Belle Âme

Warm, round and rich. Belle Ame is a spectacularly well executed perfume which for me is based around a gorgeous but not atypical iris/orris scent with a musky, vanillic bedfellow of tonka absolute which really chimes in more in the latter stages. Initially I found it more than mildly leathery, the ginger gives a pop of freshness in the opening and again works incredibly well with orris materials. There's a huge dollop of jus ne sais quoi in this, a mysterious quality which takes it away from being just another niche brand iris/orris of which there are many, very good ones, but many which have similar tropes, tricks and material combinations, despite what the note listing here might suggest, it's not another of those. Cacao for example is one of those tropes with orris perfumes and in all fairness it's here, but it doesn't feel played out. I actually felt it was so subtle as to be more like a particularly chocolate faceted benzoin. Also, despite all my patter about originality and uniqueness, my immediate association was with Dior Homme Parfum, this is clearly different in many ways and smells like an elevated more natural version of what is a superb perfume in the Dior, so it's definitely not a diss! It has been suggested to me that this is quite a misleading comparison (by parties who shall remain nameless) but it really isn't. So fuck you Dad!!!! This is the second part in Les Abstraits inital trio of releases and represents the beginning of the healing process after La Douleur exquise and it truly is a beautiful soul, and masterfully made perfume which just like the first release, doesn't give away all it's secrets right away. It's a very mature and measured approach which is in it for the long haul and to stand the test of time, rather than the temporal, 'look at me', instant gratification culture of perfume products. Again, Bravo Eugen and crew for making the world a better place by creating art that is worthy of discussion, praise and your money.

Immediate love for this. Addictive. Resinous softly sweet iris-cacao. The description of this perfume as a comforting iris chocolate made me pay instant attention and get the sample, which I promptly finished, then the bottle. Almost gourmand as others say, full of body- not quite at the degree of sweetness of Guerlain Art et la Matiere for example and thinking of comparable quality perfumes with a sweet resin feel (eg Bois d’Armenie) but almost. I get what I think is olibanum giving a slight pickled effect at the start similar to what happens in Hiram Green Lustre as it mixes with the beautiful cacao, musk and sweeter base notes. This gets sweeter and pillowy in the dry down. Long lasting. None of the Antoine Lie’s very good Indemodables convinced me enough to get a bottle, but this one is gorgeous, grew on me and could not stop thinking about it when my sample went. Truly a cocooning comfort, I get no discernible “aromachemical” feel in this whatsoever. So well done, Eugen! Looking forward to smelling more of Antoine Lie’s work. What a great team! Edit: I watched the interview stream to the perfumer in Eugen’s channel and it was fascinating. He used “everything he likes” into the comfort/ contemplative iris brief including orange blossom. No wonder this was such an instant like for me as including favourite notes of iris, orange blossom, cacao, vanilla, resins. Could this be a ‘mass appealing’ quality perfume? Edit #2: I can’t put this bottle down. It’s become one of my top 3 fragrances.

This is my third time coming back to this perfume, and I think I’m finally starting to warm to it. I was initially unsure about the ginger which, though only there in a supporting role, definitely makes its presence known. It challenges the orris in some ways, but is that a bad thing? I’m still not sure. What I am sure of is that it adds a layer of interest that so many iris perfumes seem to lack. It takes time revealing itself, lingering in each stage of development. The initial brightness hangs on for longer than expected before giving way to the dustiness of the cacao. It doesn’t feel at all chocolatey to me; instead it offers a kind of textural nuance that’s hard to describe but easy to appreciate. In the final stages, a sweet, smooth sandalwood feels creamy, soft, and luxurious. There’s musk too, but it never threatens to turn animalic. It stays incredibly clean and slightly vanillic for hours, clinging to the skin with determine. What’s abundantly clear is that this is made from high-quality materials. I read another reviewer compare it to Frederic Malle, and I agree, it feels like the brief was simply to use the best materials without restraint. It’s undeniably a great perfume, and one that’s hard not to eventually come around to... as I indeed have.

