Altamura

This is a beautiful incense scent! The orange is very prominent, very sparkly. I definitely get the "cosmic" inspiration from the description. Despite the strong notes listed, this is a subtle scent, very wearable, very unisex. I recommend it for all citrus and incense lovers. It's a boozy orange but, thank god, not sweet. Great and memorable scent, like everything I smelled from L'Entropiste.

Excellent realistic orange in the opening. Wow! Really enjoyed it! After a bomb of citrus all I smell is a mix of incense and alcoholic drink. Still very pretty scent. To tell the truth I really enjoyed testing whole discovery set! Well done!! Thank you!

I trust Bertrand Duchaufour with notes I usually heavily dislike, so Altamura was no disappointment. Neither incense nor orange are something I gravitate towards, however the excellent execution here led me into appreciation of the story being told. This one can be huge with Light Academia men and it would suit them oh so well. One previous review perfectly describes the scent as an old guys’s suit being left in a wardrobe with an orange peel in the pocket for a long time. To my mind, the old guy is a university professor with unyielding passion for research. Even if he’s the primary character that comes to mind, a man of any age with academic inclinations will have this one fit like a glove. As opposed to the reviewer before me, Altamura has near-beastly projection and longevity on my skin. Funny how that always happens with perfume that’s not one’s cup of tea.

Ripe juicy italian orange that greets you with hint of cointreau in wide cut glass on sunny patio. Not overly sweet, very nice and truly unisex. In second part of its lifetime mulled wine spices like clove or star anise gets to front. This perfume stays strong during its long 7h lifespan for me. Thumbs up!

Hmmm... I get a small batch ginger ale from a craft soda company about 5 minutes in. My mind must be confusing a note/ combination. I need more time with this one.

A strange one! Like I've fallen into a pool of bitter orange liqueur... effervescent, citrus and spices... maybe a cocktail... In the first blast I was like what is happening, it was incredibly intense. And it strongly reminded me of something I've drunk before but I can't place it. And for some reason it's like you've shoved your tongue right into the center of a non-sweet orange and your tongue has gone numb in this sour-bitter-fizzy way. There's also something damp/earthy/dark going on in this perfume. So it's not the bright and bubbly fruity kind. It moves at more of an aged vibe. The drydown is even more interesting because it's like you've hurled this liqueur into a fireplace, something is sizzling away (yes, dangerous) and the fire goes out... the charred orange residue stays with you. SO much potential and sadly another dud... On paper this could have been great but it's just utterly 'safe' and 'boring'... I had such high hopes as BD has been my favorite perfumer for over a decade and since this is his own line I wanted to be wowed... Sadly I'm not... Generic boozy incense fragrance but it just smells of a mishmash of elements from his vast library of creations done for other houses but simply not done better... I think the fact that BD has made so many incredible fragrances over the years that expectations are just sky high... Perhaps unfairly so... **sigh** But this is just so generic... I'm so disappointed...

I've sampled three scents from Bertie's new brand and this is the least awful. So you can imagine, none of them have impressed me, but this one at least smells ok, whereas the others have been screechy, scratchy and cheap-smelling. This does smell cheap, and given BD's reputation for being the expert at rendering incense in various perfume guises, I'd expect something more original. It's a solid meh 🤷

I don't like this at all. I thought this would change for the better once I put it on my skin (the test spray I put on the other day even deceived me into thinking it would) but I find this just as dislikeable as I do on paper. I don't mind incense or orange as notes, but the orange here is very syrupy, it reminds me of the taste of some orange popsicles my pediatrist used to give me after every consultation when I was a child, but I don't mind the taste, the smell on the other hand is off putting and nauseating. The combination of this syrupy orange with the incense comes off medicinal, but thankfully this is the weakest L'Entropiste off my skin by far, if this was as strong as Dorian's Spleen or even Blanc Sada I'd have probably washed this off already.

This opens so good it makes me a little angry, honestly, because I simply cannot justify the price point for what is essentially a mildly smokey and vaguely earthy/soapy orange cologne. How can it be so good with just its four little notes? And for that matter, who keeps letting me buy samples of expensive fragrances I can't afford to full bottle? Who is in charge of me?? Luckily for my wallet, this does feel a bit too simplistic for the price, and the performance wasn't great. It turns into a soapy white floral with a touch of orange pretty quickly, which is a shame, because the star of the show for me is that bright smokey orange right when you first apply this. If it cost less, I might splurge, but it's just too much for not enough oomph, I think. Still, I got nothing bad to say about how this smells.

I nornally dislike leaving reviews that are kitschy and not in a somewhat objective fashion. This is not one of those reviews per se, but i could not help myself with what this scent conjures up in my mind This is probably a pleasant enough scent for most people, but for me this scent is encapsulated in two words Laughing gas This smells exactly like the laughing gas you got (or used to be able to get) at the dentist. Its uncanny, that somewhat powdery, vaguely orangey-citric faint fog Can’t really pick up anything besides that, but I don’t doubt that everyone else is smelling what they say they smell

This is a fabulous orange scent! amazing! it is a powerful but natural smelling mandarine orange rind scent. It has some added spices and a boozy note. I don't get much incense. It is really gorgeous. It reminds me of Mandarine Basilic if you improve the weakness of that scent...In my mind it is like if you were able to take Mandarine Basilic (Forte version) add spices, add a little more orange, little amber and increase the sweetness, then you would get something similar to Altamura.

My favorite of this line. It just smells great, performs great, and doesn’t remind me of anything else I’ve ever tried. A lovely layered, textured, deep spicy smokey thing tinged in candied orange. Not too sweet, just perfect. And many compliments throughout the day. I will be getting a bottle. 4 out of 5.

smells like you're in a church, and seated in your row is a man in a vaguely masculine 90s freshie (he's prob wearing a headset and square black leather shoes) who snuck a diet coke into the service and spilled it all over the floor and now it's sticky.

Very sad sweet orange and incense. Perfume without glitter. Smells like it was buried a thousand years ago. In contrast Bvlgari Aqua Amara has the same orange - incense accord, but in different - aquatic, bloody, gothic way.

Exactly as described: Incense, orange, cola, spices, some kind of liquor. A bit of an old man vibe to the whole thing. If you like this, you would like Uncut Gem by Malle or the tobacco one from Creed.
