Patchouli 24

So where to begin with this beautifully crafted masterpiece? Back in 2018 I was visiting a Le Labo store for the first time. It was winter and the white snow turned into ice and every breath a fog. I was looking forward to discover new perfumes that I had watched on YouTube. At that time the most challenging my nose had been disposed to, was the OG A-men and Classic Van Gils witch I love by the way. I Was so exited to try Patchouli 24, and when I finally sniffed it, I was so disapointed. I thought to myself “How can anybody smell like that”? And I ended up getting samples of Thé noir 29, Rose 31, Bergamote 22 and a bunch of others that I really enyoyed and still do. After some hours in the cold december afternoon I began to think about that smell earlier in that store. Now I realised what it was. Patchouli 24 smelled like smoked meat, resinous and a mouthwatering vanilla. Now I just kept thinking about that scent and that’s where my obsession about this perfume began. A whole year came by, and I finally bought a 100 ml bottle in 2019. This perfume opened the door into a new world of scents to me. This wil be the one that started my obssesion with smokey and dark fragrances, witch is still a style of perfumes that I absolutely adore. When I smell this perfume I get transported back to a place a long long time ago. On a market where people trades and buy stuff from each other. Wear renessance clothing and all seroundings covered in smoke by multiple barbecues and a freezing fog by the cold weather. There is also a smell of vanilla coming from sweet and buttery pastries from a bakery in the background. The perfume starts with a blast of smoked meat and when it starts to settle down, it becomes more sweet because the vanilla is trying to dominate the smoke (birch tar). The whole perfume feels like a battle or a dance of dominance between the two of them and a less pronounced patchouli adding a little earthines to the compsition.The styrax acts like a peace maker transforming the perfume into a merged powdery, smokey, resinous vanilla scent, what an acomplishment!! 10/10 It is a very unique perfume best worn in the winter and fall. I’ts not very versatile, but super sexy at night. More formal than casual. Intimate with someone you love or wear it for yourself!!🔥🔥💨💨🚬🍧🍨🥓🥩

instant favorite. le labo insists on wabi-sabi as an ethic, and this feels like its most honest expression. to my chinese nose patchouli 24 is unequivocally suanmeitang. i spray it on my hair and i'm seven again, hoarding fifty cents from my lunch money and sneaking to the corner store with the boy i swore i’d marry, cracking open that grenadeque bottle and taking a whiff. every beijingese summer smelled like this. what fascinates me is that suanmeitang lived squarely in my childhood summers, yet 24 somehow alchemized that memory into the most exquisite wintertime aromatherapy. on my skin 24 presents a constant and magical evolution. every few minutes it revises itself, yet beneath every metamorphosis there’s that unwavering backbone of patchouli: the one note i trust without question. you know i love patchouli; this is patchouli rendered devotional. there's a true northern quality that nests in my chest before it ever settles on my skin everytime i carry 24 with me. i don't think le labo ever intended this. 24 is the real old xicheng: lived-in, monastic and sacred. absolutely fucking beautiful, and not in the polite sense, but in the way a memory blindsides you on a quiet afternoon when really you were supposed to be editing your midterm film but found yourself in a le labo store sniffing through all the scents instead. 24 isn't a crowd-pleaser, and god i'd think of it different if tiktok girls started praising it like they did with santal 33. patchouli 24 is my most private and intimate scent, better than the haze after sex or a therapist's office. i rarely do but when i wear it, it doesn’t feel like i’m adding something to myself; it feels like i’m remembering something I’ve always carried. patchouli 24 is the most beautiful in the way memory is beautiful. in a way the loud, grimy, 2000s beijing is beautiful.

