Rose 31 Perfume Oil

This is not a jammie rosey scent. I picked this oil version because initially thought it would be more potent. I love how this scent gives you that sexy matured vibes. Upon the first drop and massaging onto to your skin, you would be able to smell the greeny and spicy rose. That spiciness, I would say, from cumin, pepper and cloves. It’s not jammie rose and sweet scent like any other fragrance. I find it’s quite linear perhaps due to oil base. I was wearing this scent on a warm day and put it on my hair, neck and wrists, which I find that the warmth helps the sillage more louder and it brings out the oud very nicely sweet. The Amber and olibanum notes helped that green note smoother and rounder. Edited : To me, the longevity for this oil is much better than the EDP version and stays on your skin 8+Hrs especially if you put this on your hair it will project through out the day.

I was so curious about this scent, but hesitant to blind buy it because it’s pricey, and in some reviews, people were saying it smells like Indian food or cinnamon chewing gum. First I bought the laundry detergent, which I loved, and then decided to get the oil. I don’t really smell over the top cumin in this, or getting the references that people were saying with the spray. To my nose, it smells like a natural, earthy, woody & green rose. The rose is there, but it’s not front and center, more side by side with the cedar/ oud and vetiver. Very woody, earthy and natural smelling. I really like this oil! edit- the spray smells a little different- the cumin note is more prominent, but when it dries down, it’s more tolerable. The lotion smells incredible, probably my favorite, followed by the perfume oil.

Spicy rose, so a real pleasant surprise for me. So so much clove. I would never have blind purchased but got this oil/balm formula in a beauty calendar and it’s been the best fragrance of the bunch. Not sweet at all and sits closer to skin than my experience with other Le Labo. It’s powerful though and has longevity on me. If you are not crazy about up front Rose this is a beautiful composition where it sits amongst spices very comfortably and warmly.

I have the oil balm but that isn’t on Fragrantica so reviewing the oil version. This is one of many spicy roses on the market at the moment. It’s in the same family as Rose of No Man’s Land by Byredo, Le Mat by Mendittorosa and Wild Rosinda by LBTY. Rose 31 is very nice. I smell cumin, clove, pepper, nutmeg and rose, with a woody base. To my nose it smells dry but not powdery. I get pretty poor longevity and projection with the oil balm, I’d be very interested to know if this is better with the spray version. I really like it but the performance lets it down. Compared to the other fragrances I’ve mentioned Rose 31 is dryer, less jammy and less sweet than the LBTY version. It’s quite similar to the Byredo. My favourite is the Mendittorosa because it smells much more complex and is less linear. Le Mat has a very spicy almost challenging opening, then the rose comes through, then it has this amazing cozy cashmere and patchouli dry down that lasts on clothes until you wash them. I have a 10ml roll on balm which I’ve used loads and still have plenty left. When it runs out I think I’d rather save up and buy Le Mat but that’s personal preference. It’s a nice fragrance and I have had compliments on it (after I’ve hugged people shortly after applying, you won’t get compliments hours later unless it wears very differently on you.)

I'm wearing Le Labo Rose 31 body lotion on my hands today, and I cannot stop smelling my skin. Even though this is a lotion, the sillage is amazing and enveloping - starting out as a fresh true rose with hints of greenery and spice, which is joined almost immediately by a savory cumin note backed up by peppery wood. The effect is not sweaty or bitter; instead it's a warm enveloping, like snuggling a puppy in a rose garden. almost six hours later, the rose is a memory, but the cumin leaves just a trace of warmth. The wood is blending into the scent of skin, in one of the most gracious long drydowns I have ever experienced. This one is gorgeous and addictive even though I generally dislike cumin in my food and perfume, both.