So much vitriol @mignique for your first ever opinion on Fragrantica!😳 Maybe you are the one who knows Eugen? I for one watched a couple of his videos (the ones relative to Belle Ame) after falling in love with the scent. If he likes Guerlain’s perfumery style though, it would make sense that something he commissions would appeal to guerlanophiles (Guerlain is my favourite brand). It makes sense that people who tried Les Indemodables tried Belle Ame and compared them, as they’re both made by Antoine Lie and use the same lab source for fragrant materials. It also makes sense that people who follow his channel both love Guerlain and tried his scents, if he loves and reviews Guerlain. I personally learned about him, the perfumer and the perfume via the YouTube fragrance community (people I follow reviewing this scent)- same as many other fragrances I have tried. And I am so glad I did, it’s really awesome and one of my best recent discoveries. Also, Les Indemodables is not an ‘obscure’ brand but pretty well known. I have known about it for 4 years, when I ordered a sample pack and reviewed several of them. I think most people here just care about scents, and not personality cult or hate.

@mignique: just for the record.......I happen to know both Les Indemodables and Les Abstraits. Because 'obscure' perfume brands fascinate me. That's why I browse this website, why I check YouTube for fragrance reviews and why I visit niche perfumeries. And why I order samples. Loads of samples! I genuinely think Belle Âme has very much in common with Musc des Sables (which is not surprising as it is made by the same perfumer) and I genuinely think Belle Âme is more complex. I have never met Eugen, I never spoke to him, I never interacted with him online. I have watched some of his content on Youtube and admire him for setting up a Indie perfume brand in this over saturated market and for teaming up with Antoine Lie, who I think is a very talented perfumer. I wish him all the succes in the world. And no brand or store will refund an opened bottle of perfume.

Antoine Lie created a masterpiece for this little Canadian brand. (While I’m Canadian, I don’t know the brand owner and have never watched his chanel.) Belle Âme begins with a strong—and probably very expensive—overdose of iris. Here it is very pretty and clean. But within 30 minutes, cocoa and vanilla come forward to join the iris and it begins to smell a little bit like Musc Ravageur except with more chocolate—a delightful twist on musc. I adore this perfume. It’s vintage but modern. Longevity and sillage are good: it’s a compliment getter. My only gripe is that it doesn’t come in 50ml or travel sizes. But it’s so good, I plan to invest in a full bottle. Definitely worth a sniff, especially for iris lovers! Edit: when I’m feeling cheeky, I layer this with Al-Rehab’s Choco Musk oil. The combination is sacrilegious, yes, but absolutely intoxicating.

First word that comes to mind when smelling this is ethereal. Eugen explained in one of his videos that he wanted this fragrance to represent meditation and healing. Antoine Lie nailed the brief. The most surprising thing about the fragrance is how airy it is considering the notes. It's not particularly sweet either. It's primarily orris with touches of spice from the ginger and cardamon, and lots of musk. The orris is multifaceted. Mostly buttery and powdery, but it's also floral and a bit earthy. I've seen comparisons to Dior Homme Intense and Reflection to name a couple. It doesn't really smell like either. It does not smell as dense, sweet, or powdery as DHI or Reflection. It's versatile. Suitable for any occasion or season. Could easily be a signature scent. This fragrance is evidence that not all niche has to be challenging to evoke emotion.

Les Abstraits Belle Ame (2022) -iris cocoa - As a collector of Iris perfumes and as my Instagram account name indicates, I love this perfume note. Yet, it also becomes a challenge in finding Iris perfumes that excite me. #antoinelie together with creative director Eugen creates one of the most beautiful Iris perfumes. The accord is powdery and soft Iris combined with a gourmand Cocoa note. This isn’t chocolate candy bar, but roasted and almond like. I also sense a smoky Incense intertwined with Tonka bean that resembles Guerlain Art and Material exclusives, akin to Tonka Imperiale or Iris Torrifie mixed with Blvgari Black. Drydown has a well-made Sandalwood, Tonka and white musk accord that proudly carries itself through a prominent sillage. Calm, meditative and comforting.

