Caprifoglio

Honeysuckle always is linked to childhood perfume for babie colognes or perfumes of the 70s where this flower were "in fashion", one for all the original eau de cologne Hermes now called eau d'orange vert but mutilated of honeysuckle. Sometimes honeysuckle based perfumes are a little bit sads, that freshness which tends to cloudy cold grey day. It is a humid smell, sweet yet nostalgic. The flower itself is more dreaming and luminous. Caprifoglio (honeysuckle) it is a nice white flowers composition. This one is more sunny and uplifting than the others honeysuckle soliflower. Not so much childhood, but more neutral and creamy. Not so honeysuckle as the name suggests, as said it is more a concert of white delicate bouquet of natural fresh living flowers, gardenia, tiare, jasmine. Actually as the lemony notes this creation resemble more Magnolia than others. The sillage is not maybe soo syrong, so the longevity. But I think that is not a bad quality. Sometimes perfumes with a lot of flowers are more aggressive than oriental spicy scents. This is soft, tender, perfect for dinners or peaceful days and private moments with ourselves.

276 This smells like the Japanese(Hall's) honeysuckle in my garden, or very close at the right moment. Honeysuckle smells different at different times of the day or not at all and that perfect creamy sweet tart lemony floral "magic moment" is hard to catch. The humidity, temperature and other conditions have to be just right. Otherwise, it could be too indolic or too green or too decaying or too stemmy smelling. Annick Goutal has a more green smelling honeysuckle. 9/10-It's gentle and intense with the right conditions. It's best in warm humid spring and summer time. This is as close as you can come to the magic moment aroma of the honeysuckle flower in fragrance form.

Caprifoglio is a nice carefree floral with a very sweet edge, not too candy, but like many L'Erbolario florals it gets sugar-coated (think of Tiarè). I'm not sure why they do so, perhaps because grabbing the real honeysuckle scent is not easy nor cheap. Honeysuckle as a flower has a sweet smell but also very fresh and vegetal, not candyish. Caprifoglio is a nice synthetic one. It opens very bubbly and intensely floral, then it gradually fades and it doesn't smell overwhelming, just casual and pleasant. It's very longlasting on fabrics, but not at the initial potency, so you may want to re-apply, but not a wise behaviour.

I think this is a really pretty, fresh honeysuckle interpretation. For me, there is a bit too much citronella note immediately, but it quickly settles down to a rounder, garden sweet, soft and airy scent, light and very slightly creamy. I love it, but it doesn't last more than a couple of hours (if that) on me.
