Yes, yes and YES! Just received my delivery from lucky scent as I was going out the door to the cleaners. Took the time in the car to open box and look it over and spray a little. I thought, yes... Well crafted and just smells great. Driving I continued to get whiffs with the window open. However, walking into the cleaners standing at the counter, the owners stylish son came to the counter. He was smelling some kinda good. Thinking to myself, shit I thought this Rose 31 was good. Then he said "Yeah Mr. J, that one smells really nice". I thought it was him and the Rose 31 spoke to him and me. You will enjoy wearing just for you. Smooth, clean, aromatic, confident and inviting. You want explanation of notes, read one of the pro reviews. I only tell you of the wearing experience... although it is this one wearing, it is a very enjoyable experience. I let my daughter test it and she called me to say, "dad I think this is too girly for you, you should give it to me". I told her ok, but I am keeping it... She wants a bottle for herself. UPDATE: Wore twice to work and noticed it is not powerful in sillage and projection, but it is noticeable in a personal space... Very personal, so personal that I have been told "you smell good" by females getting closer and have been asked by couple of guys what I was wearing. Yes, this is a scent you wear for you but also a scent that gets you noticed in a personal way. Longevity seems short, however when you move from a standstill you get a whiff of Rose 31 still at work 8 plus hours. Outside Rose 31has good sillage with the breeze. Pleased with this one a staple in my collection. 7.16.13 Well my daughter won and I lost the Rose 31 to her... So I purchased a bottle with her name on it and she kept mine also.

This is one of those rare birds of a perfume that snuck up on me...When I first smelled it in 2012 I detested it. First off, I really hate rose. Second, I got a very strong male body odor and that BO smell you can get when you cook up certain breakfast sausage in the morning. So, 3 strikes. Then, I was in Seattle in 2013 at a very, very nice hotel and there they were, strewn about--Rose 31 by Le Labo...soap, body lotion and shower gel. I smelled it again, and this time, it was 'hummm....interesting'. I kept the soap and a body lotion....but still didn't REALLY like it. Then, the other day I came across the hotel size body lotion- long forgotten after I tossed it in an old gym bag. I put it on my hands...MAGIC. I didn't like it, I LOVED IT. So, sometimes the best music is something that I hated when I first heard it and now, the same goes for perfumes....kind of a mysterious, surprising and happy connection. So, I bought Rose 31 in every way I could--shower gel, body lotion, perfume, massage oil/body oil and the perfume oil. Like I said, I love it....hearts, hearts, hearts... I feel both sexy AND energized AND calm when I wear it--how can I feel calm and energized? I have no idea but I am in olfactory bliss. If you don't like this, give it another shot. I hope you find love with it too. I am not a jealous person.

I asked Lucky sent for a sample of two Le Labo fragrances with an order that I received today, and I’m so happy that they let me have those because they are $7 for a sample. So I appreciate them for that. I got rose 31 and baie 19 and both of them blew me away, but I ended up ordering rose 31 later after wearing it for a few hours. Instant obsession! It hits you pretty hard in the opening, first with rose and a peppery scent, which is cumin. Def do not get a body odor scent at all like others mentioned. I have no idea what they are talking about. The rose reminds me of tea rose oil that I used to buy in the 90s... it’s not heavy or headache inducing. It mellows out with the cumin and becomes so delicate but earthy and a bit powdery and mossy and a little dusty, but in a really good way. I’d imagine this scent would be loved by ethereal type minimalistic girls who are probably vegan or health conscience and have really good taste in most things. This girl would prob wear flowy white linen dresses and love fresh flowers and are naturally beautiful. They are probably into the supernatural and are INFJ personality types.

I have this one, Rose Ardoise by Atelier Materi, Rose d'Arabie by Armani, Sheik Al Sheila by Swiss Arabian and Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud, More Than Words from Xerjoff. I guess the only one that's lacking from the same series is MFK Oud Satin Mood. This one is my favorite. It's an oriental rose, and more complex than the other ones. Slightly spicy, modern, a little "stiff", sometimes soft, sometimes a little prickly. A bit sweaty right at the beginning - almost like a saffron note. Rose d'Arabie, Sheik Al Sheila and More than Words are all oudy roses, very similar to each other. Except: Rose d'Arabie is pretty much the same smell throughout the whole wear time. More Than Words starts out pretty crazy and ends up at a spicier Rose d'Arabie. Sheila Al Sheik needs maceration for a month or so before becoming good. Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud is similar, but less oud, less spice, more rose. Atelier Materi Rose Ardeoise is in a way the ost similar to Rose 31, but it has a pretty strange indolic/pee note that can turn people off. Both Rose Ardoise and Rose 31 are pretty light on the oud, and I like that.