Wow, very good stuff! I abhor, abhor (!) sweet perfumes in general and anything remotely gourmand makes me cringe. This beautiful perfume however is the exception that confirms my otherwise very set tastes. I agree with the other commenters that it's roccoco iris-opening easily rivals any Guerlain. But the real perk of this perfume is it's plush, velvety, huggable, extremely comforting drydown with pillowy muscs, soft sandelwood and the most delicious tonka bean I've ever smelled. Great performance and yet discreet. Lingers forever.... Belle Âme reminds me a lot of Musc des Sables by the same perfumer, but I must admit that this is more complex and even better.

You know, I think this may be signature scent worthy for me. I am kind of in love. It's powdery but not too powdery. I love the ginger-cacao notes. It's just beautiful from start to finish. I'm usually into more animalic or stinky-oud-patchouli forward fragrances, but this hits a place that I just love. It's easy to wear and delicious. I admit I am a big fan of Antoine Lie, especially his work with Eris (Mxxx?!?), and this totally met those expectations. Well done! The price is high, but it's 100ml and long lasting. I'm going to wear a bit more before pulling the plug, but I think I'm sold.

One of the best iris fragrances I’ve ever worn. Sometimes iris can be one dimensional and scratchy, leaving it smelling of urinal cake or cleaning products. This iris has multiple dimensions that feel alive and fluid; being spicy, floral and raw. I agree with others, there seems to be some rose hiding in the mid notes. On first wearing my wife said, “whatever you’re wearing smells expensive.” This is not a blind buy scent and will not be for the average savage joe. But if you enjoy a unisex fragrance that speaks to you in an artistic voice for most of the day than I’d jump at this one.

Well! This is a beauty. Iris with a hint of milk chocolate and spice. Cold to the touch, soft as suede, luxuriously thick orris root. Very well-made, neither too sweet, powdery nor carroty. Perfectly pitched. A little cardamom bringing some airy dryness, unobtrusive sandalwood and some tonka bean supporting in the base. An iris god/goddess. Ironically, given my username, I've never been much of a fan of iris or purple florals in general — too powdery, too many associations with vintage — but this is stunningly beautiful and I'm teetering over the buy button. The best in its class

This fragrance is lovely. The Iris is perfectly sweetened. This is a comforting and easy to wear scent with a tiny bit of a vintage flair. Don’t let that scare you. What I mean by that is that it is so well constructed that it reminds me of classics such as Shalimar . It does not smell like it but it has the class of Shalimar. My favorite Iris fragrance is Dior Homme Parfum (and I’m a woman) but this is giving DHP a run for its money. I will probably be wearing this in the daytime and DHP or others at night.

100ml? I’ll never use all of that. How wrong I was. An alarming dent in my bottle after only a few months. The intrusive backup thoughts have already started. Christ. This is as good as any Guerlain, even better than some. 2025 Update: I'm over half a bottle in and this is still on my favourites shelf, if anything I love it more now than I did in my initial review. Still not affiliated with either the creator or the perfumer btw.

I smell sweet gourmand iris in the opening and I don't really see the connection to the name 'Beautiful Soul'. Fortunately, this scent becomes less edible and more textured afterwards with its smokiness and spiciness being quite tender. I was sure this wasn't going to be the one for me but it has really been growing on me. The scent of finding inner peace/ self-love. A good one for colder days, a comforting one.

I really love this, but why is nobody talking about the ginger? This is such a ginger bomb on me! Same ginger he used in Mx for Eris, just amped up to the extreme! I don’t sense cacao/chocolate at all, just a big bold bright ginger, a cloud of iris and a musky sandalwood drydown. Weird and wonderful and not blind buy safe in the slightest - it almost reminds me of dog shampoo.

I'm impressed by the complexity. Upon application, you get an earthy, rich iris up close, but the sillage goes warm and pillowy with a blend of sweet and savory notes. There's a very subtle toasted rice note as Belle Âme dries down that I find completely intoxicating. Belle Âme isnt cloying, but I doubt I'd reach for it on a hot day; seems fairly versatile otherwise.

