Ortensia

This is a soft, delicate and quite beautiful musky floral. I am not familiar with the scent of hydrangea - I believed it to be a flower with hardly any smell. The floral note is mild and comforting, and I have a sense of heliotrope without actually smelling it distinctly. The soft musk is the dominate note. In an attractive pink bottle, this is a pretty but not sophisticated fragrance that is close to a skin scent on me.

I think I smell this different than many here. This starts off with a sharp camphor like powdery smell. Almost like a lavender and clary sage powder. From what I understand they use real hydrangea in this fragrance and hydrangea when distilled has a camphor like sharp floral smell. Very unique and unlike anything else I have smelled before. It's almost lavender like but not lavender. As this goes along I get more of a violet tone with heliotrope. This is quite powdery so you must LOVE powdery fragrances to wear this. It is a dry pollen like powder. A play in contrasts soft and sharp, vanillia sweet and herbal aromatic. Pink and blue combined but separate. Very unique. Lovely.

My sister ADORES this perfume, she says it smells powdery and light. I on the other hand find it smells too much like baby wipes and I can't get it out of my head, so I don't really reach for it. :/

Spring is here and I'm welcoming it into my home. If you live in a part of the US or part of the globe where spring is already settling in, this fragrance is so beautifully fitting. It's such a gorgeous floral fragrance absolutely the best as far as spring time floral fragrances that I've smelled recently. And the flowers are front and center. I can smell each of the flowers in this fragrant bouquet: hortensia, heliotrope, violet, rose, geranium, iris and ylang-ylang. Let's talk about the hortensia for a moment. Hortensia or hydrangea is a pom-pom shaped shrub flower that come in many colors (blue pink yellow white purple) and they begin to bloom as soon as the spring begins in late March early April. They continue to blossom through spring and summer/early fall. They closely resemble rhododendron and azalea. I've seen them many times in botanical gardens here in the US but they are not native to North America. They're Oriental flowers and hail from China, Japan and Indonesia. I have smelled them before and they're somewhat like lotus except without the aquatic touches. They smell very differently as a flower than as a fragrance in perfume and I never knew that they could even be made into a perfume. I love the scent as a fragrance in perfume, however. The scent is very similar to heliotrope once it becomes a perfume. So the heliotrope in this scent which immediately follows that initial hortensia scent that opens the fragrance is very appropriate. It became hard to distinguish them as they all smelled like heliotrope to me. One can argue that this is a heliotrope perfume as well, or that it's a heliotrope disguised as hortensia. The other notes are tricky too. Iris and heliotrope also smell very alike in perfume and the iris note here is no surprise to me. Neither is the violet. It's a purple colored floral fragrance and if you like those kind of scents (i.e. think L'Heure Bleue by Guerlain) you'll love it in this fragrance. Heliotrope, iris and violet are really jumping out at me more than the hortensia, which is very soft and delicate. The rose and geranium note smell alike in perfume so it's also a rose perfume. I was blissfully lost in the direction this fragrance takes. It's a purple floral then it becomes a rose perfume. The musk, vanilla and sandalwood at the base are another stroke of genius. They're perfectly paired and provide the scent with depth and heft, keeping it from turning too powdery or like floral shampoo. This is a beautiful aroma. I purchased this Italian fragrance from their website. It's also selling on ebay. I have the large box gift set that comes with the following contents: 1: roll on perfume gel 2: perfumed body cream 3: perfumed bath oil 4: room fragrance 5: scented candles 6 scented sachets for closets and scented sachets for drawers. This is an epic spring time aroma therapy for your home, not just for yourself. My entire townhouse smells of it right now and everyone thinks it's absolutely gorgeous. It has a sweet flowery smell that is not too strong, just right. It can be strong if you spray too much as with any sort of air freshner. It never smells cheap or synthetic to me. It's just very floral and like walking into a flower shop. The gel, body cream and bath oil are lovely to use while you're having a bath. I scent my bath with this fragrance and then spritz on the perfume after the shower and when the body cream is still on me. The scented sachets for drawers keeps the wood furniture in your home especially armoires closets that open and close smelling very nice. This scent is not strong enough to mask any odors in your home if you have cats/litter boxes however. It's not that kind of scent. It's clearly a fragrance to lose yourself in with it's floral spring time sweetness while luxuriating in your own home - bath, bedroom, pillows. This has a calming effect and helps me to sleep. Absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend it. Check out the L'Erbolario Italian website and order it from them even if the Euro price is higher than it would be in US dollars. Totally worth it.

