Osmanthus

To me this feels nothing like Jour d'Hermes [gave that away as it wasn't my thing], it's just pure osmanthus and bitter grapefruit. I find the osmanthus to be quite sweet and heavy, a bit dark, balanced out by the grapefruit notes. That's all I can feel, the fragrance seems to be very linear as I can't detect anything else, no other notes. Was surprised to see ALL these listed above, I only feel the two. Really good, even if a bit 'clunky', but since it's a L'Erbolario fragrance and not a maison one I think the quality is very fine. Longevity-wise this was super ok, lasted for about 5-6 hours, became a skin scent after 2, surprising for a relatively inexpensive fragrance. The sillage is impressive, to me it seems a beast, projects very well + coupled with the type of scent = quite intoxicating. Love this little gem and I wish L'Erbolario fragrances were easier to find!!!

I love it. It seems very similar to Jour d'Hermes Absolu, which I also own and love. Both have a somewhat scratchy white flower vibe that might upset some, but, for me, it's just light making way to shine brighter and brighter, if that makes any sense. 😁 I get a lot of compliments for this one too.

I smell rubbery, powdery-sweet and an oddly aromatic discord. Rubber, rubber and more rubber! When I smelled this in the shop I loved it as a fresh, light floral, but now that I'm using it at home I'm deeply disappointed. What happened!? UPDATE: I still get the initial rubber note, but it fades and leaves a fresh, peppery and aromatic floral. Pepper and angelica dominate for me. There is also, surprisingly, a strong leather facet. After reading Elena Vosnaki's article on this website about Osmanthus flower as a note, I feel I understand this perfume better! Longevity is not great but for this price you can always re-spray. I like the packaging too; the white glass bottle comes in a lovely gold cylindrical case which I keep on display. Osmanthus and I have worked out our differences and the divorce will not be going ahead :p

I didn't expect so many dislikes for this fragrance! I received a sample of the shower gel, body lotion and perfume and used them all today. Osmanthus is a likable GREEN-floral with a hint of citruses. It's rather soft but has a decent longevity. It does have some sort of Jour d'Hermes vibe, but it also reminds me of something else...I don't know what exactly, but it's familiar. --- Edit: The body lotion is amazing! I don't own the perfume, but the lotion is simply perfect. It's super crispy-green and lasts for days on clothes.

I agree with the others who said it smells similar to Jour d'Hermes. Definitely very similar, at least to me. (btw seems like L'Erbolario got his inspiration from Hermes in Ginepro Nero too, which is very similar to Terre d'Hermes; both Ginepro Nero and Osmanthus are L'Erbolario's latest perfumes of this season)

Fresh, shimmering scent. A combination of delicate floral notes with creamy, slightly powdery sweetness. The scent is close to the skin, light, and transparent like a spring morning.

I also own Jour d'Hermes Absolu, and they are similar yet different. This one is less heavy and feels more like aromatherapy than a perfume.

It doesn't smell like the actual osmanthus flower to me, I know it well and I like it very much, but I don't really like this fragrance. It's very sweet, to me it smells mostly like orange blossom and jasmine. I think l'Erbolario has better fragrances, in my opinion.

L'Erbolario is hard to find in my area. I have several of their perfumes on my test list, but so far I have only gotten a sample of Osmanthus, which wasn't on my list, by chance. As I like fresh white florals and the peachy scent of osmanthus I was still happy to try this, but frankly, I hope L'Erbolario has better fragrances than this one because it's just not great, at least not on me. I have never tried Jour d'Hermes which this is often compared to, but I think this smells like a worse version of Chanel Gabrielle, which is also linked to Jour, so they might all be in the same family. Unfortunately Osmanthus isn't as refined as anything Hermes or Chanel would make, because it's extremely sour and unpleasantly artificial smelling. Heavy on the grapefruit, but not in a refreshing and sparkly way, rather tart and stale. The pink pepper smells harsh and woody, the osmanthus and gardenia are noticeable, but subdued and flat. It all calms down a bit after a while and isn't quite as harsh as in the beginning, but still nothing great. I have smelled worse things than this, but I wouldn't ever want to wear it. The whole scent makes me think of a household product. I guess the most positive thing I could say is that it at least smells clean. I'm not meaning to offend fans of this fragrance, maybe it smells better on others, but I wouldn't recommend to blind-buy this based on a love for osmanthus.

I do not mean that a fragrance named "Osmanthus" has necessarily to be a soliflore, but this is a great disappointment. I know the fragrance of osmanthus flowers very well as I have a few shrubs in my garden and when they are blooming they fill the air with the sweetest smell ever. It reminds me of candies, apricots, and a bit of suede. Strange but it works perfectly, and once you smell it you never forget about it. Unfortunately this perfume smells nothing like that. The top notes are horribly lemony and remind me of dishwashing soap. When they subside, some agonising flowers appear, and maybe, among them, a tiny, shy amount of osmanthus. This fragrance may be okay for office wear (once the lemons have gone away), but it should be named differently, the name "Osmanthus" is misleading. I usually love fragrances by L'Erbolario, but this time they did not do this great flower justice.

I agree with some of the reviews below that for a fragrance named "Osmanthus" I was expecting it to be waaaaaay more present. After the first nice sniff of citruses and apricot (15-20 mins) then on me it's goes directly very powdery/grandma style. Not necessarily a bad fragrance, just too much patchouli for my taste.

Smell generic blossoms into a garden. white multiflower zesty fruity. Nothing relevant, but appreciable. Gardenia apricot osmanthus orange green notes. Reminds me Jour d'Hermes. Sometimes we like to smell exactly like a flower, but humans are too complex and complicated to be satisfied by only one flower. We get easily bored. Better have multifaceted scents to investigate with the nose.
