Thé Matcha

This is a really lovely, light and fresh scent. Very citrus-forward from the start, it feels like a blend of several citrus fruits layered with green tea and soft herbal notes through the middle. As it dries down, it turns into a clean, cosy musk that melts into my skin in a really pleasant way. That said, and I agree with what a lot of other reviews mention, this isn’t the most green tea centric fragrance out there. If you’re looking for something bold, deep or strongly focused on green tea, this isn’t it. The tea here is more of a supporting character rather than the star of the show. Longevity is also quite short, which is honestly expected for a fresh, citrusy scent. I personally don’t mind reapplying, but the bottles are pretty small, so they do run out quickly. Because of that, I tend to use it mostly at night, especially after my evening shower. Yes, there is a slight clean, almost freshly washed or cleaning product vibe at first, but nothing harsh or astringent. Very quickly, it softens into something gently sweet but never cloying and blends beautifully with the skin. In my personal opinion, this one is completely unisex and sits perfectly in the middle of the gender neutral spectrum. Easy, comforting, and very wearable.

This is a bit more fruity than I expected, but I really like it. It's like a pear green tea. It's incredibly bright and fresh. Very uplifting and clean. It feels very cheerful. I got it in a trio set that was very affordable, so I think this is a very good deal. Even on it's own, these are $20-$25 for a 100ml bottle, so it's really an easy buy. I think this would be good as a blind buy as it's so refreshing, it's hard to imagine it offending anyone or mixing poorly with your skin chemistry. I don't know why this is considered a men's fragrance though, it's more feminine leaning unisex. I think it would be nice for a man, but I definitely wouldn't call this a men specific scent.

I resent that this is marketed “for men”, this is quite unisex. opens with a breath of fresh green tea, light, crisp, and gently invigorating, like a quiet morning with a warm cup in hand. It does not smell like matcha whatsoever, but it is a beautiful scent. I do find it ultra-feminine. I read it's supposed to be masculine. Can't imagine a dude pulling this one off

Thé Matcha has survived many declutters, and yet I have tried to declutter it many times, mainly because I keep reaching for it expecting it to fit in with the many facets of my tea obsession: a cool and refreshing tea (like Bvlgari Green Tea or Elizabeth Arden Green Tea), a milky and powdery tea (like Replica Tea Escape) or a sensuous, woody tea (like Bvlgari Red Tea). And it is none of these things! And yet it keeps surviving my declutters because I like it every time I spray it on! How does this keep happening? I've realized the problem is the name; it's not a matcha (let alone tea) scent at all! I want bitterness, powder, a milky, warm base when I think of matcha. Or for a green tea, at least something earthier and more bitter. This is a zesty, ripe wedge of lime in a mojito drink, that turns from effervescent to a more calming and powdery green in about 10-20 minutes. But it's not cheap/alcohol smelling nor sharp -- it's anchored by a smooth amber base, freesias and orange blossoms. Where it lacks in longevity (it lasts about 2 hours on me) it makes up for by being a perfectly quality, well-formulated scent. It reminds me a lot of a slightly sweeter Versace Versense, without the gentle kick of cardamom spice and soapiness. I think this is a very safe blind buy for a young lady, who has more of a natural/minimalist style, and prefers not to wear the candy sweet gourmands. This would also make a nice office everyday scent for someone who wants to smell citrusy fresh, but still put together and feminine. Not as rugged or provocative as the CK One girl, she valets the car and wears strands of thin dainty jewels on her designer white t-shirt.

Oof I have mixed feelings about this one. First of all, I have no idea why this is designated for men...this is absolutely a feminine perfume. It’s a citrus floral green tea that is almost exactly a replica of Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, except The Matcha is a little heavier on the lemon. The opening is almost pure citrus and the green tea appears as it dries down. Matcha is a misleading name for this because real matcha is powdery and grassy. This is much more fresh and fruity smelling. Also, I can’t decide on its longevity, because sometimes it’s disappeared from my skin as soon as I’ve sprayed it and other times it’s lingered on me all day. My dad got a whiff of it and said it smells like a perfume from the 80s he couldn’t remember the name of, but he liked it. This is a pleasing and inoffensive fragrance overall, and I don’t regret blind buying but also probably wouldn’t restock.

