2015 Le Phénix

Outstanding, amazing, God mode woody fragrance. This really smells like an ancient, ageless creature that is capable of resurrection. You get some spices, then top notch, dry patchouli and one of the best wood essence. With a slightly hint of smoke, but this smoke is from dark, burning woods, not from rubbish, plastic ash. No Middle-Eastern sweetness, just the smell of the north. Imagine that: its cold outside, you are sipping some ginger tea, woods are burning in the fireplace, everything is crimson from the glow of fire. Good signature for Gryffindor house. I need a bottle.

2015 Le Phenix is a masterful blend of cedar, cardamom, ginger, and patchouli, with the barest touch of smoky incense. It is a masculine fragrance and is very versatile, being appropriate for any season, any time of day, and any setting. I love this fragrance, but I wish the sillage and longevity were stronger. 7/10.

This is how I imagine god to smell. It's a very serious and deep smell, in the most comforting way. A beautiful unisex scent that never get's too obtrusive despite being quite heavy. Wow. Wouldn't necessarily wear it in summer though.

There is something about this that gives me the feeling/memory of Paris. No particular gender, time or setting. It’s nostalgic and personal. Although not a powerhouse, I wear it only for myself. If others get it, good for them

I wore this past couple of days and am surprised there is no vetiver listed. It just smells like many other niche smokey vetiver masculines, albeit a nice one with depth and moderate performance. The quality is there but it’s another miss for me because, like 1978, it is a concept and style you can find many other places for the same or less. Love the Les Bains Guerbois bottles though. Reminds me of Rochas Moustache and Le Galion.

That's pretty good. Classy, mature, masculine. Very cedar forward, dry and woody. It reminds me of Déclaration d'un Soir EDP. I wouldn't buy it, but it'd make a good signature scent for a man. Performance is good.

I'm testing Les Bains Guerbois blind and haven't looked up anything about the brand or the fragrances. Sharp, pine green, rosemary and herbal, there's a vetiver undertone vibe. Several minutes later I'm getting a crisp and clean vetiver/incense smoky tone with little amounts of citrus and maybe traces of jasmine to round out the smokey greens. It's relatively fresh, smoky crisp, and slightly spicy. It's mostly mid and high notes and doesn't have a lot of base which gives it a thinner, but a crisp and clean feel. Looking at the notes now I'm a little surprised there's no vetiver, but the notes listed seem to carry the general sense. The amber and musk seem distant though, with incense being the more prominent base note, but as stated, is mostly mid and up. It's a lighter version of other smoky green scents that can get too smokey or peaty. Can't really find anything unpleasant, but likewise nothing especially interesting either, keeping in mind it's quality still shows through and is generally pleasant.

There was a time, maybe 12 or 13 years ago, when this really would have appealed to me. A sharply woody, buzzsaw cedar meets spicy Oud-Givco-cypriol, dark woody-Iso-E-incense number (I used to own Gucci Pour Homme and Bentley for Men Absolute), 2015 Le Phenix feels more like an alternate draft on this theme from Almairac. It's not that its necessarily a poor fragrance, its just seems an "also ran" of this style and I've moved on from feeling any thrill from anything like this. I would say its redundant should you already own either or both of the two mentioned above. I hope this is helpful—and for those who do enjoy it, by all means!

At the start, it really reminds me of a mix of Hinoku and Zagorsk from CDG. This scent is very cold and masculine, with a powerful smell of wood and menthol, like pine trees in a winter forest. But it lasts only a couple of minutes. Then cardamom, ginger and patchouli unfold and, at the same time, the perfume weakens significantly, in every sense. Also, after a while, the menthol coolness from the start turns into a not-so-pleasant medical note.

It starts quite sour and earthy with a bit acetone that is most likely a smell of fresh ginger mixed with some spices. Patchouli here is the most dominant note, next to slightly “oily” and smoky papyrus. It’s not bad but still quite edgy. I prefer Papyrus Oud over this one.

Papyrus, patchouli, and incense. More for fall and winter. Bold, and interesting. Once again everything goes in the Maison Guerbois under the deeply burnished domes and cupolas, in a subtle spiral of cardamom and ginger, patchouli and cedar wood, incense and amber. The Spa, the nightclub, the hotel. Dance, linger, dream, perspire, drink, watch, sense, seduce, doze. All the yesterdays and now. This is LES BAINS ; 1885, 1978, 2015. --> In this brand, I really like: - for spring and summer: 2018 Roxo Tonic (bergamote and neroli, 8/10) and 1979 New Wave (mint and orris, 9/10) - for fall and winter: 1885 Sulfureux (rosemary, mandarin and amber, 8/10), 1986 Eclectique (oak moss, honey and tobacco; 9/10) and 1978 Les Bains Douches (yuzu, whiskey and tobacco; 9/10)

A smoky, masculine scent with a strong papyrus note in the opening. I’m in agreement with the review directly below mine; not my style.

Smoky, dry, buttered toast from a can. Something about it makes my nose pucker, like it wants to shut out the scent.

I was so excited to read enthusiastic reviews regarding this beautiful scent... but alas, none yet. I’ve known this brand for awhile and enjoy everything they have put out thus far. But Le Phénix.. I truly was not expecting it to smell this GOOD. When first applied, I smell a lot of spices, a whisper of smoke, incense. It is a lovely start, but that’s as far as I have gone in the past. But also... meh, just okay. I happened to get distracted this time and didn’t smell again until a solid 10 mins later.. and....and... magic! Maybe it’s on me specifically, maybe not. But as it warmed up... I got a kind of musty, woody, spicy, yet somehow “fresh” or clean and refreshing vibe. Kept getting better. Like a deliciously old, musty, damp ship.... with spilled booze, sweet spices, salt air, earth and woodsy warmth. Also reminds me of damp ground, maybe soil and cement.. after a rain. Then the sultry, earthy spices kick in. Just divine. An unexpected and much appreciated treat! FB worthy methinks :)

Michael Almaric Gucci Pour Homme 2003 Bentley Absolute 2014 Papyrus Oud 2018 This 2018 Yep all by Almaric. All smell very similar but Bentley and this are not deep and heavy as the OG. I never smelled Papyrus Oud and have no desire to. This scent profile is very hard to pull not versatile or a compliment getter, but you know what, I LOVE IT! Trust me on this folks, if you want a cheaper alternative then try DUA Winter Woods.

The opening is a bit weird but after 5 min this perfume settles to Gucci Pour Homme 2003. Yes even more close to GPH than Papyrus Oud This perfume is not evocative of Paris. Incense, Papyrus and Wood scent. A very dry, smoky incense. Performance wise: Didn't project a huge amount, lasted a good 8-9 hours. Acted largely as a skin scent for the last 4hrs or so. Overall a decent, inoffensive fragrance. It doesn't stand out for any particular reason, but does what it sets out to do. 6/10

Papyrus, patchouli, and incense. The blend lean toward the tobacco dark incense with hints of sweet herbal comes from the ginger & cardamom. The amber here is quite dry and smokey and i believe it's because of the patchouli & the incense. Cute incense blend, not churchy but smokey incense kind of blend. Nice.

Sexy, sophisticated, distinct, masculine. An addictive opening with papyrus, ginger and musk that smell like nothing I’ve ever owned. The cardamom doesn’t register for me, but amber and patchouli add heft and longevity. I have the cologne version of this, too, and love its bracing vibe.

This one was a scrubber for me. Rancid patchouli oil from the late 1960s., mixed with some sort of chemically cedar. Luckily there were no authentic, real resins used for the so-called "incense" note, so it only took soap and water to get this monstrosity off of my skin. Foul.
