense. There’s a calm, slightly resinous haze that lingers, like essential oils diffusing in a sunlit studio after a slow yin session. The cedar and musk keep it grounded, while the olibanum and labdanum add that subtle, almost spiritual warmth. It’s not energizing in the typical green or minty way. It’s introspective, soothing, and a little cocooning. If you’re expecting a bright, in-our-face eucalyptus, this might surprise you. But if you want something that captures stillness, softness, and that meditative headspace to wind down, this one really delivers.

8/10 I’m an avid Le Labo Hater- after living in New York for more than a couple months you start dreading the smell of stank fashion bros hiding their sweat with more than a healthy heaping of something like Santal 44 lol.. in fact the first time I went to a Le labo I thought all the scents had a hint of bile in it..... Regrettably I REALLY liked this new eucalyptus they came out with, it also lowkey has a hint of bile, but it works in a more rugged/musky way than the other options. It’s very herbal and churchy, and honestly doesn’t have that much of an actual eucalyptus smell imo! I can explain, but it’s very gender euphoric and brings a lovely androgynous vibe. ... I stepped away from lelabo since the company being sold. Completely lost interest in the entire house after santal 33 becoming the most worn scent in New York. A scent that used to be my signature from 08-2018. I noticed the change in the compounds and just couldn’t purchase anymore. I went into a nearby shop yesterday after work just for fun and was instantly taken back to when I just discovered s33 or maybe even the brand in general. E20 is dirty yet fresh. Unusual, signature, offensive, alluring and to me what any original fan of Le labo has been waiting for. Writing this as I wake up because it’s the first thing I noticed this morning. It’s good.

I tried this yesterday at the LeLabo store in Silverlake, Los Angeles. I'm not a big fan of this house, but I have to admit I really liked Eucalyptus 20. It has a Cedarwood note that really conjured up TamDao, my favorite perfume. It also has a subtlety, and is a contemplative scent that worked perfectly on a cloudy, windy, cool day. Labdamum and Olibanum are two other notes that provide a baby wipe note, which is comforting and nuturing. I did not detect the Eucalyptus but the whole composition is well blended and very close the skin. If it wasn't so damn expensive I would buy it.

New favorite coniferous scent. On my skin, Eucalyptus 20 smells more like tacky pine sap and Pre de Provence sage bar soap. It’s aromatic, earthy, and ambery. The woods are deep, dark, and insanely intoxicating. So ultra potent it verges on stifling... in a good way. The churchy-vibes incense is equally dense and robust. Subtle florals cut through all that thickness and temper this composition so beautifully. No sharpness on me, to boot. Thoroughly obsessed! Second only to Ylang 49 for my favorite Le Labo. MASTERPIECE

First things first, the opening, it is not it. The eucalyptus is really intense and dry, reminds me of VICKS balm. Thankfully that got away fast and gave way to a more palatable scent. The incense and the eucalyptus are a great combination, it blew my mind. The scent remains dry woody incensy and I love that. Unfortunately the price point is insane 😭😭and I don't see me buying it in the future. Just get a VICKS balm warm it up, burn some incense, and get into a priestly mood, voila! Le Labo on a budget!

I've sampled this a few times and I love it, but even more so on my partner. So beautiful and calming, kind of clears the sinuses a bit in the same way that real Eucalyptus does without really smelling like Eucalyptus (which I don't mind at all). Other incense fragrances that I've tried dose too heavily into Labdanum and dry down into an "ambery" fragrance. This doesn't do that, thank god, and instead retains a freshness all the way through. This will be my incense fragrance.

This fragrance smell absolutely amazing, very unique, very transparent. The eucalypt has that minty light fresh and lifting attribute while being woody and herbal. Only downside is that the sillage is really weak, I couldnt even smell it from 10 cm away from my wrist, you really have to go 3-4 cm close to really smell the whole fragrance, otherwise it just partially lingers without that menthol eucalyptus hit

Guys don’t let these personal opinions change your interest to at least try it for yourself, don’t write it off like that. Remember, same crowd, on this very platform, bashed Thé Matcha 26 when it just came out too and now I can’t believe how much love & appreciation it receives constantly. In regards to this one, I just leave you with this: spicy, woody, a hinoki heaven. Their best creation, yet.