This is very reminiscent of Musc Des Sables by the same perfumer. So if you love that one, you'll most likely love this one. This is a brighter version of Musc Des Sables without the patchouli. I adore them both. There's something so cozy and comforting about them both. This is def on my wish list! Most likely my next full bottle purchase. Performance is great on me!

Over time this has become my signature scent. I am a lover of Iris scents and this is the best one that I have in my collection. I was lucky that my friend Fliss sold her back up bottle ;) It is perfectly unisex and could be worn in any season tbh. Presentation is lovely. Atomiser is great and projects a great mist. Beguiling. This stunning Iris reads like a parfum extrait. This creation of Antione Lie and Eugen Nazic would be worthy of inclusion in Frédéric Malle's fragrances. I am simply moved by the profound beauty. I will review more technically later. I am a puddle of emotions at my first sniff...its profound beauty has made me a bit teary here.

Iris lovers wet dream...just pure iris powder in all its glory. The iris and santal combo here is something else. This does not remind me of Dior Homme, even tho it has iris. But this is a step up from every iris i tried so far. Actually the iris here is more of the Chanel La Pausa iris, more rooty and moody. Luxury in a bottle.

Beautiful fragrance. Candied violets & iris perfectly blended with some spices. As simple as that sounds, this is not a simple fragrance. It develops and changes throughout the day. It vacillates between cold and warm. One moment it is sweet and the next, it's musky. This perfume makes my heart smile.

This is a beautiful relaxing fragrance. Very creamy and sweet scent but not gourmand. Love the Iris opening that’s reminiscing of Dior Homme line. The blend is amazing to my nose. I will eventually purchase a full bottle for sure. This is unisex / a little feminine leaning to my nose. 5/5.

Absolutely love this and while I usually prefer 50ml bottles, I am glad this is 100ml. Also the sprayer is amazing. Iris, powdery cacao, sweet comforting. Also fans of this should try Antoine Lie's new creation Rendez-Vous, it's also stunning! Surprised it's not on Fragrantica yet!

Bone-dry orris root, crumbly cacao and musk. Not a hint of sweetness. This lasts hours on skin, and presents a diffusive pale lilac-hued aura that stays with you just as long. A beautiful, classy and very unisex creation that is well worth every penny if you like Iris.

Absolutely incredible. One of the best iris / orris fragrances I've smelled. The iris here manages to stay buttery for quite a bit of time, then it dries down into a sweet tonka / musky / powdery base. It does remind me of Iris Malikhan slightly, but WAY WAY better.

I am enjoying this more and more..."Ambery"- iris with delightful, sweet-nuttiness. Billowy, but by no means a light wear. Anytime, anywhere other than summer daytime...Spray according to occasion.

By far the best iris fragrance out there. This is equivalent to Frederic Malle tasking a perfumer with creating the best iris fragrance imaginable.

I just received this today and so I need to live with it for a while. At first sniff? A total love.

