I wanted to re-write my review. I chose to wear Tobac 28 this morning, after fasting from fragrances for 2 days. When you wear frags all day, every day like I was, you loose the ability to appreciate the great nuances. So smelling Tobac again with a two day old clean nose, it is very beautiful. I can be much shorter and precise with my rewrite. It is a very woody frag, mostly cedar and Guaiac, then some smoky java Vetiver. That's your heart or base notes. The tobacco is not an authentic tobacco note, but a vertual tobacco note. The perfumer skillfully mimics something like a sweet cuban cigar. This is what makes this special and unique in a modern Le Labo way... You have a creamy, spicy, guaiac wood accord, with cardomom and papyrus, as the herbal spiciness. It adds a slightly sweet vanilla note, and a nuance of rum in the mix. This virtual interpretation of a cuban cigar note, is very pleasant, and lasts for 30 minutes. Then it slowly fades to a more woody/ amber, Vetiver frag, that's smooth and slightly sweet. It may be the most woody Le Labo frag. It's a non offensive, mass appealing fragrance. But not everyone will think it's special enough, to warrant the price. I grew to like it more. I think it's very unique, and modern for a woody. I like the tobacco accord, interpretation; its like the piquant feature of the frag that makes it special. It's rather boyant, and light for a woody oriental. It does have some ambery richness, but could be enjoyed all year, except hot Summer days. Performance is good. Rating: 8.5/10 God bless. John 3:16

This is "The One", in a long line of tobacco fragrances I've tried over the years. While I have enjoyed these at times, (Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Parfums De Marly Herod, Les Indemodables Vanille Havane, 1800 Man Made Tobacco Spirits, Roja Parfums Enigma, etc. the list goes on and on) they are all based with a heavy dose of vanilla and sweetness. They're all, in some way shape or form, "spiced vanillas", not true tobacco fragrances. The only one that comes close to this one as a true tobacco fragrance, is Amouage Royal Tobacco, but it too is still a bit sweeter than Tabac 28 (although not cloying like the others can be). Tabac 28 opens with a smoky, charred, realistic tobacco. No vanilla, no pepper, no odd spices in the opening. It's smoke and tobacco. It is then accompanied by a realistic rum note. This opening continues for 30-45 minutes, until these notes meld with a dark woody, spicy accord (maybe oud or Amberwood, I'm not sure) that dominates the fragrance. This is bone dry. No sickly, syrupy, sweet vanilla here posing as tobacco. The rum is the only sweetness in this fragrance. Projection is moderate, so is longevity. It's not yelling across the room seeking attention, but it's not whispering either. Perfect performance. Best in genre, king of tobacco fragrances at the moment.

Darlings I have been hypnotized by this fragrance from the very first time I smelled it. No one has mentioned it, but I get a distinct metallic scent every time I sniff it on my skin. Like the grease smell from an overheated automobile motor. I don’t get rum or tobacco. Intoxicating! Definitely not a blind buy, but what I do like about it is it’s limited availability and it’s high price tag. That will keep it exclusive and out of the filthy paws of the general milieux. So difficult to find a unique fragrance that isn’t copied by run of the mill generic brands. It could easily be one’s signature scent. Unlike so much of the run of the mill fragrances, this will only suit a particular type of man (James Dean from the past, Lewis Hamilton from the present). Hopefully Le Labo doesn’t pull another bone head move and discontinue it the way they have their version of Oud.

This thing is not as famous as Santal 33, But for me it is the best offerings from Le Labo till now from my experience . I have tried 7 samples from them and it is the only which was able to make me buy a full size. Well balance of sweet and smokyness and it doesn't turn ashy on my skin.In the opening I get sweet, citrusy and cedar notes. The sweetness is really subtle backed up by the cardamom.In the dry down it is woody and slightly sweet and boozy; the guaic wood is more prominant than cedar in the dry down although I get more cedar in the opening. The tobacco is always in the background adding more depths. Performance is also great.

I enjoyed this very much and without moaning about price once again I think I couldn't get on board enough with this fragrance to justify the pricetag. I found this to be one of the bolder, more standout in the City collection, probably just due to the nature of Tobacco...really? Being all rich, dark and satisfying. Do they bear a resemblance to the city's they are based on? Is Miami Tobacco because of the strong Cuban links? or am I over thinking things? Anyway it has a lovely boozy, opening, lightly smokey feel into a deep tobacco accord, with patchouli, and gentle spices, which smells to me authentic and well judged.