On my quests for my favorite green tea scent, I came across Thé Matcha. It’s nice, bright and citrusy. It’s not a realistic green tea smell, but it’s still super pleasant. My biggest comparison to it so far is the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea as other reviewers have noted. This one is a lot punchier, though, I think the Freesia note really comes through. This one smells more tangy and juicy where Elizabeth Arden’s smells more subtle and clean. It doesn’t last especially long, so multiple sprays are a must. My husband prefers this smell on me over the Elizabeth Arden one, but I think both are great in their own ways, even while still being so similar. Personally I love wearing this after a shower and before bed. It is a very bright smell though, so it’s also very suitable as a morning/work smell.

I definitely would classify this perfume as a women's perfume. I did a blind buy, don't regret it at all. It's a great value buy--$18 for an ounce. I was looking for an easy daytime perfume that wouldn't be too heavy and it has all the scent notes that I like. The only time I think this could be an appropriate night time perfume would be somewhere tropical. It makes me think of Mexico, Brazil, or the Caribbean at night. It's clean, but sweeter smelling than I expected with notes of honey and amber at the base. Definitely a good casual perfume, appropriate for the office, and pretty neutral/inoffensive if not overdone.

Immediate notes are very very strong citrus and green tea, completely absent of any matcha, but still vaguely tea-adjacent. Initial skin test is pleasant and fresh, but too much can very quickly overwhelm the senses with a very intense cleaner smell. This is the kind of perfume that is good for one or two sprays when going out in the Spring or Summer as it's cooling and fresh, and lasts a good 3-4 hours. If your goal is to find a matcha, or tea-centered perfume, this is likely not going to satisfy. It leans far too heavily into the citrus and can come off like an air freshener, or lemon-scenter cleaner.

Again, this isn’t what I expected at all. Beautiful green tea that’s feminized with the freesia and amber. Sometimes green tea can be really masculine, other times it’s overly sweet. This is very fresh and clean and WOW is it strong! I would layer this with vanilla because I could stand it to be a tiny bit sweeter, maybe even coconut to give it a tropical feel. Very different from the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea fragrances which I find to be too sweet and melon-y. Very pretty and very strong.

This fragrance was given to me as a gift and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it because it’s not scent profile I usually lean towards. This is a clean, citrusy fragrance with a hint of green tea on the dry-down. I always received tons of compliments when wearing it! It has moderate lasting power and you definitely won’t smell “basic”. That said, it’s not very complex and is a bit too young for me these days. I used up the whole bottle, but I won’t be repurchasing.

Definitely a women's perfume. It smells like a fancy spa - fresh, clean, sweet and calming. It lasts for 3-4 hours on me and is a great value for money. It's a perfect casual scent; not too heavy or cloying, perfect for school, the office, gym, or hanging around the house. Most in the line are worth checking out and would make good gifts, especially for someone graduating from body spray to perfume. I own several and none are disappointing!

Smells absolutely nothing like matcha, or even green tea. That said, for the price point (£20 at ASOS at time of writing) this is a really nice citrus fragrance. For me, it starts out quite sweet, almost lemon-sherbet like, but fades down into something a lot cleaner and fresher, and it lasts a decent amount of time - I sprayed some on at midday, and I could still smell it well into the evening.

Well, it doesn't smell like matcha. But it smells like looking at matcha across a shop counter. It is simple and citrusy and inoffensive. It smells refreshing and doesn't jump out too much, like it could easily be mistaken for the wearer's soap or shampoo. That's an issue if you want a scent that leaves an impression, but I think this one's utility lies in its straightforwardness.