Well damn. Le Labo has done it again for me. Had the official sample lying around for months and finally got round to using it. I kind of already knew but this is so up my street, it is green woody, smells like walking in an ancient wood, yet still fresh & modern and unlike anything else I’ve smelled. This will be a really nice addition to my collection, I will definitely order the 15ml of this 🥰

LOVE this one, though the eucalyptus is very much in the background. This smells a lot like Aesop Hwyl, which I also love. If you want something calming, grounding, subtle, natural smelling, and forest-like, definitely try this one out! Tip: if you get a 1ml decant of this, do several dabs of it. It's not a very strong scent and you might not get the full effect with just one dab/swipe.

I bought 20 and 22 Bergamot. This Eucalyptus smells more citrus than 22. I feel that if you want an explosion of top notes go with eucalyptus and not Bergamot, which was weak smelled like a new born baby to me though. I love 22. Very refreshing. I have had it on for one hour, and i swore it had lime in it but “computer says no”. I’m going to keep coming back for more.

is it over priced? yes. do i still love it? also yes. it smells like a spa that gives you a fluffy robe and the sauna is nearby. it is a heavier wood scent, but i love that. i feel like while the eucalyptus isn’t strong, it brightens the fragrance and adds a nice touch of freshness. i highly recommend it except for the price point. 4.5/5

To me this smells divine- like a beautiful meadow with morning dew. Sweet herbs and flowers, endless field of sweet green grass surrounded in fog. So green and sweet and dewy. Im obsessed. I must have won the gene lottery with this one as the reviews on here are all negative but fr me this is a Hozier song in a bottle.

At first spray this was almost offensive but wait a few short minutes and it settles into a beautiful, comforting, fresh aromatic but almost earthy/organic scent. I find this straight up unisex. Funny I have never loved the hyped scents from Le Labo but I have fallen in love with Neroli and Eucalyptus.

There's something that the other reviews here echo that I can't ignore. The Japanese bath house vibe is strong here and its giving steamy relaxation. Sprayed it on midday and it's now the evening, it's become a wonderful skin scent. I'd reccomend it if you're a fan of Malle's French Lover.

I've been waiting for this for years. I've been using the Hinoki hand cream and soaps since they came out, and I would also request from the brand that they create it as a perfume. This is now my new daily, my go to. Will probably be my permanent main 3 rotation.

The eucalyptus in this smells less like sap or oil and more like the leaves drying in the sun. Smelly very fresh and summery with a slight hay undertone. I really love this scent and wish i could find a cheaper alternative but alas i think this is the one for me.

this is now my absolute favorite le labo scent now, it is however very reminiscent of their hinoki body cream! i wore this throughout my trip to japan and it honestly feels like im strolling through the lush forests like yakushima 🩵

edit: fantastic actually. i dream about her starts reminiscent to mortel, then becomes more of it's own thing when the drier wood comes in has kick from the eucalyptus but mostly a resonant woody warm incense

One of my absolute favorites! I love the fresh eucalyptus note it starts off with, and really enjoy the incense when it's dried down. Very comforting scent to me. Pricey, but for me it's worth it!

I don't sense eucalyptus in this scent, but I still love it! It reminds me very much of some Aveda product I used many years ago. Very happy with this. Exactly what I have been looking for!

Beautiful scent profile in my opinion, this smell like the west coastal eucalyptus tree forest in a warm windy day with the ocean breeze. The realism in this blend is wonderful.

i could see this becoming a unique everyday wear for myself. class/office safe, woody, green fragrance i genuinely love. also, im not seeing the comparisons to aesop's hwyl.

Can confirm, smells just like the Hinoki bath products with a eucalyptus opening and a touch more incense in the mid. Late dry down is indistinguishable from Hinoki.

This is my new signature scent now. I'm obsessed. Updated to add the dry down is full on pencil shavings which can get a bit much.

