Violette 30

Where to start. I was recommended this and so picked up a sample. I'm going through a purple floral phase right now and this immediately appealed to me. I just kept reaching for it, every day, missing the scent when it wasn't on me. But I'm trying to fund my wedding right now, so i knew i probably shouldn't buy this one. It's so overpriced for a skin scent. I heard that Glossier You was a great dupe, so I went out and bought that instead. I love it, but its not the same. Every day I wore Glossier I was just thinking... "she's not Violette 30" lmao. So I bought Violette 30. After already buying Glossier You. Because I love this perfume so damn much. Papery, academic, clean, dry, and feminine. It's a skin scent but nowhere near as intimate as Glossier You. The aldehydes and incense in this fragrance keep it bright and dry, rather than the 'damp' skin scent that Glossier has. It is an absolutely perfect office fragrance, or an everyday city fragrance. When I smell this I think of chilly days walking around in Cambridge, or studying in a dark library. It's very neutral, refined, sober, quiet. The violet and rose pops through and keeps it leaning 'feminine', which is great, because I find these academic scents are always perfectly unisex and it was getting a little boring. It IS overpriced, and my god I feel like an idiot for buying Glossier first, because there's no reason this fragrance should be so expensive for its sillage. I've just not been able to find anything like it. If you're not super into this fragrance profile, then the Glossier version will be a perfectly good substitute. But if you're big on purple florals, the distinction will be too much. This could also just be my skin chemistry, but while the sillage on Violette 30 isn't great by any means, its nowhere near as bad as Glossier You.

I feel like a kid who was given their dream toy only to have it immediately taken away. This is one of the most beautiful, most “this is so me” perfumes I’ve ever smelled, but the longevity and silage are so poor it makes me want to cry. It strongly reminds me of three of my absolute favourite perfumes: Diptyque Fleur de Peau, Room 1015 Sonic Flower and Glossier You - as if the very best essence of all three had been blended together, but with that unmistakable Le Labo DNA. I disagree with the comparisons to Santal 33, though I can understand where they are coming from: it’s the brand’s signature DNA that creates the association. The opening is a powdery violet touched by a hint of white tea floating over an ethereal, creamy, woody aldehydic background. The cedar is beautifully balanced and does not overpower this delicate creation - rather, it acts as a canvas for it. As it settles into my skin, I notice hints of guaiac wood and amber, fortunately so faint that they don’t bother me at all - in fact I even find them pleasant in this composition despite my aversion to both. The drydown remains powdery and woody, softened by delicate aldehydic freshness. And now for the tragic part of my unfortunate love story: the longevity and sillage. If I had to wear only one perfume for the rest of my life, I would be ready to abandon my holy trinity (Fleur de Peau, You and Sonic Flower) for this work of art... if only it had more presence and lasting power. On my skin, it vanishes within an hour and quickly becomes an intimate skin scent, to the point where someone would need to bury their nose into my neck to smell it. Such a tragically beautiful creation...

"this is unoriginal,," "this smells like Santal," "this is too much and nothing at all." Sure it's not the most unique but I will say this...I sit firmly in the camp who loves 80% of how most of their perfumes smell, but the 20% deters me from going all in. I've owned pretty much all of their heavy hitters, and with the exception of Bergamote 22 and Another 13, there are facets of each that have turned me off of them over time. Violette 30 is the house's offering for people like me. People who know their DNA, and may love a scent like Santal "if it weren't for the cucumber/pickle note." I think they nailed it. Violette on the other hand 30 seems to blend what I'd consider my favourite parts of each of these and remove the notes that seem to be universally criticized by lovers and haters alike. It will probably be considered a C tier frag because some will think it suffers from an identity crisis, and that is honestly fine by me. But from the site's description I'd say it has done exactly what it's set out to do. The house in a bottle. It might not turn heads but it's a true all season, easy wear that just feels cozy, earthy, perfectly unisex and modern in all the right ways. A masterful blend of white florals, woods, soft spice and (to my delight) incense. SIDE NOTE: on clothes I can smell this from 6-7 feet away and it lasts this way for a few hours, then more intimate for the maybe another 3-4hrs.