I have been eyeing this perfume since 3 years ago when I had a staycation at Fairmount Singapore but was hesitant to purchase it due to the high price point. Years later, I found myself at the M&S in Oxford Street trying out their Apothecary Restful fragrance. Immediately, I recognized the scent to be extremely similar to that of Rose 31. Immediately I grabbed a bottle for myself for the price of £12. I went to the Le Labo boutique to try on Rose 31 for a side-by-side comparison and indeed they smelled 95% identical. The only side difference is that Rose 31 opened with a slightly spicy cumin scent while Restful opened with an earthy black pepper scent. Both fade into this identical rosy cedar woody smell. The longevity however for Rose 31 is way superior to that of Restful (around 7 hours in comparison to 3). Given the similarity of the 2 fragrances, I am surprised that no one talks about the M&S Restful fragrance. So if you are contemplating whether to spend $230 on a 1.7 fl oz Rose 31, I'd recommend you to grab a bottle of M&S Restful at £12 for the same volume the next time you visit UK.

This fragrance is gorgeous, with that unique signature of Bugey that is a special, creamy softness on the drydown (ex. Brunello Cuccinelli Femme). Rose 31 is a dry woody fragrance, and when the woods ‘dry down’ the veil blooms with a faithful but discrete creamy rose, which is so balanced that even people who do not like rose can try this scent. This note is enveloped in creamy sandalwood and musc, and this delicate lingering impression is almost identical in Cucinelli, (lacking only the rose note). (I guess if you don’t like Rose, you should try Brunello Femme). But it is this lingering impression that makes me love and embrace both fragrances. The effect is balanced, poised, restrained and decadent at the same time. Serious and delicate, and with best-ever quality, expertly balanced and blended ingredients. The polar opposite of bug-spray grand-dame fragrances. There is no sweetness, which I prefer. You don’t have to be a lady to wear this, but can be. All in all, I am myself, wrapped in wellbeing, cashmere and top-of-the-line quality. Love. 5/5.

Now that Rose 31 is 20 years old I feel like it is time to call it a classic, influential fragrance. It takes me back to the hipster area, back to when people still went out to bars or indie rock shows on the weekends. A new type of femme fatale who didn't want to smell like Chanel No 5 nor CK One. She is wearing lived-in eye liner, a studded accessory, and something linen or leather. To me, Rose 31 was inspired by the original Comme de Garcon, which has a dry incense-y rose with lots and lots of spices. Rose 31 built on that concept by getting rid of most of the spices and then doubling down on the cumin to create an animalic facet that is very strong in the opening, but quiets down after 10 minutes, blending perfectly with the other notes for the rest of the wear. As the fragrance develops, a quality labdanum note and dry chypre structure become more apparent. IMO, labdanum is one of the best notes/accords produced by the house. This is one of my favorite rose fragrances. Can we bring back indie sleaze for real this time?

Ok I have to confess I’ve never smelled this perfume BUT I have smelled the Le Labo body products (lotion, soap, shampoo, conditioner) with this scent and I own the Dossier dupe (Floral Rose) which smells just like those products. So that’s what I’m basing this review on. I LOVE this scent. I love rose in general but if you aren’t so into it, you might still like this. It somehow feels clean and put together despite the “dirtiness” of the cumin (which btw doesn’t smell like you opened a jar or cumin, just adds some warmth and earthiness). To me it’s a dry, slightly spicy rose that wears good in all seasons. I like to match my fragrance to my mood, the season, the occasion, my outfit, etc so I have plenty that I cycle between but I could happily wear this every day. It’s feminine but not girly, clean but with an edge, it’s present but not overpowering. It seems to be controversial and racking up the BO allegations, but it’s beautiful to me.