Everything I’ve always wanted an Aesop fragrance to be

There is something so familial, and equally haunting, about Eucalyptus 20. But before we get into the fables and nostalgia that this fragrance inspires, we must first address the obvious bait-and-switch that Le Labo has committed once again. Le Labo is infamous for their marketing tactics, wherein the fragrance they release doesn’t resemble its namesake. In this case, Eucalyptus 20 is no exception. Nay, this is Hinoki 20. Without a stitch or a whiff of eucalyptus – just a tranquil, straight-forward blast of hinoki and woods. Those hinoki woods don’t change or evolve throughout the wear or the dry-down – they just remain peacefully calm and intact. Which is to say, this fragrance smells (mostly) identical to Le Labo’s hinoki bath line. But I’m not mad. Rather, I’m thankful. I’ve been holding my breath and my nostrils for Le Labo to release a fragrance that matches their hinoki bath products, which I adore and which stir the same quiet emotion inside me: something rooted in memory, but just out of reach. I had wanted to roast this fragrance for its rug-pull. I had jokes lined up. Le Lies-bo. Eu-can’t-smell-it 20. But then it hit me — not eucalyptus, but something deeper. Eucalyptus 20 transports me back to innocent childhood summers at my family’s lake house in Pennsylvania. It smells like the gentle and warm wood, both inside and outside the house, when the sky would open and drench the world. During such torrential downpour, we’d stay indoors for hours, wrapped in gray blankets and listening to the endless pitter-patter echoing outside. Those rainy days felt endless. Lazy. Cozy. Simple. Safe. The lake, back then, echoed with laughter. Our neighbors were young. The bar next door stayed open all night. Life felt wide open — as if all our futures still shimmered, untouched, just over the water. But time rearranges everything. The lake quieted, and the neighbors grew old. The bar is gone, replaced by a restaurant that closes after the early bird special. My aunt took her stroke, and she barely speaks now. The lake is no longer a retreat, but a reminder — of what was, and what won’t be again. It’s now a place to be endured, but never enjoyed. And yet, a single spray of Eucalyptus 20 collapses the years. For a moment, I’m back in that lake house. The rain is tapping gently on the roof. I’m young again, and everything still lies ahead. Eucalyptus 20 briefly suspends that moment — frozen in time, and priceless. It's a eulogy set deep within the steamy woods of a hinoki forest.

Very similar opening to Vetiver 46 and baie 19, and the dry down is pretty much like their hinoki bath products and other fragrances, kinda like bergamote 22, labdanum 18, another 13, thé matcha 26 (keep in mind these are similar, the dry down is closest to their Hinoki products) It’s a very light nice resinous (dry mint or basil?) fresh smell that almost smells like a brutalist architecture design or a midcentury Japandi house. It reminds me of a foggy forest or like a bathhouse that’s burning incense. does give a water smell or a fresh rain smell just like baie 19, if I could put it in that way. First it hits you with that olibanum and labdanum giving you a warm powdery resinous smell. Like a couple minutes it I do smell that camphoric smell or that fresh eucalyptus smell, keep in mind it’s actually a realistic eucalyptus and not an artificial cloying eucalyptus. After that camphor smell, I do smell that Hinoki which I reallllyy enjoy and makes me smell really clean and calm. It’s not really a strong smell but its noticeable. Overall it’s not an exciting smell but it’s much better and actually cool that we get a fragrance that’s like their Hinoki smells other than the lavande one they dropped like a year(s) ago. But eucalyptus 20 will most likely grow on me. (The dry down is really nice.) 8/10

Last year my friend bought me the le labo hinoki hand cream and I absolutely loved the scent on me. I recently finished said hand cream and was in liberty's the other day and repurchased the hand cream but while I was there I asked the assistant if there was a perfume that smelt like the hand cream and she showed me this one! It smells so similar which is strange as there is no hinoki in the perfume. I bought the perfume and wore that and the hand cream the day after and they smell divine together like a beautiful, warm forest on a late spring date with the sun shining through the leaves above and little insects floating in the sunlight. The green grass below you is slightly damp but making it luscious and bouncy beneath your feet. I havent had the chance to wear it in the summer yet but I imagine I will be taking this to the south of france for my evening perfume as I think it will match perfectly with my vintage roberto cavalli outfits I have planned!

I recently stopped by my local Le Labo to try Eucalyptus 20 and got my first impression from a sampling paper. Right away, the scent matched what others have described—resinous and ambery with an incense-like quality. The eucalyptus wasn’t immediately obvious, and it didn’t remind me much of the Hinoki line. At first, I wasn’t convinced it was for me, so I moved on and tried the body cream, which I already love. On a whim, I asked the salesperson to spray Eucalyptus 20 over the Hinoki cream on my skin. To my surprise, it smelled exactly the same. In short, my experience for the perfume is this: The top, resinuous note which may be unappealing to some is most evident on a sampling paper. However, if you spray it on your skin, it smells exactly like the Hinoki body line. Lastly, I think longevity is best when paired with the Hinoki body cream. It smells very subtle and clean otherwise. Hope this helps anyone on the fence about Eucalyptus 20!

