Mais Souffle

My husband goes wild for buttered popcorn flavor and *strongly* encouraged me to get Mais Souffle for us when I read him that delightfully shady review article. Happy to report that he loves wearing it, especially on Fun Days Out. Family cookout, beach day, light hike; it's great for sunny days. I was more excited for the supposed apple note, but neither of us can smell any apple in it. Just realistic buttery popcorn bolstered by a candy sweetness that reminds me of Whipped Almond. I don't find it overdone or screechy, it does exactly what we want it to do (minus the apple, for me). On him it lasts about an hour, then the butter tones way down leaving a really nice, sweet, vaguely gourmand-y skin scent. He uses moisturizer, so the skin scent lasts 5+ hours on him. I like wearing it just fine, but Mais Souffle is just perfection on him. This is NOT a safe blind buy unless you're into buttered popcorn as a snack, a fragrance, a lifestyle. Realistic gourmands are not everyone's cup of popcorn, but LGM sure has found their audience in my husband.

It's a YES for me! TJ Maxx / $13 before taxes. When I sniff this I get some sweetness at first, not extremely sweet - but it is there. Then I get the popcorn (for sure!), and the buttery smoothness. I also get something refreshing and almost minty-esque at the very end of my sniff. It's not strong and it's not heady...it's just enough to be there. I do love this!! It's popcorn, and it's not too complex, but it is definitely a little more elevated than just plain ol' butter popcorn. I do feel like I'm wearing a perfume and not a body splash.

The initial spray is very popcorny, which is fun. But then it dries down to a subtle sweet, fruity, almost floral scent. I really didn’t expect to like this one so much!

Honestly I love this brand, I wish they would do actual niche or designer quality fragrances. I love their combinations and they are so unique, but they just never last more than a few hours. I'm a gourmand girl to the extreme so this is right up my alley, although I don't typically like popcorn scents because the butter and salty nature tends to make me nauseous. Thankfully, I don't get that from this. It smells like popcorn perfumery, very soft, and cozy, not overdone. I love it. I mixed this with a spicy vanilla and I was in heaven!!!! I wouldn't wear it on its own, it's fun, but on its own I think it's a little juvenile to smell like popcorn without something grounding it. They have another new one called violet cream that smells just so beautiful. This is a perfect house for a gourmand lover like me, it's just so disappointing about the quality and performance 😫 Chai spice, noir distille, chocolate hazelnut, and bon bon blanc are my favorites. found the carnaval trio for 10 bucks at marshalls a while back and had to get it. mais souffle is so strange to me lol. to my nose, kinda smells like stale kettle corn. i do get the apple note when i initally spray this onto my skin, and on the dry down i get this (stale) buttery popcorn scent with a hint of sweet vanilla. im conflicted on whether i like this or not. out of the three, i have sprayed this one the most just cuz i can't stop smelling it hahaha. doesn't last on my skin for very long (perhaps 30min-1hr?). i think i want a full-size bottle of this just to have it around. it's a nice novelty scent, maybe not good for everyday wear unless that's your thing. in that case, slayyyy queen/king!

Pleasant toasty popcorn. Slightly sweet at the start, then just toasty & savory with a little butter. I picked up the Carnaval trio because I was curious. I thought that out of the three this would be my least favorite, but it turns out to be the only one I actually enjoy! This will be good for layering. I’m looking forward to seeing how popcorn accord plays into Cirque du Soleil when it arrives in a few days.

Hear me out. This might sound bizarre but it really gives off Kayali Vanilla 28 vibes. Not in the first 10 minutes of course, but as it dries down and becomes more powdery, it has a slight floral scent and it really smells amazing. It is not too sweet and not at all what I expected. Don't be thrown off by the carnival fun fair aspect.

This is a true popcorn scent. Not strong or lasting, but a pleasant, light pick-me-up for popcorn lovers. I don't get any odd dry-down at all, it just gently fades. I've started layering this with Dua Oh Damn (dupe for Jousset Sheeesh) which is chocolate/popcorn notes.

Just... smells like a buttery popcorn kernel. I love that. This is a scent I’d wear for a day at the amusement park or a summer festival or something along those lines - somewhere where you might smell actual popcorn on the wind. It’s so fun. 8/10

I definitely get that kettle corn scent which is pleasant. It would go great with Eden Apple by Kayali or another sugary gourmand. I got a travel spray trio which included Sucre de Cotton and Le Soda Pop for only 9.99.

Smells like kettle corn! I definitely get the buttered popcorn, but not apple... altough there is something sweet. Excited to experiment layering with this! I also purchased "le soda pop" which is just as fun.

This has been my first unfortunate foray into Le Monde Gourmand. It doesn't let one down on the popcorn note. It's immediately a bold and buttery blast of that. Nice and sort of novel. It's the entire rest of the incredibly short journey to nowhere that disappoints. Within maybe thirty minutes, all I have left is a vaguely warm and sweet smelling waft of scent that sits just on the skin and then shortly thereafter fades to nill. My favorite thing about this one is the ten seconds of summer memories and the minimal design of the bottle. I hope the other fragrances in the line perform better because this is a tiny eau fraiche or body mist masquerading as an accessibly-priced EDP.

I so much wanted to love this and at first spray, I did. Buttery, popcorn-y, sweet. What's not to like? Then, a blast of powder. I get no apple, just straight powder which is among my very least favorite notes in perfume. For the price, I'm not super upset and I like Le Monde Gourmand overall. I'd pay double if they came out with a fragrance that lasted more than a half hour on me. Even overspraying doesn't help (not that I'd overspray this, since I don't really care for it)

i’m a pretty strict gourmand girly and i love me a good popcorn scent, and i thought it’d smell amazing with that apple note but it’s just not a vibe i’m afraid:( i was expecting SDJ 71 kind of warm buttery with sweetness from the apple, but it just smells so dang powdery! it’s not a bad smelling perfume by any means, just disappointing for the notes listed. so glad i got it on sale rather than pay full price considering the lasting power is booty(MAX 1 hour)

i was really hoping to love this, as a popcorn scent sounded so unique and fun! however, it is wayyy too green for me. i love the initial spray, but as it dries down, i do not get any popcorn, just green :(

Not a fan. Smells like some weird slime/playdoh stuff I played with when I was a child. Really have to have my nose buried into me to smell it though.

I thought this was going to be my favorite of the release but it’s undeniably at the bottom. First blast is pure popcorn goodness but after a handful of seconds all I get is the smell of public restroom soap. Absolutely disgusting. If you want to smell like a rest stop this is the one for you.

I ordered the Carnaval trio off of Amazon and expected this scent is my favorite of the 3. I found a full size bottle at tjmaxx and bought it. It really smells lile creamy salty and sweet butter. I have no idea where the apple is suppose to be. It does not smell expensive and is an odd scent to rock but I really enjoy wearing it. It doesn't have a strong alcoholic opening which I appreciate. It dies down pretty fast but it leaves with you a sexy your skin but better scent when it does.

Full on buttered pop corn but sadly doesn't last even 10 minutes. It's would be so interesting if it lasted longer. Do not smell any apple at all.