My problem is that this is my signature scent. With a 15ml bottle costing over $100, it is not something I would buy often (I've actually only been gifted this, and picked up the odd 2mL sample vial). Thankfully, the fragrance is potent and long-lasting, so I don't need much to impart the scent. It also sticks to fabric like rabbit fur (one tragic night I dropped a canvas bag that had my vial of Patchouli 24 -- it shattered along with my heart, but I still sometimes catch a whiff over a year later). I'd best describe this scent as spending a long night in an intimate, dimly lit speakeasy with an indoor smoking section, old leather booths, and deep red velvet damask wallpaper. The patrons are mostly older men, and maybe the occasional wayward young author pouring over their manuscripts. Very distinguished, with an implication of generational wealth. Like other reviews said, you don't get much patchouli from this fragrance unless you've been wearing it a while. Definitely heavy on the birch tar and styrax, and the vanilla cuts through to calm the harshness. I've gotten countless compliments wearing this before, even when I wear it at the "wrong time" (definitely more of a cool-weather, late-night scent, but I love to wear it as I run errands in the summer too). Initially heard of it from my mom, who received it as a sample, but she said the fragrance was too strong and offensive. When I went to visit a few weeks later, wearing the perfume, she wouldn't stop talking about how amazing I smell. This and Jorum's Firewater have convinced me that strong, polarizing fragrances are just right for me.

Patchouli 24 is quite an extraordinary scent. It reminds me of Frédéric Malle Monsieur, being patchouli-dominant, but is softer and more well-rounded, with the patchouli being balanced and complemented by the other well-chosen (yet an unusual combination of) notes. Composed by Annick Ménardo of Hypnotic Poison and Lolita Lempicka fame, it is no wonder it is so impressive. It is polarising and somewhat challenging - I can understand why people dislike P24, but it is such a clever composition that manages to be both avant-garde and comforting at the same time. P24 is patchouli-dominant from initial spray, dark and earthy but not quite dirty. Birch adds a nice green woodiness initially, becoming increasingly birch tar-like as it develops, slightly smoky and leathery. A nice vanilla-amber accord emerges, with the amber adding an animalic quality to the leathery birch tar, while the vanilla in the background smooths everything over. Dry, dusty and with minimal sweetness, the vanilla is excellent - unisex and reminiscent of yellowed paper. It is quite balsamic in the later stages, lingering for hours. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. Perfectly unisex, it is earthy and ambery, unpredictable in the best way and utterly unique. Olfactory art to wear to bed. 4.5/5.

Could not believe how good this smells. Tried MFK, Byredo, Killian, PDM, Xerjoff, Initio, everything from Penhaligon's and creed. Nothing from any of the houses above smelled as good as Le Labo Patchouli 24. This is not an ordinary patchouli fragrance. This is Patchouli Perfection. Patchouli done right, in true art form. I have a very very good Patchouli fragrance, one that has 3 different kinds of Patchouli, but this one wins by mile for the smell. I can't believe how good this smells, but the ingredients are so simple. There must be some notes they do not list on their website. I do not see how anyone could not be a Patchouli lover after smelling this. Going to purchase a full bottle tomorrow. Smelling this fragrance puts me into such a good mood. I probably scared one of the employee's, I was enjoying this juice a little too much. It's 5/5/26 12:12 AM Could not get enough of this, it's very addicting. I would classify this as a holy grail fragrance. Nothing on the market smells close to this. The smell is invigorating, and so beautiful, I am honored to be living in a time where this exists. 10/10 Holy Grail Masterpiece Definitely need to explore more from this house.

It grows on you. The first time I smelled it on a paper strip at Le Labo boutique, I was almost disgusted. To me it smelled like a smoked ham and I was wondering who could enjoy this kind of smell on them. The sell assistance convinced me that it smells beautiful on skin and I tried one spritz and I regret it at the time. Then after a few hours the smell emitted from my hand was SO ADDICTIVE. I sprayed so many on me that I couldn't tell which one it was so I went back to get a discovery set with the whole line and a coupon for one 50ml bottle. When I revisited Patchouli 24 at home without all the other smells in the boutique, it was entrancing. A calming bonfire under a tranquil night sky. Then comes the dried down...THIS is the smell that was so addictive. It's smoky but not burnt. The vanilla adds sweetness and a dreamy quality to the scent. I think Patchouli 24 balances the unconventional element of a niche fragrance and wearability very well. I have smelled a few interesting niche fragrance that I cannot imagine wearing it but I can appreciate the artistry. This one thread well between the lines.