So the dry-down of Eucalyptus 20 is very similar to Coriandre 39 as they share a green cedar-wood base that’s dry and peppery - Coriandre 39 is just greener and brighter with a touch of citric lime juice whereas Eucalyptus 20 is much smokier and woodier with cracked black pepper. Eucalyptus 20 is a clean but spicy-smoky, like the smouldering white coals from a wooden sauna. This ‘smoulder coals’ over hinoki woods aspect is what I wanted Incense: Kyoto to be like but that just reminded me too much of Encre Noire. There’s earthy petrichor here too as this eucalyptus forest has just been rained on during the dry summer heat. My boyfriend prefers Eucalyptus 20 whereas I prefer Coriandre 39 but the dry-downs of both are so very similar.

So I think this a good choice as a fragrance to accompany their Hinoki line. The Hinoki line does have a lot of ambroxan in them and I don’t get that as much with eucalyptus. Opening is the most earthy and mossy or even green you’ll get. After that it’s dry cedar. It then becomes very much like iso E super but in a much more direct and not diffuse way. I see the comparisons to CdG Hinoki and Aēsop Hwyl. CdG Hinoki always smelled musty to me and this smells dry. It’s probably closest to Hwyl as they both have a punchy spicy wood dry down. But with Le Labo there’s just a bit more of an unnatural scent whereas Aesops scents smell natural and not chemically at all.

This has a hint of eucalyptus in the opening then quickly turns into a musky hinoki fragrance, maybe some dry cedar in the mix as well. The name made me excited for a fresh green fragrance but this is not the case. Now I still do enjoy the fragrance however it was not what I expected and I really feel like this is something a house like Aesop would have released in a similar vein to Hwyl. This ended up reminding me of the Hinoki hand pomade they sell more than anything eucalyptus related. Still it is a nice fragrance, maybe they should have marketed it as a hinoki scent. Scent: 7/10 Price: 6/10 Performance: 6/10 Overall: 6.3/10

I never imagined myself purchasing a bottle of perfume from Le Labo. Their creations always felt bland and too distant for my taste. But I was mistaken. Eucalyptus 20 strikes a rare balance, dry yet soothing, earthy and smoky, medicinal with a minty freshness, and "dirty" in the most alluring way. The opening evokes an eucalyptus tree in flames, releasing a camphorous and smoky aroma. As it settles, the fragrance transforms into a herbal/woody incense that conjures the serenity of walking through a dark, cold, sacred Hinoki forest in Japan. A raw, refined, and unexpectedly spiritual fall fragrance.

I've been testing Eucalyptus 20 for two days. It smells good and reminds me of Le Labo's Hinoki body products, but this is closer to Hwyl by Aesop. And just like Hwyl, I have to bury my nose in my skin to smell anything. I hoped this scent would project stronger, like the Hinoki body cream, but that probably wasn't the creative intention. For now, I'll continue to use the body cream as a base scent when layering. If you're drawn to quiet, meditative, calming, ever-so-slightly-masculine-leaning scents, this one is for you.

This is an alright offering for a eucalyptus scent that captures the essence of walking under or near dim branches. It doesn’t have the aquatic and cypress bits of Big Sur Eucalyptus from DS & Durga or the soil and spices note of Hwyl by Aesop. Instead it’s an isolated eucalyptus branch that leans into the woody aspect. The fragrance has good longevity, lingering all day, but the projection is rather intimate. Good fragrance if you want a eucalyptusy eucalyptus scent.

It smells like the notes breakdown above would suggest - the eucalyptus note is nice but lasts for like a minute, then it's Olibanum City. Not heavy-handed like some olibanum fragrances, it's smooth and polite, but as per usual with Le Labo, the name is not an accurate reflection of the experience and I was actually hoping for more eucalyptus than I got.

Solid release. Shares some traits with the underrated Vetiver 46 imo. The Eucalyptus is easily detected but even more prominent is the olibanum with cedar and possibly elemi. I'm not compelled to buy it but it was an enjoyable wear. Performance was above average. Scent 75/100 Performance 75/100