This is by far the best of the City Exclusivés (despite the fact that I do not get a Miami vibe?). This is a nice Tobacco fragrance that can be worn by women (!!) and men. It is cozy and soft. It shared some vibes with Santal 33 and The Noir, and has some similarities with Tobacco Nuit by Atelier Cologne. I find it hard to find a Tobacco fragrance that is not too masculine (favorites so far are Herod PdM and REd Tobacco Mancera). However, for this price 280€/50 ml, it is honestly, not Worth it. It is not that unique... I would gladly accept it as a gift (but I know that noone will give me such an expensive gift haha).

Perfectly unisex fragrance. Stunning and unique. As a woman I love wearing it both day and night. This is a fragrance made for a warm climate and it especially shines during hot summer nights. This the best tobacco fragrance out there at the moment imo. Tabac 28 is a dry green tobacco fragrance with a bit of sweetness (from the rum maybe?) as well as some spices. The opening is different though, here you get full on tobacco - like smelling a freshly rolled cigar. Well blended and balanced fragrance. Overpriced? Sure... Worth it anyway? Absolutely!

For some reason the opening reminds me of a vitamin or supplement store have no idea why, like a weird sort of clean smell and quickly the boozy tobacco comes in and becomes darker, not really sweet at all. On drydown the tobacco becomes more subtle and smoky like a fresh cigar leaving its odor on you after somber night, not really into tobacco fragrances but absolutely love this stuff, wish it was a little stronger it lasts 3-6 hours but becomes very faint after the second or so otherwise I might’ve gotten it despite its exorbitant price tag

This!!! I looove it! My only problem is it does not fit me nor my husband. I have to spray it on my leather couch sometimes. It smells warm and natural, woody and leathery and reminds me of something from my past. It feels tradtionally masculine but whithout any of the typically overwhelming tones from most mens perfumes. It would fit both the outdoorsy cabin type of person and someone in a classy, expensive suit. It smells like pure comfort to me. Definetely one of the best blended perfumes ever.

This smells like a wooden cask in which rum is aged. A touch too raw and woody when sniffed up close, but the rum projects and makes it completely addicting and irresistible. I'm a sucker for a sweetened tobacco fragrance (this one is sweetened with rum). If you love the TF Tobacco Vanilles and the Carner D600s of the world, put this on your wishlist. Now to wait until the fall to purchase... (annoying that these city exclusives can only be bought in Aug/Sept?? Very annoying).

This smell just like I imagine å private library from the eighteenth century would smell like. Like a Henry Cavill, with glasses were sitting there in a leather chair, reading a leatherbound book. Very leathery😉 It is a warm, comfortable and clean smell. I think it is amazing, but it feels a tad to masculine for me to wear, and my husband suits better smelling fresh like the sea. But I have kept a sample just so I can smell it when I need some comfort a cold autumn night.

Oh wow this is gorgeous. I had a sample from last year and It went forgotten until now. Now that I'm revisiting it: wet tobacco with booze. More specifically an aged cognac. Upon dry down more of the smoky woods come through and the wet tobacco starts to become more dry. This is totally up my husband's alley (he doesn't know it yet). I would definitely wear this as a woman. I will give it a good wearing and report back. But so far, very good 1st impression.

I'm sorry I can't give a more detailed review, I just sampled it twice at the Miami boutique and both times I was wowed. Damn this is an amazing tobacco frag, I really dig this DNA!! It smells rich and delicious with a slight sweetness and simple complexity that envelops the hearty, dry tobacco note. Get your nose on this now! I'll try to update this when I get a sample from a friend to comment on the performance and further scrutinize the scent ー🎅

This is an incredible scent so smooth, warm, spicy, so perfect. The big brother to Jazz Club, this is less synthetic more pleasing to the nose and every element is done perfectly. So glad I got to try this out really might be my favorite Le Labo, the perfect fall and winter fragrance it has woods tobacco spices rum it's everything you'd want to smell on a cold day. Scent: 10/10 Performance: 10/10 Price: 7/10 Overall: 9/10

One of my favorites from Le Labo! It’s sexy and bold. I’d have to describe it as a rockstar’s jacket boozy, smokey, and the tobacco lingers a lot on my skin. On my buddy’s skin the rum shined and was too sweet for them. Anytime I wear it out on a night on the dance floor I get showered in compliments. It’s life is eternal if I black out on my bed and don’t shower I’ll wake up the next day at noon still stained by it!