I ignored this one for so long after originally testing it ____ years ago. You know, when my nose hadn't developed yet. 😉 The name patchouli is definitely misleading, lol but this is still a gorgeous smokey, woody scent. As others have mentioned- this does have a bbq like quality to it that surprisingly, I love ( & I'm a vegetarian 🫠). My husband wore it the other day and I was just so attracted to him. Shoot, I'm wearing it right now in 80°F weather and I'm attracted to myself 💁♀️. Extremely long lasting. "Beast mode" as some would say. I don't have a full bottle (just a sample) but have already purchased the shower gel... It's so good. Perhaps a 15mL would be sufficient as it's performance is outstanding! Definitely not something I consider to be "feminine" by any means. Don't wear this if you're wearing pink and a dress, or your pastel tweed outfits. Barbie would never wear this. Instead, wear this with your black leather outfits with a bold red lip. Maybe even on cooler days when you have your trench coat on 😎 Oh, you know what couple could share this fragrance? The intense charred wood at the intro can potentially be off-putting to some -- but that creamy, earth mother patchouli drydown makes it SO worth the while. My coworkers dislike the fired wood smell so intensely that I save Patchouli 24 for nights in -- like tonight. I adore certain fragrances for my own sake, and the nostalgia this one invokes is from some of the best years of my life. Midnight bonfires on the beach in teenage; skinny dipping under the moonlight at a lake in a forest, with several white birch trees (which we likely used for the fire) on the hillsides surrounding the lake, in a rural area south of Des Moines; where all the other freaks, geeks, stoners, punks, + a transgender friend (unheard of in Iowa in the nineties!) would gather, while tripping on Felix the cat LSD. Going out to deeper waters for a quickie with my crush at the time 😊 just memories of a different life lived altogether, but is still undeniably a part of me. This is why I collect fragrance -- to relive these precious memories so vividly!

If I was to describe this perfume as a night out.... I'd be pulling on my wellies, my sheepskin gloves and looking out my cosiest hat and scarf. We' be climbing into a beaten up old land-rover and heading up a long muddy track into the woods. Hanging around by a fire, we'd be burning off the windfall branches, maybe a bit of messy creosote soaked old fence post got in there too btw. A perfect peaty malt sits on the side cutting through the taste of approaching frost and warming the heart. As the wind sets up and the night draws in we head indoors and find ourselves in a beautiful woodworking studio. Classic leather arm chairs invite us round to a kettle on the stove. That aroma of sweet well seasond timber, almost scorched when cut, envelopes us. The evening opens into comfortable conversation. If you're an outdoor socialising, cold climate living, adventure seeking sort of person, this perfume is a great friend to make memories with, in the darker months.

Smoke, wood, vanilla, and patchouli, all rubbing around together in a way which produces the smell of a delicious floral-peaty whisky without trying. This is an object lesson in making a really enjoyable boozehound smell without naming it after a cocktail and sticking it in a bottle that looks like a crystal tumbler; all the more enjoyable because the similarity to a lovely drink is probably entirely accidental and a byproduct of a successful attempt to make a lovely perfume. It goes on for ages and you can definitely hear it from the back of a large room. Seasonality in perfume is largely bollocks, but probably a bit of an odd choice when considering options for poolside yoga when holidaying in the Seychelles. When I used to smoke, this blended well with my ever-present ashy aura, so those among us who still enjoy the highest pleasure might want to give it a look, and spark one up for me.

Like putting my nose directly on a burning sappy tree. The smell is linear throughout, but begins a bit harsh... a smokey bonfire-esque smell initially but drying down into something muddy yet still clean? There's really no sweetness in the smell! Zero! Smells so distinct and natural it doesn’t even smell like a perfume at all! So it’s excellent for a signature. Suckers for benzoin-heavy smells will absolutely LOVE this. The vanilla lends it the appropriate sweetness purely for balance. I’m African, and to me this smells ancient... like old sudanese people LOL. If you’ve smelt Margiela’s jazz club/BTF then you know might what I mean. This is also what I’d imagine a nomad would smell like.. someone travelling across North Africa almost touching West.. wearing lots of henna and selling magical herbs; random but lol. 9/10 i dig this!!!! I hope they never discontinue it

