Glorya Day

I got a sample of this 2 months ago along with another perfume order and every time I wore it my husband complimented how lovely I was smelling that day. So as I was in Munich anyway at the time, I went ahead to the Lengling boutique and got myself a bottle. It's a pretty classic fruity floral with a gentle gourmand-ish dry down. I wore it at temperatures of 28-34°C (that's in the 80s and small 90s Fahrenheit for Americans) and it lasted pretty well on me. On my clothes I could easily still smell it by the end of the day. Of course, when it's hot and you're sweating few fragrances will last all day, so in that weather it did become a skin scent after about 5hrs. I had the notion - which was later confirmed by the friendly lady in the boutique - that this was meant as a lighter fruity feminine addition for the summer season to their lineup. Otherwise, there's Sekushi - which I also own and love dearly - but which often has a bit too much oomph for the heat or for casual daytime wear. Glorya Day fills that gap. Upbeat, easy going, and very very feminine. Now, do you need this? I will be very frank here, it is not a groundbreaking composition. You certainly can scratch that specific itch with other similar fragrances (other than Sekushi, which is pretty unique in my collection). But it IS an expertly composed high-quality blend and I am very happy to own it. Another point is, that I feel a personal connection to this brand because they're from my hometown and their bottle design - the cap being inspired by a pebble from the river Isar that flows through Munich - caters to my nostalgia and love for my hometown. I would say it's a very safe blind buy, but at the given price range I still generally recommend getting hands on a sample first to see if you really think it's worth it to you. To me it's a very strong like, but as of now, not yet a full love (which to me would be Sekushi). NOTE: I may still edit the scent description throughout the following year, as I still want to try the fragrance more in various types of occasions and weather. I will put a disclaimer in case I edit anything after this first review.

Unfortunately this is just coming out as a sweet mess on me. The raspberry and caramel are too prominent, and for a long time. Waiting for the dry down to see if something interesting turns up.