So good! I’m not a fan of sweet fragrances at all, but this has the most perfect balance between sweet, fresh and smoky with an amazing musc. Excellent perfumery with a clear LeLabo DNA. Shame it is a limited release, will definitely buy a full bottle next year. The price is however not justified, $380 is way overpriced. If this was at normal prices and widely available, definitely signature scent worthy.

Yes this fragrance is incredibly expensive and relatively hard to find but I will always have a bottle of this in my collection. It’s a scent that I find to be so uniquely me. I love tobacco scents and this to me is the Mac Daddy of that note. It’s beautifully constructed, the smokiness of the tobacco is intoxicating and it plays so well off of the woody, spicy, boozy notes it’s counterparted against.

probably one of my top 5 favorite scents of all time, I've had my bottle since 2021 because its so expensive that I don't want to run out of it yet lol. It dries down very sweet on me and have been told it's intoxicating. dreading the day it runs out but I will be repurchasing!! its one of the very few tobacco scents I can tolerate, I hate that a lot of other tobacco scents have vanilla (personally)

It puts me right back to working in the humidor at Total Wine when I ended up the unofficial cigar guy in charge of keeping it stocked and neat. And man, I love the smell of woods and tobacco that really come through. People are saying smells like a pipe, I don't get that I get unsmoked cigar. Never been to Miami, can't speak to if it fits the vibe, but it's an addicting smell to me.

This is actually a Guaiac wood dominant fragrance. I have a few fragrances that use real distilled tobacco, but this is a virtual tobacco smell. Trying to resemble a Cuban cigar. It does it well. It is very smooth and unique. I read an article tonight about what Guaiac wood smells like. It said, it's like birch tar, asphalt, rubbery, smoky, like burning leaves.

Outstanding fragrance! I haven't had any performance issues with this one as mentioned by others, but the scent evolves on me. It's a dry semi sweet tobacco rum fragrance, definitely reminds we of Havana. I also own Jazz Club and can say these two do not smell a like, they have some minor similarities but are in no way the same.

I was expecting something brash and Tom Ford-esque, given the name and the fact that it is a Miami exclusive. In reality, Tabac 28 is nuanced, delicately sweet, lightly boozy, smoky, maybe a little bit ashy. I get more guaiac wood than tobacco really. Really beautiful. 4/5

Not cigarette smoke but a velvety, refined tobacco smoke wafting from a pipe. That paired with the boozy rum note makes this scent intoxicating. It gives me butterflies and makes my ***** clench. I feel feral. The Daddy scent to end all Daddy scents.

Opened up strong and beautiful pipe tobacco plus boozy scent that didn’t last too long. Followed promptly by woody scent. Overall a very good tobacco scent. Can be a bit overwhelming for those who might not be into tobacco note.

I absolutely fell in love with this fragrance as the perfect fall scent (think an outdoor wedding or a stroll through a Vermont town.) Then I saw the prices for 50ml and higher and decided I would never own the bottle.

@siomes Disagree. Tabac is a lot drier and masculine. Jazz Club smells a lot sweeter than this, it smells like something Bath&Body Works would release at Christmas or something and then be on clearance shortly after.

Tobacco + wood. Really quite nice. I had avoided Le Labo after my experience with Santal 33, but this changed my mind about the house. Now I'm interested in exploring other fragrances from them.

I have always been in love with tobacco fragrances. I have close to a dozen in all. This one is easily in the top 3 but its priced like angel tears. $436 for a 100 ml refill is abusive

So many different experiences of this fragrance are presented in the reviews. Is it different batches? Is it different noses? Some say its sweet, some say its tobacco-y, some say the tobacco is no where to be found. This is one of those that really requires a sampling and a full on skin wearing before reviewing and/or hating/loving this frag My experience: whoa! the first spray out of the tester smacks you with dark, smoky, resinous tobacco. Yes, I know other reviewers have commented on how it is other notes imitating tobacco but it is pretty spot on. I was transported to the inside of a 100 year old cigar shop and standing next to me was the cigar maker smoking a cigar. It’s a lot. It’s strong. It’s not for the faint of heart. It’s not for the daytime and not for spring/summer. It’s not feminine or unisex in any way shape or form. It is masculine to the bone. I did not get “sweet” anywhere in the life of this (again, I question whether different batches are presenting differently to different people). It is dry, spicy, smoky, woody, but definitely not sweet. I have Herod from Parfums de Marley and don't understand some of the comparisons, it is a sweet syrupy tobacco rum thing compared to this. They are not even in the same ballpark. I didn’t get ANY hint of rum from this. Even 8 hours later it is still dark and smoky on my skin. One thing I am glad about is that this is one of the first Le Labo frags that hasn’t dried down to that “generic LeLabo” scent. You know, where they all become this amalgamation of something close to Santal 33. Yeah, I know you know. The kicker with this one is that as much as I love it’s strength and in your face tobacco note... I don’t know how often I’d want to smell like that. Like you just walked out of a cigar bar. A classy one, but still a cigar bar. For the price, it’s hard to go for the full bottle for me. I’d rather buy a couple of testers, that should last me the 1-2 times a year when I’d want to wear this.