Orris-cocoa-sandalwood. I only get the ginger and cardamom up close

Very nice interplay of elements in this, smooth silky iris but sharp spice from the ginger, sweetness and bitterness from the tonka and cocao and bit of a smoky citrus feel from the olibanum and cardamom together. This all sits on a nice smooth bit of woods and soapy musk. "Iris, Shalimar and Spice" shampoo is probably the best way I can describe it. For my tastes, this is probably the best in the lineup so far although in theory I should have preferred Des Cendres the most. It's also the fragrance that I most associate with Eugen's tastes imho also. If this sold in 50ml format for a similar 50% of the cost of the 100ml I'd probably buy a full bottle. ---- edit: I just got a sample of Musc des Sables that people have voted as a likeness. It does have a fair bit of overlap but the large presence of Iris and Cacao in Belle Ame makes it a different fragrance overall, and Belle Ame is much nicer imho. ---- edit #2: @mignique This might be the first "fragrance drama" I've been named in. I'm flattered. I don't know Eugen, but I do know the channel and the tastes he has. I got the samples what 18 months after they were released? so I am hardly on his friends list, and I paid out of my own pocket. I happened to like them and given there was a likeness voted for with Musc Des Sables I picked up a decant of that from someone else along with samples for Rose de Jamal, Chypre Azural and Ambre Supreme which I've yet to try. I don't think it's out of the ordinary to compare a fragrance that others voted on as a likeness and then say in both reviews. I never said Musc Des Sables smells cheap, because I don't think that it does, and I didn't mention pricing at all. Go check again. There's no bias here from me especially when I said I was not that blown away with Des Cendres and I wouldn't personally buy Belle Ame or LDE unless it was done in 50ml bottles and cheaper...but that rant from you...phew. I can maybe see that it isn't super fair to the other brand to send people over here to this fragrance though, so I have edited that section out of that review and reposted it (to reset the votes). For reference this is what it said, which mirrors the first edit section I did to this review: "If you like this, you might consider Les Abstraits Belle Ame which was also by Antoine Lie. This is a lovely cultivated orris perfume, harmonising its many natural facets whilst simultaneously rounding out every possible edge in an assured, almost clinical way. It safely walks the path between something powdery, and something overtly clean. This thin veil of airy orris evokes soft whites and beige tones, diffusing effortlessly off the skin with a fluffy, papery dustiness. It smells very much as though it could be someone’s natural scent; a happy comforting mix of clean clothes, moisturised skin and dry shampoo. It is at once slightly carrot-y and pulpy in its powdery nuance, it wraps around you like a cosy scarf, shutting away the world’s injustice. This is something I could see myself wearing to bed, to whisk me away to sleep free of worry and doubt.

Very similar to Dior Homme Intense. Sweet, musky, powdery iris perfume with some woodiness and soft spices. The iris and sweet materials are both overdosed to the point that you can't really smell much else. Smells high-quality but you probably already have something similar in your collection if you're a fan of iris as a main note.

Iris / orris and sandalwood have always been my favorite notes. However, I cannot seem to enjoy this one. Some perfumes are described as dusty. This is a retrouvaille found in an abandoned house, in the middle of the forest. There's so much dust, one cannot read the label. You search your surroundings & finally find a rag strong enough to wipe the dust away, a huge cloud of this old, horrid dust enters your nostrils & somehow finds its way into your mouth. In this scenario, the bottle is a dabber, not spray as it surely comes from some forgotten age. So, you've managed to open the bottle and you smell a lovely orris somewhere in its depth. However, you're sneezing & trying desperately to disperse the dust - sadly to no avail. You bring it home & clean it properly because you know, there's potential here. For years, the most you can stand is to just open it and give it a tiny sniff. Each time you wish this will be the day it transforms into something lovely. You know there is a potentially wonderful fragrance in this bottle that stood the test of time. Where is that scent that I know is in there somewhere?

Baffling banjaxed bamboozlement! Well THIS took a turn - a very unwelcome one, which I still welcome. Puzzled? It's like this: every note listed here (bar tonka) I love. People I respect think this is wonderful. It's gathered effusive love from all over the perfume community. Upscale iris is my jam. This? I hated it. Given its expense, I'm relieved about that. But oh my iris goodness, what went wrong? Was I sent a mislabeled tester? Because for me - although there are is an initially lovely unfurling of something like a good, greasy-rooty orris acccord in the first few moments - the central spine and USP I was really after here - it's soon overwhelmed by something unbearably cloying, green-sweet-fungal, somehow medicinal yet mouldy, super-femme and rotten all at once. Literally, on me, smells like sneaker-sweaty feet overdusted with some sort of talc, then sweated into again, then wiped on me - and what's more, super persistent and unbearably PRESENT, for hours on end, so can't be ignored. I thought it might have been some sort of collision with a rogue angelica or myrrh or something, but not that either. Absolutely mystifying misfire. There are other cacao/gourmand-iris hybrids I'd eat with a spoon if I could ( PG Iris Taizo, SHL Panthea Iris) so that can't be the issue. Ginger I love, so ditto. Is it tonka turned offensive? Or musk gone feral? Absolutely no idea what has happened here, but for all those on the fence - do NOT blind buy. This is the textbook example of why money spent on proper spray testers from legit sources is never wasted. If I'd gambled the full RRP - would have been a disaster. For now - I can do no more than wonder, speculate, and try my hardest to understand ... what WAS that?

