It's such a shame that this has been discontinued. It was my mom's signature scent, and I used to love sharing it with her because it was quite unisex. I wish L'erbolario would bring it back. In my opinion, this is one of their best fragrances of all time, right up there with Corteccia. There's just something so special about it. Hard to describe, but it's definitely unique. An elegant, warm and pleasantly aromatic note. Spicy and fresh note of caraway and orange, followed by the aromatic and citrus note mixed with the white floral and musky base note of jasmine and musk. It is a particular fragrance from the unisex spicy woody group. The scent is delicious and inebriating and evokes the sensations of past summers. It has a slightly sweet, powdery scent that's balanced out by a hint of earthiness. It's not too floral, but it's not too masculine either. It's just right. Whenever I smell it, I'm instantly transported back to my childhood and all the happy memories I have with my mom. It's a true gem, and it's a shame that it's no longer available. If you ever come across a bottle of it, I highly recommend giving it a try if you can get your nose on it.

China, oh China! What a pleasant surprise! This exotic perfume is very spicy and on the heavier side. It's perfect for autumn/winter use, for those cold days and dark nights. I didn't detect caraway in it - definitely cloves though, and maybe nutmeg too. In fact, at some point it smelled like a real SPICE CAKE on my skin, and not in a bad way! Good longevity (lasts for hours), good price and a charming bottle. I definitely recommend this perfume for anyone who likes spicy/exotic smells! It's also a natural perfume, so it's not overwhelming at all.

For me it will remain as one of the best perfumes ever. I totally adore it. I even wrote to L'Erbolario to describe my love for it. I wished they could see how beloved this perfume is. They were very polite in their reply. But it seems it might not return to production. I refuse to believe it though. The perfume, body cream and the whole collection is unforgettable to me. Assolutamente, completamente eccezionale.

Uno dei migliori profumi che io abbia mai annusato! Lo definirei unisex, è molto particolare, non affatto scontato. é uno speziato fresco, che si può utilizzare sia in estate che in inverno. Non riesco proprio a capire perché l'erbolario non lo produca più!! è diventato introvabile! :(

I tested yesterday in a shop... I like it, it's so spiced, sparkling...

Altough China is referred to the tree bark of cinchona that l'erbolario use into the bath line, Jean Harlow in Shanghai in the 30s, or better Greta Garbo in Mata Hari could wear this not so impressing diva but very shalimar edc style fragrance. Simple, basical, bit bitter. Very Oriental/oriental-shop way. But westernized and unconventional. Not so similar to shalimar edc. I mentioned to indicate a kind of oriental unsweet perfume. I could swear there was patchouly inside. Very nice fragrance. Just I wolud love it had more sillage.

China starts surprisingly spicy, with the intense smell of a dry black and purest licorice, to change direction into what caraway seeds should be. To my nose what takes place is a strong woody spicy revelation of pure clove. Yes it is, I checked it: the latin name is "Eugenia caryophyllata" and I can't go wrong, as I have it in my cupboard. I keep sniffing the strip I am left with, as I have never met anything like this before, it seems to be a clove based drydown. Lovers of clove, give it a go and try it on skin.

China indeed has a robust caraway scent that stands throughout the entire development of the fragrance. Despite its bold present, it does not dominate the whole olfactory concotion. I might say the citrus is not as prominent but its effervescent gives China just the right amount of sparkle it needs. Projection is close to skin (even after few minutes) and longevity is impressive as it lasts for a good long 7 to 8 hours on my skin.

Like that I also think I'm pleasantly low cost and quality and 'more' that soddisfacente.Molto genuine and sincere as nature itself. Italian: Anch'io penso cosi.I costi sono piacevolmente bassi e la qualita e' piu' che soddisfacente.Molto genuino e sincero come la natura stessa.

Sadly, L'Erbolario has discontinued this delightful fragrance. Would anyone be able to tell me of a similar scent. I have been to Aedes and Ooswald perfumers to no avail! Help!

l'erbolario has very affordable prices for some great, genuine perfumes. This one is one of my favorite from l'erbolario. Exotic, spicy. Give it a try.

China reminds me of M7 (that is an old favourite of mine) but costs so much less!!! A strong, original, bitter and woody fragrance.