Tabac 28 is, as expected, a boozy, smoky tobacco scent. It is quite familiar - similar to other scents; it is nothing groundbreaking and quite expensive. However, it is beautifully-rendered, good-quality and perfectly evocative of its theme. I find it deeply pleasant and an olfactory artwork, but I wouldn't wear it often. T28 is boozy from initial spray, with slightly sweet rum dominating the opening. The tobacco follows closely, smoky and ashy. It is not the hay-like, blond tobacco of the plant. Peppery spice complements the smoky-booziness nicely. Woody notes follow as it develops, complementing the smoky rum nicely. It becomes very dry and slightly earthy, fading to a musky skin scent. The woody-tobacco-booze accord that forms the backbone of this scent remains until final fade. There is a leather effect during the later stages. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting, lingering hours after a shower. It feels like an autumnal evening scent to me. A unisex boozy-ashy-woody scent with a nice leather touch to the tail end, this is a really good example of its genre, evocative of a smoky bar, complete with wooden furniture and leather stools. Jazz Club wishes it was this. 4/5.

A simplistic tobacco scent with powdery, woody similarities to Santal 33. The boozy note is very introverted which prevents it from being cloying (good thing for me). It literally smells like an empty bag of tobacco, finally Le Labo does justice to a name ;) It also reminds me of Sultan de Muscat by Rituals. If you take out the overdose of nutmeg in this fragrance and add warm and powdery sweet qualities of Santal 33 you'll come 95% close to Miami 28. Do note: it's by far not a projection beast like S33 is, at least not on my skin. Performance: with 3 royale sprays on the back of my hand it stays close to the skin and doesn't project much. And that's within just one hour after spraying. It's a cosy scent. On a blotter the tobacco comes off better than on my skin. Perhaps it works better in cold weather? Originality: scent wise in my opinion one of the better LL City Exclusives although not worth the ridiculous retail price. Gaiac 10 is by far my absolute favourite and to this day my cold-weather signature scent. All in all a very nice composition, but the performance is a dealbreaker for me, so final verdict: meh, pass.

One of my fav in the city exclusive collection of Le lab. it's dark, woody and slightly warm. A hint of sweetness but not obvious. Reminds me of temples and burning incenses. Not overpowering smoky. Not ideal for humid hot summer daytime but for breezy summer night. Very linear. It smells a bit softer after drying down. to my nose it is a strong version of Santa 33 of Le lab. Also ideal for daily use. May be a confidence boost for a gentleman in some occupations but definitely not for a young guy. The downside is the price; ridiculously expensive. Especially its uniqueness (purely woody/oud) does not make it more wearable. Definitely not the go-to scent when I can't decide which to wear in a normal day. For collection, a small bottle is way enough. Side note: perhaps it's very concentrated. The pump of the sample bottle became very hard to push after one year. Another four samples came in the same package/purchase also have similar problem.

Not to say anything out of line but if I met a man smelling of this I would call him daddy in an instant. There, I said it. This one is way better than a lot of other tobacco forward fragrances I have smelled. This is not harsh nor strong, just a comforting hug from someone in a deep leather chair. The opening is very boozy, it says rum but I get more of a whiskey note. It quickly gets very ashy in a way, but fortunately not like a sour ashtray! It is sweeter than that, and the wood notes shines through, almost painting a picture of a professor sitting in front of a large wooden desk with a glass of quality liquor and smoking a cigar whilst browsing his leather bound books from the large bookshelf behind him. After six hours this is a sweet skin scent. Still woody and smoky, but more subtle. Still, it is very masculine, and the longevity and sillage is great. It is just not something I perosnally could wear as a girl in my twenties.