Thank You EBay Ortensia is a flower we're all familiar with but don't think about too much. Her genus is the hydrangea and they're pom-pom shaped flowers that come in pink blue red white and green. They are common to North America and Europe but they originate from Asia. I have ortensia in my garden in Mount Pleasant. I love these flowers. When I bought this perfume set I was enchanted with it's beautiful and very realistic aroma. How did they do it? I think that the reason this works is because it's so floral and it's not pure hydrangea-ortensia. Ultimately you have to be a floral fragrance enthusiast to even like this scent. If you're not into flowery smells this won't be for you. The main flower is well rounded and blended with the soft floral nuances of heliotrope, vanilla flower, geranium, violet and iris. These are the flowers I can detect as being the big players. The colors are definitely purple and blue. This is a sweet and delicate all floral scent. It's lacking in the bigger green notes and seems to go from a linear progression of multi floral to musk and dry barely perceptible wood. I would classify it as a very fresh and long lasting floral fragrance. The set comes with the fragrance as a spray and roll on, bath oil, body cream and aroma therapy for your home including room spray scented candles and scented sachets. This is spring time in a single perfume so it's best used during spring and summer. I like to match it up with the scent of actual flowers and plants coming from my garden and greenhouse so I spray this in the room closest to the garden. It's a smaller den but it attracts the scent of the garden and with Ortensia the whole thing ends up smelling so lovely and floral. For the price you get a very well made and high end fragrance though it's imported from Italy. I would love to explore more of the fragrances from this line - L'Erbolario - because they seem to specialize in authentic floral scents. I love to use floral fragrances not only as perfume on myself but as aroma for the home. This is nothing mind blowing but it's sweet spring like floral fresh and lovely. Once again I want to thank Fragrantica & eBay for guiding me.

I was looking for a perfume to replace the discontinued Moschino L'Eau Cheap and Chic. The biggest among my life favorites. I saw that compared to this. And even though I was suspicious of the notes, I decided to take a chance because it wasn't so expensive on eBay. Now I have discovered why it is not so expensive, it does not smell like anything. It is pure alcohol with a little bit of ambient flavoring, which is what the brand also does. The hydrangea is an odorless flower, just like this perfume, so it smells like pure hydrangea. I'm very intrigued by all these reviews about any scent about this "fragrance", it must be a perfume like the king's invisible clothes "only the intelligent can feel it" lol. But seriously, I hardly feel anything. I'm not talking about exhaling, or anything. I feel almost nothing like this when I spray, sniffing close up and spraying many times. Until they beeed in the background, I really felt in the background something that refers to Moschino's reference and therefore the comparison. But it is a sneaky nuance that appears out of nowhere and disappears.

Ortensia is beautiful floral fragrance. First of all it got my attention because it's a pink bottle/pink package. I collect pink colored perfumes. The scent matches up with the color. It's a feminine soft pink hydrangea with heliotrope and rose. It's mainly floral with lots going on but the 3 major flowers in it are hydrangea - the pom pom shaped shrub flower with a scent somewhat similar to violet - rose heliotrope plus additional common perfume floral notes of jasmine, geranium and violet. The dry down is heavenly as it's mostly vanilla and sandalwood. The aroma it releases fills a whole room so it's probably better suited as air freshner but I don't mind freshening up with this on my skin myself. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

I have tried this new fragrance from L'Erbolario last month. At the first spritz, I said: this is A BEAUTIFUL FRAGRANCE but it is definitely a copy of a HIGH PERFUMERY fragrance...I do not know which one though. After 2 minutes, when the fragrance settled down it HIT me: IT IS THE COPY, THE PERFECT COPY of Moschino L'eau de Cheap and Chic. I know because i have been wearing my beloved Moschino for years and I loved it! It used to be my signature fragrance and I have never found a replacement until my beloved Chane 19 Poudrè. Ortensia is THE PERFECT COPY, IDENTICAL perfume/fragrance of Moschino L'eau de cheap and chic, so if you loved that perfume you can certainly replace it with this beautiful copy.

Interesting to see this little thing compared to Moschino as being twins. Now that I read all those comments, I can see where they're coming from, but honestly I'd never thought of it myself. While Moschino is airy, this is a bit stuffy, rather reminding me of Kenzo Flower. I'm certainly not trying to argue and surely won't thumb down the "it reminds me of" section, as it may be useful to someone searching for a similar feel of an uncomplicated scent, but for the same reasons, I'll frankly say that if I ordered it blindly, expecting Moschino L'Eau in a sturdy bottle, I'd be disappointed. Have been going through 2 full bottles of L’eau Cheap and Chic around 10 years ago and refusing to pay niche prices in this cheapie of yore, I stumbled upon Ortensia. Let me tell you, it really does fit the shoes. Doesn’t have a very long lasting smell, but it’s a quite good replacement. If you liked L’eau, give this a try.

Spring in a bottle. I absolutely love it. Light floral fluffy powder, with decent longevity and soft sillage. Lifts up my mood, makes me feel like I'm walking in a spring garden while light wind blows through my hair... Breathtakingly beautiful. The song that fits: Feist - We're all in the dance