An unconventional review for an unconventional rose. Here we go. So, it DOES smell a bit like BO, as is frequently noted due to the cumin top notes. But I can’t say I’m terribly offended by it. When I first smelled this on a tester strip, I was overwhelmed by rich spice, woods, resins and could barely smell the rose... it was beautiful and intoxicating. When I sprayed it on my skin, the rose appeared rather prominently... beautiful, sensual, ripe. It’s the kind of rose that I really love — not too sweet, somewhat inky, red, naturalistic, and voluptuous, with the oud and cumin complimenting and augmenting it in the most unexpected way. I will say that the longevity is not amazing. But this won’t deter me too much. The fragrance is probably unisex but I can’t help but feel it leans slightly edgy-feminine, at least on my skin. It feels somehow naughty. Like I shouldn’t like it and shouldn’t wear it. But I do, and I will!

Love this fragrance. I first discovered it through the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. I kept the perfume lotion and shower gel. I was 20, and I remember loving it so much. Deep down I knew it would become my signature scent one day when I was more mature. For me, Rose 31 feels like meeting your soulmate at the wrong time. It’s unexplainable. The moment I smelled the scent I knew it was the right one. But it was just a little too mature for me. Something in me knew that I would come back to it one day. I spent the next 10 years yearning for scent that spoke to my soul, only to realize that nothing was as electrifying to my heart as Rose 31. The moment I realized that, I knew I had to get it. Now I am 30 and finally own a bottle and proudly calling it my signature scent. For me It’s a full-circle moment of self-discovery. Isn’t it ironic that sometimes our younger selves already know who we are long before we do?

Gosh, I really wanted to love this. Upon first spray I'm hit with a blast of cumin, which is uncommon but not unpleasant. Then as this further develops on my skin, all I smell is spices, a concoction that turns into something I can't describe otherwise than smelling like an armpit. update: It seems I've gotten used to/addicted to the 'armpit' smell. Though it doesn't smell like armpit to me anymore, it still has a kind of sweaty skin/BO scent, but in the most addicting way possible. It smells like rose mixed with the BO of a lover. In one week of trying this one again I added it to my top scents. second update: I've been wearing this one constitently for a few weeks now and I can't stop. Everyone has a perfume that just works on their skin, and for me, that's Rose 31. It feels like an extension of myself.

I have loved this for 10 years already. To me, it's a very "big city" rose. The rose isn't that prominent, and isn't sweet. There's something indolic in here that resembles ylang-ylang, making this clean, but also dirty. I'm actually not quite sure if it's the cumin note, but honestly, I don't remember cumin smelling quite like that. I somehow always get confused about why I like the indolic note in here, as I despise such notes in all other perfumes I've tried. In here, it makes this really alluring somehow. I'm totally addicted to smelling myself when I have this on. Not sure about how the perfume comes across to others. It's similar to Atelier Msteri Rose Ardoise, but that one is way more indolic, to the point that I sometimes wonder if it comes off as BO or dirty undies to others.

This fragrance has a strong opening, but on my skin it dries down to a very pretty sweet, spicy, rosy/musky/woody scent. I don't see where y'all are getting B.O. from it, but maybe it's just one of those scents works differently on different skin chemistries. It's not a typical rose scent and I love that for it, it has its own subtle sexiness and sweet sophistication to it. It makes for a beautiful everyday or signature scent. Not about the fragrance itself, but when I got it at the Le Labo store I love that they mixed it up right on the spot and even put my name on the label (and it's refillable!). It's worth a pretty penny for sure, and you could probably find cheaper fragrances that smell similarly, but if you really want it and have the money, it's a nice treat for yourself.

I’m addicted to this fragrance. The lush and spicy rose is intoxicating. I want to spray it on at all times of day. I look forward to it regardless of whether there is an occasion. Before this fragrance, I’d always considered rose fragrances to be for women, but fortunately the Le Labo saleswoman convinced me to try it. Having done some research, I understand this fragrance was in fact originally marketed toward men. Word to the wise: I initially purchased this from a discounter, but it was all cumin no rose. I looked up the batch code, and it was nearly 4 years old. I returned it and bought it from the storefront and this is not the case, so I suspect with age the cumin takes over and frankly it’s not the same experience whatsoever. Enjoy!

note: i got this in a sample pack as a christmas gift! i typically don’t care for rose scents, but this one really left me pleasantly surprised!! i find rose-forward fragrances to usually lean too feminine for me, and i also find that they often smell almost fake? like someone who’s never smelled a rose before wanted to make something that smelled like rose. but this isn’t the case with rose 31. this opens with the rose and this odd, also astringent note?? perhaps it the cumin, but it quickly tames itself out and becomes woody and very well-balanced. its woody and musky without being super masculine, as the rose and other floral note of labdanum balances it out nicely! this is rose fragrance with a twist and i love it!!