If there was a scent that perfectly encapsulated the scent of nostalgic elegance with a modern depth of mystery, Violette 30 would be that scent. Built around white violets, white tea, green florals and musky woods, it’s an ode to complexity in minimalism a study of contrasts and an appreciation of raw beauty. To me this is a vintage boudoir, timeless and classy but a little bit naughty. It goes without saying that Le Labo know what they’re doing in crafting the perfect skin scent, with Santal 33, Another 13, Ambrette 9 and various others, but you can definitely add Violette 30 to that list. It balances the softness, warmth and powdery nature of the perfumes within this space, but with a crystalline clarity to it also. Complex and layered, textured and evolving. Considering that a very prominent trend for 2026 is the appreciation of nostalgia and new age modern classics, I feel this is a really interesting and raw take on it, without being old-fashioned. It carries the same raw purity within its DNA that all Le Labo scents have which I find oddly comforting, to have a little edge to them. On me, the longevity is actually exceptional, 8 or so hours on my skin before I noticed any type of fade and when on my clothes, infinite.

This is absolutely beautiful. I love what has been achieved here with the mix of blond woods, violet and rose, creamy ambrette, a touch of tea, and a warm, musky, powdery base. I want to say something about this idea of perfumes being derivative. I don't see it like that. I see it that the perfumer has not yet got the structure out of their system and believe it can be morphed, perfected, altered, further explored. That only shows the sheer enormousness of perfume, and how facets can beguile and intrigue the creator for years at a time. You don't flame Picasso for using similar motifs or lines in his works. Whether this is by Frank Voelkl or someone else, the fact this style has more to give only shows that they're still in its thrall, and I am too. This is my favourite of those mentioned, because it's not too musky, fruity or sharp. It's elegant, genderless and warm. Friendly. Sexy. Intimate yet powerful. The floral aspects are more pronounced here. It feels modern and sensual. On me, it lasts well into the next day, so I don't agree with the short longevity comments.

This scent is what I wanted from the original Glossier You. It’s very orris-heavy on me, which is great if you love orris (I do). It also layers really well with Me by Snif, another orris-forward scent. Since Violette 30 is so faint, I end up layering it with Me, and Me has to pick up the slack in terms of longevity, which is disappointing. I know there’s a whole discourse in the fragrance community about how not every scent needs to last forever, and I get that. But I also don’t want to have to shower myself in an already overpriced fragrance just for it to disappear in 20 minutes. Another 13 and Lys 41 both last forever on me, as they’re some of my Le Labo favorites, so I can’t help but wonder if the softness here was a deliberate choice. Was this an artistic decision? Ingredient restrictions? Or a subtle way to encourage buying bigger bottles?

If you have smelled enough Le Labo scents, then Violette 30 will be no surprise to you. It has the same woody-musky scent profile as many others already in the line. It has shades of Vetiver 46, Rose 31, Eucalyptus 20, Gaiac 10... all woody, musky, slightly incense-y... Not quite as cut-and-paste as the fragrances from Aesop, for example, but they definitely share a DNA. BUT, I think this is a lovely, interesting take on the Le Labo DNA. Soft purple ionones and rose with a wee bit of aldehydes make for a lovely, unexpected opening. It's not at all old fashioned and Chanel-esque though; Violette 30 is unmistakably raw-edged and dark. And I am loving the very salty, musky, cumin-incense-gaiac (slightly bacon-y?) heart notes. Though unisex, this is not a feminine leaning fragrance by any stretch of the imagination. I really like it!

This one is good. It leans unisex in my eyes maybe a little more feminine, however as a man ill wear this all day long. The violet note is done to perfection, it just smells so damn good. I bought a 50 ml bottle. I tried 4 or 5 fragrances yesterday, this one on my hand. Anyhow I smelled my hand like 5 hours after applying, I was mesmerized! However I forgot what it was I applied there due to trying so many. Then it clicked, it was the violette 30. Thats where the magic is, sure the opening is beautiful, thats what sold me on a full bottle in the first place. Damn though, the drydown is just too fire. Sits really close to the skin, not sure on projection because I haven't given it a proper wear...Who cares! All I care about is if I can smell this, I LOVE THIS!

beautiful imaginary purple floral with an ozonic musk that is much more palatable to me than another 13, which smells acrid and vile to my nose. the drydown becomes a bit more powdery like one would expect from violet, but it still maintains its ozonic musk base and the cedar becomes gently apparent. smells like if diptyque fleur de peau (eau de toilette version only) had staying power cedar from gaiac 10 + violet from santal 33 + musk from another 13 = violette 30

ANOTHER 13, GAIAC 10, THÉ MATCHA 26, THÉ NOIR 29, SANTAL 33 It smells like a blend of about half the scents mentioned above, with subtle hints of violet, cedar, gaiac wood, and incense. One spray lasts over six hours on my skin and about twelve hours on clothes. With two or more sprays, it stays around for roughly twelve hours on skin and pretty much all day on clothes. Overall, the fragrance comes across as dry and masculine.