I was curious about this, and I would say it is strangely reminiscent of Myrrhe 55, but also not at all. Tabac 28 opens with a strong herbal and alcoholic note, dare I say something minty and fresh. Over time, it becomes really 'masculine'; there is little to no sweetness to temper the intense herbal and smoky qualities of the resins and tobacco. This is not a bad thing, it is just not my style. Over time it smells like a leather fragrance on my skin, and I wish I had more of a sampler to try this during the colder season. I could see this being the ultimate comfort scent. Now, why did I mention Myrrhe 55 at first? Because they both seem to end the same way on my skin: a slightly aromatic je ne sais quoi, probably the residual of the base ingredients that Le Labo uses for most of their fragrances. It is beautiful, but does not speak volumes if multiple Le Labo fragrances end this way!

I received this in the sample set that I purchased. I don't believe I'd have ever bought it otherwise, but I'm glad this happened. When I first sprayed it, I was not at all impressed. To my nose, it smelled like a half smoked cigarette. Really. It was pretty bad. I thought who in the world would want to smell like a half smoked cigarette?! I almost jumped in the shower right away to get it off my chest, where I foolishly and uninhibitedly sprayed a full spray. I thought about how much I paid for the samples alone and decided to fight through it. I'm glad I did for two reasons - #1, I have showered now and I am still getting whiffs of this. #2, as it would turn out, this grew on me and I actually really enjoy it. I still think it smells like actual burning tobacco, but it works. I am really enjoying this fragrance now. I'm not sure I $500 worth of enjoy it, but I enjoy it.

Lemme start with – this is BEAUTIFUL. This is the king of tobacco scents. It ruled my life for a while and I worshipped wholeheartedly. Sexy, smoky, all-intriguing, deep, complex - this is a true unisex (albeit not for the light 'n clean folks). I have gone through a full bottle of this *BUT* all too quickly. The life and sillage is where it falls flat - the projection last an hour or two, and by a few past it is but a ghost of the miraculous thing it once was. This was devastating to learn because of my degree of passion for it. It is far too expensive to warrant 12 sprays a day. This aspect made me so resentful I've resisted buying another bottle and have since ventured into other tobaccos.

Le Labo is one of my favorite brands but I've got to admit, this one was a let down. It smells good no doubt. But it seems transparent to the point it feels diluted. I couldn't even smell the tobacco straight away. The best way I can describe the tobacco (what I can actually smell) is as if the perfumer Frank Voelkl, created a tobacco accord with other ingredients. Performance is also a problem. I normally don't factor price into my review but if I did, this would get a 1/10 in the price category. For the prices of a city exclusive, I would buy many other niche tobacco fragrances before this. Smell 5.5/10 Performance 4/10

Completely agree with @monamushroom's review. Yes to get out of pocket, but it smells like someone took a shot of whiskey before biting your neck behind a bookshelf in a Vegas jazz speakeasy while you wear their leather jacket. As a 20something woman with a certain presentation, it doesn't really fit me - I work best in the puffy frilliness of Killian's Angels Share (layered a spray of that over this after 20 mins and it worked well) and the bright sweetness of Le Labo Cedrat 37. I feel like the butches would love this. Anyone looking for strong, deep, complex would!

Absolute rockstar. I am going to say this and please dont kill me: Worth the retail price. This is a beautiful dark leafy tobacco, with woods and rum in the back. This is a grown up badass brother of The Noir 29. The Noir 29 has this boozy leafy feel, this just goes even further, even bigger. This could be a Tom Ford and i would believe it right away. I dont drink and smoke, but this makes me understand why some people do.

Liking this so far! I usually like tobacco in a fragrance when it's a supporting role, but seldom find tobacco front and centre that suits my preference. May be the cardamon blend, but this has a nice freshness to it, whilst giving the aura of sophistication. Grown-up, but playful enough that I think a lot of people could enjoy this. May be my favourite from the city exclusives range.

dark rum tobacco spiciness with a sweet interior. this really nice but it is a common scent profile so im sure there are cheaper options. pretty masculine and mature, i love this scent but i wouldn’t wear it as a young woman. le labo stores will have this in the back fridge to try even if u aren’t in miami

I like it. Very dry tobacco that sits close to my skin. Reminds me of Aramis Tobacco Reserve. Slightly different, but on me both are very dry, nether push out too strongly, and they're of comparable quality. Aramis is the better option to me, for the price and quantity.

For the price point of this fragrance it's reall nothing special, and cannot even come close to Parfums de Marly " Herod " which is a masterpiece! Sorry, but this frag was a huge disappointment!!!!!!!!! My 3 P's Price: 2/10 Projection: 6/10 Performance: 6/10

It's a nice tobacco scent, I do get a little weird latex (?) note that I don't love though. Its longevity is okay, imo better than a lot of other le labo scents it's just super expensive and I'm not sure if it's justifiable.