I wish Fragrantica would filter out all these fake praise reviews left by the brand's frag-friends. It is quite obvious they've been instructed to do a favour by comparing this to the brand owner's idolized brands and perfumers on purpose to boost marketing - Guerlain Chanel, Editions de Frederic Malle, Dior. Each friend of owner making remarks to purposely mention it is in "same leaugue" as Shalimar and Dior Homme are shameful. Literally each review is a carbon copy. Why on earth would Guerlain or Malle need to be mentioned over and over again for this fragrance? This frag they say is a knockoff of Les Indemodables Musc des Sables where not one single review mentions Guerlain or Malle...... Example from 3 separate reviews below that read as though they were fed these lines to imbed: "This is as good as any Guerlain, even better than some." "I concur with reviewers below who said this is as good as any Guerlain and perhaps better than some of them, and miles ahead of many similarly priced 'designer' perfumes on the market that has now gone mad with pricing." "I agree with the other commenters that it's roccoco iris-opening easily rivals any Guerlain." "This creation of Antione Lie and Eugen Nazic would be worthy of inclusion in Frédéric Malle's fragrances." Why on earth would any reviewer let alone several feel the need to bring up Guerlain at all? Each review states a similar theme and familiarity with brand owner. BUSTED! They were coached to by Eugen. Fakes. If you look at reviews for anotber scent in his line, La Douleur Exquise, which happens to be a Portrait of a Lady knockoff - you'll come across the same tactic of comparisons being drawn to Chanel, Frédéric Malle and Les Indemodables by the same reviewers.......how sleazy and cheap. To confirm, go read the review for Musc de Sables by Les Indemodables left by his fragpal SmellMyCheese where he states "If you like this, you might consider Les Abstraits Belle Ame which was also by Antoine Lie" after saying MdS is mediocre and overpriced (I wonder if how the owner of Les Indemodables feels about her brand being used as a whipping boy to flog sales for Eugen's brand?) . Just about every review below states that this scent reminds them of Musc des Sables but a much better version of it....what a striking coincidence to be familiar enough with both obscure frags to make such a comparison between the two! It is well known Eugen ragged on Roja Dove for knocking off Guerlain - now he reveres him (cause he's attempting the same). He even is asking for comparisons to be drawn to Frederic Malle, his concept and creations (both for himself and his fragline which is a grandiose personal fantasy of his obviously - talk about getting carried away with your ego). The bottles, name and design are a knock-off of Les Indémodables (another Antoine Lie brand) and the whiny, post break-up, self-examining, toxic positivity, introspective theme is really corny. I am really uncomfortable with a brand using a broken marriage as a launchpad to sell perfume, it is just weird (what does his ex-partner think of constantly being flagged for marriage failure resulting in his personal depression - I mean what is the whole picture here.....) The tagline on the website is as trite as it gets: "CONTEMPLATING THE ART OF LIFE THRU THE WORLD OF PERFUME". Especially given how much gossip and hate Eugen has encouraged towards others in his "influencer" community. The pretentious use of French by someone who doesn't speak french is as cliché as it gets as far as perfume naming goes and banal. Its kind of manipulative to get your fragpals to overload Fragrantica with positive reviews comparing this brand to French masterpieces. Like trying to launch yourself into the Pantheon amongst the Gods by association. Very sleazy. The hubris of the owner to think he