Rose 31 is a very deep, intensely smooth musky woody rose. The rose note isn’t too sweet, nor soapy or powdery and definitely not jammy. It’s a camphor like, boozy (think gin) rose balanced beautifully with a smooth and ethereal musk and wood accord. My favorite Le Labo offering. Super classy and perfectly unisex. Folks are complaining about the cumin note but on my skin it’s blended in with the musk note perfectly giving the composition a very natural and deep clean skin musk that harmoniously accentuates the boozy, woody camphorous rose. Im not sure what everyone is on about but the cumin note is no where near as bad as some people have described, at least not to my nose or on my skin. 10/10

Today is a warm day in LA, and I love wearing Rose 31 in the heat, where it really blooms. To me, it is not a "rose" perfume, but rather a dirty, musky, incense-y, woody perfume with some beautiful rose top notes. Famously features a huge, tangy cumin note that makes Rose 31 completely NSFW. To me, it smells like high summer in NYC or a night out on the Sunset Strip. Seems to me like it's also an early example of the "ambroxan bomb" niche fragrance trend - in the best possible way! 😝 I love Rose 31 for it's unapologetically warm, sweaty, salty sillage. I find it funny that it's used as a bath product in 5-star hotels. All around, just a fantastic perfume for rock stars of any gender!

My all time favorite. I find that the cumin isn't intense and doesn't give the composition the same smell of foods with cumin. Olfactory cumin, to my nose, smells warm and sweaty, but pleasant, like a clean T-shirt the morning after wearing it to bed. The body of the composition is unmistakably rosy throughout. As the cumin dissipates and the woods, resins, and, most of all, vetiver take center stage, the rose persists. The vetiver makes the fragrance truly unisex; friends have commented that this smells "gentlemanly" or "mature", and so even if I had concerns about wearing too feminine a rose (which I don't), this would be a safe middle ground for anyone into florals.

I've been wearing Rose 31 quite a bit lately, and it's surprisingly not overwhelming in the heat! This fragrance is so beautiful.. it's so grounding and almost reassuring. It feels like a trusted friend telling you: "hey, you've got this. You're here now - just be here. Don't sweat the stuff outside of your control. All you can do is your best, and love people in the ways you know how" A lot of Le Labo fragrances have that very *present* feeling about them, though they communicate different things. They're so layered and lively. I get the complaints about the cumin b.o. note, but that lasts all of ten minutes before it settles and Rose 31 really comes into herself.

Such a chameleon! It starts off floral but quickly transforms into that spicy, woody, almost musky scent. The cumin adds that human-like warmth, and the cedar + vetiver makes it dry and aromatic. There is a slight sweetness in the dry down likely coming from the labdanum and olibanum as it comes cross as rich, resinous, slightly sweet, and ambery aroma, creating a warm, syrupy effect. I also appreciate how the olibanum has a slightly balsamic scent that contributes to the depth of the fragrance. It makes me feel so luxurious when I wear it. I'd say it's unisex and it’s definitely a unique take on rose. I only wish that rose note was a bit more pronounced.

This is such a refreshingly unisex interpretation of rose. It’s not dainty or elegant...it’s rustic...like worn-in leather boots. It does what Le Labo does best. It’s luxurious, artisanal, a little rugged...and not a conventional interpretation of the namesake ingredient. Scent imagery: A rancher holding a rose, reclaimed wood, craftsmanship, gardening & carpentry, antiques roadshow, and yeah I kind of agree with other commenters that “hot girl’s armpit” is pretty apt. (Also.....It smells almost identical to Diptyque’s Lunamaris, but it’s less bright, and more earthy.)

