Hazelnut L'Hun

I’m not saying anything new, but this truly smells almost exactly like “By the Fireplace” upon first spritz. This one is comparatively sweeter and lacks the overt smoky, wood-charred note. I love both perfumes, but I feel like the lack of smoke makes Hazelnut L’Hun a bit more wearable for all fall and winter occasions. I would save “By the Fireplace” for evening, personally. When first sprayed on me, it starts with a warm, snuggly, spicy, woody, comforting scent, very strong but not overpowering. I don’t smell the chocolate or vanilla much initially. After about half an hour, it mellows and reveals more of the cacao and vanilla notes in the background while still having a woody and spicy overtone. Smells like drinking hot dark chocolate topped with whip cream around a campfire (minus the smoke). I’ve had this on for over 12 hours, and while the sillage and spicy woodiness has definitely gone down, I can still smell the sweet vanilla. I don’t personally smell any florals. Love this scent. I was considering refilling my “By the Fireplace” since it’s my fall and winter signature, but then I stumbled upon this one. The benefit of Hazelnut L’Hun is that its a 30 mL eau de parfum for $25 while Maison Margiela is $30 for a travel size/10 mL eau de toilette.

For the people saying that Hazelnut L'Hun is the same scent as Chocolat Hazelnut by Le Monde Gourmand, noooooo theyyyy arre noootttttttt!!!!!! They are both made by Le Monde Gourmand though. Hazelnut L'Hun and Chocolat Hazelnut actually smell very different! Please stop telling other readers that those 2 are the same if you're not sure! I messaged the brand. I do that all the time with perfumes from the Tru Fragrance brand too with the perfumes I buy from Marshall's and TJ Maxx. If you don't know, just send the brand a message! (Chocolat Hazelnut's notes can be found on the Parfumo app. These are the fragrance notes for Chocolat Hazelnut: cashmere wood, cocoa bean, coconut milk, & spices. This one is actually very unisex and kinda reminds me of Milk by Commodity with little bits of chocolate covered hazelnuts.) Hazelnut L'Hun smells like sweet and lightly spiced gingerbread cookies with vanilla icing and just a FEW chocolate chips and a FEW pieces of chopped hazelnuts for decorating the gingerbread people cookies! I love that the ginger isn't overly spicy or sharp and I really appreciatethat! (This one is sweeter and more rounded than Chocolat Hazelnut too!)

(Review for "Chocolat Hazelnut")... Holy shinola... I picked this up while in "Marshalls" this weekend on a get-away with the family. Was checking out all the unboxed no-name brand frags they have on the shelf...you know...pick up the bottle, spray a spray or two into the cap, sniff. Out of all the frags I smelled only two wowed me..."Chocolat Hazelnut" and "Eclipse". Of course...being a gourmandie...I took home "Chocolat Hazelnut". This fragrance is soooooo creamy...a sweet vanilla with a hint of chocolate. I don't get any hazelnut from it, but it is the sweetest vanilla fragrance that I've found for sale at Marshalls THAT ACTUALLY LASTS A LONG TIME!! That is the greatest thing about this fragrance, it lasts the same as a regular fragrance! I mean, you spray it on...it smells great and leaves a nice trail behind you and a scent bubble around you....AND...it lasts 4-5 hours! For $14 you can't beat that!! You can bet your bottom dollar my tail is gonna be back in my local "Marshalls" and "TJ Maxx" this week looking for another bottle!

At first spray this is very floral with a warm undertone. As it settles it becomes a daytime smoked vanilla with a nutty flavor. I don’t smell any chocolate or cacao in here at all. I have the Marshmallow Fireside candle from BBW as well as Fireside Flurries and this smells very similar in the toasted marshmallow note. However MF is more smokey and FF is more “cologne” esque, whilst this one is more perfumed (the florals) and a daytime-safe scent. If you like those notes I would say this is worth picking up if you pass it by— I found it at Marshall’s as the hair and body mist and it still leaves the almost oiled/balmy residue on the back of my hand like a direct spray of perfume would.