can unseat Frederic Malle by using cheap marketing tactics is what I expect from a Youtuber. It reminds me of Richard Dreyfuss' character in Close Encounters of a Third Kind who throws away everything in his life over an obsession of déja vu. This is a nosedrag and my sample was so boring I gave it away. It smells much like a floral-laden version of Miller Harris Violet Ida and dries down to a skin scent reminiscent of Jo Malone Bluebell within 2 hours. Nothing interesting or new to see or smell here. At $300 for a 100ml bottle this brand owner is just ripping you off by equating his prices to Chanel Les Exclusifs collection. Even a 2ml sample is priced at $20!!!! Unless you're an IG personality who "paints on things" and also posts about trying on underwear and bras (very classy- a wise use of marketing here folks, know your clientele!) - then he'll send you a free bottle to promote his brand along with many others he's sent free bottles to. This brand's premise is cloaked in delusional pretentious fallacy. If you're skeptical about shelling out $300 for a Youtuber's delusions of grandeur you can always show your support by purchasing brand t-shirts for $50!! Classy! I've also never seen a brand that charges so much have a zero refund policy that states "buyers remorse is not reason for a refund".....is this even for real?? If there aren't enough red flags, you have to dispute the charges with your bank or cc to get your money back because the brand refuses to refund you if you need to legitimately return the item or are unhappy with it - scam alert! YES VIRGINIA! - REFUNDS DO EXIST FOR PERFUME! Do the retailers that carry this brand have the same unfair zero refund policy?? In fact the complete copycat style is cringe-worthy, totally displaying the lack of sophistication and originality of the brand owner. Eugen gives credit to fellow fragbro 'Houdini4' for inspiring him for the direction of his brand (knocking off and drawing comparisons to Malle - I could just picture the IG DMs between these two) - now if that isn't a joke in itself. Chris/Houdini_sotd is a total imposter and a clown. If he's not peppering Fragrantica with his non-impartial nauseating, bloviated reviews of non-alluring spiel (see below & other reviews for Eugen's brand), he's being obnoxious on IG lurking everywhere like a lice infestation. He once bragged about getting a free box full of tester bottles and perfumes sent to him by a boutique shop in England because he went out of his way to actually contact the owner and say the employee didn't give him the proper attention and he would trash them on social media. What kind of lowlife blackmails a small indie shop and bullies the staff for free samples?? He does nothing but preoccupy himself with stirring up trouble and trying to establish himself as an influencer by latching onto one person after another sucking their soul then moving onto his next target (he tags well-known IG people until they pay attention to him, did that to Danu_sf). There are quite a few of these sad types on IG passing themselves off as brand advisors and 'marketing experts' (another toxic IG 'brand advisor' is Pep/the_Scentinel_ who constantly erases his content then re-emerges with a new identity and new set of "friends" whom he actively seeks out (after he is done using people or attacking from an angle and it backfires......creepy). I dont know how Antoine Lie signed his name to this mess. "The fragpals doth protest too much, methinks" see above for on-cue responses of excessive, defensive outrage). The fact they are addressing me for hitting the nail on the head says it all. Very odd how each of them quickly piped up identifying with themselves. Says it all. Just pathetic....taking time out of your day to bombast a valid critique on behalf of a Youtuber you're following.

