Le Soleil Brille

This is not exactly in the MK Wonderlust Sublime league of sweet solar balsamic and floral scents with a syrupy sun tan lotion vein, even though eventually it leans in this direction. This is dry in the opening due to the driftwood being a salty dry woody note and it is very dusty floral, dusty-powdery (the way Fresh Cut Lilacs by BBW are dusty-flowery), especially at first, but even in the drydown even though this dominant feature is slightly muted later on. The dusty floral spice is not pleasant to me, it rarely is, it is okay in Gingham Glow from the marigold and I can tolerate it in BBW's Golden Sunflower (both being in this balsamic solar syrupy league as Getaway Soiree is too), but the freesia here is too fresh-dusty and heady to me. The freesia is slightly green and being heady it is also balsamic in a floral way, and the coconut lends a nice sweetness so the result is slightly solar and better. It doesn't scream coconut right away, but the coconut helps make the scent more attractive instantly. Again and again my nose is bothered by the dry dusty floral smell. I detect the coconut more in the drydown as a true coconut scent, the fresh type Le Monde Gourmand utilizes, which adds an intense ozonic nautical flair to the whole scent and it makes it rather aquatic combined with the fresh freesia which retains some of that dusty flowery powdery quality. It also has some citrusy tone from the freesia right away, it exacerbates that 'dry' impression and it lasts till early in the drydown. It gradually becomes sweeter and more ethereal, still powdery without so much of that pungent dry dusty feel, but it takes some time to become less dry and less dusty-floral on my skin. Its projection is nice later in the drydown : a green sweet and fresh white floral scent, slightly heady and powdery, solar balsamic, but with an intense woody salty and ozonic aquatic feel. It is moderately lactonic, but more on the super floral sunny dusty side. I will never finish the little bottle I have and I've been tempted to let it go many times, but I keep it because the projection at the drydown later on smells quite nice. I wear it mainly in the house and to bed in the summer especially if I take a noon nap, it is quite calming.