I’m feeling very realized that I’m not the only one who doesn’t smell a lick of hazelnut! I get smoky powdered chocolate and oud!

Honestly this fragrance is a little bit of a bore. I think it smells nice on me, it wasn't terribly expensive, but it's lacking a certain charm. I think it would be a good gift for a friend around the holidays because it's a warmer scent. Maybe I was expecting a hazelnut note in this because of the name. It's a little misleading. I think if you like "By The Fireplace" from the Margiela Replica line, or "Cloud" by Ariana Grande, you'll like this, but it's not a necessity by any stretch of the imagination.

To preface, I own the Chocolat Hazelnut version of this fragrance. This is not something I can wear on myself. It's very smokey and sweet. It's not really a burning wood kind of smoke smell, though. More of a burnt frosting or flaming marshmallow smoke, if that makes sense. It also has a distinct soapy note. I smell the same generic soap note in a lot of Philosophy shower gels. Just smoke, sugar, and soap for this one. And it's very strong. VERY STRONG. Spraying this on my clothes gave me an instant headache. It gave my husband a headache from a few rooms away. It enveloped my whole apartment like a bad, nasty, sickly sweet fart. This is the kind of scent I would spray on someone as a weapon. If I wasn't afraid of the bottle breaking, I would keep it in my purse as an alternative to mace. I've found that this makes a great air freshener though. I live in a duplex with neighbors that are constantly smoking skunky herb, and a single spray of this in our shared hallway completely masks the smell for a few hours.

A scent called hazelnut, obviously without a hint of hazelnut. It smells like sweet vanilla, limited edition holiday shower gel, that's about it. No matter how hard I look, not an ounce of hazelnut smell is on the horizon. As for the Guaiac and Heliotrope, forget it. At this point, it's an olfactory mess and not even worth its low price ($36 per 75mL, I think) and it would be better to wear nothing. As much as I have respect for companies like Yves Rocher that offer low-cost fragrances for people who want to indulge themselves without having the budget to spend on better-sourced and more elaborate perfumes, Urban Outfitters, with the audience they target, can go and cook an egg. Instead, sell vouchers for small houses that do their job well and are struggling to survive.

Just boring, if you have by the fireplace, don't buy this one. By the fireplace is much better in my opinion.

This smells like hookah and dissappear after 5 minutes

I have both chocolat hazelnut and hazelnut l’hun and have tested them both on each arm and compared because I was curious to know if they were the exact same or unique.. In my experience/opinion, these are the same scent but just reformulations of each other and the order in which you smell each of the notes appear as opposite. When I tested hazelnut l’hun, it started out as smoky, woody and a bit dry with a hint of cocoa in the background. Very little sweetness. After a min or two the hazelnut peeks through and as it dries down it becomes a sweet hazelnut scent with everything else behind it. For chocolat hazelnut, I actually experienced the opposite within the 1st 1-3 minutes. It starts out slightly sweet, there’s a bit of cocoa, woodiness and smokiness with a tiny bit of hazelnut in the background. Then it dries down to a dry, woody cocoa scent. Soo, basically yes they are the same.. in a way.. the notes are the exact same, there is just a different experience with how the notes develop for each one. I would say I kinda prefer the hazelnut l’hun because of the sweetness that remains at the end HOWEVER after about 15-20 minutes they both end up smelling pretty much the same with the complete dry down lol. So if you’re confused as to which representation to get just choose whichever name you like best I suppose haha it really doesn’t matter that much! Hope this helps.

The review by "theeredqueen" is spot on: this is a "By the Fireplace" dupe that is a bit sweeter, less smokey, and not as long-lasting. I actually prefer this over "By the Fireplace", because the touch of sweetness + less smokey = more balanced/wearable to my nose. For the price, it's a great alternative!

This fragrance was also renamed Chocolat Hazelnut, they are both the same scent.