Mainly a sweet citrus, with a sweet green tea note, no matcha to be found here. Calming, relaxing, refreshing. No idea why it's marketed as "for men", it's totally unisex. Maybe it smells slightly more fresh masculine than Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea? I was hoping for more of a powdery matcha scent, but this is definitely your standard citrus green tea. Pleasant though!

Fresh-out-of-the-shower, tea-tree-oil-fresh kind of clean. Thé Matcha is a fun and fresh citrus scent unlike anything else I’ve ever worn. I ran out months ago and still can’t stop thinking about her—I’m experiencing withdrawals. It reminds me of the scent of soap that lingers behind in a bathroom after someone takes a shower: decidedly fresh and familiar.

I like this! A very gentle green and citrusy perfume. It is sweeter than I thought which makes it a bit more feminine, but I don’t mind that all. I enjoy using this more like a body spray since Le Monde Gourmand scents don’t usually like that long. I’ll probably use it more in the Spring and Summer.

i like the dry down a lot. i wish it was stronger on the green tea note. It smells more like bergamot. but its a le monde gourmand perfume. you really cant ask for too much. nice and cheap for what its offering. its a real perfume, just not a spectacular one. glad i have it in my arsenal.

i bought this perfume back when i was a little baby girl and i didnt even know what 'matcha' was. if you had asked me what this scent was, i wouldve told you melon rinds. its not green tea at all, but it is quite nice

This is a very safe perfume. It smells clean and citrusy. I have to agree with everyone that I wish there was a more earthy herbal not and less citrus. When I think of green tea I don't automatically think of lemon.

Reminds me of a shampoo from the 90s so I use this as a hair mist. Can’t say I’m not obsessed because of the nostalgia but I get what other commenters mean when comparing this to detergent or cleaning products.

It smells like a kinda sweet green tea. It’s very nice and fresh but not too fresh to where it can smell like a cleaning product. Has some earthiness to it, kinda citrusy but that is pretty faint.

A basic inoffensive green/fresh perfume. However, I wish that it were a bit more earthy/herbal rather than citrusy and this doest really last more than an hour on my skin.

Nice and fresh! This looked like a body mist. I didn’t realize it was supposed to be for men, and I think it’s unisex or slightly feminine. A nice clean scent.

This is a citrus scent and is great for summer heat. It says for men, but I think it's much more feminine.

I just received this perfume, so this is my first impression of it. Upon first spray, it is very citrus-forward, specifically lemon. It kind of resembles an artificial candy/air freshener type of lemon. It remains very lemony and quickly opens up to more citric notes, and becomes slightly fruity. In around 10-15 minutes of wear, the notes blend and create a light, citrusy, fruity scent. Once the scent fully settles, it smells like a sweet iced tea with lemon. I think it's a bit too sweet to be green tea, but once fully blended, the scent is pleasant. Contrary to the marketing, I think this is definitely a more feminine-leaning scent. I think this scent fits into the category of perfumes that smell like yummy hair products, specifically shampoo or some kind of nostalgic hair cream.

I would recommend this scent for teens. However I did not like this scent very much. I only have a 7mL bottle of it so I’m not super worried about it being a huge waste. It smells like tea for sure but not like matcha. I thought this would have been a sweet nutty earthy matcha but instead it’s kind of lightly aromatic and fresh spicy. It does remind me of Elizabeth Arden’s green tea. But I would rather use that over this one. It doesn’t smell bad but it’s just an artificial tea smell. Fortunately it doesn’t project much and it doesn’t last too long. I’ll have to layer this with a vanilla or something ambery to see if that helps makes it more ‘matcha’ like .