very unique scent, almost a misnomer as patchouli is not very present (on the initial spray or after the dry-down). more of a general "incense" fragrance, with some sweetness to balance it out. incredible blend of smoky, floral, woody. as it dries down, it adopts a richer gourmand profile with stronger notes of vanilla. that being said, even with the "heaviness" of the scent profile, I think it's fairly versatile and could be worn regularly. in my opinion, it's one of the underrated options at le labo and definitely worth a try for anyone into smoky/leathery/incense-y fragrances. i'm very selective about buying fragrances at retail (mostly for the cost; nothing's worse than trying something in the store, spending $200+ on a bottle, only for it to sit unused) but this one was such an easy decision for me. wear it for the day, discover the different layers.

Initially, I was intrigued by this fragrance. I couldn’t figure out if I enjoyed it. It opened with a smoked wood scent...almost...but not quite reminiscent of Replica - By The Fireplace. BTFP is much sweeter. Patcholli 24, in the middle is a dry birch woody scent. It smells like freshly chopped wood with a hint of vanilla in the background. In the dry down it smells like sweet vanilla and Patchhouli. The smokey tones vanish. It leans masculine in the opening but the dry down is sweet and sensual on my skin which leans a bit feminine in my opinion. I enjoy this but I do not see myself wearing it too often. However, I would love to add this to my collection since this is such a unique take on Patchouli. I prefer to smell this on a man! Convincing my bf to buy a full size. He loves it!

I will start off by putting out the disclaimer that I am not a huge fan of Le Labo as a house. I was gifted a sampler box by a friend which came with a gift card for a 50ml FB, though, so I had to pick something. Of all the things I tried, a couple were enjoyable (Matcha and Another 13), but this was a standout fragrance. I typically go for green or floral scents, but this has a very uniquely funky smell that is highly addictive. This scent starts out smokey, but it develops to become more of a resinous aroma that would be on a cigarette smoker who lives among leather bound books, incense sticks, and cannabis. I have to say, this is so out there, yet so intriguing. Not my everyday wearer, but definitely a fun wear for rainy day weekends.

The reviews of this one are hilarious. And I can appreciate both the lovers and haters. This one is beautifully hard to love. Which is like your favorite obscure band. You feel like you're part of a secret. There's something so wrong but so right about it. Burnt rubber and tar, BBQ'd meat, floral-musk notes, and sweet vanilla. Motorcycles, leather, ominous foreboding, and sex. And yet, oddly comforting. It's a piece of aesthetic irony, contradiction, and sex appeal. One of my absolute faves. I like wearing it to work. Which is how I think it should be worn. Completely inappropriately. Just like the scent itself. 10 of 10. Longevity is ridiculous. It stops when you shower and scrub it off. And not until then.

@santalberrysilk my brother bought one and i gotta say, its absolutely unique. yesterday when my brother bought i like it but no that much, as the day went on i kept sniffing my clothes that i put it on and i swear its a trippy werid scent that keeps seducing you to sniff it tell you finally understand and 2 days in i just keep loving and figuring out and loving the scent more. but just to let you might not like it at first though. it smells like Father Pucci from Jojo when he was traveling between space and time, with a goat farm with dark purple not pink bubblegum, in New York when its quite with a gangster and a cherry on top. hella wild. i keep going back for sniffles love it weird.

An addictive smoky scent. Very offensive at first but the more I smell it the more I'm drawn to it. You can definitely smell that woody, smoky, leathery scents mentioned in the main accords, its such a dark and alluring scent with this lightness that's hidden underneath. the vanilla undertone is so subtle but visible in the dry down. People keep mentioning cowboys which I can definitely see but I do think this is a very classy black-tie gala type of scent. I'm never drawn to these type of scents but something about this is just so addictive.