Le labo has a signature dna that I can immediately pick up on no matter the scent... I appreciate that ,everything here works and is blended to perfection. This puts me in such a tranquil mood. It is very close to gloss you but also sonicflower but blended so well that it looses the sharpness to me the others carry, and with that le labo dna it’s a perfect skin scent

Reminds me of a magical scented purple plastic toy, but natural, somehow. Skin, morphing into magical toy, morphing into waxy lipstick, morphing into little purple fairy creatures prancing around in a circle. Sure, it’s kind of similar to glossier you and other le labo. But the magical purple fae imagery feels unique to Violette 30.

I like this but the longevity is so minuscule, it is a bit disappointing. I wonder if this is a batch of perfume where time is on its side. Since it is new, the bottles need time to develop (hopefully not too long). But it seriously smells like a lovely combination of le labo's santal and glossier you perfume

To my nose Violette30 starts off with a whisper of Santal 33 without the pickle juice (thank you 🙏). The opening is musky with a gentle oud and then dries down to a slightly creamy cedar with a minimally sweetened violet flower. A minimalist scent that is elegantly modern, versatile and addictive.

I thought I would never get into Le Labo but I did because of this scent! Perfect interpretation of effortless chic and quiet luxury! If strong projection is a must then this is not for you. It sits closer to the skins but super addicting! I’m in love with it!

this is literally glossier you. like exactly. maybe even a bit more heavy on the pencil shaving smell too. which i actually love. lasts longer than glossier you but is triple the price and to my nose at least they are so similar it is redundant to own both

It’s a beautiful scent and feels like the baby of Glossier You and Santal 33. The performance is poor - I did 5 sprays at the store and two hours later you could barely smell it on the skin.

Tried it on skin and loved it immediately. Tried on a tester strip, put it on a book. Forgot about it for two weeks. I found it again and it still smells of Violette 30. I'm in love.

Violette 30 is an ode to other fragrances from the catalogue of Le Labo’s greatest hits, while also nurturing something fresh. And I mean fresh literally. Somewhat an amalgamation of Le Labo signatures, Violette 30 revisits the nuances of Santal 33 and the subtlety of Another 13. What reads as pickle in Santal 33 is coolly watered down to cucumber in Violette 30. Not unlike Another 13’s ghost of a perfume, Violette 30 is a fleetingly light scent that also leaves your nostrils chasing it. More noticeably, though, it comes from the same garden as Iris 39. Both fragrances are fluent in floral, purpled images, and are capable of inspiring fevered admiration and purple prose. If Le Labo’s masterpiece, Iris 39, is a moody meditation with a gothic twist, then Violette 30 is the antidote. Iris 39 is a refined-but-dirty scent that conjures potent images of strolling (or, rather, being dragged) through a moody garden in the English countryside under threatening grey skies. It’s an earthy, aggressive, water-logged floral beast of a perfume with its own notes of violet, iris, and patchouli. Violette 30, meanwhile, has all the violet but none of the violence. It’s the aftermath of the storm: a skin scent. Florals for spring, we know, aren’t groundbreaking. But they are timeless. Envision that same English garden. Except now it’s a tranquil, placid Sunday. Because the boldest thing about Le Labo’s newest creation isn't that its scent engineers steered away from their recent woody-musk releases to instead embrace understated delicacy; it's that those same engineers nose-blindly overlooked moral copyright as a mere suggestion rather than a boundary while, essentially, creating a dupe of Glossier You - at double the price point. Give them some credit, though: Violette 30 is Glossier You filtered through Le Labo’s authorial DNA. You can tell this came from the Le Labo laboratory and, for die-hard fans, that might just be the point - and enough justification for a purchase.

What I immediately thought of when I sprayed this on my skin was Glossier You. And now that I look, it’s the first scent that pops up as ‘smells like’ on fragrantica. So, other people must smell the similarity too. Prior to spraying on my skin, I tested it on paper, and I was happily surprised by this fragrance. I have some violet essential oil that I like but not many if any violet perfumes that I enjoy. So, when I tested this on paper at Nordstrom, I was not expecting to like it. But off all the Le Labo scents I tried, this is the one I walked out of the store with. And now, having looked up the scents, I understand more why I enjoy it. “Top notes are Violet, Aldehydes, White Tea and Rose; middle notes are Incense, Cumin and Saffron; base notes are Cedar, Guaiac Wood, Amber and Patchouli” I love guaiac wood, incense, amber, and saffron. I apparently also like white tea scents, as this is the second one in one day that I tested on my skin and liked. I find cedar hit or miss. I love the scent of my Lane cedar chest, and my cedar drawer squares, but I haven’t found many unisex or feminine cedar fragrances.