Oh, I'm sad to read all the reviews that say that this is a B.O. nightmare. I'm reminded of folks who aren't able to properly taste cilantro! Thankfully, neither of those things is true for me. I find Rose 31 to be a refreshing skin scent with lotsa interesting facets, including the rose that's deep down at the heart. It has a cool freshness to me and real depth. Lasts all day, which is amazing for something so light. Beautifully crafted. The price point is a tad extortionate, however, so there's that. Grateful for all the dupe recommendations below.

The first few times I smelled this fragrance, I was given the impression of a juicy pulpiness that is really not reflected anywhere in the notes. I noticed the woods and fresh spice as well, but felt that the pulpy notes seemed to come out in front. However, the more I smelled it, it morphed into a dry, sauna-like scent with some well-blended spice - somehow both warm and fresh at different moments. Overall, one of my favorite fragrances of all time. True to form for Le Labo, not a complete recreation of the namesake but more of a loose evocation.

Ultramodern rose: Urban, completely unisex and probably the best rose that a manly man could pull off. Rosy but not overly so, The flower is winy and spicy (cumin and prob a few more, think subtle hints of pepper and cinnamon) The base is a complete, balanced and rounded woody blend: Cedar, Guiac, ambers, and hints of Oud and musk complete the woody frame for a rosy spicy fragrance that will invite you and make you smell and resmell. All of this, without losing the typical juiciness and urban feel of le labo, Likely my most worn rose 9/10

Slightly sweet, fragrant, photorealistic pink rose in a haze of makeup-y powderiness and lightly animalic musk; evolving into something darker, woodier, and more masculine. I wish the sweet rose at the outset was the entire fra, as this does lean a bit too masculine for my liking. Still, it is a beautiful year-round rose option for a male! As for myself I crave this kind of fragrance in the late autumn season. It does smell very unique, and very pretty. Does remind me a bit of Velvet Rose and Oud by Jo Malone, but less red rosy.

It’s so interesting how things smell different to people because this smells clean to me, like clean lotioned skin. It’s kind of a dusty slightly spiced rose that’s elegant enough for a date but also works for daily wear. I don’t find the cumin to smell sweaty or food-like at all. I actually bought the Dossier dupe after smelling Rose 31 products at a hotel and now that I’ve tested both perfumes side by side it’s pretty much spot on. If Le Labo is out of your budget and you’re not opposed to dupes I highly recommend it.

i usually gravitate towards sweet scents, i always thought i wouldnt like woodier/greener scents. at the airport i was testing multiple le labo scents and fell in love with this one immediately. so much that i decided to blow my money then and there. by reading the notes & reviews i wouldve never thought id like it this much haha.. it somehow comes off as slightly sweet to me? when i sampled it it initially reminded me of red candy(?) it is such an intoxicating scent i cant stop smelling it when i have it on..

This may be the most interesting/unique scent in my collection. I was first introduced to le labo via the Fairmont Hotel. My boyfriend and I were meeting in Austin and he had arrived hours before me. When I arrived at nearly 1 am, I crawled into bed next to him and was overwhelmed by the Rose 31 scent bubble. It was incredibly sexy yet sophisticated. I loved it so much that he surprised me with a bottle the following valentines day. Although I love this scent in cool weather, in truth, I prefer it on him. :)

Woody and slightly churchy, probably from the olibanum. I definitely get the sweaty note, but I love it. To me, it’s the clean sweat of a well-groomed woman. The aroma of a clean but human babe. At church. In the woods. The rose is subtle and to me seems dried, maybe a little dusty. There is zero sweetness here, but very little darkness, either. Unobtrusive without being too much of a simple crowd pleaser. If you don’t like my rose 31, you can easily avoid it by not hovering over my neck.

A rose in a motorcycle jacket. I don’t mean that it’s got notes of leather or gasoline, but that it’s urban, slightly dishevelled, slightly unwashed, and super cool. I love rose in perfumery, but I find myself reserving my favourite roses for special occasions. Portrait of a Lady, Dusita’s Rosarine, even Heely’s Hippie Rose read to me as too formal for everyday wear. This is where Rose 31 shines. It’s just gritty enough to not smell out of place with jeans and a tshirt.

Going off a sample. The first time I smelled it, I could not get past a powdery candy smell that reminded me of Smarties, but the more I try it the more I can't get enough. It is unlike any other floral I've smelled. It has a folklore quality to me, like an enchanted rose sitting in a dusty, wood-paneled library. But is also has what I can only describe as a "warm breath" quality that makes it modern and relatively androgynous. Really love it.