The initial scent was a funk. But after 5 minutes, it really reads custard and then Christmas spice which I would never complain about. Very Christmas spicy (not Christmas sweet) and very pleasant. Projects and bubbles indoors. Outdoors it really blends in well. It isn’t strong in patchouie much. Maybe it’s the birch bark. I would chew on black birch bark for fun: it has a wintergreen flavor so this scores big memory points for me. Dry down: very patchouli. Herbal medicine shop. Still like it though. I think I’ll pair it with promise by FM

This is truly a great scent. Absolutely a unique take on patchouli. Not a chocolaty or dank patchouli, this one is fresh and outdoorsy when paired with cade oil for smokiness. The vanilla comes in and, despite its incongruence, is perfectly paired with the other notes. The combination evokes something like a birch beer or cream soda enjoyed outdoors. This is an all year round perfume for me and can be dressed up to a summer night event. As a woman, I love this for myself, so no one should be put off by the male leaning votes.

It's like you left a glass of coke sitting by a fire that's slowly going out in the grand library of a Scottish castle. Or maybe it's that you mixed the cola with a really peaty single-malt scotch. Either way it smells a little dirty, sweet, and somehow very expensive. Le Labo is great with these contradictions. I've always found good performance and projection here... I have coats in my closet that I last wore with this.... four years ago..... that still smell like patch24. Very evocative. I'll love this forever. :)

Definitely one of my many favourites to use in winter maybe autumn , don’t you ever think of using it in another season otherwise you will hate it. On your first sniff you will be hit by a strong smokiness punch when it settles you kind of feel the vanilla but still the smokiness is there. I don’t know why it’s called patchouli any how I definitely love it. I remember wearing in Manchester in December and the temperature was almost zero Centigrade I felt like a walking fireplace.

Oh dang. This is an incredible smoky wood scent that immediately takes me back to childhood camping trips. Somehow combines that smell of the forest around your campsite and the burning of the campfire you made into a strong, warm, comforting smoke and woody scent. The tiny bit of vanilla in there makes it slightly more fluffy for what is otherwise a very earthy and smoky fragrance. Which I like. I get almost no patchouli. But definitely a lot of birch. Definitely a yes for me.

A captivating and unique scent. Very smoky. A pungent campfire of resinous woods. It has an addictive quality that you just want to keep inhaling. I wore it to a meditation retreat and after one of the sessions, a man found me and told me that he was so drawn to it during the session, he kept having to work to detach from it in his mind to achieve his mediation goal. Illl never forget that. Lovely unisex at most, masculine scent that still works beautifully on a female.

I love this as a scent. If I smelt this on a freezing winters day I would be more than blissful. I think one would have to be totally left of the middle to wear this as it would really off putting to some as a perfume. To me it smells like Lansong Souchong tea bags which I adore the smell of. Incredibly Smokey and almost meaty if I dare say it. I love it. Most will hate it. I take my hat off to anyone that can pull this off.

A fellow fraghead said this can come off like Bulgari's Black (the hockey puck) and I can totally see that. Smokey, kind of industrial vibe, definitely not for the faint of heart or shy. I'm generally not one for a smoke overdose, but this doesn't do that (at least to my nose). A little bit of subtle sweetness but nothing even budging near Gourmand. This is going to be such a beast, I have zero doubts in my mind.

Honestly my favorite perfume in my collection since I first purchased in 2023. It oddly reminds me of the ride in the Epcot ball when I was a kid. There is a very heavy smoke smell but in the best way possible. Very difficult to describe but definitely not patchouli. I also love layering this with Vanille 44 and The Noir. This is not a safe blind buy definitely sample. I am a woman that prefers masculine scents.

Smells like 酸梅汤, which is a Chinese plum drink that translates literally in English to "sour plum soup." Yeah that but smashed to the soul with sexy smokiness and surprisingly light patchouli. Actually, about that, patchouli as a top note is really wack, and also implies that it fails to be a patchouli fragrance anymore 5-15 minutes after the initial spray. But eh who cares, this fragrance is sexy as all hell.