as a Le Labo connoisseur (please reference my username) I'll be the judge of this one ... to simplify, the opening is in the same realm as OG Glossier You, and the dry down is nearly Identical to Le Labo's grooming line scent, if you're familiar with their grooming line in the dark brown glass packaging. There is a phase in between glossier you and the Le Labo grooming line scent where it features Leather and clean musk, I wish this part stayed around forever!!! It's sexy asf Brought my sample home and when comparing side by side (to my nose) there are some similarities with Violette 30, Byredo Mojave Ghost, and Byredo Desert Dawn. They are for sure cousins, or cousins who aren't really related but they look alike and their moms are best friends. Of the 3 I think I still prefer Desert Dawn for this scent profile, but happy to continue testing this one out and update my review if things change. If that clean Leather/Musk phase stayed for the entire duration It would be a certified banger.

This perfume is like the little cousin of Glossier's You and Room 1015's Sonic Flower. While Glossier You smells like Ambroxan overload and Sonic Flower is Orris-laden, Violette 30 is a toned-down version of the two. If you are an Iris- or Violet-avoider, then this perfume is a great gateway to getting into this scent profile. I consider it a safe and appealing scent, and it's great for layering! I actually layer this with Le Labo's Ambrette 9, so the Pear note in Ambrette 9 really gives this a nice fresh and fruity veneer. Try this layering combo - thank me later! Overall, this is a sheer and delicate Violet/Iris fragrance rounded out with a nicely soft Guaiac and Cedar Woods. I hardly get the Cumin listed (whew! thank goodness)! And I don't get any Incense smoke, though I do feel that the Incense note is there to provide a bit of body to the Violet and Woods so that it's not too flat. But again, try layering this with Ambrette 9 (or even Santal 33) and it's delightful!

If you’re looking into Violette 30 and wondering how it can be rated similar to Santal 33, Glossier You, Fleur de Peau, and Sonic Flower, I believe it’s about 40% similar to each. Violette 30 has a woody opening that resembles Santal 33– the same type of woodiness. The dry down becomes powdery, resembling the family of Fleur de Peau, Glossier You, and Sonic Flower. But instead of iris, it is violet. Not a loud violet by any means, but a very subtle one. Do I think violet is the star of the show in Violette 30? Not really. It has a very woody opening and very powdery dry down, but it never feels very violet forward. The violet is still detectable but probably won’t be to anyone but the person wearing it. I do like this fragrance, but I don’t love it, especially not at Le Labo’s price point it doesn’t feel special enough to move me. But it is a very nice, safe, inoffensive, woody powdery fragrance that could be an easy reach to wear.

My first test of this new release from Le Labo today and it's disappointing. Not "Very" disappointing because this fragrance is not bold enough to be *very* anything. It's just pretty, mid and gone-in-a-flash. I'm a big Le Labo fan generally but this is a missed opportunity IMO (Their last release Eucalyptus 20 was surprising and has become a regular go-to for me). Violette 30 doesn't really remind me of Santal 33 as it does others, but it does have the LL DNA for sure. Just in a very watered down sort of way. To be completely fair, florals aren't really my thing but I do like violet leaf as a rule and I also love incense, cumin, saffron, cedar and patchouli. There's just not enough of anything to get excited about here. I gave it a few hours and then oversprayed with Oud 27 and now feel much happier.

I really wish the Violet lasted longer, it's mostly just a dry, Woody cedar skin scent for the most part and the typical Le Labo DNA in the dry down. So it's basically just like a raunchy musk/skin scent with a hint of violet.The longevity of the cedar and woody/patchouli is quite good but the top notes disappear as soon as it's sprayed! It smells a tiny bit like Fleur de Peau but FDP is far more squeaky clean with the Diptyque DNA definitely, and it's drier and woodier than Glossier You. Not full bottle worthy if you already own several Le Labo fragrances imo. It's still a sexy fragrance though and would smell absolutely wonderful on a man. @alliesmellzbigtime

I’ll probably layer it with Santal for a slightly more serious, sharper outcome. I honestly don’t understand the comments saying it doesn’t last. After just one spray on my coat, it stayed for days. It reminds me a lot of Another 13, which I also own. They’re very, very similar. I really don’t get how anyone compares this more to Santal. Santal is fresher and greener, while this one leans more sweet and aldehydic. But in a gentle, creamy, sexy way. I’m definitely buying this and will layer it with Santal to give it a bit more edge.