I wanted to experience this fragrance due to the Orris, Iris and Cacao. I was expecting something powdery and a bit sweet, but what I got was something very spicy and sharp, which turned out to be mainly due to the African Ginger. I like ginger, but this was not regular ginger. I learned something new about the variations of ginger while testing out this fragrance. African Ginger is a wild ginger, which is stronger and pungent in contrast to regular ginger which is milder. The sharp ginger, compiled with the Cardamom and Olibanum were too many spicy notes in this fragrance for me. I wanted more of the Cacao, as that is one of my favorite notes. It was drowned out by the spiciness. This fragrance is beast mode as I only sprayed 1 spray to test. For some reason this fragrance reminded me of Lillac Love Amouage. They bare some similarities in the way they smell on my skin. Unfortunately I had to scrub this off. I could still smell it after scrubbing my skin twice and applying oil. So for those who enjoy this fragrance profile, it has great projection and eternal longevity. This is not gourmand. There are too many spicy elements. for them to be considered edible, unless you like heartburn. This is a woody floral musk as it’s listed. This is unisex and it leans more masculine. It’s not a safe blind buy, so be sure to try before you buy.

Belle Âme upon the opening is quite fresh and a little bit of a clean musk. The ginger here offers that fresh spiciness. A pop, a zing. Something in this also gives a green vibe to me, a little herbal but not medicinal. Iris, I can find going back and forth between being buttery, a little damp earthiness to dusty at times. There's almost a light dusting of powdered sweetness; confectioner's sugar. The cacao adds a depth of warmth, probably aided by the heat of the ginger. The scent will almost fade all together on me after about 8 hours, if it weren't for this sillage of smooth rich tonka and sandalwood. Ever so often it will come back to orbit and had me wanting to keep finding where I sprayed it and smelling it more. It wears very light on me; feels pillowy, soft, airy. Elegant. I had absentmindedly set the bottle down in a comforter duvet and in seeing it upon coming back, it made sense (lol). Where La Douleur Exquise hit us in the deepest part, Belle Âme is like surround sound in cushy comfort.

I'm not sure about this one yet. The ginger is extremely lemon-y. I love iris and scents like Givenchy L'Ange Noir, Vivamor Creme Exquis, Ibrahim Fuhaid Orrissilla, LVEB Iris Absolu, etc., but this is like the base of Orrisilla with a sharp lemon-y ginger. It's kind of weird. I'm not sure if I like it or if I don't like it. I'll have to come back to this decant in a week or two. Edit: I'm wearing this today. I like it. It's not a love though. As it dries down, that lemon-y ginger tones down. It loses that sharpness. I'm left with a lipstick-y iris. I already own enough of frags with that scent profile so this will not be joining my collection.

This reminds me of Dior Homme intense in the opening, but it dries down to a tart-like candied aroma similar to Reflection Man. It's very pleasant in the dry-down phase and it keeps me interested the entire duration I'm wearing it. I don't know what it is, but I think it is the Orris/Sandalwood in this that entices my olfactory system. Side note: It surprises me to see rose is not listed in the profile, because I get a candied floral lingering around. Interesting...

This is such a gorgeous fragrance. It's like being enveloped in an iris, orris, citrus & rose combination. It's well put together and can easily be someone's signature scent. I was surprised to read that it had no rose.. I am still trying to break it all down but it's worth sampling 100% I'd get a bottle if they had a smaller size at a cheaper price point. I love everything about this fragrance! Really beautiful opening. Reminded me of another fragrance called Spring Dance by Dominique Ropion. Only on the opening though. Antoine Lie another great creation. As for all the people that hate on Eugen..... Why don’t you get your own resources, get a world class perfumer, and create your own brand? Peace!

When I first sprayed it, the first 30-45 minutes reminded me of the gorgeous powdery dry down of Guerlain Habit Rouge EDT. Then, after the 2-hour mark, the musky smell strongly reminded me of Musc Ravageur by Frédéric Malle. I have never smelled Musc Des Sables by Les Indémodables, so I can’t comment on that, as some reviewers mentioned below.

Reminds me very much of the floral iris/ orris butter of Iris Perle by Les Indemodables. I, too, get something slightly sour and dill-like somewhere. Everyone is saying this is semi-gourmand, but it's reading floral-woody-musk to my nose.

This is giving grandmothers closet who keeps her clothes meticulously clean but for some reason everything still smells like muscle rub and vaporub. I apologise to anyone who will smell me at the gym, it smells like I ate your G-Ma out.

I just finished my oxidized sample which I had for a long time, before oxidization smelled totally different, now it smells beautiful too, with the top notes gone, strangely enough, it reminds me a bit to Serge Lutens Santal Majescule

Crushed not to like this. Such excellent and personal service from the brand. However the type of musk used in the base rubbed me the wrong way. Not a safe blind buy.

I get a candied Reflection man... Why do I really enjoy this? And why does this remind me of Valentine’s Day? What is this experience?