This was my signature in college and i lowkey miss it, although it is probably to strongly tied to that era for me to ever go back, as it often is with past signature scents. Warm but not too feminine or "grown", and i always loved that sweat-like cumin note which added that sexy musk (maybe since it was more of a rich man-sweat note than my actual own sweat ..?). j'adore anyway. My bottle used to say "For : SUCCUBUS" lol

One of my all time favourites. It's simultaneously Clean and soapy and dirty and sexy - And I don't mean sexy in a sticky, dense, heavy way. It's sexy in a sweet, warm, musky way. It literally smells like fanny (British Fanny, not American, to be clear). It hits you in the chest. It has gravitas, it's intellectual, it's amazing in bed. It's a unique and complex scent. Not a blind buy, but one to have in the collection.

Such a wonderfully unique, warm take on a rose fragrance. I don’t even typically enjoy rose notes but I received a sample of this and it has enough spice to subdue the rose a bit. I initially was alarmed by the BO cumin smell when I sprayed it on paper, but can confirm it is much more subtle on my skin. In my opinion it’s versatile enough to wear year-round and is signature scent worthy.

Love this one so much because even though it’s a rose fragrance at its core, that cumin note is what makes it so special and unique! I love that it’s not dirty but it’s also not soapy. It’s a spicy rose that has oomph without being brash. Definitely not a blind buy, it is a must sample on skin and let it stay there to make an informed decision prior to buying 🤭

This is the closest thing I’ve found to my perfect rose. It’s so unique and modern but sooooo expensive and a bit too strong / sharp. So I was delighted to discover Aerre does an almost bang-on dupe, Wild Rose, for under $50, and it’s slightly softer and airier so I prefer it! Layered with Arkive’s Future Bloom, too, adds a more feminine aura. Love.

Very nice masculine leaning rose frag. You can pick out every note listed. I would say that the rose is subdued and equal to that of the cedar and vetiver. Mild to normal projection, maybe it just seems mild because it’s an airy type of fragrance of you know what I mean. Great longevity, 8ish hours. I just wish it was more potent to my own nose.

Oh sweet lord. This smells like the armpit of the woman you lust after. It's rose and coital sweat and I'm just getting so many images now. Rose 31 is easily the sexiest female fragrance I've encountered. Ladies if you wear this, don't ever let him know you're wearing a perfume. Let him think it's your natural odor and he will never leave you.

The only perfume I feel like this is me. Have modesty in wildness, have wildness in modesty. I have it in body lotion. Lasts long but not too strong. Slight scent especially when I roll up sleeves or right before taking shower. I love how it comes with woody-smokey scent over just a typical sweety rose. Shame it is so expensive.

A woody fragrance built around a rose core. Deep red roses set a slightly melancholic mood, like the far corner of a room filled with rustic furniture. Similar to Toy Boy, it feels approachable for men yet confident enough for women. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last as long on my skin as I’d expect for the price

Fresh spicy rose. Unisex leaning Masculin... yeah the cumin is kind of heavy. But dont really get the sweatiness in this one. I just feel confident the days i wanna wear this. I get about 6-8 hours from this. But I thing is get nose blind during the wear.

This is a perfect floral woody scent to me. The rose note smells strongest but it's immediately follows by santal, woodsy scent. The only con is poor longevity and projection. Only people sitting right next to me can faintly smell it after I apply.

This smells so cool to me - not cool as opposed to warm, but *being cool*. It also feels very urban, cosmopolitan. This is how the woman I want to be smells. She's hardworking, intelligent, understatedly elegant, sexy, and above all, super cool.

A great rose-wood combination. I think the woody notes prevent this from becoming a grandma rose perfume and keeps it unisex. Takes me back to the Savoy in London.

Wood and rose. It's awesome, especially if you are familiar with what Le Labo does as a house and don't mind the price or receives as a gift.

I always go back to this rose. It agrees with my ph, never going to BO, as others have commented. I definitely would not blind by this one.

I love this fragrance but it's not rosy enough for my liking. Sometimes I have an itch to smell roses and this does not scratch the itch

the next best le labo right after santal 33. It is truly a head turner. I got so many compliments while wearing it.