I was so curious about this one. To me it is a straight up iris and musk. It's similar to Glossier You (less 3 times more expensive) and Fleur de peau, which are both wonderful. However, to my nose this is a very light scent, I sprayed twice on my wrist and couldn't feel anything after 5 minutes so I sprayed again. I think it's only slightly stronger than Ambrette 9, which could have its audience as well. I will have to test it again, but at the new prices, this is nothing I would consider as my priority.

I sampled this today and really liked it. Beautiful composition. It reminds me a lot of Santal 33 but with violet, woody, and powdery notes. It’s almost a flanker of it, in my opinion, but the Sales Associate said it’s related to Matcha. I might pick up a larger bottle of Violette as I ran out of Santal 33 and haven’t replenished. It is that similar! I have the feeling this fragrance needs quite a few sprays as it’s soft and more subtle. It’s definitely worth checking out.

A lot is clearly borrowed from their hit Santal 33, only this one is softer and more delicate. If you’re familiar with the original, it’s quite hard to perceive the violet as a truly independent, distinctive fragrance. Overall, I liked it - it’s a good everyday, base perfume (the aldehydes are beautiful!), but it’s a bit disappointing to see the brand moving toward variations of its most popular profiles. I always expect something more unique from them

I’m really sad this isn’t what I hoped for at all. I was expecting a beautiful musky tea skin scent with powdery florals. But instead it’s more of a creamy Woody scent. I don’t smell the tea at all, and hardly any florals except violet. It’s along the lines of Glossier You Doux, Parisian Musc by Matiere Premiere, or even smells like the base DNA of the matcha 26. I had such high hopes :(

Musky-ambrette... and I found it strikingly similar to a diluted version of Meant to be Seen Nishane. A soft violet and a big-molecule focused woody-musky-clean powder scent in the YSBB vibes. It's nice, but not unique anymore, and next to the perfume I mentioned which has 4-5 times the longevity, it becomes redundant. Tag(s): soft musk, cocooning, powdery, clean, woody, ysbb

Glossier You, but make it Le Labo. Definitely smell the woody airyness that's typical of the Le Labo DNA but I think it's a less peppery version of Glossier You with not much justifying the expensive price tag or something to differentiate it and makes me go Wow. It's a lovely scent though, non-offensive and pretty. Reminiscent of Santal 33 for sure.

I blind bought this when I got a 20% off code from a website, it doesn't have the staying power of Thé Noir or Santal 33, but it does last a good few hours - enough time to take it until you go for your evening scent or another spritz. It's a lovely, inoffensive, daytime floral with Santal 33 DNA, and none of the powdery Parma Violet residue.

The same designer for this also made Glossier You, and I can definitely see the similarities here. It’s a bit softer and well composed when compared to each other. I honestly feel like if you love that profile , this might be an approachable le labo for you. It’s a soft approachable musk with slight pepper

Got a sample of this as a gift. Opening reminds me of santal 33 but far less brash and more floral. Dry down I get a wood chip note, somewhere between s33 and another 13 but lighter with more violet and iris. Less powdery and more unisex than Iris 39 to my nose. Very quiet and paper-like.

Soft cozy musty goodness! I really only wear skin scents so no complaints about the subtlety. I see a lot of comparisons to Glossier You but this one is much more soft and warm to me, none of the sharp peppery pencil shavings - I would compare it more to You Doux.

I do like the scent a lot but it’s a whisper of a skin scent so I wouldn’t spend the money on something I can’t smell unless my nose is against my skin. It does remind me of Glossier You and perfumes with a similar profile, except this is the weakest of them all.

This smells like a Glossier You x Santal 33 hybrid. I have no problem spending on fragrance, but this doesn’t stand out enough to justify full price when there are plenty of similar options. That said, catch me in a good deal and all bets are off—I’m only human.

Nice, fresh and flowery scent, I feel like many people would like it. But as other comments said already, projection is very weak especially considering the high price point.

Another good take on the Le Labo DNA, a little basic for me and not my type, but it's still a good lineny smokey vibe. Its like a smoky version of lazy sunday morning by MM.

Soft and gentle violet scent at first, gradually revealing more woody side as time goes by. An intimate scent for sure, and it will give a tender yet steady impression.

Lovely, but I'm sorry to say, extremely light. Almost like a diluted version of Violet Kew by Le Jardin Retrouve. Could have more power imo.

Think Glossier You, but as a classy, rich mom. Beautifully powdery and elegant, though ultimately a bit too soft for my personal taste.

I spray this whenever I am in my office cubicle and it's so fab and clean. She creeps up on you and then arrives in full force.

Pretty soft violet opening then dries down similar to the matcha. Perfectly unisex.