I bought it and I like it. Waited for a long time but as a patchouli lover, I had to have it. I would say this is best worn on weekends in fall/winter day or night. Opening is strong, it reminds me of a Fahrenheit opening In the sense that it is strong and overwhelming but it ispart of the journey to something more subdued and elegant. Really this should be at least 4.1/5 versus the 3.90. IMO

This one is so intriguing. Initially I was turned off by a powdery note, and that the namesake patchouli is not prominent. But I've been converted by wearing it. It's so smoky. It's so savory. It's all leather, smoke, and burnt wood. Vanilla makes an appearance after dry-down, but the patchouli is not the main event here. Wear if you want to smell like a campfire.

this is the scent that got me into niche - weird since this seems to be one of the less popular fragrances on le labo’s roster. i love this and cherish this. it starts off a total smoke show and as it dries down the sweet vanilla shines through. this is a story of a burning tree and the sweet rebirth that comes from its destruction. 10/10 from me!

I like it. Not a friendly fragrance. You won’t smell nice or cozy, but after a while you get used to it. Just like being in love. You just give up and realize your expectations were too high so you settle with an average person. I’m sorry if this review sucks but you shouldn’t expect anything from anyone on the Internet or life actually.

Amazing scent. The middle notes of birch and styrax (I would almost be tempted to say there's tar and vetiver there - even if not listed) give this perfume its unique smoky and leathery character. The dried down version is less bold and smoother. Overall, a unique one and my true favourite. 10/10.

Gorgeous. This potion rocks. It's tar, wood, vanilla, leather and patchouli. Smells like a gothic library used in a vampire story and I love it! For those of us who are a little jaded with generic white florals, berry/toffee confections and the ouds - this stuff is the antidote!

Incredibly classy scent. A warm smoked leather, engulfing and intrusive. The dry down is a sweeter vanilla but retains a lingering abrasion from the tar. This scent has far more honesty when compared to Le Labo's otherwise sweetened aesthetic. A beautifully debortuous scent.

Love this fragrance so much. The dry down is amazing since there's such a contrast to the rich smokey opening. Not a safe wear to the office but rather to an outdoor event in the winter or to a party. Definitely a conversation starter. Edit: Don't over spray!

I really like it. I find the smoke note to be quite strong, which isn't mentioned in the "perfume pyramid" shown above. I have worn it to the ranch. The cowboy noticed it and said that he likes it, so to me that's the highest compliment possible. Very macho.

I have this fragrance. I really like it. However, I have notice that the scent is different as compared to when I first bought it. I bought this in 2019. The change was the intensity and the way it smells. Anyone experience this with Le Labo fragrances?

Patchouli 24 ✽✽✽✽✽ Le Labo’s Magnum Opus. From hellishly smoky, burnt meat- like opening, all up until its sweet, charming vanillic dry down, Patchouli 24 is an embodiment of a perfumer at the height of their powers(shamelessly showing off while at it).

This is my second review of Patchouli 24. I'm obsessed. Yes, it's smoky, rubbery, vanillic, polarizing, all of the things otherwise stated in the reviews. But it also smells just like Dr. Pepper. Ugh, i love it so...

Smells like a goat farm with a with bubblegum in Downtown New York. i still don't quite understand or get the accords of the perfume, i don't know when it should be worn. it smells gangster as hell i don't know why.

Smells like a wintry night and you're being embraced by a bear in a leather jacket and he smells like the cigar he just smoked. I'm obsessed. A profoundly sensual and comforting scent.

I loved it, even if its no patchouli at all but pure burning dry grass. But after reading the comment on here about it smelling like grilled cheese toast, I cannot get past it.

Lagavulin for your body. The smoke and earth in this is divine. Pour yourself a glass of Islay’s finest. Spritz some Patchouli 24 on you. Stare into your fire. Job done. 👌🏻

Can we all agree it should be renamed "Barbecue 24"? I haven't seen such consensus on a fragrance yet: Le Labo's Patchouli is zero patchouli and all charcoal smoke.

Quick Sniff Smokey , Dirty Leather and Rich Texture if you are a Cuir De Russe lover thi is a must try. And yes it similar to Cartier XIII but much bolder. Cheers

A meat smoker exploding at a backyard barbecue and all you have to extinguish the flames is Thai iced tea. One of my absolute favorites.

This is a very addicting scent. Highly recommend you getting your nose on this one. Definitely deserves the status of "Legendary".

the smokiness is so beautiful. i hear a lot of criticism involving the smoky funk, but thats what sucks me in.