It’s nice. On the drydown, I’m getting more of a leafy green tea in comparison to that earthy matcha note I was anticipating from the name. The amber note adds depth without it being overpowering in any way. I’m almost smelling a powdery note in there too.. could be the freesia? It’s a great scent to wear for work or on the daily, it’s so inexpensive too so I felt no hesitation to rush through the entire bottle, but it doesn’t really speak to me. A very non-committal scent.

honestly this fragrance smells kinda basic to me and like other reviews have stated it really doesn't smell like matcha. however, it does smell pretty much like citrus and I wouldn't say it's bad, I still layer this with similar smelling perfumes and I have gotten compliments for it. I just wish it didn't smell cheap to me personally and I would rank this lower compared to other perfumes by le monde gourmand.

Doesn't smell anything like matcha, but it's not bad. It smells like a bright clean soapy fresh citrus- like a pleasant grapefruit/blood orange hand soap or window cleaning solution. As others have mentioned, this could easily be mistaken for a shampoo. Totally inoffensive, wear it in the summer, but it's nothing special and it's nothing matcha.

I don’t think it smells like green tea at all. Maybe like those cheap citrus green teas you can buy in a bottle? But they smell like lemon more than tea. So I’d say it smells like lemon cleaner, then settles into smelling like a floral cleaner. But it doesn’t even really smell like soap, just like cleaning product

From the name, I expected it to smell like matcha, however to me it smells soapy and fresh. It is nice to wear during summer. Soapy/fresh scents aren’t my fave, so I don’t rlly reach for this, but I will be wearing it during summer to finish it up.

Just a strong citrus fragrance. Bright and fresh but definitely nothing special. I actually received this one with Citron Glace and I like this one better than that for a fresh citrus but I won't be repurchasing.

I don't exactly get matcha from this, I mostly get a clean orange/mandarin citrus with the white floral notes in the background. It smells nice but not like what I was expecting

Inoffensive, freshly steeped GREEN TEA, not matcha. Very clean, a little citrusy. Not strong and doesn't really last long but its only like $15 - $25 so what did you expect?

It's a cute smell! I don't see myself reaching for it too much, but it is light and refreshing. It reminds me of something Bath & Body Works would make.

This smells like detergent. I can only think to use it as a home fragrance after cleaning the bathroom or the kitchen. It is fresh, citrusy and clean.

lacks the powdery starchiness of actual matcha and matcha scents. this is green tea, not matcha. citrusy & perky. super white florals and green tea.

anamawsity hit the nail on the head when they said "the most basic bar of soap that you finally started using after it’s been sitting in a cupboard for 10 years" in their review. Calling this a Matcha fragrance is straight up offensive. I didn't look up reviews of this one so was judging based off it's name, but it smells like a very basic citrus and aldehyde scent. I love citrus in perfumes when they're done well and, perhaps if I was expecting citrus in this, I would have reacted better, but there's genuinely no discernible tea note that I got. It just smells like cheap citrus bar soap. Like the TJ Maxx soap aisle, almost. In the same way that I don't like a lot of Chanel perfumes because they have that aldehyde note to them, this smells like an "old lady" scent to me. It smells alright on a friend who told me she was wearing it, but I wouldn't be able to wear it myself. For me, it's a nightmare. For someone who is looking for a fresh, citrus soapy scent, this is probably your dream fragrance and I'd recommend getting a bottle ASAP. I don't think I've ever gotten "soap" so strongly from a perfume that had no aldehyde note.

this is the first fragrance i ever bought from le monde gourmand and i was so confused by it. i expected a matcha latte and got a face full of bright, zinging, soapy citrus. just reached for my bottle again for the first time in years and had the same experience. the opening is straight up cleaning supplies and the dry-down is a slightly more tolerable, but VERY weak, green floral amber scent. i could see someone rocking this but if fresh & clean green scents are your thing there's better picks out there.

At first spray this scent is beautiful, fresh and clean, but the dry down for me is the smell of a girls locker room. Cheap and headache inducing, like standing in a room where someone sprayed too many BBW scents at once. Others have already said this, but there's no matcha to be found here. This is a generic cheap fruity floral. I couldn't detect herbal elements to take it into the tea category. Disappointing because of all the UA scents this was the one I was most curious about.
